Horrible. Waited 10 minutes for someone to even come to the table. My omelette was over cooked and rubbery. The hash browns were cold and pancakes were as thin as paper and not cooked all the way. We barely ate a thing because of this. We told the manager when we paid our bill about this and all he did was give us a very nonchalant "I'm sorry". Usually would have given this breakfast spot a 5 today was not that day. We come here pretty frequently, love the pancakes and the skillet. Today the service was spotty at best, the food even worse, cold pancakes, I asked for fresh hot pancakes , they come and now they are not cooked all the way, the server is pleasant enough, never refills my glass is ice tea, my party goes to the car while I have to wait almost 15 mins before the check comes. I tell the hostess the service was ok but the food was not cooked well and we had to keep sending it back... Her response.. Well we are kinda of busy today. My wife and I went in on a Saturday morning we had a great experience. Amanda was our server.... Side note: I've been a director of operations for a restaurant group in DC for the last 12 years and she was probably in my top 5 best servers I've ever seen: Amanda was very attentive, cheerful, knowledgeable of the menu, and assertive. Big deal for me is cleanliness and appearance and that they have from the bathrooms to the floor the staff and the parking lot A+. Overall the whole staff was cheerful and pleasant,,, been there a few years ago when I moved to Naperville and it was older women kind of burnt out going through the motions still gave a good experience but there was a change the day I went and it was great. My wife had an egg white Omelette that was cooked perfectly was not underdone or burnt on one side. She had a side of bacon that was cooked well too not too fatty and edges weren't burnt to a crisp and good consistency. I had a daily special (forgot the name) it was a wheat toast with avocado and spiced ricotta cheese spread and that was creative and fantastic not like most boring diner type items high fives on the creativity. DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS LOCATION - MANAGER HAS NO CONCEPT OF CUSTOMER SERVICE My family and I went to Breakfast at Honey Jam on Boughton Road. This commentary is limited to this specific location. We all ordered our breakfast and waited quite a long time for it to be brought to our table. During our wait, the toast I ordered was brought to the table. This was the same toast brought to the table next to us but no one at that table ordered toast. I did os they brought it to me. I said I prefer my toast to be hot and served with my breakfast. They removed the toast. What seemed like an eternity (probably another 5 minutes or so), our breakfast was served. I had pancakes, eggs and bacon, all were cold. I did not get my toast. I called to the waitress and said my breakfast was cold, to remove it and take it off the bill as I was not going to pay for a cold breakfast. She obliged and returned with another plate of cold toast. Shortly afterward, the manager came to the table. You can tell he had an attitude. He said he did not appreciate that I told the waitress my meal was cold and remove it. When I tried to explain, he got all huffy and asked me to leave. My family left. read more

Had the Monterrey omelet- nicely prepared with a LOT of diced jalepenos but not enough chorizo or salsa. Coffee here is very good. Acceptable but not inspired breakfast fare. There's usually a wait on weekends and the prices are slightly higher than some of the competitors. I like Stevens best in DG. read more

