We had a blast coming here for the first time. It was recommended by both my girlfriend's friends and my close friends as well. We were so happy we did after the experience. We both ordered BBQ from Honey Fire BBQ. Which is needed when you visit Tennessee. The food was delicious and well worth the price. The Mac & Cheese, and brisket were both delicious! Was driving through Nashville during a road trip with my boyfriend and his brother and we decided to stop in town for dinner. Truth be told I found this place simply by looking up "mac n cheese". It's been a couple of years since I've been in the South, but the mac n cheese I had whilst here certainly left a lasting impression. After scrolling through the photos for Honeyfire and seeing options for both pork bbq as well as chicken bbq, decided to stop here. I ordered the smoked chicken sandwich with a side of green beans and a side of mac n cheese. It was sooo good. The sandwich was soft and flavorful, the mac n cheese was tasty and perfectly cheesy, and the green beans were a great balance to everything. My boyfriend and I got a banana pudding for dessert and man were we full at the end!! Totally worth it as everything was great. I absolutely loved HoneyFire! I got the Diablo jones sandwich which was absolutely fabulous. The sauce was Smokey and slightly spicy. If you are weary about spice don't let this deter you! The pimento Mac n cheese and corn bread pudding were perfect to share between the two of us. This is a casual establishment where you walk up order, take a number, and sit where ever you want. If you're counting on a good BBQ night, be sure to arrive early. We arrived on Tuesday night at 7:00 and they were completely out of everything we wanted (burnt ends, brisket, ribs, chicken, baked potato, etc). Walked in for lunch with the family, ordered 2 orders of chicken wings, 1 slab of ribs no sides, 1 brisket meal with corn oudding and parmesan green beans, 1 pull pork meal with grits and mac and cheese. Yum. My husband loves BBQ food and this place happened to be within walkable distance from our Hotel. We got there around 630 for dinner and was seated at a high top in the bar area. Service was good, the food better. We shared the baby back egg rolls which were so good and a BBQ plate. They also have a great whiskey line up and ended having a Japanese whiskey highball. Food was good enough we went back a second time in our short stay in the Nashville area. Southwest salad was ample to share. Great place for dinner or takeout! read more

I really want to love this place. But I just don't. I've been here now 6-7 times and every time it's the same experience. I can't figure out the hype. The flavor profile is quite good on pretty much everything I've tried. But the meat is always dry and in the case of the brisket it's been so tough and chewy that twice I just threw it out. Based on some friends recommendation I decided to try the chicken instead... tough and chewy. I just can't explain it. I guess some people like their BBQ that way. The sides are great. So far all have been wonderful. Bbq sauce is great. But great sauce doesn't fix a dry brisket! Service is great. Location is right by my house. The vibe is great. I just wish I could coach the pit master a bit. Price is okay IF the food was better. But given the number of chews required I find it quite expensive for dry tough meats. read more

I'm surprised at how lacking this was after seeing so many rave reviews on websites and on here. The barbecue was super dry. First of all, we got their ribs wet. These were the toughest ribs I've eaten as they were dry. I also have no idea where the sauce was when we asked them wet, as there was nothing on there. The brisket was decent with the fatty pieces, however the non-fatty pieces were super dry and not that good. Finally, we got their chicken which was ok. This was decent and not too dry, but lacking in flavor. What really helped the beats were the barbecue sauces. They had a spicy, a regular, and a white sauce. The white sauce has a tang similar to tartar sauce. The sides were good. We got their corn pudding and their honey fries. I personally really liked these. The honey fries are thin, flat, crunchy fries with a nice honey powder on top to give a sweet flavor. The corn pudding is soft and tastes like cornbread. Overall, disappointing restaurant but good sides. read more

I was looking for a BBQ place I hadn't tried in Nashville and one that was close to I-40 on the Westside. HoneyFire was a great find! My friends were passing through and we wanted the Whole SheBang! The Whole SheBang came with 3 ribs, pulled pork, sausage, brisket, pulled chicken and turkey with 2 sides. Out of the 6 meats, the brisket was superior to the other 5. It was beefy, moist, good mix of fat, and a nice bark on the outside. After the brisket, the ribs, sausage, and pulled pork came next. The ribs had a good dry rub and was easy to tear from the bone. Sausage was cut into slices and really crispy. I liked that. The pulled pork was a little on the dry side but had some kind of seasoning on it. The pulled chicken and turkey was meh. Both were kind of dry and I only them with the white sauce. There are 3 sauces: regular, spicy, and Alabama white. The Alabama white is a tangy sauce and went well with the chicken, turkey, and pork. The regular and spicy sauce was the same except for the heat factor. The sauce was really sweet and seemed to be a vinegar base with honey mixed in somehow. If you have a sweet tooth, that's the sauce for you. The two sides we chose were the corn pudding and white queso mac and cheese. The corn pudding was amazing and the mac and cheese was all right. My friend's wife got a pulled pork sandwich with corn pudding and the bourbon beans. The beans were not very spicy but they were superior to the mac and cheese. One of the kids got the parmesan green beans and they were meh. When I come back to Honeyfire, I will be ordering the brisket with corn pudding and bourbon beans. read more

So food was great. I was disappointed in size difference- doesn't seem to have continuity at all. If this was just on food they would have gotten a 5. BUT service was horrid. Tables were all dirty and sticky. When I asked for help , the young man just ignored me. I mean really just pretended he couldn't hear me. I was right in front of him and he wouldn't make eye contact. The iced tea was in open pitchers on the counter. Soda area was a mess. Young girl that took my order wasn't friendly. This was my first visit here for lunch. I really wanted to like this place as the pictures of the food look good. It was middle of the road for me. The inside of the restaurant was clean with a good vibe. They have a full bar and some outdoor seating. The employees were friendly and the food came out in under 15 minutes. It's moderately priced and there is plenty of free parking. I got the brisket platter and when I ordered, the employee asked me if I wanted it Lean or Fatty which I don't recall ever being asked that before.I got 1 piece Lean and 1 piece Fatty. In my picture, the piece on the left is lean. It was a little tough, but the Fatty piece was soooo good. Just an FYI I would definitely go for the Fatty. The sandwiches we saw coming out looked good. My friend and I came here on a Friday night a little before 5:30 and managed to miss the long line that formed! This place is popular and for good reason. My friend and I made a mistake though. We ordered the loaded French fries thinking that was more of an appetizer, but it's more like a full meal for 4 people! We both ordered bbq sandwiches in addition to the loaded fries.
