Dubai chocolate latte
Raenae G.

Cute little bakery. They have a few chairs (bar style) inside where you can enjoy your desserts and drinks. I got the Dubai Chocolate latte and my friend got the Americano. We had mango panacotta and strawberry matcha. Everything was delicious! Service was great. Everyone was friendly and patient while we decided what we wanted. It was also quick. They have pastries, breads, cupcakes and cakes here too. Check them out!

Located in the Kamehameha Shopping Center, Honu Bakery is the perfect place to pick up some yummy and adorable treats! They have cute decorated cupcakes like panda bears, polar bears, Elmo, Hello Kitty, and more! They also offer their famous Turtle Bread, which is how I first discovered them. A friend gave me a Turtle Bread and after I saw it and tasted it, I just had to check out the bakery! I've been a fan and customer ever since. The baked good items are decent, but not the best. However, the variety and assortment of their decorated items make it worth it! I've recently ordered cakes for my twin boys' birthday celebrations. Last year, I ordered the doggy cake for their birthday. They loved it! This year, I went in person to order cupcakes for their class birthday celebration. We went with the adorable panda bear and polar bear cupcakes. The staff is friendly and helpful. Happy Eating!

Honu Bakery is the go to for those last minute "oh no, I need a cake or dessert!" moments when every other bakery is already closed. Thankfully, they've got our backs until 7 PM. Their cakes are not just delicious but also fun sometimes shaped like animals or characters, making it almost too cute to eat (almost). Pretty sure the bakers here are Korean, and one thing I've noticed about their cakes aside from being ridiculously good is that they have a unique twist. If you're expecting a full-on cheesecake or Okinawan sweet potato cake, think again. Instead of being one dense block, they layer soft, airy chiffon cake with cream cheese or Okinawan sweet potato filling, making them lighter and way too easy to eat without feeling stuffed. But sometimes you do want that full non chiffon layered dessert so that is the only downside to this place. Favorites? Definitely the mango, blueberry, and strawberry cheesecakes, plus the Okinawan sweet potato cake they are all a must try. And let's not forget the adorable animal cupcakes. Too cute to eat... but obviously, I still do. The staff here? Just as sweet as the cakes. Super friendly, lighthearted, and their personalities match the good vibes of this place. Love it here!

Dessert display case. Variety of cupcakes.

Such a cute bakery! This location is definitely bigger than the King St. location. With much more variety, space, and options. So much cutely decorated cupcakes and cakes. Their ube cream puff is sooo delicious. Can be a little pricy, but worth it! So delicious! Friendly staff.

I saw a post about Turtle bread and I had to go and find it! But I had never been to this location and I was hoping they had my favorite, biscotti toast! The shopping center is weird! I wasn't sure where I could drive. There was a security guard checking with people to see if they were shopping. It was weird. But I found the shop. Friendly greeting when I walked in. Got my biscotti toast and a Turtle bread. They have a lot of baked goods! Some really cute cupcakes, and some cool looking cakes too! It would be really hard to decide what to get. But I just inhaled that toast and then started on that Turtle. Both so good! Mahalo Honu!

Get their special Turtle Bread... if it runs out then go early the next day. This particular day we were just grabbing pastries for the kids on the way to the Bishop Museum.

Honu Bakery...ah, the place wears a Japanese mask, but lift the veil and you'll find it's only an imitation of Kyoto's elegance. Not truly Japanese, merely Japanese-inspired, a ghost of something greater. And yet, credit where it's due this little shop still outshines the bloated, sugar-drunk mediocrity of your standard American bakery. The espresso? Smooth, precise, a bitter kiss worth lingering on. The sponge cake? Light, decent, even charming but never sublime. Good, yes. Never great. The Okinawan manju sits packaged like a promise, but one knows instinctively it won't carry the quiet poetry of a Ginza patisserie. It's play-acting refinement in a land that often prefers excess. So what is Honu? A clever chameleon. Not the opera house of Japanese baking, but a respectable theater. A place where the performance is good enough to make you smile, even if it never quite touches your soul.

Turtle bread!

Swung by Honu Bakery in the Kam Shopping Center. Adorable decorated cupcakes adorned the window looking into the bakery. Picked up the famous Honu (turtle) bread to share with family. 4/5 stars. Also picked up a slice of the strawberry shortcake and a meringue pie. The strawberry shortcake was unremarkable. Strawberries did not taste fresh. Whipped frosting and filling were plain tasting. Unfortunately, this is not a rebuy item. 2/5 stars. The meringue pie is light and more like a flaky crust type pastry. 3/5 stars. I decided not to purchase the decorated cupcakes because of the amount of frosting. I forgot to take pictures of the cupcakes. The cupcakes are beautiful for birthday celebrations and special occasions! Service here is fast and friendly here.

Mahalo Jin and Honu Bakery! I'll be getting all my special occasion cakes from you from now on. Got a large cake for a special birthday celebration. When I picked up the cake, I was worried about transporting it safely since I ordered the largest size cake. But Honu Bakery packs their cakes in secure custom made boxes with a convenient carry handle. They even included cute complimentary candles! The cake was so delicious. Light and airy and not overly sweet. Delicious!

