I decided to stop in on my evening walk last night. I figured i might as well get dinner and give this new neighborhood spot a try. I wasnt ready. this is by far the best chicken in DC. I started off with a 2 piece dark, it was soo good i ordered an 8 piece bucket. They had several sauces as well that complemented the chicken. My favorite was the honey butter. Went here again to grab food instead of cooking. It was really good, cooked well and delicious. Did chicken again, but decided to check out the seafood dinner also (fish and shrimp). No complaints there. Unfortunately, the attitude of the young lady at the register was unacceptable and off-putting to say the least. We were very excited to try this local spot out but it was a big disappointment. The one star for this review literally goes to the food alone. Everything else apart of the dining experience was disappointing. When we arrived we were told that we could be seated in about 15 minutes (for a party of 2). The place was already crowded with people either waiting for food at the table or waiting for food for pickup. Either way, I took the amount of people there as a good sign that the food was going to be good. Once we were seated, the service from there on was PISS POOR! Ordering from a QR code is fine and dandy but it took so long for our food AND DRINKS to come out. And when the food *would* come, it came all as separate items with like at least 20 minutes in between each item. Very frustrating. My guest ordered a cocktail which they decided to finally bring at the end of our meal. Honestly, I wanted to like this place. The aesthetic is cute, the food is mediocre and very overpriced and the service is terrible. I hope this restaurant is able to re-train their staff or get a new team altogether. read more

A friend and I were visiting and saw this place on TikTok. I had the 3 wing combo with a side of Mac. The chicken was good, however the Mac was a dry mush ball, after ordering my food took about 5-10 mins to come out. My friend order the chicken and waffles which took about 20 mins to come out. The waffle was hand down the best thing we order the syrup is very tasty. What absolutely pissed me off is that the to go boxes are not microwave friendly. I get back to the hotel and put my food to warm up and within 5 secs I see a light in the microwave. I open it and it's on fire! Now I owe the hotel for a microwave -_- read more

The chicken was great and although I don't usually like any hot sauce flavor, I did really like the hot honey that I ordered on the side. I wasn't a fan of the coleslaw but only because it isn't your typical southern coleslaw that you'd normally eat with fried chicken. So for all the hype I decided to go in and give them a try. First they shut down the online ordering so I was left no choice but to take a chance and go in to order. Ok whatever still decided to try them out. Go in and place a large order for my family and asked for extra sauces once I realized they only gave three. One employee obliges and then the manager actually came and started to unpack my order checking to see how many sauces I'd been given. Then questioned why I needed them. Again I'd placed a large order. I was baffled and very turned off but I'd already paid. The level of customer service I received from the manager will be the reason I don't return. We live in the neighborhood and decided to check this place out. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. My seafood basket was decent, and the rolls were quite good, but the cauliflower was a soggy inedible mess and the mac and cheese was flavorless. My wife's fried chicken wings were so undercooked--gross!--that we took them home to bake in the oven. They should be able to get the chicken right. The ordering system for the outdoor seating is also a mess. No accommodations for people who don't want to order via app, food comes before silverware and drinks, etc. We won't be back, especially when much better food is available up the street at the Hitching Post. read more

The service is pretty bad! They make you order via an App. Basically, I suspect the chicken they use have is a Genetically Modified Organism (GMO). The food is excellent and this review isn't about that. I've been twice now and the service quality is very reminiscent to a McDonalds. Put your order in and wait, eat quickly and then leave. I feel like this is mostly due to how busy they get on certain nights as I've always been on Friday evenings. They do way more take out orders than dine in, so from just looking at the staff work, it's an all around mess. While I was there I witnessed six different people wait over 30 mins for take out orders because they told them to arrive when the food wasn't ready. The owners need to do better for their employees on this one. read more

Went there today for the first time to try something new. I ordered a 4 piece dark meat, coleslaw, Mac & Cheese, and potato wedges. I received Brussel sprouts instead of the wedges, the food was cold and the chicken was bland and not flavorful. The Mac and Cheese as well as the coleslaw were unremarkable. read more

