Won't go here ever again, we have 2 small dogs, 5 lbs each, This location offers outside seating in and open patio area. We had our Two dogs in a covered, sealed, secure stroller meant for dogs and we were kicked out of the patio area by a rude hostess. What is the point of having outdoor seating If you can't bring your dogs. We also had our 6 month old baby is another stroller but of course that wasn't a problem for them. I don't see how that is any different that my enclosed dog stroller but anyway... thanks for nothing. You won't see us again. Update: I contacted them via messenger to complain about this and they said they can't allow dogs in there patio area because the Michigan Health Department won't allow it. To which I replied, clearly it is allowed because of how many restaurants allow dogs on their patios in MI. They asked which locations allow it and told me that ALL of them were skirting the law. Hmm... Yeah I'm sure the health department would just let that many people break the law if it really mattered. Great brewery/gastropub located in the heart of downtown Holland and close by the amazing farmers market. Upon my visit there was construction all around this establishment making it a task to walk up to the brewery and inside. Being on a Saturday sunny spring afternoon with downtown bustling this place was packed. I couldn't wait to go inside. Being alone I found one bar stool at the bar. They also have a patio but the wait was way to long. Cozying up on my stool I found the noise level to be loud, and plenty of nostalgia items on the well to look at. Staff tending bar were busy but made time to talk to me about the beer menu and what symbols meant on their and suggested a few beers per my preference. They even let me taste a couple. Deciding on one it was poured quickly and I was given a menu. I wasn't hungry but noticed they had a wide spread of options at fair prices. My beer choice was a light Mexican toned beer compared to corona. I bring my own beer salt and it paired well. It went down cold and smooth. Knowing I was doing my own walking beer tour downtown I inquired about their crowlers and staff told me it was a special that day so I chose my beer and took my growler with me. It's still in my fridge ready to be opened. I love that breweries are now doing this. Great place that's clean, trendy, friendly and yummy with decent prices. I'd visit often if I lived in the area. I can't understand how this place doesn't have more stars! Our food was excellent. I only do yelp reviews if something is really bad, or really great! This is not typical bar food. Its definitely bar food re-imagined. They have local beers but also a full bar. Funky and cute retro decor with big booths. I had the mac and cheese with tomatoes..loved it! If they continue to be a high traffic restaurant, they will need to rethink their host station. There is no good or welcoming place to wait after giving your name. HopCat is not 'bad', just not a lakeshore original. We did food only with UberEats and it was fine (nice portions, real and healthful choices on the kids' menu). Despite New Holland Brewery corporate holdings, if you're wanting a downtown Holland food and drink experience, that's where locals go. For beer only, Blue Lake, and for foodies, well, it depends on preference of cuisine. There are several new restaurant options in Holland. HopCat is regional / national, which is awesome for them. Their roots are downtown GR and in some respects that's the best place to experience formerly known as crack fries and the like. Plenty of outdoor seating is a bonus during nice weather. read more

Burger's were burnt and overcooked.......chicken Tendies we dry, burnt and overcooked......manager explanation was that the chicken is prepped in the morning then placed in the freezer. I was not happy with the meal I just had a HopCat Holland tonight. First off, we were told the meal would be ready for pickup at 6:30 and we drove there and waited until 7:15 until our food was finally brought out. I'm fine with the longer wait times just let me know the actual estimated time so I don't drive there to pick it up and end up waiting in the parking lot for 45 minutes. Then, as pictured, when I went to eat the food there was still a piece of paper in my sandwich from where the cheese was being stored. I also took a bite into the food and tasted something strong and sour and realized that it was a completely brown and spotted apple slice that had gone bad yet was still placed on my sandwich. And then the icing on the cake is that the grilled cheese was not actually cooked through and it still had cold slices of cheese in the middle. I went here twice in one week on both Saturday & Wednesday. I was a little worried due to the reviews in summer. I wish I could give HopCat 5 stars, as I love the food, but due to some inconsistencies, I can't. On Saturday, a friend & I ordered two burgers & the kids' chicken tender meal. I also ordered a spicy bloody mary. Our server forgot to put in my bloody mary, so I had to sort of chug it after my meal came when I reminded her, so that was a little off putting. It was spicy like she said! I really like spice, so I really enjoyed it, including the toppings! It was one of the better bloody marys I've had for sure when it comes to spicy ones! I ordered the stuffed bleu burger with cosmik fries & cheese sauce and it was amazing! The burger was cooked excellent, and the fries & cheese sauce were so good, I took them home to let my husband try them and he liked him and he wanted to try HopCat. My friend and her child really liked their meals as well. On Wednesday, it wasn't as an enjoyable experience, but still good. Our server Skyler, was AMAZING. She recommended items to us and told us a good deals. She honestly made the night in my opinion! She had a lovely sense of humor as well. Everyone here both days were really nice & friendly! My husband was really floored with the meal as well. He ordered the cowboy burger with fries & cheese sauce as well as a side of mac & cheese. He said the fries & mac & cheese were among some of the best he's ever had at a restaurant in Holland. His only complaint was the center of the burger was very rare. I agreed and my burger was also very rare in the center & still somewhat bloody. I understand they are thick burgers (& stuffed and you don't want the cheese to ooze out while cooking) and the outside was crispy (which I enjoy), but the burger should have been cooked for longer at a lower heat. It was still good and favorable and a burger that is rare can be okay, but it was just too rare for us. The burger I had on Saturday was perfect and was a bit rare in the middle and it was GREAT. This was too bloody for me! My largest complaint about the night-- was the cheese sauce. We paid $3 total to have cheese sauce with our fries. It was SEVERELY watered down from Saturday. I didn't care for it and honestly wouldn't order it again if that's how it is. My husband enjoyed his still, however. I also took my fries & cheese sauce home and it was odd because the cheese sauce literally "fell off" & didn't stick to the fries at all. That was my experience while dining in the restaurant as well. It was just too thin and watery. It was seriously delicious on Saturday when I had it though! It was very thick and stuck to my fries while hot and my leftovers the next day. As said, the food is amazing and we will return, I'm sure! I'm just a little concerned about the inconsistencies & it could be different chefs, I'm unsure. That cheese sauce being so thin/watery is what really knocked it down to 4 instead of 5 though. We were charged full price for our food even though my wife wasn't able to eat her burger and we were disappointed at the lack of effort to make things right.
