I am not sure why Honest doesn't have great reviews as I've always enjoyed it whenever I'm there. I usually order takeout but I opted to dine-in and am glad that I did- the service is great IMHO and the samosa chaat/puris with paneer makhani were awesome. Came here with my bf and we ordered samosa and spring rolls I know very simple however not so simple he is vegan and has had many many samosas in his time and this was his first visit here not mine I've actually eaten here a few times I used to work next door. He got 2 samosas and he said they were the best samosas he ever had they were a great size fresh and filling! I got the spring rolls and they came with a spicy sauce on the side and originally I thought they were going to be pieces but it was two regular sized rolls and they were freshly made crispy and amazing in taste. The Punjabi Thali was delish. I like to have an assortment of tastes and even though I didn't know exactly what the assortment of foods were, I like trying different tastes. This is not for the spice aversion crowd. Takeout was like opening a Christmas present. The anticipation of unwrapping the layers in the box was fun. The naan and the cracker like bread (sorry I don't know the proper name) was wrapped carefully. The cute box was well wrapped and insulated w aluminum foil. I had a craving for Indian, but specifically, a dish similar to Saravana Bhavan so I was did a search on Grubhub for nearby spots in the area and I came across Honest. Based on the menu provided they had a pretty good variety. I decided to Rava Dosa Marsala. Ordering and delivery went smoothly and respectfully. When I opened the package, I loved that the condiments were packaged separately. Personally, the potatoes were awesome, but the rava dosa hit the spot. The rava dosa especially the not so soggy parts was doused in ghee and boy I do miss my ghee. The portion was deceptively large, I had leftovers, which tastes better the next day. I learned that this spot is walking distance, but it's two blocks down from Singas (see previous review) therefore, I can work an appetite to get additional dosas and come back and enjoy it. read more

While we came to celebrate a special occasion, the experience left a bad taste. After paying for our meal for 4 people ($117 +$10 tip), we quickly realized that was almost double the price we normally pay there. Before we made it out the door, I realized that they had over charged us. They had snuck in a $24.99 charge for 1/2 gallon. When I questioned it and asked for a refund, the server questioned if we bought a 1/2 gallon of ice cream. I was beyond shocked. I mean we had literally just finished our meal that he serviced us for. While asking for a refund, I also realized that he never informed us that a gratuity was charged (almost $17) and we gave him additional $10. We have no problem tipping but that is very sneaky to take an additional $10 on top of the $17 already charged. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ask them to print your bill before paying instead of them forcing to use their devices. We had originally walked away paying $127 after tip for a meal that should have been $67+tax/tip. read more

Once I saw the recent reviews I should have known better than to check out this place. Maybe it was good at one point in time but it's definitely hit a decline. The dishes tasted the same especially the indochinese and after request to waiter multiple times to get masala tea from the menu, he then agreed to talk to the manager for tea. I had a horrible experience yesterday at this restaurant. The server spilled hot sambar on my hands , mishandling the food. Instead of being apologetic and offering first aid gave a nasty attitude stating it was my mistake. The owner replies to me on my Google review that it was not his servers fault , passing hot food over a small child's head instead of walking around the table and setting the food to the correct guest. My 5 year old child could of gotten into an accident . Instead of owning up and taking accountability of your actions , I m being told " my servers are well trained " I have a first degree burn on my hands, and if first aid was offered , then it should pick up on the camera with some one with a first kit in their hand " . Going to give my honest review of Honest. The vegetarian dishes taste good but are overpriced. If I buy like 3 dishes its almost $60. The faloodas are way too icy: the semiya/vermicelli isnt cooked well (it's not supposed to be crunchy), and the chia seeds are frozen & stuck together. If I were to give a review just based on the falooda, it might be a 2. I went here on Friday night with my mommy we ordered chhole bhature and veg Hakka noodles. My mother whose highly picky and always hesitant to eat outside loved their chhole bhature and she finished it within 10 mins. For $9.99 they're giving you two huge bhature and 1 gulab jamun. The Hakka noodles were fine nothing exceptional but not bad at all. We did a take out for veg masala grill sandwich and samosa chaat. Oh lord those were good I fell in love with the samosa chaat. The food was full of flavor and per my mom it had home taste to it. The store owner was nice and respectful as he made the effort to come ask us how we are doing. I would say my only complain was the customer service. I had to ask quite few times for things because no waiter really came to ask if we are doing fine. That can surely be fixed just need to improve customer service. But food is great and location is easily accessible by car and bus (Q43 and N22). Great food and service. Mysore Masala Dosa and Paneer 65 is a must. Grilled Bombay sandwich is a nice big portion but not something I would order again. Dabeli was very good, a very small portion where they cut the sandwich. They did not have Sweet Lassi when we went and they only had Mango Lassi which was still excellent. The restaurant is not the same as it used to be. The pau bhaji doesn't take like what it used to be and even after asking for a medium spiced pau bhaji we got something tat was ridiculously spicy. Even the other items tat we order regularly like the noodles and Manchuria don't taste like used to. Hopefully they know tat they need to go back to the good food they used to make or they will not last long in that location where there are many other options. Ordered from this Hillside location twice and both times were a total dud. One time it was a grilled veggie sandwich and another it was the Triple Schezwan fried rice. The veggie sandwich was soggy, had no flavor and was cold, like not properly toasted. The triple schewan fried rice was even more of a disappointment. They basically gave fried rice with way too much soy sauce, no Hakka noodles and a sad side of ONE cold and whole (not cut up pieces like it normally is) Manchurian ball in tasteless gravy. Triple fried rice means you have three elements - rice, noodles and Manchurian. I've order this same dish at the Hicksville location and its always the best!
