Good food and great service!! Vicky was the best server I've had in a long time! (And made the BEST mimosas!!)

We went this morning, because we had a gift card. We got our table quickly, but it took about 10 minutes to get drinks (chocolate milk & lemonade). We finallly got to order, and after 45 minutes, we finally got syrup and butter. Another 20 minutes later, we got our food (omletes and pancakes), the pancakes were cold and hard, and the cheese on one of the omletes was like a brick. The eggs in my omlete weren't done. They brought out more pancakes that were "hot off the thing", and they were horrible. They tasted like sugar cookie batter. Took one bite. Waitress told us our bill had been comped, so we didn't need to pay (good thing! wasn't worth any $$). The people on the tables either side of us, one was there before us got their food after we did, and the ones on the other side just left. Even if I did live up here, I would never go back again. I was a regular customer there for the past 3 years. In the last month the food has taken a dramatic downturn without notification. Orange Juice is no longer fresh squeezed. the banana and pumpkin bread that was wonderful last year now just taste like thick dense dry bread, the bacon is thin and fatty, the ham is now taste like cheap water filled ham. The potatoes were mushy. These items were all reasons along with the service of why i visited weekly at least. I will be searching for new breakfast spot going forward. It is a shame it was a great place to go. Servers are good but food takes long to get out of the kitchen. I believe Portillos no longer owns it and the quality shows it. read more

Called half an hour ahead of time to get 4 gourmet pancakes prepared and during the call he didn't ask for my name for the reservation I had to remind him. Got there and they said the pancakes weren't ready, as we were on limited time we couldn't wait another half hour for pancakes. read more

Simply Great place, first time ever I enjoyed breakfast outside of the house. Server was very friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone. Try it one time and you will go again . only reason I didn't do 5 star coz she charged me for something which was part of meal but no biggie , I ignored just because food was great. read more

Forgot some parts of the meal, acted like everything I said was an issue, had to ask for everything separately, *cream, sugar, butter for my French toast* dropped off 2 packets of sugar and 3 creamers for a whole pot of coffee. This place is average, I work in bolingbrook and decided to give it a shot. I wasnt impressed but I wasnt let down either. The Chicken Harvest wrap is pretty legit. The portions are huge and theres no need to eat that much, so split a meal with someone and youll be good. As long as your expectations are realistic its fine. read more

This was a terrible experience. Sunday morning at 11:15, seated in 15 minutes. It went downhill from there. Order not taken for 15 minutes, then food emerged from the kitchen just after 12 (after we asked) and the meals had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp for some time. My over easy eggs were shriveled and dry. The pancakes had had some kind of unidentifiable brown stuff attached to the side. To the credit of management, they were apologetic without being defensive and comped the meal (which, considering the poor quality of the "food" was appropriate). Was there for Mother's Day breakfast and will never go back. When we got there, the hostess told my wife the wait would only be a few minutes. After 45 minutes, she asked the manager how much longer and was told we were next. Fifteen minutes later, she went back up to the manager and noticed our name had been crossed off the list. When she pointed it out to the manager and said we'd been waiting for an hour, the manager didn't acknowledge it or apologize. This is the second bad experience here. There are plenty of small business breakfast places in the area and would recommend those over this place any day. WILL NEVER GO BACK. read more

When I pointed that out to the host we were then seated in a back room with a large excited group when seats were available thru out the restaurant! Very disappointed on the rude service my family received on Monday. Does HoneyJam even train their employees on how to be nice, do they even have a training program. A family member asked for "water without ice please" and the waitress made a pissed off face with a very rude sound and said ugh when she brought the water back she slammed it on the table. Meh, this wouldn't be my first, second or even third choice for brunch again. Its OK. This place is run by Portillo's group and is located right behind the Portillos'. I admittedly was lured in by the potential of this place to be as awesome as Portillo's. Its not. Its a large place, but we still had to wait 30-40 min on a Sunday morning for a table for two. We waited outside since the place was crammed with people at the hostess stand. The decor is ....interesting... kind of like what my mom would have ideally picked for decor in the 1980's... large, slightly gaudy victorian/baroque looking. And its dark, which does not help me wake up in the morning, no matter how much coffee. Not really what you would expect given the more fun lively atmosphere of Portillo's. Anyhow, onto the food. OK, but not memorable. Plenty of it, way too much, which is about where the similarity to Portillos' ends. Nothing bad, just not great, not Portillos' great which is really what I was secretly hoping for. Ill stick to the cheese fries and Italian beef next door. read more