Went here for the first time for a late lunch on a Monday. Place was not crowded and we were seated immediately. The greeter/cashier was very friendly. Our server came over very quickly to get our drink order and brought the drinks very quickly. It took her slightly longer to come back and take our lunch orders. The food seemed to take a little longer than it should to get to the table but it tasted really good when it did. I ordered a veggie, egg-white scrambler with hashbrowns and toast. The food portion was a very good size. My friend enjoyed his sandwich and was impressed that the waitress brought his soda refill without his having to ask. This was a big disappointment! I can get this same breakfast at any greek breakfast joint for half the cost. Scrambled eggs you can get these at any standard hotel continental breakfast. If you like dense sweet pancakes then you will love them, not for me. Biscuits and gravy.... gravy not so good. Easter Sunday 2014 8:00 am decided to stop there for a good breakfast for 3 adults...walked in and no waiting, it was early!...not alot of people there yet...our service was fine BUT the food was disgusting...weve been before for breakfast and had not issues, youd think for Easter they would be on their game!!! Eggs were suppose to be over easy and the whites were still runny...I had the Julian and the english muffin was as if it had been soaked in water...Truly a big disappinointment for a nice Easter breakfast...prices were an average of 9.99 for a smallish portion, so you would for breakfast especially expect it to be good, right? My husband and I have wanted to try this place for a long time, and I must warn everyone that it was easily the worst breakfast that we've ever had. Giving it the 1 star is too generous. My husband had the Greek frittata and it was sitting in water from the veggies and the hashbrowns were raw. He ordered pancakes as well, and they arrived 15 minutes after his breakfast. We were told that they had to make more batter.. I ordered an egg white Tuscan omelet and was served the omelet with egg yolks. The waiter told me that some yolk must have gotten into my omelet. Really love the ambiance of the restaurant but I don't recommend the omelette as it always fried too hard. Great breakfast selections but they draw quite the breakfast crowd. Parking is less than desirable as they share a lot with Portillos and butt up against the beginning of Portillos drive thru lane. Disappointing....Honey-Jam used to be one of our favorite breakfast places but the menu has changed. The breakfast burrito used to be the best item they had (imo) but now there are no beans, the chorizo was non-existent, stuff is glopped on the top instead of the side. We had to ask several times for our beverages and then I got regular iced tea instead of raspberry tea. The only people I thought were semi-courteous were the two at the registers...the hostess looked bored and our server was mostly non-attentive until we were pretty much finished. Considering the place was basically empty, that wasn't good. With so many places from which to choose, I doubt I'll be driving the 30 minutes to get there anymore. read more

The food was very good. The service was horrible. Not only was it slow (it was Sunday afternoon and not extremely busy) but the waitress dumped a tray of orange juice and milk glasses all over my wife. They cleaned up a bit and apologized but there was no effort to determine if anything needed cleaning. Nor was there anything comped to make up for the experience. It was somewhat compounded when another waitress passed by and said, "Oh, we got another one, huh?" We did not wish to "make a scene" so stayed relatively quiet, but we certainly expected more and probably would have received a better response at a Portillos hot dog restaurant than we did at this "up scale" cafe. read more

Used to enjoy this breakfast spot, but the last couple of visits have been very bad. The water glasses smelled as if the glasses had not been washed or washed in dirty water. There was a hair in my daughter's skillet (the second time this has happened). My husband's eggs were runny as if they had not been fully cooked, while my scrambled eggs were congealed and room temperature. Had a small dish of fruit, congealed eggs and just three half slices of toast with avocado and cheese on top. Not exactly a filling breakfast for $9.49! I've come here many times over the past few years so I think I know enough now to say what is working there and what is not. What works? I've always had very nice servers there. The coffee is better than most other breakfast places and they often ask if I want to take a cup to go, which is nice. Bacon is great. All pastry, pancake, waffle and sweet types of breakfasts have tasted very good; they appear to specialize in the sweet side of breakfasts. French toast cream cheese creations, wonderful! All the different kinds of pancakes have been good. But if you want eggs, this is not the place for it. We love trying omelettes at every breakfast place we go, and we have NEVER been able to enjoy the ones here. Runny or greasy is a way I would describe them. Scrambled eggs have tasted watery. We've avoided ordering egg dishes because of it. But stupidly, i try to order eggs benedict three times now, and this third time was my last. First - I will say that I always ask for my poached eggs to be poached WELL/Hard. I don't like runny eggs, which seems to throw off every server when I order eggs benedict but want the eggs cooked well. EVERY TIME I have ordered this, the eggs come out runny and have to be re-done. i don't totally get what the issue is, but it has happened three times. Second, when they brought out the last re-done dish, the eggs were cooked but the entire dish was drowning in sauce. Drowning to the point I had to fish out the food and move to another plate to eat it. The English muffin was soaking and gross. I ate the eggs and left everything else. And this was not the only time it came out this way. So long story short: Coffee, bacon and sweet breakfasts good. Egg dishes not so good. read more

