I have mixed feelings about this moving company. The movers themselves were excellent--hardworking, professional, efficient, and genuinely helpful throughout the move. I have no complaints about their effort or attitude. My issue is with the final bill. I was quoted approximately $440 for the move, but the final charge came out to $810--nearly double the estimate. What makes this especially confusing is that there were no major changes to the scope of the move. The moving truck was parked directly outside both my old apartment and my new apartment, so there were no long walking distances involved. There was also no significant traffic, and the drive between locations was only about 22 minutes. For instance, I was charged $100 for gas, when the total round trip distance for the movers was about 30 miles. In fact, after the movers left my old apartment, I departed roughly 15-20 minutes later and still arrived at the new apartment before they did. Additionally, I personally helped with the move the entire time, which should have reduced the amount of labor required and saved time. Another concern was that after the move was completed, I was told the movers were going to get the paperwork, but they didn't return for nearly 30 minutes, which was added to the total time.  Again, the movers themselves were great, and I appreciated their hard work. However, I'm struggling to understand how a move that was quoted at $440 ended up costing $810 with no major changes, no traffic delays, minimal walking distance, and my assistance throughout the process. When I questioned the owner about the large discrepancy, he would not explain how the final bill had nearly doubled from the original quote. Instead, he repeatedly stated that his prices were lower than "anybody in California." While that may or may not be true, it didn't address my concerns or provide any transparency regarding the charges. The movers were great, but the lack of a clear explanation for the pricing leaves me feeling disappointed and concerned about the company's transparency. read more

This review is 2 years late, but now that we're moving again, the action item to write it has come back to mind. (Sorry for the delay, Simon!) We used Honest & Fast Movers in July 2020 to move from SoMa to Russian Hill in San Francisco. I was initially nervous about the job since the booking process with them was much less formal than it would have been with a bigger-brand moving company. But they showed up exactly on time on the scheduled moving day, negotiated with some employees at our origin building to move a dumpster and make room for their moving truck right in front, wrapped all the big items in our loft (heavy/bulky furniture, plants, large framed art, etc.), and loaded out with calm efficiency. At the destination address (a 2nd-floor walkup on a fairly steep slope), they again found a spot right in front, set up cones on the street to guide traffic around the truck, and then lugged every last piece up our stairs and into our new home. This included gigantic media consoles, solid-wood desks, substantial seven-foot sofas, etc. One of the movers even helped me reassemble our dining-room table, because he could tell it was going to be a challenging job without an extra pair of hands in the mix. In all, the move took a full day and cost within a stone's throw of the initial estimate. Simon and crew were communicative, friendly, focused, and best of all--careful! We didn't notice any new damage on our walls or furniture pieces (not even the gigantic over-wide bookshelf that they had to sneak up the staircase at juuuust the right angle to get it in at all). Per usual mover expectation, these guys also charged me more than the initial quote as other people mentioned below. I was aware that the price was an estimate but when I chatted with a guy on the phone initially, he said that prices are FIXED, and not hourly. When a second guy came to pick up boxes, he said he needed to charge more plus it would be HOURLY. What's worse is that they were so slow with moving and eventually I had to put my sleeves up and physically moved boxes with them. What's the point of hiring movers when you need to physically move stuff? This was for me to avoid extra cost but it still came out with $$$. Also, they were trying to charge me with extra fuel or something, and I had to clarify again how it was supposed to be a fixed price. At the end, I was so tired from moving with them that I just paid and walked away. One thing I appreciated was how careful they were with furnitures and that they were on time. However, I still found some dents and scratches on my bed frame which is still really annoying. Plus they scratched some part of the floor. If you're trying to hire movers, think about asking friends for help or renting a truck! I wished I've done this since the moving service wasn't that professional anyways. These guys are great! We hired them to move our 4 bedroom + home office from San Francisco to Menlo Park. Our home in SF was extra tough - it was a three story home with a flight is stairs at the entrance. These guys didn't miss a beat -- within minutes they were quickly and carefully getting all our heavy furniture and boxes loaded into the truck. At our new home, they made sure everything was reassembled and set up exactly how we wanted it. First off I was very impressed by how quickly they got back to me. It felt very easy to get set up for the move with them, very straight forward. I've dealt with movers before who made certain things feel like pulling teeth, but these guys were the opposite of that. Terrible movers, do not use. I wish I had never booked them. First one of them showed up without a mask. Fine, I was vaccinated, but not very professional and inconsiderate of others in my building. Second, they required a drill to disassemble my bed frame. Fortunately I had one, but they had advertised services as disassembling and reassembling furniture, a drill is pretty standard equipment to do that, how do they not have one on hand? Again, unprofessional and unprepared. Third, they forgot my dresser. I will say I also did not notice it until it was too late, so I guess that part is partially on me. Fourth, I left the drill at my old place because I needed to take down some things later. They failed to tell me they would need it to reassemble the bed, so I had to go back to my old apartment to fetch it, this wasted valuable time that I could have been unpacking. Furthermore I would not have been able to leave if it were just me but fortunately I had a friend helping who could stay while I went to get the drill. Again, wtf movers show up supposedly prepared to assemble furniture without a drill? Fourth, and this is the final straw, I just discovered a HUGE gash in my very expensive teak headboard. Obviously made while assembling or disassembling the bed frame, as it's at the joint of the frame . Didn't notice until now because my night stand had been blocking it. It is very noticeable and both destroys the look of what was supposed to be a lifelong furniture piece as well as any resale value. I am furious. There is no way the movers could have not noticed this assembling it as its literally right there, and they did not alert me to it when it happened, so much for being "honest". I wish I had never booked them, and am waiting for a response about the bed frame. I do not know if it is fixable and the move cost less than the bed frame. I wish I had paid with credit card so I could get a refund from my credit card company as this was a totally unprofessional and bungled job from start to finish. Update: I contacted the company and Eddie (I believe he's the owner) arranged to have the headboard repaired, which took about a week and a half. The wood is now patched where the chunk was ripped off. Fortunately the headboard was reclaimed style so already had purposeful patches or else this would have stood out. I've also added another photo where you can see the chunk was obviously ripped out while trying to remove a peg while dissembling the bed...there is no way the movers did not notice this when it happened and purposefully hid it from me (and also I never found the chunks of wood ripped out either in my old or new apartment so I guess they disposed of the evidence too!) Eddie was apologetic and communicative but also suggested that the guys who did my move that day were new and that's why...ok, so train them better? If they can't do a competent job don't use them. Or at least instruct them to be HONEST when they break something. If I hadn't moved my nightstand I wouldn't have noticed and honestly, it still pisses me off. We all make mistakes, but don't lie about it. I feel like I should have been offered a refund of at least partial of the cost or the tip. If I had known they took a chunk out of my bed at the time there is NO WAY I would have tipped the guys $60. As it was, I probably shouldn't have anyways considering they didn't even have the tools to do the job I hired them for when they showed up. I'm relieved my headboard is fixed and that due to the nature of the furniture it doesn't look stupid with a patch, however, I am still extremely dissatisfied and wish I'd never booked them and would never recommend them to anyone. read more

