    Ribeye

Dined here for my husband and I's one year wedding anniversary and enjoyed the overall atmosphere and all of the dishes we tried from start to finish! Garlic Ube Bread - warm and soft. They were good but lacked ube flavor...still really good rolls though Lava Flow - light on alcohol, perfectly sweet, and just an overall delicious drink Garlic Pomme Frites - fried perfectly and held up well and didn't get soggy fast. Nice and crisp, thick cut, garlicky, and definitely a fulfilling appetizer on its own--they give a generous portion Hawaiian Catch - this is their top menu item according to our server and it did not disappoint. If you're a seafood lover, you get to try a little bit of everything--fish, lobster, shrimp, and scallop paired with sweet potato and broccolini. All of the seafood was prepared well, tasted fresh, and didn't have a rubbery texture. Prime Ribeye - cooked perfectly and was seasoned well. Overall, it was a nice juicy steak and I enjoyed the butter on top Molten Chocolate Lava Cake - moist, chocolate-y goodness! Welcoming and friendly service, loved the vibes, and being surrounded in a koi fish lagoon. Reservations are recommended! This is definitely a must-try when in Kauai especially if you're staying at the Grand Hyatt!

Big thanks to my wife for jumping on an opportunity to attend a conference at Grand Hyatt Kauai. After booking, I jumped on OpenTable to reserve Tidepools and luckily snagged one during our time here. Tidepools is absolutely a must-visit! Whether it is for the experience of dining on the water, upscale foods, or kind service, you have to splurge for at least one night on vacation! We had been to Tidepools together a few years ago, pre-kiddo, but this recent time was memorable thanks to the kind wait-staff. They had crayons for our little one, allowed us to walk around and view the fish nearby, and supplied us with delicious and fresh ube rolls, which our toddler loved (so much so that we had to take her actual kid's meal to-go). I ordered the Tai Chi, which is their version of the Mai Tai, and it was solid - great balance, and I almost ordered another one, but our little one was tired. To eat we got an appetizer of scallops, which was amazing - slightly sweet crust and juicy inside. My main dish was the ribeye, which was tender, cooked to my liking, and larger than I expected. Overall our best meal thus far during our Kauai trip, and if I had the income, would definitely eat here more than once per trip!

Perfect for date night, visiting, celebration, or just to go! Definitely make reservations ahead of time. Service: 5/5 really good service from person who greets you to the chefs when you pass by. Food: very yummy and still thinking about the food now! Ordered the filet mignon and I would order it again. Top of with lava cake was amazing! We finished everything and no leftovers. Parking: they do validate the parking for you

The ambience is really cool. The food is above average. On the island it's probably the best. The service was average. The manager, Amanda was very helpful and kind. The vegan food is such a bummer because they don't execute it right. The pad Thai had cold tofu on it. Nothing is more annoying to me than when a restaurant has vegan options and they aren't good. The crème brûlée was so good.

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The koi fish pond really adds to the ambiance. Server was generous and attentive. Meat was cooked to perfection!

We were greeted at Tidepools with an enthusiasm and level of hospitality that was unmatched. My girlfriend and I had been on the hunt for a blue cheese olive martini, and the staff actually went out of their way to personally escort us to the restaurant to make sure we found one. That level of service immediately set the tone for the evening. The appetizers were to die for, and our entrées were exceptional. What really made the evening stand out, though, was the service. From the bartending staff to the waiters and management, everyone went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of throughout the entire experience. A special shoutout to the manager and the entire Tidepools team for making an already beautiful dinner that much more memorable. This was easily one of the highlights of our time in Kauai, and we absolutely look forward to coming back!

Togarashi Spiced Opah it was spicy!!!

