Had lunch here on a late Friday afternoon. The place has an interesting vibe though the little rope thing that "blocks" the entrance of the dining area was kind of annoying. We started off with a the brisket and wonton soup, which was delicious--the brisket was tender and the wontons were flavorful. We then had the sesame chicken, which was quite tasty and had a generous amount of white meat chicken. The shrimp fried rice and chicken lomein were also pretty good. This is definitely a family owned business serving delicious Chinese food. We ordered the Peking duck, water spinach stir fry, walnut shrimp and steamed oysters. The Peking duck is different to the style I've had before, but the skin was crispy and they cut the meat and removed the bones so you can put it into the steamed bun, there was sauce and green onions. Very good. The water spinach stir fry was delicious, classic flavor. The walnut shrimp came with broccoli, pretty large plump shrimp and walnuts. It was good. The oysters, they were so big. I was surprised at how large they were. They did a classic Cantonese style steam on the oysters but they were meaty and delicious. Overall definitely recommend this place for their food. The servers take your order, refill your drinks, and bring your orders. Not much interaction but that's how Chinese restaurants usually are. read more

Wanted real Asian food. Casinos are alright.... But I had a serious craving for some good Canto. This place provided. Felt like I was in Flushing Chinatown. Peking Pork chops were the thickest I've ever had, really good, my son Loved them. Beef brisket was awesome, I'm the kind of guy that likes the tendons so this was a treat. Fish and tofu was on point. Servers were friendly, spoke to me in canto and answered all my questions. Brought tea, water, checked in on us a few times. Good ppls. Although the food is very good, the prices are outrageous. Imperial is now a "special" restaurant. No change in ambience, although they removed the hanging ducks in the sight lines, but the prices imply dining, not eating. We still go there but less frequently. Not sure if Atlantic City still reels in the Asian gambling whales from Macao or Hong Kong, but if I were one of them, I would request to have my meals delivered from here since they have the highest quality to value ratio in town. We've been ordering Singapore noodles from this place for years. The meat pieces in the dish are very high quality, not fatty or tough. Seasoning is perfect. Added an order of hot and sour soup last night. I normally avoid this because I'm usually disappointed. It was terrific! Best I've had in this part of the world. Whenever I'm in the area, I try to stop by Imperial Inn. The food tastes as good as the restaurants in NYC Chinatown. My recent visit, I took my kids, many of the items served here, you can't get from the local Chinese takeout. We ordered pepper corn squid, Peking ribs, clams with black bean sauce, pan fried noodles with seafood, and a tofu casserole dish. All the dishes we had were very good, flavorful and cooked right. If I had to nitpick, the Peking pork ribs was on the fatty side, but I guess it's to be expected. Would definitely recommend going here if you're in a mood for Chinese food. read more

We went here around 11:30 on a Saturday morning on Fourth of July Weekend and there was no wait, so we were seated immediately. The Peking duck is really good here and they give you the option of buns or pancakes. The first course of Peking duck is your traditional roasted duck with garnishing and sauce with either buns or pancakes (we chose pancakes), but the second course is something I've never had when ordering Peking duck before. Instead of a duck broth, they give you a duck stir-fry. I feel like I might've preferred a broth, since Peking duck in itself is pretty heavy, but the stir-fry was tasty nonetheless. We ordered some other entrees too -- salt and pepper pork chops, fried flounder, house special fried rice, and Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce -- all reasonable portion sizes. Pretty much all of these dishes, with the exception of the Chinese broccoli, were average or mediocre. The pork chops didn't taste like anything and relied heavily on garnishing for any flavor. They weren't even that crispy. I didn't try the flounder but the people I was with said that there wasn't much meat to it, though it still tasted good. The house special fried rice wasn't anything special either. The Chinese broccoli was pretty good though. My family loves coming here for Peking duck whenever we go to Atlantic City so I'll probably come here to appease them, but I won't be ordering any of the other entrees again. read more

I'm always craving Chinese food, I can't help it... I'm Chinese. I was so glad to find Imperial Inn, a short walk from Tropicana. To be fair, I was slightly skeptical at first because I saw there was Thai(?) characters on the awning/menu in addition to Chinese characters so I wasn't sure if it was legit. BUT the menu looked pretty legit so I decided to still try it out. Because we were a party of two, I didn't get to order as much as I'd like. The portions are generous here as well. Great attentive service and great flavors. Both the sautéed snows peas and homestyle duck were delicious. You could tell the flavors were slightly heavier than typical Chinese food (probably to cater to more American taste buds) but it was still delicious none the less. My ONLY complaint is that the hot tea wasn't very hot, more like warm. I love when I can find authentic Chinese food, especially in a place like Atlantic City. Definitely need to make it a tradition to come back every time I'm in town. PSA: Chinese take-out restaurants that sell things like General Tso Chicken are not authentic Chinese food. read more

But this restaurant compared to the many ones I've been to in New York. It's lacking so much. Atlantic City could have so MUCH better food than what they serve here. It just seemed like they threw everything together and forgot to add a couple of things to each item of food. The imperial fried rice. Literally not flavor. The rice was hard and didn't even taste like they added any soy sauce or salt to the dish. The shrimp and meat wasn't seasoned. Our salt and pepper calamari was missing the salt part. We stopped by here after a day of fun at the Boardwalk. It seemed kind Chinese-Vietnamese owned? Well, there are many Vietnamese options in addition to all the Chinese ones, in any case. The restaurant itself is quite nice. It was really quiet when we got there, and I was a bit concerned about that, but there was no reason for that at all. Fun little quirk: They have a clock that chimes "My Favorite Things" on the hour. How cute is that?? Service was very friendly and prompt. We ordered off the Chinese menu that they gave us (must've been able to SENSE that we were Chinese? XD). I was comforted by their all-Chinese menu - it, at the very least, implies authenticity. We got a meal for 4, even though it was just 3 of us. Pretty yummy stuff. The (salt & pepper ribs) were super crispy and were topped with crispy onions. Very savory and delicious. This is my go to spot in AC. Don't be mistake, they don't deliver. The food is authentic Cantonese style food so it is not your typical Chinese restaurant. I read on Yelp that they salted fish rice was something to try. I tried to order it but the man who took my order was very knowledgeable and asked me what my pallet was like. Because I'm not as well versed in this style of Chinese food he gave me some other recommendations instead. I trusted him and he was right. I love the BBQ pork. Went back later to try the salted fish rice and again, everything he said about the dish was right - and I don't think most people would enjoy it unless they've had something like it before... that being said, I did enjoy it and would order it again! read more

First I want to say how delicious the food is at Imperial Inn. We've eaten there many times and have never been disappointed. Last week we walked in and 3 people were waiting. They appeared to be Latino. The hostess told them she needed to clean a table for them. Note that they said they had been waiting 20 minutes and there were 6 clean, empty tables. After waiting 10 more minutes, they left. We're white & we're seated immediately after they left. We also noted that when Asian customers entered the restaurant, they were seated immediately. I'm sorry I ate there after seeing this prejudice. I apologize to our Latino community that this actually happened in Atlantic City. read more

The most important thing is that the food is terrific. The best Chinese Food in south Jersey. The garlic pork chops are out of this world, as are the sesame chicken, General Tso's chicken, and steamed fish with ginger and scallions, not to mention the scallion pancake and dumplings. The portions are large, so there is always another dinner at home from the leftovers. The room is cheerfully decorated, and the service is attentive.