After being defrauded of $2300 on my debit card by Move Central (a scam company based in San Diego), I am so glad we were able to find such an honest moving company such as Honest & Fast Movers (heavy emphasis on the "Honest"). Everything was on the up-and-up; the estimate was reasonably close to the final bill, and the owner was on-site to help in all aspects of the move. There were no bait-and-switch tactics like Move Central pulled on us, trying to charge us three times the estimated quote and then holding all my belongings hostage for 8 hours. When I refused to pay the extra $2000 they were demanding, they actually abandoned all of my belongings in the parking lot of my apartment building and then proceeded to defraud my debit card of $2300 in unauthorized charges! Thank you, Honest & Fast Movers, for saving the day. We will be suing the other moving company for the unauthorized use of my debit card. read more

The movers were good - they were very careful when moving in and out of our locations but were on the slower side. I called them for a quote, but at the end - the final came out to be 30% more. This was due to them charging for the hour that they needed to drive back to the warehouse. Even though they start the time when they arrive at your first pick-up location, they continue charging for cleaning up the truck (folding blankets, etc.) and for driving back to the warehouse (which they wouldn't disclose the address, but said it was about 45 minutes away). So in total, they charged an extra hour after they delivered and dropped everything off. Would not recommend as the pricing is not transparent. They also charge for gas and packing items. read more

Covid-19 is not the time when you want to be moving but it was when I was moving. A couple of weeks before I needed to move, I saw Simon working down the street from my house and took a picture of their truck. I called and got to make an appointment for when I thought I had to move. Due to complications I had to put it off over the weekend. Simon and Eddy were able to accommodate my schedule and we got some very heavy, awkward shit moved into a maze of stairways and doorways. Simon is the BEST MOVER IN SF BAY AREA!!! Hands down. Let me tell you why... #1 Prices. Due to the economy, everyone is worried about prices and they are willing to cut corners to get a better deal. Simon's prices are FAIR. They are not the most expencive, and they are not the cheapest, but I have assurance that my items are going to be safe and unharmed. He charges by the hour and he is never the type of mover that takes their sweet ass time so he can get paid more. #2 If something were to happen to one of my items like my TV broke or a chair was ripped, Simon is INSURED. Thats right. Most movers are not insured and if they break your $1000 flat screen 3D television, you are screwed. If Simon breaks the $1000 TV, (which I dont think he has ever broken or damaged anything large) he will hand you the money to replace it with a new one. #3 They are FAST. I have seen this guy and his crew of very nice, intelegent, polite young guys pack a house drive it to the storage facility, and pack the storage unit to the ceiling is about 4-5 hours. TOPS! And he is packing a larger storage unit, like 10x10 or larger. #4 Simon listens to what you need and want. If you want your items packed a certain way, tell him and he will do it that way. You want him to pack your storage unit to the ceiling because you arn't going to access it, or if you want him to only pack the storage unit so the boxes are at eye level, he can do that too. You have a big expencive antique piano, that was your great great grandmothers...Simon will treat that piano like it was given to him by his great great grandma and make sure it is packed, protected and moved right. Please dont be a victim of the cheap, uninsured movers. Simon will respect your items and follow your lead with your requirments. We all know how much time and money went into buying your items in your home, so dont risk them getting damaged with carless movers, and just call Simon!! read more
