Really weird service. Walked in, went to counter, lady didn't even wanna look at me and waited there like 1 full minute before she acknowledged my existence. It's been a few years since I was last in this area of Dallas for a conference so it's nice to see they have a few more restaurants. Hops & Hens is a pretty simple place. They have beer and they have chicken. Wings, tenders, sandwiches. Fries, tots, and that's about it. I had chicken tenders and tots with cheese. I do have to say that they tenders were quite large and incredibly tender. They were juicy and nicely seasoned. The tots and cheese were disappointing. The tots were mushy and the cheese sauce was a bit thick and unsuitable for the tots. It's actually a great place to take your kids. They have seating inside and out and it's the perfect place to bring the kiddos or anyone looking for something different than bbq or a nice sit down restaurant. This is a fast carpal chicken place operated, at Leary in part, by Omni Hotel. It's just outside the hotel. It has a country vibe, with a good sized patio that has direct bar access. The bar has a huge beer selection but looks like they can make cocktails too. Their food menu is basically tenders...fried, grilled, on a sandwich. Sauced or not. Several dips available if you don't want sauce. They also have a couple other items like salad...and a few different sides. But again a small menu, Odd they have tots but no fries. Overall a basic spot...they wouldn't survive if not subsidized & supported by the Omni. But with that said....the tenders had done great flavor and the H-H dip was perfect. Service was ok? The food here was really the star of the show here! They know chicken and their chicken tenders tasted AMAZING! I got that and their loaded tater tots. The tots were so good too! I was not a huge fan of the order from the counter as you walk in nor going back up to the bar for refills is not high on my lis. There are a few high tops towards the back, and the outside sitting area even has a space where you can engage in a game of cornhole. The vibe itself is a traditional American theme with a bar, a few televisions, and the self-serve condiment station. Simple. Cute. To the Point. Looking at the menu I was excited to see a variety of chicken options. The art of creativity with chicken still exists at Hops & Hens and I was ready to partake in what was being offered. LoL! I decided on a Side Caesar with The Texan. The Texan - $12.00 BBQ sauce, bacon, crispy onions The Chicken Tender base of The Texan provides the perfect canvas for the BBQ sauce, bacon, and crispy onions. Though simple by design, this sandwich is the furthest from simple. BBQ sauce - adds a tang that is sweet but not too sweet. Mild but not boring. And flavorful without being overpowering. Bacon - was crispy and sits well between the tenders and the BBQ Sauce. As the Tenders are crispy perfection, the crispness of the bacon adds a texture variation as the natural pork texture has a rougher feel compared to that of chicken. The natural pork-ness of the bacon further enhances the flavor of the chicken as it blends uniformly with the juice of the chicken. Ummmmmm! Crispy Onions - the secret warrior. The Crispy Onions give you a nice layer of salt, crunch, and crumble. They bring all the flavors together and marry the sandwich to be the mouthwatering, taste bud pleasing, hit of goodness that is needed. Stopped in for a night cap. This is apparently still part of the Omni hotel, so all drinks and food are served in to go containers incase you want to take back to your room. The staff is super friendly, real happy, chatty and willing to offer suggestions. We stopped by here on a whim, we needed to grab a quick bite before we headed to cidercade. I had no expectations, but was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the chicken ranch sandwich with crispy chicken and my husband ordered the TX hot sandwich with crispy chicken. Both were flavorful, but I preferred the chicken ranch sandwich. Unfortunately I forgot to take pics, I was just too hungry! The fountain sodas were okay, I ordered a ginger ale and it tasted water-down, my husband got a sprite and that was alright. The chicken was lightly battered, and it was juicy and delicious! Did I mention the sandwich was humongous! I also had a side Caesar salad. They don't skimp on the dressing, croutons, and parmesan. The salad was well coated, crisp and fresh. A very laid-back place where you place your food order at the counter and they assign you a number displayed on a stand. The sandwich had a good flavor and was well rounded. However it was not warm. I also ordered tater tots, they came out cold as well. Not sure what was happening in the kitchen but they clearly prepare food ahead of time. If you are going to do that, invest in a way to keep your product warm/hot. My experience here was just so-so. We stopped in to see about this restaurant looking for chicken and waffles. When we googled it online this one popped up. Now, I can't attest to the food, as we got here looked at the menu, and then decided to move on. They didn't have chicken and waffles. It is located at the Omni hotel complex, parking is limited unless. you want to pay and extravagant amount to park your vehicle, otherwise park far away and hoof it in on foot. What they serve is chicken strips, in either a basket or a sandwich. Seems all of it's Ala carte, as the main plates don't seem to come with anything other than the described item. Sides are all extra. Staff was fairly friendly. We looked over the menu and looked at things online for a bit before exiting, the staff was very nice and accommodating. Hops and Hens is a counter order/flag delivery restaurant just outside the Dallas Convention Center that specializes in chicken oriented dishes. It was convention season, so of course it was busy and the wait was a bit longer, but that was expected so no problems there. I went for the chicken fingers this time around, because after I had taken a peek at the plates everyone else had, this seemed like the best choice for lunch. The chicken fingers were excellent, and you could tell they were made of real chicken as opposed to reconstituted chicken like you would see at a lot of fast food restaurants. For a quick bite to eat, Hops and Hens is definitely a good choice. Just be aware that being so close to the convention center the line here can get flooded with patrons very quickly. read more

I tried this place on my other day of the convention. The drink wasn't that great. I would rate 2.5/5 The Texas hot crispy tenders were really good and they give one free dipping but I choose to get 2 which wasn't needed at all as the hot tenders were self sufficient by it self. The H&H sauce was also nice. I would rate it 4.5/5. Service was ok - 4/5 I was sitting outdoors and the environment was pretty decent. Again this is 3.5 star place. read more