This is my first Yelp review. I don't make it a practice to give bad reviews of resturants, but this one certainly warrants some negative publicity. Now, my family and I have been to Honey-Jam a few times over the years. Unfortunately, we decided to eat breakfast there this morning prior to taking part of the family to the airport. We knew that all restaurants would be crowded so, upon arrival, we asked how long we would need to wait. They told us 15 minutes. Not bad. We decided we could wait. After 20 minutes we checked to see how much longer. The hostess said we were next and would only need to wait 5 more minutes. Another 20 minutes later, we went to check again, and complained that we had been given false information, to which we were met with a bunch of excuses, but no apology. We started exploring other restaurant options, but then our pager buzzed and we decided to stay. It had been 45 minutes. Now we were in a time crunch. The waitress understood our situation and got moving on our order right away (the only reason I provided one star). However, we still had to wait about a half hour for our food, and when it came some of it was cold. We asked for the bill and began scarfing down our food. When the waingress returned, we complained that some of the food was cold. She went to tell the owner. The owner came to our table and we described the bad experience. His solution was to replace the food, to which we told him that we didn't have time. His second solution was to give us a voucher for a return visit, to which we asked if he could just remove the cold items from our bill. He firmly told us "that's not going to happen". We asked why not and he told us that he never adjusts bills and that he had given us solutions... take it or leave it. When we questioned that policy, the owner became belligerent and told us to leave his establishment. He got loud and aggressively moved us out of our seats, barely letting us grab our belongings. The immediate over-the-top response by the owner was truly shocking. We weren't asking for anything outlandish, just to Not pay for food that was inedible. So, instead of just taking off a small part of our bill, he kicked us out without paying our entire bill. Not a smart move. And, not only will we never return to Honey-Jam, we will tell anyone and everyone how awful this experience was. read more

Stopped in looking fo a go to breakfast spot in our new neighborhood. It seemed busy and quite full for a late Sunday morning- seemed like a good sign. We had no wait and were seated right away. It was downhill from there. Our server was rushed. We felt like we had to hurry and order. I ordered a side with my meal. She said they didn't have that. I pointed it out on the menu. She made a comment that no one ever ordered that. Our food came out very fast. This is a good thing right? Well, my eggs were not fully cooked. Our server was nowhere to be found. We waited and waited. Finally we asked one of the busboys to call our server. She asked if I would take the raw egg off my food for her to bring out new eggs. Mind you, it was a skillet and the raw egg oozed onto the rest of the food. She was snappy when I asked if it would be okay if she had it all recooked. Long wait for new food. She dropped and walked away quickly. I didn't get a chance to tell her she took my silverware on the other plate. Waited again. More food forgotten. I gave up. Took a few bites and decided to leave. Poor service, long waits. With this said, I am a still looking for a good breakfast spot in Bolingbrook. read more

