I like using HONEST, but HONESTLY, your prices are expensive for the work being done, your store over prices labor hours for work that takes half the time. it doesn't take 8 hours to do brakes, its takes 20 minutes tops for each wheel. It doesn't take 8 hours to do Injectors, it takes 15 minutes per, tops! 125 dollars to install a air pressure sensor on a tire, is ridiculous! I understand its Ashburn, but that's no excuse to over charge for work that takes less time or an easy repair. Who charges 90 an hour for labor? People rather drive to Chantilly to get better pricing. You should think about that when planning on how to keep regular customers coming back. I understand your in the business of making a profit, but especially in a neighborhood that holds alot of government workers, you'd be aware of your customers situation. Just food for thought. These guys give good, fast service. Continue to go back again and again. They've driven me home before when I had to leave my car longer and didn't have a ride. Only complaint I have is they flushed my transmission and then a few months later had to do it again because it wasn't done properly the first time. Of course, they did it for free as you'd expect. I chose to go here due to their stellar reviews and also, they will change your oil and filter that you bring unlike other places that only will use your oil, not your filter. Their prices are also very reasonable! For just the labor for oil change and filter, it's $20. I also needed to do my car inspection. When I rolled up in there on a Saturday morning, they were incredibly busy so I had no choice but to drop it off. I called my wife to pick me up but no answer! So I asked them how long the wait was and that I was stranded here. So they whipped out their car and drove me home! Before that I asked to grab a coffee somewhere and they told me to try their coffee which was organic light roast and save 5 bucks! After 2 hours it was done and came over to pick it up. They did offer to come get me if I had no ride to the place! Everything was fine! No issues and absolutely super friendly and accommodating staff. I'm always skeptical of auto repair facilities and ALWAYS get screwed, so I was prepared for the worst when I went to Honest-1 when I was hearing a weird noise from the back of my car. They called me an few hours later and said there was nothing wrong with the car and it was just my tires were the wrong size for my car. There was no charge for their time! Based on this experience I took the car back a few months later for 50k service. On my other car the dealership charged almost $700 for this, so I was expecting to pay slightly less. I also had some needed repairs, so was braced for a painful visit. Not only was the price paid for everything reasonable and fair, but the repair work was done correctly and was a fantastic experience. Talking with the others in the waiting room they all had similar experiences, so am really happy there is a competent and honest auto repair facility in Ashburn. I can't say enough positive things about my two visits except I am moving all my business there for my other auto as well. read more

I went to get tires mounted and balanced. i have a truck so my tires are bigger than cars. they told me that it would be 4 hours because my tires are offset. That doesn't make sense. BAIT & SWITCH! Be careful! I was told $129.00 for truck alignment. Then when my truck is on the rack, the mechanic says that he needs more labor. The price shoots up to $195.00! No choice but to pay! My Honest review was deleted from their website because they only want to show their good reviews... the truth is I was taken for granted by this shop, they wanted to charge me close to $1K to change my spark plugs and ignition coils. I'm a single Mom so of course that estimate was way over my budget so I denied the work and picked up my car. They charged me $181 just to run diagnostics and keep my vehicle overnight. I went home and looked up on YouTube how to change plugs and coils and did this job myself in 2 hours and under $250. My vehicle is a V8 so I had to purchase 8 plugs and 8 coils. My suggestion, if you're a single female, don't take your vehicle here because all they see is the opportunity to over charge us because they don't think we know how to do some things ourselves. I paid Honest Auto Care in Ashburn, Va about $60.00 to perform a cooling system pressure test and estimate for radiator repair and received the car back the same day. Immediately subsequent to picking the car up, I heard a terrible racket under the hood. Upon investigating I found a small piece of metal I'd used to try to jury-rig a radiator leak seal had been left loose in the engine compartment and had fallen into one of the two cooling fans. Then i noticed my combined radiator cap//thermostat was lying on top of the valve cover. I went back and was received unsympathetically. The next day, while working under the hood, I observed that the front grille of the car adjacent to the radiator had been left unscrewed, the screws nowhere in sight. So a few minutes ago I went back to Honest Auto Care and spoke with the manager, explaining that in addition to the combined radiator cap/thermostat having been left on top of the valve cover and the metal piece I'd used to try to jury-rig a repair having been left somewhere in the engine compartment and then having fallen into one of the two radiator fans, I'd subsequently discovered that they'd left the front grille near the radiator unscrewed. In the course of the discussion, Paul, the manager, falsely claimed I'd said the car would be picked up the next day, which is a ridiculous notion since, as I told him, I live in the car. He replied to the effect that I have his sympathy but maybe I should get a job, and in reference to either screwing the grille back on or issuing a refund, he informed me sternly that "Sir, we're done on you, please leave" and threatened to call the police if I return. I did mention that I'm very active on social media, and his response what that some liability may be involved if I post negative remarks; I responded that perhaps I should look into what liability is available to a paying customer whose car was left disassembled. He told me to please leave or he'd call the police. So I'm out $60 for nothing but frustration and insult. read more

