Came here with the family on a Saturday evening. We had made a reservation and were seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Our food came out quickly, which was good. There was a bit of a mix up on a few of the side items, but they were eventually able to straighten us out. The food itself was outstanding. I had the grilled Mahi and my wife had grilled scallops, and both were very well prepared. My son had the fish and chips and said that the batter was too peppery, but everything else was good. The staff was very attentive and really seemed to care about our satisfaction. Good seafood is hard to find around Atlanta, but this was a quality place that we will return to. read more

I liked this place! We arrived around 8:30pm on a Friday night and it wasn't crowded, at all. Just steady, a few parties. I was shocked. I think the West Village area in Smyrna is still getting it's legs. We asked to be seated outside and we were. The breeze was nice and it wasn't too humid out at all. If you can sit outside, do so. I ordered a drink,Hoisted Up, or something like that. It was pretty sweet and fruity, it did sneak up on me a little later on though. I also decided to go with the Mahi Mahi sandwich with spicy remoulade on the side. It normally comes with tartar sauce. The fish was well seasoned and tender. I thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich. I do wish the bread wasn't so thick though. The remoulade was a nice touch, I wonder what the tartar sauce was like? Especially since the server told us that they make everything in house. The fries were crispy and salty, perfect! I went for it and ordered dessert, the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. It was pretty good actually! I enjoyed it. I have been here twice. Once during happy hour and once on a Friday night. I was surprised at how relatively empty it was. But of course was seated rather quickly. The menu has many different options. I enjoyed the food most during happy hour because we ordered multiple appetizers and shared. The seafood nachos were delicious. Decided to try this place since it's nearby. I called my order in and someone name Mike answered the phone. I told him I wanted to place an order for takeout and he said hold on and then hung up. I immediately had the did he just hang up on me face (insert thinking emoji). Well I called right back and Peter answered this time. I told Peter that I just called and Mike hung up on me. Now I feel like we all know each other by first name but not on good terms. Peter apologized and said he would be glad to help. I placed my order for a Catfish P and dessert. I was told to go to the bar when I arrived and my order would be ready in 20 mins. I arrived in about 15 mins expecting to wait and I did. I waited at the bar for a few minutes and nobody came over. I went to the hostess stand and let them know i was there to pickup my order but nobody was helping me at the bar. I look around and there is one person working the bar. Big problem. The guy finally comes over, I paid for my food and waited since it's not ready. No problem because I'm expecting hot food. About 5-10 mins later it arrives and I open it to check for accuracy. Y'all my catfish looked like it had been pulled for the water, Filet, battered and fried for all of 1 min. The fish was so soft, oily and it wasn't even hot or room temperature. In a nut shell it wasn't done! I told the guy at the bar that my food wasn't done and he looked at me like well it's not my problem and called the manager. When he called her he said the lady at the bar said her food wasn't done. I'm thinking this has to be Mike. I know seafood and I know you should not be able to pull batter off of fish like I was. The only reason I gave them two stars is because of the manager, Mary Lay. She was sweet, offered to make my food over or give me something else. I did decline because of the poor customer service I experienced. I understand restaurants have bad days but it's all about customer service. There were red flags in the beginning with Mike and I should've stopped and went somewhere else. I know they are owned by McCrays and I'll be interested to see how long they last. I received a message from the owner apologizing for my previous visit and they extended an invite to return. My husband and I decided to take them up on the offer and dined one Sunday evening with no expectations. Immediately when I walked in the door I noticed a difference because I was actually greeted by the hostess with black wavy hair and glasses. She was wonderful and welcoming. Let's talk about how a restaurant with a less than great reputation win back service. It's simple, they do what they say and say what they mean. I requested to speak with Matt and he arrived promptly. He was a nice gentleman and let me know his family now owns the restaurant and he apologized for the previous experience. We were shown to our table and our server was Darrin. Okay, Darrin is fabulous and honestly has a voice for radio but that's a different story. We were given a complimentary crab dip appetizer which was yummy. I ordered the shrimp platter and my husband chose the shrimp and fish platter. Our food was delicious and I absolutely love the house vinaigrette dressing that comes with the salad. Matt checked on us several