My family and I were planning to go to this location for a brunch for my Grandma's 70th birthday. There was about 15 people in our group. The day prior the hostess we spoke with instructed us to call about an hour ahead on the day we were planning to arrive..so thats what I did. When I called at 10:30 Saturday morning the very rude hostess- Jessica was her name I believe snapped and "snootily" said we dont take reservations! I explained to her that I know that and was just doing as instructed the day prior by another host. She abruptly told me to hold on and put Debbie( her mgr) on the line w/o any prior warning may I add. So I re explained to Debbie the reason for my call. She as well was not very welcoming and very un-accomodating! I was very agitated at this point. Decided to call the Downers Grove location-glad I did! Spoke to a girl who was very nice and friendly, explained that ans why they dont take reservations but and offered to put my group on a wait list. She then suggested that I speak to her mgnr- Suzanne who was SUPER warm and welcoming! I told her what I had dealt with with the Bolingbrook location and she was highly shocked. Needless to say that I alerted my family that we would be going to the downers grove location instead. They seated us all in about 15mins and the service was exceptional!!! Moral of my review..avoid the Bolingbrook location and go get quality service at the Downers Grove location..I guarantee you wont be disappointed. S.N. I live right down the street and I have to say I don't eat here for a reason. I've probably tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt like 3 or 4 times. I'll cut to the chase, I've seen servers tell their customers that they're being difficult., I've heard, what I can only assume is the female manager screaming at an employee at the front counter, I've heard employees flat out complaining about being there longer then they should. This place is on a slow and painful downfall. They purposely tell you a shorter wait time so you do not leave. You then get seated and it takes your server 8 minutes to get to the table, another 5 before you'll see drinks. Once the food arrives it's a 50/50 on whether it will be A. Hot and B. Good. Just a heads up about the wonderful service we received today at Honey Jam. Not only did the hostess seat us with pleasant conversation, but our waitress was the best. Unfortunately, I don't know what her name was, but I know she enjoyed gardening. We had a lovely breakfast of crepes. Their crepes are delicious! I really liked my server Dana not only did she make some really excellent food recommendations but let us know about the free WiFi an told me about some interesting animal websites that were very inspiring. I went here with the parents. I got the chocolate chip waffles they were delish. The hashbrowns were good as well. My parents got eggs and sausage and bacon. They said the bacon was chewy. Don't order the Green Goddess sandwich. We were in the party room with a group. A few of asked for special cooking instructions. I did not. The sandwich was supposed to have cheese in it and it did not. It was zucchini and spinach slapped on toasted bread. I asked for the manager after I ate half the sandwich. That was my mistake to wait until I ate half the sandwich. When she came she made a comment that this is the table with issues (paraphrasing, but that was the tone she set). I asked her if the sandwich is worth $13.99. She explained that the restaurant prices items according to the market prices. She did not apologize or show any contrition. She also said if I am looking for a discount she will do it this time but that I should tell them my dissatisfaction when the meal is served. Then she made an announcement to the whole table that they will always make meals to order when you ask in advance. There were three other people at the table that were dissatisfied with the meal that was originally presented. Again, I felt like I received a lecture and admonished for telling of my dissatisfaction. On the other hand our server was excellent. read more

My family and I have frequented here quite a bit. Overall it's decent food & friendly atmosphere. We have a toddler so we go early and there is never a wait. Yesterday was the first time I went I was pretty disappointed. Service seating us was good. We ordered. I got eggs Benedict with fully poached/hard eggs. Food comes to table and eggs were soft. I'm pregnant and can't eat runny eggs. First time ever I sent something back. What was weird though was the waitress wanted me to scrape my hash browns off my plate so she could take the dish portion back. I told her to just take it all back. She returned pretty quickly. Clearly the cook removed the runny eggs put new eggs on and put a ridiculous amount of sauce all over the dish....it was seriously inedible. Oh and I got the same hash browns back and they were cold. Frustrated I just picked off my husbands plate. I would have sent it back again but the waitress never returned. My kid was getting tired of sitting at the table so I took her out to the car. Another 5 minutes go by and my husband texts me saying still no service at the table. Really disappointed by this last experience. There are so many choices in the area--we will prob give this place a rest for a while. read more

The service was terrible. My sister ordered Julian's Benedict, which was served to her with bad, wilted, brown spinach. She ate half before discovering the quality of the sautéed spinach. When she complained to the waitress, the waitress was unhelpful and uncaring. When she asked for the manager, the manager said "What do you want me to do? You ate all of it." My sister then pressed for compensation and was only discounted $4.50- not even half the price of the meal. Went for a late breakfast with a girlfriend. I really was disappointed with how the quality of the food has really gone downhill. I ordered the pancake, scrabbled eggs and bacon. The pancakes where kind of on the tough side. I like them light and fluffy. The eggs and bacon were just okay. My girlfriend ordered an omelet and it had so much oregano it was not edible. I was here yesterday together with my sisters and her baby. When we came in someone from the cafe greeted us and asked us how many we were dining in. When she saw us with a baby sleeping in the stroller , she told us the strollers are not welcome and are harazdous. Was she just silly? Then she suggested to us to put the babt in the highchair instead....we would do that definitely if the baby was AWAKE.... Having only been here once about a year and a half ago, I thought I would take family over break. I am quite the foodie and have to admit, this is this first negative response to a restaurant. To be fair, I am not sure if it was service or the kitchen or both but I was embarrassed to have brought out of town family. First off, the waitress took drink orders and it took three tries for her to bring the right orders. There were 9 of us and she came back with 7. We told her, then she came back with 1 more and still forgot the other. His didn't come till the food. Then the food....it was all cold. I had the Monti Cristo that had been sitting out for awhile. Four people had hash Browns or in their skillet. They were RAW!! They were cold to the touch. We had to send them all back and the skillets had to be remade. The two skillets came back wrong...ingredients got mixed up between the 2. They were supposed to be scrambled but came over easy. We chose not say anything about that. Two kids had red velvet pancakes....they were rubber and you could tell they had been sitting.... barely could cut with a knife. After eating, we ordered a peppermint mocha to go....and again....it was freezing! The waitress felt the cup and she didn't get why and they had to remake it. I only feel the need to share really because this isn't a cheap breakfast place. You are talking meals from 9 to 12 dollars. Our bill for 9 of us was 130 without tip. In fairness, we did share our concerns with manager in a nice way. I didn't want to get anyone in trouble. She gave us a gift card for 25 to come back. Unfortunately, I gave it to someone in parking lot. I truly can't go back. With Southern Belles, Blueberry Hill, and many other local places with better food, I can't see going back. read more

