Craving for some fried chicken and around the corner was Urban Bird Hot Chicken. The staff was patient and courteous. Had their popular Tenders Basket in lemon zesty flavor, and was pretty disappointed with it. The tenders were definitely not jumbo size, and they were dry. The lemon zesty flavor didn't come through for me too. The toast was the only decent food in the basket. The store is pretty small and definitely not for big crowds. It seems hot chicken is the latest craze. They're popping up everywhere. Simple concept - chicken tenders with your flavor of sauce on a bun or not, fries, pickles. The wife and I have tried several and like the food. So we were out the other day and saw Urban Bird HC. So in we went. Again, simple menu, but with some interesting combinations. We split a basket and kept it simple, 3 strips with 3 different sauces and fries. Oh, and a slice of bread on the bottom - that's important. The chicken tenders were huge. Just enough sauce so it wasn't over kill and messy. Really good crispy FFs. And remember that bread in the bottom, a slice of buttered Texas toast and it had soaked up all those flavors - now that was good. We really liked this place and definitely will come back. I love this place, I love their chicken and waffles, the service can be great and ok sometimes and the ambiance is good.

They won't take TX tax exempt- just FYI- I can't put tax on our purchase card and I had to cancel the order. I guess they didn't want us to use our money there- we went somewhere else. I've never had an issue at other restaurants/retail. read more

Quick and convenient. Like that they had a half order available of the urban fries. My fries did not come with the pickles as advertised and were heavily over sauced but I still enjoyed it. Food here is a bit salty as each thing is seasoned (fries, chicken, sauce) so if you need to watch your sodium intake be mindful. read more

Because I did so bad on my cheat day I thought I should counter it with some protein (heh heh). I think There used to be one of these shops on Kirby. But I didn't get to try it before they closed shop. So I thought I'd give them a try while in the burbs. The girl at the counter was super nice. She seemed new but she was really helpful and smiled and was everything you'd want in an employee. The tenders were soft and tasty. Urban bird turned out pretty good on my visit. We ordered the chicken sando and the tender and waffle meal. The sandwich was massive. It was a big, juicy chunky breast of chicken that came with all the fixings. The tenders were also very decent size and accompanied with a Belgian style crispy waffle. Once again, the tenders were good and flavorful. The waffle needed to be toasted a little bit more, as it was soft and tender. Perhaps, 90 more seconds would have done the job in the iron. I came here on a Sunday looking to try the chicken, but I was a bit disappointed. I got the 2 piece tenders basket and the Mexican corn to sub for the fries. I got Nashville Hot, but didnt think it was too spicy, nor flavorful, and it also tasted a bit sweet (which I am not a fan of). The corn was really disappointing. The bird sauce was also not anything special to me. Staff was nice though. Overall, it was ok. Maybe I'll try the other spices to see if it's better than Nashville Hot someday. read more

The food here is all right but overpriced for hot chicken. The bird pack gets the most value in terms of dollar, but the other options aren't worth it in my opinion. There's not enough chicken in each of the entree options to merit getting them. I would say it's the best halal hot chicken place in Richmond and the easiest one to go to if you live in Aliana, but the last time I went, they forgot all of our bird sauces. What's even the point of getting hot chicken, if we're not gonna get sauce with it. I like the seasoning on their fries. But I'm seriously reconsidering going again if we really don't get sauce with the chicken anymore. If you get the mac and cheese with hot cheeto side, they don't mix the mac and cheese with the hot cheeto 'powder', you have to do it yourself. The side is mid at best, the cup is also too small to easily mix it yourself. Not worth it, I like both of the fry options more if you're going to get them. read more

Racist workers cooking food!!!! Choose who ticket order they will fix. This was my second time going through this with this location ONLY! I waited 35 minutes while others whom came and placed orders AFTER me at the counter were given their food. Once I asked how much longer I was told 30 more min. Which in the process of that very moment a customer was handed their food who ordered 5 ppl behind me. Point proven!! Staff continued to stated that Uber eats gets their food differently which I totally understand and my issue was not about that. I literally sat and watched them ignore my ticket and choose who they wanted to cook for. I know it sounds crazy but it's my experience. Also the guy who works behind counter cooking the food will look up at me several times "eye contact" as if he's observing my patience!! Totally unacceptable!!! I will never go back here. Lastly a family and one other customer did observe this as well. The family ended up leaving before placing their order and the nice lady who came after me and got her food looked at me like...and shook her head in disbelief. We gave each other a smile as she walked out. But just knowing i wasn't the only one noticing it made me feel validated. the nashville mac is my go to order and it's phenomenal. the mix of nashville sauce and mac is such a good combo

The food was great and worth every penny! However, I believe some employee behavior should be addressed by the manager so that customers can enjoy their experience. While sitting and trying to enjoy lunch with my husband and daughter, one of the female employees left a back door open and left the entire restaurant, especially where we were sitting, hit with a cold breeze. Mind you it was 40 degrees outside. My husband finally had to get up and ask her to shut the door. This same employee and another female coworker did the same thing as they were leaving, this time leaving the front door open and sending another extremely cold breeze that hit all the customers in the dining area. Finally, one of these female employees was at one point sitting on the kitchen floor and chatting koudly with her coworkers. The young asian man at the register provided great service and stayed focused while his coworkers seemed to goof off. We'll be back unless this silly behavior happens again.
