On to my meal. When I go to a restaurant, I really appreciate--and usually expect-- freshly made food with fresh ingredients. I ordered the garden salad with strawberry vinaigrette which was excellent. I appreciated the extended list of unusual dressings and was not disappointed with this simple, fresh selection. I also ordered the onion soup which came with a nice helping of melted mozzarella cheese. I prefer a Swiss / gruyere combo on my onion soup but the menu clearly stated it was served with mozzarella so I accepted this second best preparation. The cheese topping was good but I was very disappointed with the broth. The broth tasted like it was a commercial canned or bullion base. The flavor got stronger as I reached the bottom of the bowl so I suspect a bullion that settled over the course of the meal and created a strong, somewhat over-powering flavor. I also ordered a side of onion rings. I enjoy fresh, thick cut onion rings that are hand battered and deep fried. The type where you take a bite and hot, fresh onion slides into your mouth with some of the crunchy coating. That is not the type of onion rings served at Ford's Garage. These were the frozen, dump them in a fryer like McDonald's fries, type onion rings. You can probably get them at Costco. We will visit this restaurant again and I'll see if I agree with my husband's "great burger" assessment. I'll let you know.

I ordered the all American burger, and my boyfriend bought the estate burger. We also paired it with some onion rings and some drinks! We asked if the fried egg that comes with the dish was sunny-side up and were told no, it would be fully cooked and the kitchen would not accommodate a sunny-side-up egg. That seemed unusually inflexible, but we said fine and ordered it as is. When the food arrived, the chicken was clearly not blackened. It was pale, with virtually no visible seasoning. Our waiter actually tried to tell us that the blackening had "fallen off in the sauce." We've had blackened chicken many times, and this simply wasn't blackened. To make matters worse, the egg that was supposed to come with the dish was missing entirely. We asked for the manager, who looked at the chicken and agreed that the blackening had washed off agreed that it did not appear to be blackened. He took it back, and the kitchen eventually sent out properly blackened chicken. Fair enough. But then the manager returned and tried to insist that the kitchen said the original chicken had been blackened and the seasoning had somehow come off in the sauce, even though he had just agreed with us that there was no seasoning on it. I've order this exact dish before, this chicken was not blackened and it could not have been more obvious. We then asked about the missing egg. After another trip to the kitchen, the manager told us we weren't getting one because the kitchen had already scrambled it. We had never asked for a scrambled egg and the menu called for a fried egg, so that made no sense. Apparently, because they had already cooked the egg incorrectly, the kitchen refused to cook another one. I've never met a more weak manager, totally terrified of the kichen. At that point my husband had had enough and sent his meal back. What surprised us most was the manager's reaction. He didn't apologize, offer another dish, or ask if my husband wanted anything else. He simply said okay and walked away. A customer came in for dinner, ended up with no dinner at all, and the manager seemed completely unconcerned about it, and was happy to lose a customer rather than cook an egg. My tacos weren't much better. They arrived cold, and the pork was extremely dry. Thankfully I had ordered a side of guacamole, because otherwise the pork would have been almost impossible to eat. Even with that, I eventually gave up. Mistakes happen in restaurants, and we understand that. What made this experience so disappointing was the kitchen's complete inflexibility and the manager's unwillingness to resolve what should have been several very simple problems. Unfortunately, instead of enjoying dinner, one of us barely ate and the other ended up with no meal at all. Will they see us again? Highly unlikely.
