I was skeptical reading all the bad reviews but we were lucky to not have any of those issues. I have tried honest in Ahmedabad and it was always my go to place for Pav- Bhaji and Pulao. In the US, we have tried honest in NJ and Dallas and I was super excited when they opened in LA. When we went the first time they were not transparent about their hours of operation and it differed from yelp hours and google hours so I was really upset. That's the reason I removed one star. Having said that our visit this time was perfect. We did not have to wait for being seated and the service was good. We tried Pav Bhaji, Pulao, Hakka Noodles and Pani Puri. Everything was good but definitely hands down Pav Bhaji was the winner. It reminded me of Ahmedabad. I liked the Pualo but I did feel like it was not spot on for the spice. Hakka noodles and pani puri was decent but nothing exceptional. My friends tried the Falooda for desert and really liked it. I am looking forward to coming back and trying the Punjabi thali, Indian bhakri Pizza and maybe the vadapav. If you want to try one thing here, I would definitely strongly recommend Pav Bhaji. I do hope that with time they can establish the place a little more so more people can have a positive experience with less waiting times and better service. read more

Honest of India and this place are miles apart in terms of distance and apparently taste. Pizza was so bad that we couldn't go past one bite. The base was so hard that you can play frisbee with it. I placed a food order on 1/1/2023 at 8:51 pm for 4 Rotis, 1 kadai paneer, and 2 Szechwan fried rice. The food was extremely terrible to taste and the curry was filled with oil. I called in at 11:03 am on 1/2/23 if they could redo or refund. The person in the photo (Pratik) stated they don't do any refund or help if the food is bad. So I went in to see if I could talk with the manager and Viraj Jain (manager) wasn't in the store, so I asked to call him. Over the phone call, he mentioned they don't recook orders if it tastes bad. I stated it was unethical to be in the hospitality industry then. He went on to say F*** Off and do want I want to do and won't recook or refund. One of the best Pav Bhaji you can have near Orange county. They even adjust the spice level as per your need. I had Honest special Pav Bhaji and it also had nuts (unusual in Pav Bhaji, but tastes good). I also had Pani Puri and Pani had amazing taste. But I couldn't enjoy it to the fullest as Puris couldn't hold the water.. wasn't strong enough (that's the reason am taking a star off from the review). Being a Samosa lover, I usually have it in most of the restaurants and this one was good too. Potato filling had spices in it ( and I love it that way). Manchurian dry was also amazing.. completely cooked and also had it's Indo Chinese flavor. Although the order almost took more than 45 mins :( PS:- If you are going on a weekend, be prepared for long wait... The host was kind and the food had excellent flavor and perfect heat I've been to a few states around India and I will say their food tastes authentic to my time spent there. It was pretty bad food besides the aloo paratha. The dosa was not great. Chaat was very soggy.Customer service was terrible, server was disinterested and was practically sleeping. My husband and I have been wanting to try Indian food so we stopped at this restaurant. We had to look on the internet to know what to order because the the menu had no pictures and it took an unusually long time for anyone to come take our order. The staff was not very friendly. No one came to great us, explain the menu or tell us about the dishes. Finally, the guy who was cleaning tables came and asked what we wanted. After the food was served no one came to check on us. By far, the WORST restaurant experience I have had to date. We arrived at 6:30pm tonight. They said it would be approximately 20 min for a table. Having a little one, we were hoping for a quick dinner. At 7pm they called to inform us a table was ready. The table was not ready and we ended up waiting an additional 20 min. We ordered 5 items and after an hour of being seated one item had yet to arrive. We let the staff know 6 times. SIX TIMES!! The only response I kept getting was, "oh, extra?" - No, not extra. Just my original order I have been waiting on this entire time. Food wise - the Dahi puri, the Dabaang dosa, and the Pav Bhaji are things worth raving about. Service - the worst you can even imagine. Tables are not cleaned properly. The booth seats were dirty and I wiped them down before sitting. Staff seemed dysfunctional not knowing where the food orders went and prioritizing which customers were seated and ordered first. I watched countless tables sit after us, get their orders in before ours, and eat and pay all before my dinner items fully arrived. 9pm and my pav bhaji arrived. With a baby in car seat, how exactly do they expect families to eat here and be excited about coming back?! While the food was up to the hype, the service crushed just about everything this place has going for it. From start to finish it was just awful. I'm not sure I've ever been to Artesia before. This was a girls adventure to try out some new vegan Indian food. We had to pay for parking on the streets like $1.50 fairly easy never seen a Parking meter like this before. Then we walked into beautifully Indian restaurant with many modern features. Greeted by a very good looking Indian man. He sat us down and helped us order a little bit of everything .Each bite was so different and so delicious ! He talked us through each and everything that we got. I can't rename the stuff that we got But I will show you pictures. For three people the meal cost about $45. I made sure before we left to get him to teach us some Indian dance moves. He passed the torch to his coworker and she got up and showed us!! It was awesome !!!!Now for sure I'll be able to cut rug at the next Indian party I get invited to !They actually invited me to go to the New Year's party at the restaurant I'm seriously considering going ! *Please Reconsider Going Here* This Indian restaurant chain opened a few months back in L.A that brings us here to have the Pav-Bhaji for which it is known and considered a speciality. Being have tried the dish at several occasions and multiple places by far this was the worst experience with Honest Pav-Bhaji. The taste of the Bhaji has remained consistent across all the chains so far including the New Jersey branch but the food served here was sheer disappointment! I resent my decision of coming to the place and would advise others to value your health, food satisfaction and value for money over the nostalgia of eating at this place being one of the favourite restaurants to eat all the years growing up. The restaurant needs to improve their food taste and quality. In L.A a $10 dish would be something which is sufficient for a one time meal(atleast) at the same time the $10 Pav-Bhaji which I am ready to pay for as a price of my nostalgia but the consequent food taste spoiled the love for the dish! Please reconsider if you feel the urge to try this place out! I visited here for 4 times and every freakin time, we just waited for table for almost 20 mins which was already empty and no one was there. Waited for additional 15 mins for waiter to get us menu. Additional 15-20 mins for water. Additional 35-40 mins for food and for TO-GO food additional 40mins. Manager don't even know how to manage customers. Even though tables are empty, he wont let you sit and after 15-20 mins he will set you up at the same table. Worst service and good food. My goodness, please avoid this place unless you are seeking a stomach bug (that tortured our entire family) because of the extreme grease, staff yelling at each other and not displaying a single ounce of care towards guests, or a filthy bathroom. The prices at Honest seemed very high ($16-18 for curries w/o rice or naan), but the food was good, and had good portions. Their version of Navaratna Korma was very different from those I've had elsewhere, but quite tasty! The Aloo Gobi and Palak Paneer were both very good, and the Naan was very generously sized and well cooked. The only dish that wasn't as tasty was the Mutter Paneer, which had a really thick layer of ghee on it, and was a bit lacking in peas (plenty of Paneer though!). read more

My family and I went to Honest yesterday and all I can say is it was AMAZING. The food is super delicious and brought back memories and tastes from India. It's their first week of opening so it's only fair to give them some slack on service. It's all made fresh to order.
