Food: Texas Spice Burger - One of the best burgers I've ever had, and I don't even usually like burgers. It was packed with flavor and cooked really well. The fries were a great size and seasoned perfectly too. The burger had a good amount of veggies, cheese, and sauce, so every bite was really satisfying. We also requested a lettuce wrap instead of the bun for one of the burgers since the bun can be a bit filling, and it still tasted amazing. Service: The staff were super nice, helpful, and attentive. Ambiance: It's very nice and clean inside. The restaurant is located inside the Omnia Hotel. it feels a little more upscale than a casual restaurant. That said, there doesn't seem to be a strict dress code since it's inside the hotel. Overall, it's a really nice spot to stop by. read more

So I went to an Experience Event they host several times a year at Texas Spice. You have to prepay as they need a head count in advance. The event is Farm to Flame! It was well organized and I really enjoyed it. It's a vibe and such a cool and FUN experience. It's pricey, but definitely worth the drive, time and COST! They set it up in a private area of the restaurant. It's outside on the back patio and you get to have a live BBQ dining experience. The chef is grilling and cooking the food. He also is very passionate and discusses why BBQ is so important. The decor is so country chic. I loved the tiny details of the table. It's such a cute space and you get to make your own seasoning blend. The drinks are flowing and the food is so GOOD! You get to try brisket, turkey, chicken and all the fixings. For the sides you have beans, slaw and greens. You get rolls and veggies, multiple sauces, pickles and onions. You get even more than what I said. Then you will finish it off with the dessert. They offer several options for cocktails. I chose a a spicy margarita and a lemon drop. They were both tasty. The bartenders were friendly, helpful and so nice. You have a live music experience. The guitar player was good. It was nice to have entertainment. This definitely is an experience that I would suggest. It's a FOODIE dream. I left so happy and full. The food, service and ambiance were AMAZING. The only slightly negative thing is the picnic tables were not my favorite. I like chairs with backs, but it was still a nice set up. I ordered the Texas Strip Steak Frites ($38). Good portion of steak and asked for mashed potato as my side. Really loved the food! Steak was seasoned and cooked very well. The mashed potato is one of the best I ever ate. Also I ordered dessert, I ordered Dr Pepper Texas Sheet Cake ($12). This was my favorite. I liked it more than the steak. Perfect sweetness, well presented, and really good texture. The following day, I ordered to-go order. I ordered Texas Spice Burger ($21). It was good, but didn't like the fries. Will return for the decor, service and food. High ceiling, industrial, large lighting features, booths and tables. Outdoor has couple of fire going on in a 74 degree Friday in May, before 12 noon. Service is good. We were initially seated by the wall. When asked to sit by the window - that looks out to the red flying horse - the renovated Pegasus - they changed without any fuss. We started off with two pineapple mimosas and water of course. For entrees we ordered the Texas Spice Breakfast Sandwich and the Black Bean Potato Hash. Sandwich: 6/10 Hash: 10/10 When my sandwich arrived it didn't have the caramelized onions that it stated it came with. Obviously, I'm annoyed. Our waitress was not the friendliest and after informing her, it seemed as if I was bothering her...ummm ma'am I'm the only one that should be bothered. Honey, I didn't forget the onions and neither did you so just let the kitchen staff know maybe? I have grievances because once the food came out what should have taken place was her stopping by to ask how everything looked and if anything additionally was needed. That didn't happen. We had to ask another waitress/server for the onions and to please get her attention. That's too much and not good service. Thankfully, the other waitress was attentive. We finally received the onions and that made the sandwich much better. The brioche bun helped and along with the avocado that my breakfast partner shared. The eggs were bland and not seasoned. I also didn't want to eat cold food. After finishing up, she seemed to have a little more pep in her step and appeared more attentive. Being that she knew she wasn't providing good service she didn't charge us for the mimosas. That made the experience a little better, but I for sure would not go back to Texas Spice. We went here because we were staying at the hotel this is located at. Because we went so late at night, it wasn't super busy and it looked like a modern restaurant. There was about 10 of us and we actually showed up closer to the time it was going to close, but they willingly sat us and stayed open longer for us. The staff themselves were really nice too. You have to go there in person to place a to-go order which means waiting on it to be made or making 2 trips. The restaurant's ambiance is upscale and professional. I ordered the smoked chicken cobb salad. Most of the romaine lettuce, the boiled egg, the bacon bits, tomatoes, and the avocado looked and tasted fresh. There were a number of discolored pieces of romaine lettuce that looked unappetizing. The smoked chicken looked very processed like it'd been frozen, was very very dry, and smelled strong. They only included one small side of dressing for an entree size salad. They should have included 2 small containers or 1 larger size dressing container. For a $20 salad, I think they could do better. Minus the chicken and bad lettuce pieces, I'd say the salad was 4 out of 5 stars. The dry chicken gets 1 star. read more