I cannot believe that I am leaving this review right now. I have heard nothing but RAVING reviews from people about this place. I ordered an 8pc bucket (honey dipped), lrg Brussels, lrg mac and cheese, kale & blue cheese slaw and potato wedges. $70!!! I smelled the chicken before I even bit into it. It smelled like stinky burned oil. I looked past this and thought maybe the smell does not reflect the taste. It tasted exactly like it smelled. Like oil that had been burning for DAYS. It was SO bad. I could not taste the seasoning or anything on the chicken because that dirty oil smell/taste consumed all of my taste buds. I enjoyed the sides TREMENDOUSLY which is where the one star came from. Considering that I spent $70, waited over an hour(not completely their fault) and could not eat the main attraction is HIGHLYYYY disappointing. It's almost sickening. DoorDash would not offer me a refund because of this. I am PISSED. I want to try this again and go sooner in the day SOLEY based off how good the sides were. Maybe the chicken will be better but I do not see myself returning for a WHILEEEE. read more

I want more than anything to give Honeymoon Chicken a better rating than my 1 star review tonight. The chicken tastes amazing, the sprouts were also incredible. However, I never got to taste the potato wedges, Mac 'n Cheese and Slaw that I ordered because, despite asking the staff to re-do my order when I picked it up tonight, because there were items missing, when I got home all those items were still missing. It was chaos in the store - the staff had to redo my order and seemingly others because items were incorrectly assigned and I paid for a all of these items that ultimately never made it home. All I have to say is WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD. I had the chicken & waffles and mac n cheese.. OMG. The flavor! The. Flavor. Absolutely delicious. The chicken & waffles were both crispy. The waffle made me ashamed of the waffles I feed my kids for breakfast at home. I have to look up an entirely new recipe. I have to do RESEARCH after eating here. Thats how good it was. Would give 4.5 stars. Son said best fried chicken ever. Mom says best rolls ever. 8 piece chicken in a bucket is a fair deal at $21.00 with 4 rolls. Chef Rob nails it with great sauces - wouldn't mind his signature bbq sauce on the menu. Mambo sauce was great. Signature Brussel sprouts were well prepared as were the fries. I was really excited to try this place out ! I found it on tik tok which they had some good reviews however, upon my visit tonight I had the complete opposite experience. First and most and importantly I wasn't greeted when I first entered I was lost as this was my first time on where to go and order upon reaching the front because I came in on the side it was a young Mexican young lady with long nails who didn't greet all she said was " ordering out " and handed us the menu . I was expecting a warm welcome maybe asking if this was our first time and just explaining the menu to us . When I asked her how it works for creating a my own combo She just replied " everything is separate " so I'm just like ok .... There was a young black man with dreads that immediately brought us cups of ice water and had great customer service with breaking the language barrier because the lady making my food and the boy who actually took my order could barely help or understand me . This was a very frustrating experience especially when I'm spending my hard earned money in a place I expect to be treated differently. Lastly the food wasn't what I expected at all and I'm truly disappointed because to spend almost $80 I expect it to be as good as it looks but sadly it wasn't maybe because I came an hour before closing ? I'm not to sure . Overall I just expected more because all the good reviews I saw on social media and way the customer service definitely needs to improve because that's what keep the people coming back. read more

We loved our first trip to this new neighborhood spot! Our online pick-up order was ready about 10 minutes early, but when I arrived, the food was still hot. The chicken was crisp and juicy, the mac and cheese was creamy, the roasted brussel sprouts were slightly sweet and perfectly cooked, the dipping sauces were delicious, and the dinner rolls were out of this world! So I've been here several times because I live in the neighborhood and it's a new chicken place. The chicken is fine. I've had better and worse. It's nothing special. The sides are fine. For me the standouts are the sprouts and cauliflower. The moon pies are great as well. I tried a seafood combo once and didn't enjoy it or the breading on it. Big issues for me are that I've received cold chicken a couple of times and the customer service is hit or miss. Tonight no one greeted me and I waited at the counter for a few minutes and then just placed an online order after not being acknowledged. I'll return because there's no other chicken spots so close to home, but not as frequently as I would have if not for those issues. read more

Their* sauce and sides were the saving grace of my meal. I went with the chicken sando. The slaw and sauce was legit but the chicken lacked flavor and was on the dry side. Their version of mumbo sauce was tangy, sweet and just enough heat on the back end. The Brussels were solid and so was the Mac n cheese. Overall great flavors, maybe just an off day on the chicken I received on Sunday 1/23/22. I'd like to try them out again in a month or two once they work out the kinks. read more