After having spent 2 years trying to go here (the wait is ALWAYS long), we finally got in, and I can understand why. I love that they put a giant carafe of coffee on your table, and when I mentioned the need for a low-cholesterol item, the server and the manager actually calculated the percentages for me (pancakes @ 2%) for the various breakfast items. And the pancakes were perfectly yummy. Upon leaving, they offer each customer a to-go cup of coffee, tea, or water. I definitely want to return. read more

Good food and great service at a Saturday Brunch ~ 11:00 a.m. in Bolingbrook on Broughton. Since most of the lower reviews speak to that, I'll comment 1st on it. No waiting for a table for two, and the waitress checked back at least five times after taking our order. They do take reservations, The manager checked in as well. Spinach crepe was very good, vegetarian scramble was good. They have the Dutch Baby baked pancake on the menu, but it is a 25 minute prep. They have a call ahead service for it, so next visit I will give it a try. Décor is casual/upscale, broken up into several areas, fairly quiet. A wide mix of customers from families to senior couples. Prices are moderate to high for breakfast, but in line for the quality level of the establishment. read more

We visit the Honey-Jam in Bolingbrook every Saturday. There are five plus a baby in our group, and because this place has huge seating capacity, we rarely have to wait long if at all to be seated. The decor in the place is quite nice, and adds to the overall appeal. There are a variety of seating options, and there are smaller dining areas that create a cozy feel, even though the place is very large. We are big coffee drinkers - the coffee comes quickly, is delicious, and provided in a carafe that has no bottom. The staff is very attentive, friendly, and personable. They seem genuinely interested in providing great service and a great dining experience all-around. Even though we are there at one of the busiest times, our meals have always been served promptly, and at the proper temperature. We have had a wide variety of what the menu has to offer, and I honestly can't think of a time when any of us were not totally pleased with our meal. We regularly go out for a family breakfast every Saturday, as that is the only day of the week when we are all able to dine together. We have been to nearly all of the breakfast spots surrounding Naperville, and we have all come to the conclusion that Honey-Jam is our favorite spot. read more

This was my sister, my boyfriends, and I's first time trying this place and it was awful. We had a short older woman who seemed really annoyed to have us there. It took her about ten minutes to come over and when we ordered drinks we asked for waters too. Got the drinks never brought us water. After ordering our food we noticed after a half hour everyone around us who came WAY after us got their food and we didn't have anything. We had empty drinks and no server. She kept running by us staring but wouldn't tell us what was up or just ask if we wanted more to drink. Finally I got so angry I walked up to the host stand and she ran over and told me that my sisters food got screwed up and that was what was taking so long. I'm so baffled that I just had to walk away. My sister and I are servers too, if something gets messed up we get it but don't ignore us because we look like your average "teenagers". My boyfriend went over to the manager to complain and she was very nice to us. Apparently our server didn't tell her what was going on with our table because she was very genuine in her apology and also looked confused when we told her. She gave us a coupon to come back and comped our entire bill as it should have been. We had to take our food to go unfortunately because we had to attend classes! Which also made the situation worse. Wanting to eat out before class sounded like a great idea, which was unfortunately ruined by bad service. We will give it one more chance but probably try downers grove then here. read more
