I've always loved HopCat! I'm not sure anyone will beat their fries. My husband got the fish and chips which was tasty, I got fire wings which never disappoint, and we tried the new Buffalo Mac which we loved! My husband also tried their new build your own old fashioned and loved it! I got a sauv blanc- which I'm so glad they added after only having box wine! Overall I would say the whole menu improved and I can't wait to go back and try the Buffalo chicken dip! Service and music is usually good here too! read more

Hadn't been to HopCat in a few years so decided to meet a friend for lunch. Like usual they had a great selection of beers to offer. However, the burger I ordered was disappointing. The beef patties were overcooked and tasteless. I don't think I'll be going there again. Too many better choices nearby. read more

It took 45 mins for us to get our food on a Monday. No apologies. Had to ask for straws for our drinks which took 15 mins to get and having to ask twice. In my opinion, these tourist places downtown are all show. They look nice but the service is bad and the food is at most mediocre. I got 6 wings for $14, asked for crispy, came out soggy. Like what everyone else has been saying, Cosmik Fries were the bomb! We were kind of at a cross between the Poutine and the Sloppy Joe but we got the Sloppy Joe version and it did not disappoint! When you order from the menu it also comes with cosmik fries though I don't think you get to choose what style as its just your regular style fries. Still good nevertheless. The waiter was superb and very engaging and the outside seating was very nice. There's a huge selection of drinks, and you can make your own mac and cheese! The burgers are also massive and very filling. You get to sample as many beers as you want, and they serve your chosen beers in nice wine glasses. I don't understand why the ratings are low, but my boyfriend and I had a pleasant dining experience at Hopcat and we were able to enjoy the atmosphere of the place which allowed us to take time in eating our food. The place is beside an area currently under construction and is separated from the bar/food scene in this specific area of Holland. But the night scene is lively and filled with lots of people and definitely an eye catcher at night regardless of its location. read more

Our first meal upon arriving in Holland, the burgers and chicken sandwiches were bursting with flavor! Due to the on-going pandemic, we ordered through Doordash and our fries were a bit cold, however, the entrees were still warm and made the meal worth it. 12/26/24 at 4:10 pm, two of us entered and the place was quite empty with at least 12 high top tables open and 6 people at the bar. I asked to sit at a high top for drinks and told no since there was no server. I explained I'd just go to the bar to order and then we would just sit at a table. No bueno again! I asked for the manager, made the same request and still, NO BUENO! Our experience here was a little disappointing. While some of the things were out of the control of our server, I do not feel like this person was very attentive at all. A friend and I had a great conversation and some really good beverages (me: gin & tonics; friend: beers) at Hop Cat in Holland tonight, but what really motivated me to come home and write a review was the Elote Queso! This wonderful queso & chips shareable will be my new favorite thing to order at Hop Cat. I also want to mention that we had an excellent server named Daniel who was sociable, attentive, and really knew his stuff. (Hope College student?) Decided to get takeout from here as we were both craving something easy and usually love hop cats burgers, cosmic fries and grilled cheese. We were both extremely disappointed with our meals. Sure, takeout isn't always as great as eating in house but this was terrible. My boyfriend found a piece of paper in his burger and the cheese was all burnt. My grilled cheese was barely melted and the apples looked brown. The mac and cheese was barely covered in cheese and the packaging seemed poorly thought of since the paper they used in the to go box absorbed all the cheese sauce. We both felt very uneasy and ended up wasting most of the meal. The place wasn't even busy when we walked in! We wont be coming back. read more

Food was great at Hopcat! I ordered a lunch burger off the new lunch menu. Super yummy. Came with Food Network magazine's top 20 French fries in America. They were good, although I'm not sure how a magazine could rank top 20 from thousands of options! Others at the table loved their food...Buddha Bowl, Blue Cheese Stuffed Burger, Pork Tostadas, Mac and Cheese. Reataurant was large, clean and bright. Lots of people eating on the patio areas. I think they have one of the best veggie burgers I've ever had, so I love getting them. However, when ordering takeout the last few times they always seem to be at least 20-30 mins behind the time they quoted the food would be ready. Just can't say enough! Great communication, had a small wait up front, got to the patio in less than 5 minutes. Would leave negative stars if i could. I Ordered a Wrap I specifically told them i did not want tomatoes or avocados especially the avocados since i was allergic. Waitress said no problem. Had a family member from out of town visiting us, we wanted to bring them somewhere other than a chain restaurant. The Cosmik fries were spot on, super fresh and crispy, very much worthy of their national ranking. Our meals were great. We had the Madtown grilled cheese, Nashville hot chicken sandwich, a cheeseburger, Killer mac-n-cheese, and the braised beef dip sandwich. Everything was hot and fresh when it hit the table, cooked well and very flavorful. We were however, disappointed to find out they were out of "Impossible Burgers," but there are plenty of other options for those who are of the vegetarian variety. My second time here in a month and almost the same exact disappointing experience both times. Arrived at 4 for happy hour the bartender seemed put out to have customers. The two of us and one other customer at the huge bar. Last visit we were there at 5 and the bartender said happy hour ended at 5 when the sign clearly said 5:30. If an establishment is going to have a happy hour to bring in guests the staff should not act like it is an affront to them when people come in.