Like most Portillo's-owned restaurants, the food is delicious, though not a good value. Even though it was crowded and very busy on a Sunday at noon, the wait was not long, and service was timely. A nice touch: when we were done, our server asked if we wanted free coffee to go. When we expressed surprise, she told us that since coffee comes with free refills, they offer free coffee to go when you are ready to leave. Makes sense. No one else does that, anywhere! I guess every place has its off days and today was their's. I've been here a few times before, and always received excellent service. However, today was not the case. I was seated right away but then waited between 5 to 10 minutes to get my order taken. Not terribly bad, really. The waitress, Michelle B was very busy, jumping from one table to another. But then I waited almost 25 minutes for my club sandwich to arrive with Michelle only stopping once to tell me she is still waiting for my sandwich. I told her I'm also waiting for it. Finally it arrived and it was just okay. The fries weren't piping hot but they were still edible. When I finished I waited again to ask for a box for the half of the sandwich I didn't have time to eat. (I had to get back to work.) I asked a passing wait staff for a box and was told to hold on as she continued passing by me. She never came back and I still wanted the box. Finally, Michelle stopped by and asked me if I wanted a container and I told her that I already asked some one and was still waiting for it. Her response was, "Well, you didn't ask me. So, do you still want it or not?" I told her I did and she left to retrieve one. When I arrived at the register, (I didn't have to wait long for the check, since that was promptly placed on the table shortly after the food finally arrived) the young girl behind the counter asked how everything was and I told her very slow because I had to wait almost 25 minutes for just a club sandwich. She just gave me excuses why the kitchen is so slow today as if it was acceptable to her. If the manager was around, I would have talked to her. But I couldn't wait. so I didn't ask. read more

Love the Honey Jam in Downers Grove so we thought it was great that one opened closer to our home. The food is was great (as good as Downers Grove location ... its' owned by Portillo's so we always have that expectation ... great food). The service, however, was abysmal. We went on a busy Sunday morning and were told it was a 45 minute wait. We expected a wait and had fit that possibility into our schedule. We checked with the hostess after our wait reached 55 minutes. She said "only 5 or 10 more minutes. It was 5. We ordered our food (only common egg dishes since were becoming pressed for time). When the food wait went over 25 minutes we queried our waitress. She disappeared. We flagged over a manager and asked about our food. While she didn't come back our food did arrive in 5 more minutes. Our waitress, sensing our anger only returned to bring us our check (mentioning that the manager had given us 10% off for our inconvenience). We'll stick to the Downers Grove Honey Jam (if at all). read more

My brother and I went to Honey Jam for breakfast on his last day in town. I had never been to the restaurant before, and I won't be going back. The food was OK, but the customer service from the management (Stephanie) was horrible. My brother and I had ordered a fruit bowls (not "fruit plates"). The fruit came served in bowls so, naturally, we THOUGHT we had received what we had ordered. It wasn't until we received the bill for fruit plates priced at almost $9 each that we has realized that the waitress had made a mistake. We brought it to the attention of Stephanie, the manager. She asked whether we had sent the order back. I told her that we hadn't sent the order back because we thought that we had received the item we had ordered, which was about half the price of the "fruit plate". Since it was our first time dining at the restaurant, we didn't know the difference, especially since it had been served in a bowl. Stephanie made the price adjustment on one of the fruit orders, but informed us that she couldn't do so for the other fruit order because we had not sent the order back. We hadn't sent the order back because we thought we had received what we had ordered, until the bill arrived! She even behaved as though she was doing us a HUGE favor by making the adjustment on ONE of the orders! Her attitude sucked, and I refuse to spend my money at Honey Jam ever again! I have been eating at this location from the very first day they opened. Over the years, the consistency has become non existent. Saturday September 6 2014, my entire order was messed up. I called once I got to work and the corporate office sent me out a $20.00 certificate to replace the order. I called the store back after I couldn't find the certificate and was told that Portillo's no longer owned the restaurant and to call Portillo's corporate office to see if they'll re send another one out and if I couldn't get help, to call the restaurant back and they would take care of it in house. Portillo's corporate office called me back today and said that they couldn't re send another certificate out because they no longer owned the restaurant. I called Honey Jam back and spoke to a male manager in which he stated he couldn't help me and they had no way to track my order or replace the certificate. It's a shame that I paid over $20.00 for a meal that was not eaten by anyone in my family. I will never patronize any honey jam location again................... read more

