I had not been here in years and thought I would try it for lunch today. Walked in and ordered 2 entrees to-go, he said about 10 min and I walked out 8 min later. Quick! The serving sizes are very generous! I think me and my husband could have shared the chicken lomein. Although not quite "authentic" tasting, the food was still good. Served hot and fresh. I would definitely go back again. Inside the restaurant appeared cleaned and orderly.

This has got to be the worst takeout I've ever had. Nothing spicy about this garlic chicken. And absolutely no flavor in the egg roll. The egg drop was decent. Prices haven't been updated so you'll over pay for less than average food.

Let me start out by saying that I was starving from driving from Galveston. I stopped in Elgin and Elgin is known for their BBQ. I was not in the mood for BBQ so I headed to this place. We know Elgin is a small place. We walked in at 2:02pm on a Saturday and the lady working greeted us with a lunch menu. Awesome! She still allowed us to order from the lunch menu. They do not have fountain sodas. They have can sodas but it's only $1. Not bad! Check out the lunch menu I uploaded. Great prices! I ordered the egg drop soup, hot and spicy chicken with fried rice and egg roll. The food was good...We even ordered a fresh spring roll to go along with it. The guy seated behind me said that their spring rolls were the best he ever had. If you are ever passing by from out of town check them out. Worth a shot especially for their lunch prices!!!!

These people can't get an online order correct. Pretty sad. Food is decent. The wings were a bit too dry.

The phở đặc biệt is especially good, with every component tasting fresh and well prepared. The brisket is a standout because it's consistently tender and full of flavor. Overall, this is an easy recommendation for anyone craving a great bowl of pho.

The…read moreThai basil leaves were absolutely ginormous, and they gave us plenty of them alongside very fresh limes, which I appreciated. The bowl itself came loaded with meat--they definitely weren't skimping to save money here. The meat-to-noodle ratio felt great, and every bite actually had substance instead of leaving me fishing around for toppings. As for the broth, I landed somewhere in the middle. It wasn't quite as clear or light as I personally prefer, leaning toward a fattier, milkier undertone that almost reminded me of a Vietnamese pho take on tonkotsu. The flavor itself was undeniably very good, but the richness may have been a bit too much for me personally. One way I usually judge how much I love a pho broth is whether I want to sip the bowl down to the very end, and this one wasn't quite light enough for me to want to do that. I've had richer and deeper pho flavors elsewhere, but I still appreciated the flavor profile here and could absolutely see why this place is so popular. It feels hearty, comforting, and satisfying in a way that clearly resonates with many people. Despite how packed the restaurant was, the atmosphere ended up being surprisingly pleasant. Service moved very quickly, which honestly impressed me given how busy everything felt. Even with the crowd, I didn't dislike the spacing or setup at all--the restaurant still felt comfortable, and the sound of people enjoying their food all around added to the lively, welcoming energy rather than making it feel overwhelming. Overall, Pho Phong Lưu ended up being one of those places where I completely understood the hype, even if it didn't become my personal favorite pho spot. While the broth leaned richer than my preference, I still enjoyed the experience and definitely look forward to trying other dishes next time.

For the bowl, you select the base of rice, salad, vermicelli noodles and you can order half/half rice and salad, select your protein like beef, chicken or pork, select your veggies and drizzle of dressings. Since it was my first time visiting, I opt to get the dressings on the side so that I can try different dressings. I've ordered the pork banhmi and rice bowl and the beef rice bowl. Out of the three, I liked the beef most because of the more tender sliced meat. The bread was too soft for my liking and I wished it was a bit more like a baguette. The rice bowl is definitely better than the banhmi. Good customer service. Water cup is available on the counter.

I added carrots, cucumbers, fried onions, and cilantro. They have a few sauces you can also add, but decided on the spicy mayo sauce. This reminds me a lot like Chipotle where you select the toppings. The place itself had some seating and a drink refill station. The bread was not made the way I like it a soft and flaky baguette bread but it was edible. My kids had ordered the rice bowl and they said tasted fine but nothing spectacular. Overall, you have to try this yourself and judge whether its good or not. Its definitively a different take on the traditional Vietnamese dishes.

We stopped in and were overwhelmed by the menu. There were only 2 others dining but we decided to go ahead and order. The place was clean but there was a major concern: the silverware is placed on the tables in a stainless steel holder and it seemed unsanitary. Also, I hated the napkins. Now the food: the menu is absolutely overwhelming. From soup to baos to plenty of appetizers to bahn mis to pho to beef and chicken dishes, it's a little too much. I will say there might be something for everyone. My mom has the sizzle beef. It was oddly chewy. The bell peppers were great and the rice was perfectly cooked. However, it was served on lettuce and tomato which didn't add to the dish at all. Solid 2.5/5. I got a bulgogi bahn mi and it was tiny but exactly what I would go for at a Vietnamese restaurant. I paid $11.50 for it (added an egg) and that was brutally priced. We got the loaded fries and they were so underwhelming. No flavor at all from the fries and bulgogi...the egg didn't add anything either. I would give it a 1.5/5. There were a ton of people coming in and grabbing to-go orders for delivery services and I believe most of them ordered the pho. I think that's where we messed up. For $51, it was quite a lackluster experience. The customer service was great but I don't think I'll be back.
