We chose this restaurant after reading some reviews online. The order was placed through their website, so we didn't dine inside. We ordered house fried rice, "fried" chicken wings, and some crab rangoons. When the delivery driver arrived, he brought the wrong order. We called the restaurant, and they said they would contact the driver. Luckily, my wife caught him before he left and was able to resolve the mistake. (He somehow mixed up the order bags.) The house fried rice lacked flavor and was bland at best. The crab rangoons were okay--creamy with some flavor, but not overly sweet. The "fried" chicken wings seem brined or marinated, so they don't really get fried properly. They were a bit disappointing but still tasty. In the end, we never heard back from the restaurant to confirm if the order was corrected. We don't recommend this place. Too many small errors were made in the end. read more

Came from out of state to stay the night. Grabbed some quick take out since dine is closed and had chicken lo mein and chicken and broccoli. The food was good enough to get that craving satisfied and the portion is what you'd expect around AC. Ordering was easy and the food came out quickly. Ever drive to Atlantic City a little bit passed people's bedtime, but you haven't eaten yet? Look no further than Hong Kong House! My family had an issue with my choice of hotel, so we picked another one and it was late. HK looked much bigger on the outside, but I assume due to Covid, things had to close and downsize. Now, there's a take-out window with plexiglass between you and the worker. As far as I can tell, he was the only one, taking orders in person, on the phone and disappearing into the kitchen. The crab rangoons felt a bit small to me, but I have a huge appetite anyways. But the fried rice, beef w/ broccoli were very satisfying. I didn't feel groggy or anything after eating it. It's Chinese food and there should be not so much expectation, it does the job! Wings are smaller than the usual but well seasoned and more of a naked wings, very lightly battered. Foo young may need more frying to make it a bit more crispy on the outside. They cook really quick so better prepare to pick up. read more

Disappointing food. Trying to figure out how this place ever got such good reviews . Lo mein was sweet tasting ?? Noodles are thinner than usual lomein noodles as well . The sweet flavor is such a turn off and lack of meat. Should have some veggies in it but only saw a few. Going back to the Chinese restaurant in Margate. . I asked for hot sauce snd never got it. I found myself in Atlantic City, and famished. What was I to do? Get Chinese. Hong Kong House sprang to mind since they're infinitely better and less expensive than most casino offerings. I left the casino I was at, and walked four blocks over, braving slightly icy sidewalks and the biting cold. I stumbled in, bleary-eyed, and a friendly staffer took my order - and another's over the phone - while pouring a cup of hot tea for me. I left with a container of delicious hot and sour soup, beef and broccoli with beef fried rice, and four (count 'em!) large egg rolls. I met with friends back at the casino, and we devoured our spoils on the casino floor. (Luckily it wasn't busy. Besides receiving stares from floor staff, a passerby snapped a shot of us with his camera.) Hong Kong House remains my choice for refreshing Chinese (and not only take out), especially if you've been indulging in tasty root beer vodka. read more

I was happy for them being open late - Thanks! But they wouldn't let me eat inside so I had to go back to my hotel and eat. The food was meh. I purchased the sweet n sour chicken because it's easy and most places can get it right. It was bland. I literally couldn't eat half of it and ended up tossing it out. I disliked my last two orders Shrimp with Chinese vegetables which were just cuts of bok choy and no other vegetables And now Chinese mushrooms with Chinese vegetables which again were ends of bok choy All the green part of bok choy was not there and I know it's the best part . 14 dollars for uncooked mushrooms which I know were not ready to use since they were dried (I do buy them at Asian store myself ) and not soaked long enough . Reasonably cordial service, considering that they deliver to the nearby casinos and deal with drunkies late into the night. A fair number of cabs drive by this corner. General Tso's firm tofu was standard for Americanized flavors. Similarly, their hot and sour soup was on the lower end of quality. I was disappointed at how soggy the salt and pepper frog logs were, but at least they weren't undercooked even if they should have been fried a bit harder. Was brought here by Dave H. this past weekend for the Yelp event trip to Atlantic City. We were craving something sumptuous, savory, warm and filling. Hong Kong House did not disappoint. We were all asian (well,mostly) so when they gave us the menus and we were asking about where the hot and sour soup was located, they gave us another set of menus special made for more "americanized tastes". Hahaha we all had a laugh. Staff was very nice, they even let us pet their puppy Bebe! The food was good; no complaints. Crispy Duck, maopo tofu, pork and bamboo, duck soup, garlic eggplant, hot and sour soup. Yummmmm yummm. The pork and bamboo shoot was my fave dish. Fair prices, friendly staff, simple surroundings, open late (until 5am), I can not complain about this place. I will go back next time Im in AC. read more