I wanted to have breakfast with an old friend on Thursday morning. I had heard that Honey Jam was under new management so thought we would give it a try. When did everyone that works there get so crabby? The hostess hardly acknowledged us; showed us to a table in a dimly light room, dropped the menus and walked away. The waitress stood at the table waiting for our order, never saying a word. When the order was delivered the food was monochromatic, all one color, not even a garnish or hint of color except egg yellow/white. But the most disturbing thing was that the hash browns were ice COLD. When we complained, the waitress, once again not saying a word, replaced them, dropping them on the table with not so much as a slight apology. To finish the experience, the cashier barked at us; no small talk, no caring how are experience was and most importantly, no "thank-you" as we paid. Nope, not an experience to remember! read more

My sisters took me for what was supposed to be a nice and fun birthday brunch and thinking we were going to go to a nice place. But when we got there we checked in at about 10:50 and we weren't seated until about almost 12 after being told it was a 25 min wait! Then after we were seated I ordered the pumpkin pancakes with scrambled eggs with American cheese and I ordered a grill cheese for my son and my sisters ordered the raisin French toast with scrambled eggs and the other eggs Benedict, we didn't get that till a little after one!! and when it did come my order wasn't even right I got a waffle and the waitress asked if I I wanted to send it back and I said no only because I already waited an hour for food from when we ordered and it had nuts on it and I do not like nuts my eggs tasted funky and the cheese looked like it was just slapped on at the end and it had mushrooms in it which I hate and it was cold in the middle! My sons grilled cheese didn't even lol like grilled cheese just looked like a regular cheese sandwich and my sisters eggs Benedict was cold. And my other sisters eggs had cheese when she didn't ask for it and also cold... Wasn't even a decent visit with the wait and the food and hearing a bunch of excuses short on staff I heard the table in back of us say they were light headed and really wanted there food and the waitress said that they're trying their best. And I felt horrible for the other customers having to deal with what we just did. And I also feel awful for our waitress because it obviously wasn't her fault and I couldn't imagine dealing with hungry angry customers but she did a good job for what she was dealing with but if the place was more organized and ran like an actual resultant I'm sure she would have been a lot better! I am very disappointed with the service and food! I got food I didn't ask for would if I had an allergy? I'd be screwed wouldn't I! I'm not happy with this place at all! The restaurant was not even half full, but it took 7 minutes to get a server to come around. 15 minutes to get water and coffee after that. Never offered condiments, server never checked if we needed anything. Food was bland and disappointing for those of us at the table that got their food. My food didn't come, server didn't even apologize after admitting she didn't put it in the order. We waited, my pregnant wife barely touched her meal waiting for my dish to come. When it came, my medium steak was bloody & raw. Server's attitude was pretty blah again. So our parents ate, my food eventually came (server was in no rush to get it out - saw her meandering around the counter right after we asked) but we had to leave anyway so no breakfast for me. Some guy came out and stared at us without introducing himself - no clue who he was? Cook maybe? Asking if he could do anything, so I guess that was nice that someone eventually cared a little. Either way 2/4 of us didn't get to eat here so we won't be back. Since the new ownership the service is awful! Went on Father's Day as we do for most holidays. Waited 1hour for a table which I was fine with as it was a holiday. Once seated it took 15 minutes to get our drink order. We had to ask another waitress to find ours to order the drinks. Then another 20 minutes to order the food. Once we ordered it was 50 minutes to receive our food and that was after we complained. They also brought the food in shifts so I was done when the last person at our table was served. We had to ask for butter and syrup during breakfast hours. At the table next to ours 2 different families came, ate and left before we received our food. Also, we asked for a manager at one point and it took her 25 minutes to come to the table. We arrived at 8:45 and didn't leave until 11:45 (at least we didn't have to eat lunch then).
