We decided to try something new today for lunch and I am so glad we did. First of all, you are greeted with a smile and a hello and that right there start your meal out perfectly. They have so much to choose from. So you can get your burgers as a meal or on its own. Every burger comes with a double patty of meat, but you can get one with a single patty. The burgers are cooked to order and when you get them, they are fresh. They are not over seasoned, but they do have the perfect amount of seasoning on each Patti. The bacon was crisp and they did not skimp on the pieces of bacon. The vegetables are fresh and crisp and quite cold. The pickles are absolutely phenomenal and so tasty with the perfect crunch. The french fries came out fresh and salted perfectly and they were so tasty. The buns tasted a lot like challah bread. It was soft and flavorful and absolutely tasty. If I am being 100% honest, I have not had a burger that good in a long time. We enjoy burgers a lot and we're always looking for new places to try out and this is at the top of the list. If you are ever in the Richmond area, make sure you give this amazing hamburger joint a try. We thoroughly enjoyed this meal so much that we cannot wait to go back. While out in the Richmond/Grand Parkway area my wife and I were hungry and wanted to try a new places. Saw this place Wayback Burgers in a retail center and said let's give it a shot! Khoi the cashier greeted us and we told him it was our first time there! We gave a couple of papers with the menu on them. He ask if we had any questions he be able to help us! We asked for any suggestions and he told us the number one choice was the A-1 Steak Double Burger! So we ordered 2, one with cheese curds and one with onion rings and 2 Coke zeros! Khoi said it would take about 10 minutes to get fresh and hot meals out. It was about 10 minutes and Khoi brought out our food. Fresh, Hot and looked oh so good! The burgers double patty's were like smash burgers on a potato bun. Hot and juicy with cheese that was melted. Cheese Curds were hot and cheesy, but a little salty. The onion rings were hot and just the right amount of batter and with a whole onion inside. Fountain Coke Zeros were a good drink from the fountain dispenser. This was the nastiest food I've ever had. The buns were soggy and the meat was disgusting. I came with my wife the other day and the short black lady in the back gave me and my wife so much attitude, the whole place seemed unprofessional and the employees were talking the entire time rather than making our food, which took almost an hour to make. The store was filthy and the soda tasted horrible, almost as if the machine hadn't been cleaned ever. The cheese curd portions are a joke, they come with like 5 curds and are too expensive. Their floors in the mens bathroom are nasty and my wife found the women's bathroom gross as well. Overall a horrible experience, you couldn't pay me a million to eat here again. Not a bad little spot. Prices are comparable to so some other multiple men chains. This however is a fun "nod" to a burger from a TX chain. Is it exact? No but it's a good compromise. I really like the restaurant's dining room decor, the staff was very friendly and helpful with the "build your own" options. So I ordered a single with fries selecting my choice of condiments and toppings. The prices were reasonable but my burger was just ordinary. Obviously, the key ingredient on a burger is the beef patty and their's was completely without seasoning. There was no char that would have come from a hot grill. If you really want to taste the juiciness of the beef patty, you're better off ordering straight meat and cheese- The Cheeesy Burger aka the Patty melt. The classic burger was okay (3/5) but the ketchup/mustard combo overpowered the flavor of the meat. Their fries are crispy, but the flavor reminded me of kettle potato chips so if that's your thing, you're going to love it. Nothing special about the tater tots either. I tried wayback burger and it's definitely better than fast food burger places for sure but it does need to improve on some very important things. I had cheese curds and while they tasted great (they're better without the seasoning) they do need to give you some ranch or marinara sauce to dip them in; they're a bit pricey but still good. Their onion rings were perfect and I have no complaints about them. Their beef bacon is great as well. However, for some reason their beef was too soft, unseasoned, and small. idk if they undercooked the beef but the patty didn't seem to have much flavor so they definitely need to fix that and increase the size of the beef patty. Their burger bun is ok but I feel like they could find a better one that isn't so soft. Their chipotle mayo didn't have much flavor either. They have some core things they need to address but if they do I can see them being a competitive burger spot. We stopped in at Wayback Burger for lunch. I was impressed with the young lady behind the counter, Jaysea. She knew the whole menu back and forth. I asked a lot of questions, and she answered them all expertly! I ordered the Steakhouse Burger, which was pretty delicious. I thought it was well seasoned overall. If I were to change anything, slightly less sauce would be my preference, but overall it was a good size and flavor. I like that it didn't fall apart. It was easy to eat. Full disclosure: when I placed my order, Jaysea informed me that the picture has mushrooms, but the actual burger does not, and asked if I'd like to add them (which I did). My husband had the Burbon burger. It had a tangy, maybe mustard-based sauce that he thought was quite tasty. No complaints. I had fries with my burger, and they were just fries. But my husband had the onion rings, which he shared, and they were delicious! Those onion rings! In the end, this is a new place that hasn't even had their Grand Opening yet, so I can afford to be generous in my rating. I certainly plan to return! They are in a fantastic location. I am very disappointed with my experience at Wayback Burgers, especially since I had been looking forward to trying it for a while. As soon as I had a day off, I decided to go, but the visit was far from what I expected. From the moment I arrived, I noticed a girl with two ponytails and different colored rubber bands in her hair, standing off to the side and texting on her Apple Watch. When I placed my order, the cashier persistently tried to upsell me on items I did not want, forcing me to firmly insist on only ordering what I wanted. It took 17 minutes for me to receive my food, and when I finally did, the fries were cold. I informed the girl who had been texting, and she went back to the kitchen. I overheard a heated conversation about the fries, with one of the employees getting visibly upset and claiming she had just dropped them. Two younger employees in the back seemed disengaged--one answered her phone while ducking down, and the other simply listened to the argument. I asked to speak to the manager, only to discover that the upset employee was the manager herself. She apologized and explained that her frustration was with her employees, not with me, and assured me they had been in training for three weeks. When my fries were finally replaced, the girl with the ponytails brought them to me, still wearing the same gloves she had been texting with earlier. And in fact, as soon as she put my fries in the bag, she immediately started texting again on her Apple Watch. This is extremely unsanitary and unprofessional. To top it off, my burger was very dry and overcooked. I was excited to try Wayback Burgers but will not be returning. I should've took my $18 and went to Tornado Burger instead.