Ube Crème Puff

Honu Bakery has two locations. I typically go to the one they had in south king street but since I was near I decided to come here with my partner. The service process is pretty straight forward (similar to other bakeries). You go in, grab a tray and pick up the items you'd like, you'd then eventually end up at the counter where you'd checkout. They're known for their turtle bread, which is like a whipped cream mixed with chestnuts and raisins in between sweet roll buns that has almonds on top. We got the small/personal size. We also got the ube crème puff and the egg tart. Everything was good. I never cared too much for their signature item(turtle bread) but it's still good regardless. Their egg tart was super unique, unlike any other egg tarts i've had before. Their filling was a lot more sweet and custardy than eggy. The crust was also not flaky but more like a sweet pie crust. The ube crème puff was very good, FILLED with ube crème and definitely hit the spot. Most of their pastry options weren't as unique but they had all the basics.

I've been here a handful of times, but this last time I went I was really disappointed. I decided to take my cousins and my nephews to go get Boba and they all requested for this place over infinitea. Supposedly, they come here after school and get snacks and Boba however upon ordering the girl who was taking our order, asked another coworker If there was still Boba pearls available when they confirm that there was that same girl that checked offered to make the drinks. As she was making the drinks, the girl who rung us up, noticed that she did not start off by making them correct and they went back-and-forth for a bit in front of us. I believe for professional reasons there is a time and a place and it was a bit awkward because at that moment I was unsure if our drinks were gonna come out right. The girl who was making the drinks seemed like she was out of uniform she had very exposing midriff shirt and not proper shoes when working in the food industry, I am all for expressing yourself through clothes, but just seemed like it was not appropriate for this company. My cousins had expressed that they would like to work here, but I highly suggested that they shouldn't based on how the coworkers interact with each other. When we received our drinks, everyone had seemed happy with what they got, the only downfall with the drinks was the pearls, some were chewy and some were too hard to chew into. I'm all for my family coming back here, but I wouldn't come back myself.

We came on a holiday morning, and there wasn't anyone inside. The cafe is cute and vibey! Love how pet-friendly it is with the polaroids--I'd definitely bring my pup here. There's also a decent amount of seating to hang out or work at. Service was fine. I ordered at the register, and she made my drink immediately. I was intrigued by their Haupia Matcha Latte. I love all things Haupia, so it seemed like the perfect match. I got the Haupia Matcha Latte with Oat Milk, and it was superb. The drink was topped with a pineapple foam and drizzled with a delicious honey lilikoi syrup. I am such a big fan of passionfruit and loved how well the lilikoi flavor blended with the honey and pineapple. I loved how the profile of this drink showcased the flavors of Hawai'i. And now that I know that you can buy their syrups online, I may grab a couple of bottles myself! My friends got the iced and hot Pauahi, a latte with caramelized macadamia nut syrup and topped with toasted macadamia nut. This drink was also really good! I totally recommend Po'Ai by Pono Potions. Losing your cherry in front of your colleagues who you see 5x a week…read more Scandalous? That's exactly what happened. I've been wanting to try Neko Koneko (NK) for YEARS. It's not too far from my home and drive past here almost daily. Previous attempts failed as I was unable to secure parking. My day finally came earlier this week when a colleague sent a message in our office chat asking if anyone wanted anything from NK. Originally started in October 2021 in Mililani, NK relocated to Liliha, across of longtime Yagura Restaurant in September 2023. NK, which literally means "cat kitten", is known for their signature bottled drinks of lattes and cold brews, offers baked goods and limited food options. They also sell merch and offer online ordering. Prior to arriving, I asked my colleagues on their recommendation where their cold brews and lattes are notable. I had placed my order with the staff where she offered me samples. There was a line of about 4 people behind me in this cozy shop and felt bad for holding up the line but the staff once again offered me samples which I eventually accepted. Thank goodness I sampled my initial selection as I found the Hojicha latte cold brew muddled and lacked the roasted tea flavor I was hoping for. I ended up getting the matcha latte cold brew, ube latte cold brew and the strawberry milk, a personal favorite drink of mine when I lived in Japan many blue moons ago. While the staff was gathering my bottles, I noticed their baked goodies and couldn't pass on the marbled matcha loaf. My family really enjoyed the drinks and I devoured the sliced loaf. So moist with a distinct matcha favor that I enjoy. I really loved the ambiance here as it had cute decor with small plants and several tables for indoor dining. Had a handful of patrons sitting down while eating and sipping on their drinks. The customer service on my first visit was amazing. So attentive and customer service oriented. However. parking had been an issue for me as Liliha St is a busy one with some metered parking. Overall, an excellent first experience and clearly a fan of NK. I've noted to try their toasted coconut lattes cold brew that many of my colleagues rave over, as well as try other offerings, including baked goods, affogato, and kimchi fried rice.