This place reminds me Ruinas Del Mar at HR Aruba from the koi ponds and great view into the resort. Awesome Ambience and decor. Loved it. They also have a large bar with tables to dine as another option if you didn't have any reservations. Our waiter was fine and his assistant sure stopped by a lot to refill waters, pick up dirty plates, and replaced the table light, when it went out. The food was really good and their ube bread was to die for. We had to try their galbi and the quality of meat was so good and flavorful. I had their spicy fish, Togarashi spiced Opah, and boy was it spicy!!! I think our waiter put down extra spicy in the receipt. Ugh. This the four star rating. My wife's dish, Hawaiian catch, was stellar. We were too full to eat dessert.

Thought I was still gonna be hungry but Tidepools surprised me! Ambiance was quite serene. Ultimate Hawaii experience as we had the ocean (not as close) on one side and large koi splashing in a pond on the other. Service was exceptional :) Appetizer: Scallops 10/10 Mains: - macadamia crusted mahi mahi: 9/10 - could've definitely used more acidity. Had to ask for a lemon! - Hawaiian catch: 10/10 Drinks: 10/10

Taro rolls -- (free) and delicious!!!
    April S.

This was a beautiful place to eat! The service was great and the food was good. The taro rolls were my favorite part! For our food we got the Hawaiian catch, the macadamia crusted mahi, and two kids meals. They were all yummy. I think what keeps it from 5 stars is the extremely high price tag. I think you are paying the premium for the resort and the atmosphere, which is fine, but the food itself is not worth the very steep price tag (around $65+ for an entree and $20 for cocktail). For a family of five, you could easily spend $400. This was a nice one time meal but we wouldn't go back due to the price tag and the food not up to what it costs. Because of the price, I would caution families to look at the menu ahead of time before dining. You can find the same/better food off resort without the resort price tag.

We came here twice on our family vacation to Kauai. We weren't staying at the Grand Hyatt, but our rental house was a short walk away. Our first time here was a date night for my wife and I. We had a 5:30 reservation. We arrived early and ordered some drinks at the bar. I got their Aloha Old Fashioned which is an Old Fashioned with a tropical twist and my wife had a Raspberry Lemondrop. The drinks were great. The ambiance of this place is top notch. All open air underneath tropical hut type structure with water all around and resort views. It's perfect. Food wise we split a Scallops appetizer. Very Good. For our entree we split a steak (filet), shrimp, and lobster combination. The food was excellent. Steak was cooked perfectly, and had a compound butter/red wine demi. We split items as we wanted to save room for dessert. My wife usually is limited in choices because she can'thave gluten, but they had a number of items on the dessert menu marked gluten free. We ordered the Coconut Cream Cheesecake and the Molten Chocolate Cake. Both were amazing. They also had a Macadamia Nut Creme Brulee marked gluten free as well. Great Job having those options. Our second visit was just for dessert and drinks with our kids as we wanted to bring our kids because two of them also can't have gluten, so we wanted to let them enjoy all the gluten free desserts. Our service on both nights was perfect. Price Wise definitely expensive but not as bad as some high-end steakhouses in other places I've been too. Only 26 dollars to add lobster to your steak in a place like this seems like a major win. Great experience and I would definitely return the next time I'm in Kauai.

The ambiance wasn't as beautiful as their website pictures show. It was very misleading. The Mai Tai's were the very best we had over our 9 day trip. Not too sweet and a good pour! The service was very good. The rolls that people rave about were not close to what people stated. They were average at best. We split the rib eye dinner which was the worst we have ever had. The Malasadas donuts for desert were the best part of the meal. So delicious!!! If you want a great place with ambiance and great food go to Duke's. For Tidepools, I would only go back for the Mai Tai's.

    Hawaiian Catch

On our last night of our honeymoon we decided to eat at Tidepools restaurant and it did not disappoint one bit. Every drink, app, entree and dessert hit the spot. What made our dinner even more special was our server braddah Kylen. He was very kind, friendly, and personable. We've lived on the mainland for over 10 years and he made us feel right at home. His aloha is what made our night. If we're ever back on Kauai we'll definitely make an effort to stop at this restaurant

Amazing service and delicious food! Came for late birthday dinner with the fam and had a great time. The taro rolls were great, I inhaled 2 right when they got to the table. We did family style and got the lamb chops and scallops for apps, both were finished within minutes. Got the Hawaiian catch, opah, and ribeye all cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. For dessert, we got a nice plate of malasadas, chocolate lava cake, and ice cream with the fixings as a birthday treat. Thank you so much to our waiter! I'd definitely come back when on the island. Everyone was very friendly and the atmosphere was so laidback and relaxed. If you dine there, you do get validated parking*

    Ask the Community - Tidepools

Is there a kids menu at Tidepools?