times throughout our dinner and provided us his business card with his cell phone number if we had any future problems. This is how you gain back business. Went here on a Friday night, ordered the clam strips, calamari, stuffed shrimp, bang bang shrimp, half pound of raw oysters and half pound of the Cajun oysters with bacon added to it. I had the seafood scampi for dinner and my date had the grouper. We got Moscow mules for drinks and ended dinner with a slice of strawberry cheesecake. We have been coming here for many years. We go way out of our way to come here in fact. The seafood is consistently of high quality. The mussels are a favorite with a creamy but light broth and perfect grilled toast for dipping. Salmon BLT is delicious. I always trust the seafood will be fresh. I have been to Hook, Line, and Schooner a few times. The atmosphere is great. It's definitely seafood themed! This past time I went with the Dining Out Passbook for 2023. My friend and I each ordered a mixed drink. She got a Moscow mule which she said she enjoyed, and I got an old fashioned. (I am determined to try them all!) for appetizers she got the fried calamari and I got the crispy brussel sprouts. I did not try the calamari, but the brussel sprouts were so good. I like the smaller ones and they were perfectly crispy and topped with cheese. For an entree I ordered the baked stuffed shrimp which is stuffed with crab cake and topped with a lemon butter sauce. It was served with potato bites and broccoli. The potatoes were good. I like my broccoli not too crunchy, but even with the texture I enjoyed that as well. Okay first off, this place has been ROBBED on their Yelp reviews. So I'm here to set the story straight for you Yelpers who are questioning the 3.5 star review.. To start, our waiter, Luke, was awesome. He was super helpful when we asked about different menu options and he kept my wine full all night. What more could you ever need in a man? Yes, they're busy and short-staffed right now, but he was on it, while working tables in sections all over the restaraunt. Go Luke! We loved you, and your amazing curly mullet. Next up, the food. The she crab soup was a killer starter. After that we were pumped for our entrees, and they did not disappoint. We got the stuffed lobster and surf & turf special, and both were everything we wanted. And the sides, man...the sides..I would eat any side they served me. Crunchy and cheesy and perfectly cooked and just oh so delicious. The food was good but not exceptional(hence the 2 stars instead of 1) although the manager/ owner was very professional and tried to make up for the lack luster service our table was receiving. But damage was already done. Made a reservation online. Walked in waitress didn't ask if we had a reservation or not just asked how many were in our party. Three of us arrived a little early. She asked if the others would be joining and sat us at the back of the restaurant at a 6 top table. The waitress was cold. No introduction at all. She took our drink orders. When the rest of party arrived which wasn't too far away. She came over and asked for drinks. When she brought the drinks, there was no introduction of the menu or suggestions, she just asked, "yall ready to order" with an attitude. We weren't ready because we were looking at pics on yelp since we never been there and the waitress wasn't friendly or helpful at all. We ordered appetizers when she came back. Then she pretty much was absent after that. The manager/owner waited on our table after that. The kitchen was also slow and seemed unorganized. Our main entrees came out all at different times. This is a review of a meal I has delivered. This was just terrible. Worst meal I've ever had delivered by Uber Eats. I have dined in at this place and the food was good. This, on the other hand, was dreck. I paid $27 for fried oysters, shrimp and scallops. What came was over battered and fried so dark brown it was almost black. Same with the calamari. (Not one of the fried lumps of dough remotely tasted like an oyster.) They have better seafood at Captain D's. I guess this is what happens when there us no accountability. One of my favorite restaurants in my community. The service is always good, friendly, and efficient. I enjoy the daily specials!! Especially 1/2 price bottles of wine. I also enjoy the peel and eat shrimp. They are always plump, hot, and delicious. The hush puppies are to die for. I judge seafood restaurants by their hush puppies, tartar sauce, and fried seafood. Hook line checks all the boxes. The lobster roll is very good but very small. I've honestly never had a bad meal with Hook line. My daughter loves it too and looks forward to going very week. Kids eat free on Wednesday!! I recommend the fish sticks. The fish sticks are really good and when possible you can get adult fish sticks. The location is right off 285. Easy access on and off. We started with the blackened shrimp nachos. They were ok. A little dry from lack of Queso. By the time we asked for a little more the food had loss its reverence. The service was Less Than. I summoned many servers including what turned out to be the manager to ask for help but it appeared that everyone was on a different vibration. So between my wife and I we had an appetizer water and a Bloody Mary. We were there for