One of the best homie breakfast places I've been too since I moved to Florida! The smell alone when you walk in is so refreshing and nice . Everything down to the coffee was more than perfect. Highly recommend the chicken fried steak ; The grits were perfect and the home fries were perfect to me because I like them on the crunchy side . The pictures of the food online definitely do not do it justice . You get great quality with a reasonable price . I was surprised how little we spent on how much food we got. In my never-ending quest for the very BEST Gyros, I've visited this restaurant many, many times. The gyros never fail to impress: the pita is warm and soft, the meat is plentiful, well seasoned, and appears to be sliced to order. The tzatziki sauce is house-made and inspiring. The onions and tomatoes are fresh chopped. I can testify that this is the best gyros that I've had in 20 years! To top it off, the staff are very friendly, attentive, and responsive! Entry and exit doors separated, writing utensils sanitized after every use, tables spread out, single use menus, and all of staff wears masks, and they wear it properly. Everyone I bring here ends up coming back by themselves or with their friends/family. I'm the "scrambled benedict guy". I used to manage a breakfast restaurant and after we closed down I started my search for the next best benedict in town - honey tree is it. I get their benedict with home fries (the deep cubes), and sometimes a side of white toast. Great staff, great food, and super reliable/consistent. Hands down the best place to eat. I always order either their western turkey wrap or their chicken salad in a pita. Turkey wrap hold the egg. Salsa and picante sauce on the side with fresh fruit. In a humongous wrap. Enough for two to enjoy also. Their chicken salad is creamy and tasteful stuffed in a pita and enough for two as well. They don't lack on portion control. Wait staff are very attentive and they make sure you always have a full cup of whatever you are drinking. Open early and close around 7. We dine usually between 7-10 M-F and occasionally on the weekends however this seems to be the busiest so we try to get there first. Waiting is not a big deal unless there are large gatherings. A recent dinner at Honey Tree re-affirmed what a great place this is and how lucky we are to have a family owned and operated restaurant in the Sarasota sea of chains and fast food joints. Two of us had the "special" of liver and onions ($9.95) and our friend the stuffed cabbage. Each came with a choice of soup or salad, a side and rolls for the table. My wife had the Gyro platter which looked delicious. Service was prompt and pleasant and the food hot. We commented to each other the fact that all four plates were completely cleared of food when we finished. There was not a morsel left on anyone's plate. Honey Tree has no theme, no flat screens, no server uniforms, no food runners, and no canned welcome speech. It does have good food, fair prices, and pleasant surroundings. read more

One of my favorite breakfast joints in Sarasota. Whenever I come here, I usually order the veggie omelette over a bed of potatoes. I've never had a plate here that I didn't like. I should also mention the grits they serve here are phenomenal. They have the perfect amount of cheese in them. The waitresses here are a mix. I've had servers that were great, and I've had servers that would give me the bill without even refilling my cup of water once. We tried this restaurant for the first time this week for breakfast. We had the usual bacon and eggs breakfast for one of us, and the other had biscuits and gravy. The eggs were very small, the bacon delicious, not too salty. The hash brown potato portion was HUGE, way too much for. me! But they were made from scratch and were really good. I had a recent trip to Sarasota and went twice, once when it was near empty and once when max capacity on a late Sunday morning. First time was a veggie burger takeout. Came out quickly and I was on my way. However, on the jam-packed Sunday was when they earned their stripes. They seated me as a single while tending to massive groups of like 10 and 12 diners. It's obvious this is a family run local institution. They appear to serve and treat everyone with class and style. They could have blown me off and they didn't. First, the hostess greeted us at the door and seated us right away. No sooner we were seated, our waitress arrived with menus and took our drink orders. I was very impressed as at this the restaurant was very busy with the morning rush (9:30a). I ordered 2 eggs over easy with bacon, home fries, rye toast and a side of their sausage gravy.