Yes they have a kids menu at Tidepools.

My husband packed great shirts but managed not to forget shorts 🤦🏻‍♀️ and my reservation is Thursday, do I need to cancel?

I went in shorts and a shirt. No problem

We will be celebrating an anniversary and want to bring our favorite wine as the 1st bottle. What is the corkage fee? Thank you.

    $35 up to 2nd

    Is there a dress code?

    Smart casual.

Can I bring in a small outside cake for our wedding dinner reception of 9 people? If yes, will there be a fee to cut or can we cut and serve ourselves?

Aloha Vangie, no, we do not allow outside cakes. Our pastry team would be happy to make something for you. If you can please email infokauai@hyatt.com I can email you the cake book & form. Aloha.

I called to change my reservation and left a message.. no one has called me back. Celebrating an anniversary and special occasion?

Hi, please email me the desired changes for your reservation & I will ensure it gets to the manager and hopefully we can fulfill the request. Email infokauai@hyatt.com. Mahalo.

I want to take my girlfriend here on October 2, 2021. can i walk-in or do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations absolutely recommended and safest. Their bar area is "first come" but relatively small. You can also get lucky and walk-in and benefit from a no show - that worked for my family. But, I wouldn't count on it. Good luck.

Just had my reservation auto-changed from 5:45 to 7:45 and to a day sooner. Does this happen often and is it worth the hassle?

Hi Becky N., I am not aware of this ever happening. Can you please reach out to me at infokauai@hyatt.com so that I can get more info and look into it. Mahalo.

What are the happy hour hours and what are the deals? Thank you

29% off drinks & 1/2 off select apps - it was really good!

We ordered the spicy ramen and the butterfish and both dishes were excellent! This restaurant is always one of the restaurants we look forward to dining at. I love the ambiance. It's very homey for an upscale restaurant, and the view is spectacular especially if you go early enough to catch the sunset. The staff are very welcoming as soon as you check in for your reservation. I recommend that you make reservations ahead of time. One year we tried to walk in right when they opened and we were told that they did not have any tables available. I ordered the Slow Roasted short ribs, which is one of my favorites. The short ribs were so tender and seasoned very well. Each bite was flavorful. It paired well with the root vegetables and potato au gratin. The poi and the lomi tomato may sound like a strange pairing with the short ribs, but somehow it works. Overall it was a fantastic dish, and very rich to the palate if that is something you're in the mood for. My daughter ordered the Misoyaki Butterfish. I personally have never ordered it as a meal but I think that next time I will. It was so flavorful, and the Asian flavors were delicious. The Chinese cabbage and shiitake mushrooms paired well with the entire dish. The sesame chili sauce that comes on the side just tied everything together. I could not stop going back for more. My husband ordered the ramen and he loved the flavor of the broth. There was a nice spice to it that was not overpowering. Let's just say, he finished the entire bowl. We also ordered a regular chocolate soufflé and a peanut butter soufflé which were both delicious. I recommend them both. I knocked off a star because the waters weren't always filled when you needed them to be, and I found myself wanting more water but it took a while for the server to fill them. The plates weren't cleared readily (as you would expect) and we waited 20 minutes after our meal was completed for the soufflés. Usually the server would ask ahead of time if the table would like to order a soufflé because it takes about 20 minutes to bake. We told our server we wanted to order soufflés pretty much when we ordered our entrees. So I'm not sure why we waited so long for them. Overall, this is a fantastic restaurant and I highly recommend you dining here!