I had my mother's car towed to honest 1 auto. I informed them what the problem was and they wanted to charge me for something totally different. After I discussed the issue with A. Vafadar he charged me for service I did not ask for. I do not recommend this Auto shop to ANYONE. You can take your car there for one problem and they will try to charge you for other than what you brought the car in for. H-1 is in my neighborhood, even though I was skeptical, I decided to use them to fix a cut/flat tire (ran over an utility knife blade) vs. spending $600 on a pair of new tires. H-1 was upfront, honest and easy to work with. Paul & Suno kept me informed on work & cost. Tire was fixed within 1.5hrs (no rush & I did not wait). Cost was same as quoted. H-1 even installed and put spare back under SUV; made sure all tires were inflated correctly, even the spare. Able to return FixAFlat to parts store; like saving $13!! Very pleased -- the quote 90 minutes, but finished in 60...and at a much better price point. YOU BETTER CALL.... Paul! I needed a nail in my tire fixed and fixed kind of fast. I called around and they either didn't work on rental cars or they had a 2 hour wait. I called Honest 1s and spoke with Paul and he was very nice over the phone and answered all my questions and they were able to get me in as soon as I drove up. The waiting area has a kids area in it (even though my son isn't with me, this is a great thing to have if you do have the little munckins with you). It even has its own TV for the kids. The waiting area is very clean and inviting and the customer service was top notch. I didn't need much done, but it is nice to have something so close and so willing to help me out. read more

I've called multiple Virginia Tire & Auto locations along with this location to see if emission inspection was available because I wanted to go to the short-distanced location from where I live. One of the Virginia Tire & Auto near me located in Southern Walk Plaza told me over the phone that the inspector will be there until 9am which wasn't hard to believe since they always have a specific time of when they have their inspector. I left my house and arrived by 7:45am only to hear that he actually comes at 9am and leaves at 5pm. Not wanting to wait an hour, I left. This isn't the first negative experience I've had with them. I immediately left for Honest-1 just like before. They took in my car immediately and got it done within 15-20 minutes. They even offered me coffee while I was waiting. Because of my young age, many businesses treat me differently but here, it seems staffs are all great and friendly to EVERYONE. Dropped my truck off for shock replacement and a new exhaust. They quotes me $350 or so over the phone for the shocks. Appointment at 8. At 3 I get a call saying the work would take 14hrs and cost $1900. Yeah... that's a hard no. All day to tell me the job they said would be $350 is actually a whole heck of a lot more. Wasted my time and lost me as a customer. The work I needed would take any mechanic 6hrs tips to do. Don't waste your time with an appointment. If they say drop it off at 8 for an 8am appt... that means they'll put it on the list of cars to do that day. read more

I did not have an appointment, but they were able to take my car back immediately, and confirmed that they always try to do their best to fit walk-ins. They answered some other questions I had, and at no time did I feel that they were making a sales pitch. I have used this company over the last two years for tires, oil changes, bulb replacement, inspections with no issues, today was a totally different story! I made an appointment a week and half prior to bring my vehicle in for rotors/brake pads, oil change, I was told the parts would be ordered and was provided with a quote, they had not ordered anything, was told the quote was only good for 24 hours, however no one advised me of this, they raised my price by $100, told me I would have to wait 2 hours for the parts to arrive from Landover, MD, the man at the front desk was arrogant and very obnoxious beyond anything I have ever encountered, making an assumption that I was clueless and did not understand the process, needless to say I took my keys placed a few calls and had my brakes and oil change completed in an hour and half, no issue in having the correct parts, ($125 less) I will never return to this establishment and will share my experience with anyone who mentions their name! I've gone to this shop several times for minor things on my vehicle: headlight out, brake light, safety inspection, emissions, turn signal not working, and oil changes. They are always nice and polite. I feel they can usually get you in as a walk in fairly quickly and they do the work much faster than the other chain place I used to go to. I don't feel as though they've been high pressure like I've experienced at other places. They'll tell me my tires are getting low and to think about replacing them in the next 6 months or that my rotors are warped, so wobble, but it's not a safety issue not to replace them, instead of using scare tactics. They've also done several small things free of charge when I've mentioned them, such as switch out my map light bulbs and my turn signal bulb and replaced fuses. read more

I came to this place for some basic service and just to look at the car I was charged more than a normal Diagnostic fee plus I was giving over $1300 estimate for other things. I knew my car wasn't in that bad condition so without thinking twice i took my car to another auto-shop and they charged me less than $100 and passed my inspection. I went for state inspection and they told me that fog light assembly need to be replaced and failed the inspection. They gave the estimation about $440 ($315 parts and $125 labor) for the fog light assembly replacement. I got my car and took to some other auto shop and the issue was only with fog light bulb (not fog light assembly) and they just replaced it for $25 and took the car back to honest-1 for the inspection and they passed it. I will never go again here again. Please think twice before going here for any inspection. read more

I figured out the scam here after I got hit TWICE with it at this location: They tell you it's a $400 problem. That's fixable and affordable, so you let them do it. It doesn't completely fix the problem, though; oh, that's ANOTHER $550. I'm not going back. That, and when I told them that I had the same part replaced less than a year ago, it apparently didn't occur to them to suggest that I contact the other mechanic to find out about warranties.