about an hour. We all have off days I get it. One of the managers, I believe her name was Mary did check in with us when we requested to meet a manager. I have to admit I was a little frazzled because from all the other reviews it appeared like this place was a place for someone like me. I walked away feeling like it was not even after the kind gesture made by the management. But she did invite us to come back- so this may be the staple that gets me a second chance. Displeased with the manager, Erin!! Poor Customer Service. I have been to Hook Line and Schooner at least three times now. Although this restaurant is a good drive for me, I will often visit this establishment when I'm in the area because I absolutely love their charbroiled oysters. My best friend and I often come just for the oysters and will often order several orders. I must say that this time, we both were sadly disappointed to find that the HS charbroiled oysters that we ordered were so tiny that you could barely see or taste them. Even the guy that brought them to our table agreed that they were extremely small and initially said that the manager would likely give us a couple of more oysters to make up for the size. If anything, we should have been pre-warned that the oysters were smaller than normal so that we can decide if we wanted to pay full price or just not order them at all upfront. Well, when we mentioned it to our server Darrin, who was great by the way, he was advised by the manager, Erin, to advise us that the oysters were priced at market price and that she could not do anything outside of take them back and remove them from our check. First of all, the oysters were and are always listed as 9.95 per order of six on the menu (not market price). Second of all, we have always gotten nice size oysters when coming here. If anything, in the past if the oysters were running small, they would add on 1-2 more to compensate. We asked to speak with Erin, again thinking as the manager, she would offer us a better option. We really wanted to enjoy several orders of oysters and were willing to pay for them. She, unfortunately, was not friendly at all and was rather quick and blunt about it stating that the only option was to take the oysters back and not charge us for them. Very disappointing as we just wanted her to be fair. Needless to say, we went ahead and just paid for the serving, however it was not our usual experience. I went ahead and ordered the whole flounder as my main entrée with a cup of she crab soup. The flounder was good, just needed a little more seasoning (7). The she crab soup was excellent (9)! My friend ordered catfish, shrimp, and a lobster tail. She enjoyed her food as well. Our server was great overall! So disappointed in the manager, Erin, however! She really put a bad taste in my mouth and actually cost the restaurant money vs saving as we normally order at least 2-3 servings of oysters. This was my 4th or 5th and last time going to this restaurant. The first 2 times I went the food and drinks were good. My 3rd visit for my daughters birthday I ordered crab cakes. The crabcakes were the size of a quarter and they were burnt. My next visit 11/19 I took a friend and this was his first and last time. We both ordered the fried seafood platter. The platter came with fried catfish, shrimp and hushpuppies. All of the food was cooked in old grease and burnt. My friend threw up immediately when we got home. Visited this place on a whim with a friend this afternoon. From the moment we walked in the door it was an awesome place. Saturday, 11-19 arrived for party of 4. Seated promptly and the young lady was very pleasant. Food was great. Issue: She was the only one on the floor taking orders and serving. There were 4 others working and the patronage was light. Service very slow as no one was able around to assist. There was an air of being disaffected by the other staff. Like they had somewhere else they'd rather be (don't we all!) but they let it show. So the reviews on this place have been mixed on yelp. I live right down the street so I decided to come here to celebrate my 3 year marriage anniversary. First thing I noticed when we arrived was a very kind greeting and a very clean seating area. Our server Darren was very sweet and accommodating. The shrimp Nachos are a must try. The flavor of the blackened seasoning with the combo of the chips and queso was great. The shrimp is large and Cooked just right. Not frozen or cheap. For around $12 this is a can't miss affordable starter. Next we're the hush puppies. Wow what a light and sweet taste. Very fluffy inside. Also a good portion. The wife and I both opted for the Grouper and it did not disappoint. The fish was flakey and the edges cooked just right to have a little crisp. Overall a great dining experience. My sisters and I ate there last night to celebrate my birthday. We were delighted with the service. Luke was fantastic. My sisters had the salmon stuffed with crab and I had the ahi tuna. Two of us had roasted beets, (how often do you see that on a menu?) and all three of us had creamed spinach. One of my sisters had the potatoes. All the sides were delicious. In addition two Caesar salads and a mixed greens salad were wonderful. The cake they served for my birthday was huge and one of the best I've ever tasted.