This place was pretty darn tasty. After 8pm, Coronavirus going on and I needed some food. I wanted Chinese and this was the only one I could find delivering right now, so I gave it a shot despite the reviews being moderate. I don't know what everyone else ate, but I got delivery and what I ordered was over average: 1. Egg roll: This was the egg roll of my dreams, big, crispy, tasty. An actual fattening egg roll - not that stupid lower fat spring roll that is not nearly as good. This was flat out 5 stars. I would order again even if they only sold egg rolls. (Only downside to this egg roll is that like almost every single Chinese take out restaurant they send little packets of that horrid yellow goo that somehow people have been deceived into thinking is hot mustard. But no problem, I have my own hot mustard powder and just mixed some up. Get the S&B Hot Mustard powder and mix it with water, a little rice wine vinegar and a pinch of sugar.) 2. Shrimp roll: This was pretty good but the egg roll was better. 3. Beef fried rice: Nothing terribly special and missing the carrot and peas that I'm used to. But it was tasty and the beef itself was quite nice; very tender and well flavored beef. 4. Pork lo mien: I only had a couple bites of this because I ate too many egg rolls. But it was good! Nice pork. 5. Hot and sour soup: Not the best I've ever had, but again tasty. Next time I'll get it extra hot instead of medium hot. It came with real fried noodles instead of the prepackaged cardboard ones and that added a lot! I don't know how their other dishes are, but I was pretty pleased with what I received. Also - HUGE portions on the fried rice and lo mein. I have enough food for like 4 more days. read more

This is definitely your 'hood Chinese spot but there are some menu options that they do especially well. My friend kept raving about their chicken teriyaki on a stick so I had to get some. She was not lying! They were delicious. Seriously! I ordered beef fried rice and beef and chicken on a stick. The rice wasn't spectacular but it was decent. I ate the food the following day and the meats were still delicious. It reheated well. Overall, it's a 3.5 for the items I ordered. Visited at around noon. The dining area was empty, but cozy. Several fish tanks with filters kept it from being silent. The woman at the cashier desk was nice and polite, though curt. I ordered the sesame chicken with white rice. Price was very reasonable. Everything was cooked well. No complaints, just not over the top. This place is not as bad as the other reviews suggests. It is a block north of the boardwalk and is great as a cheaper option from all the casino restaurants. The interior and exterior does look very dated, but the food here is not low quality takeout food. This is an actual reasonably priced sit down place you would find in a Chinatown. If it actually were in a Chinatown, this would be a generic place in the neighborhood, but it's in Atlantic City. There are a lot of seafood options and the beef with vegetables we had here were good. read more

We found ourselves hungry after hours and too lazy to get in the car and drive. Seeing that we had no desire for pizza we ordered Chinese food. I have NEVER received an order delivered so fast in my life. From the time I disconnected the call till the driver arrived was 10 minutes. Yes 10 minutes. Granted our resort is only .2 miles from them but that was still fast. The Mongolian Beef and wings were awesome! We will definitely place another order before we leave AC this week. We were staying at a resort in Atlantic City and wanted to get chinese delivered so this was the menu provided to us by the resort. We ordered many different items such as Crab Rangoons, Shrimp Fried Rice, Garlic Scallops, Curry Chicken, and Shrimp rolls. Everything was unfortunately, terrible. My son loves crab rangoons from just about anywhere and he couldn't eat these, they had no crab meat or cream cheese in it and it was dry. Many of these items we actually often get from other chinese restaurants and so we know how it is supposed to taste and what it is supposed to have, for the scallop dish, there were only two scallops and the rest was sauce and old reheated vegetables. In all of the dishes, they skimped on the chicken and shrimp, and on top of it, everything tasted like it was old, and tasted so bad. We were all starving and had just wasted $50, but still tossed most of this garbage and got other food. If you are hungry or are just in the mood for chinese food, go somewhere else and save yourself the headache. read more

The place claims new management and I guess I assumed that meant that improvements... right? So I bring the food back to my hotel room, open a beer and have a plate and some silverware brought to my room. I pour out the "chicken fried rice" and notice that color of the rice was yellow.