I had the chance to preview their Farm to Flame open-fire BBQ experience, and it was too good! You can tell Chef Jimmy is passionate about BBQ; every bite was flavorful, juicy, and perfectly tender (not a dry piece in sight). The sauces ranged from classic to creative (I was especially glad to see a Carolina-style option in the mix). The sides were just as impressive, especially the greens! They were jam-packed with flavor. For dessert they brought out a massive cast-iron cobbler served with vanilla bean ice cream that honestly beat Blue Bell. Chef also shared a bit about the deep roots of Texas BBQ and his connection to it with in his family, which made the whole evening feel even more special. I was staying at the Omni Hotel and went down to order a "To Go" order and eat in my room. I ordered the BBQ Short Rib Tacos, Pasture Raised Pork Chop, and for Desert, The Warm Pecan Pie. Now when I received my order, I did go straight to my room to eat. I started with the Pork Chop which I was disappointed in, it wasn't warm, it was already setting up (not juicy) so the bites were firm. It is a small pork chop so I finished it but I wasn't happy about it. Next, I had the BBQ Short Rib taco which sounded good. The word Johnnycakes was in the description but I have no clue what a Johnnycake is. I opened the container and the short rib was clearly very dry looking, I would say it looked like fried short ribs, which is not what I hoped for. And the Johnnycake taco "shell" was too damp to hold anything, a huge mistake to pair the 2. A street soft shell taco will have 2 shells for this reason, a "johnnycake" cannot hold anything (now that I know). And finally the WARM Pecan Pie w/Ice Cream.... The Pecan Pie was like, right out of the box. If I had to drive 1 hr. to get home, I would understand...but it was about 5 minutes to get upstairs. read more

Open but not ready to be open. Can we all just be easy that this is a 1st worlder review a first world establishment. In the grand scheme, I am privileged in ways even some 1st worlders are not. Grains of salt. Given we are just emerging from a devastating pandemic, I have developed service tolerance. Service staff is stretched to it's absolute limit, yet businesses are opening at full capacity. If the customers show up, that justifies the demand for a fully staffed experience. Pay them, or soon you will see business fall off due to management and owners flaunting their perception that we will come, just because they built it. Um, others are building as well. We will go to them. Texas Spice is not Waffle House, not when they charge $19 plus tip for the buffet WH, you get the same basic food items as this place, in a vast quantity enough to match a buffet meal, yet one can expect WH to be fully staffed, and for about $14 plus tip, with coffee, and you get doted on. Aesthetics is no advantage if the service experience is not on par with your price point. Yes, it is 1st world, but it is not for free, we pay to cover that it is. Buffet is back open, some of the menu items have changed. The potatoes I made the 45 minute drive, now just huge chunks of roasters one would expect on a dinner menu, not breakfast. Gone are the delicious, delicate slices paired with onions. Why on earth would you do this? To be able to serve that not sold for breakfast, with lunch or dinner? It doesn't work, so breakfast is now less appealing. Cut corners, but not so obvious that it effects the experience so basic. Sausage patties are mass canned, and not the hand formed patties they had before. I served in the Army for a decade, these were like the mess hall sausage patties that come in a can precooked in mystery juice, then heated and served. Awful. They offer omelets, but the eggs on the line appeared to be of the reconstituted powdered variety, not fresh eggs. Who is managing this place making such decisions to offer quality that is far less than a dive experience, but at niche pricing? You think we get lost in ambiance? Those unused to good food quality for whom this is that special experience, but not those of us that do this regularly, that have developed expectations. Service. 1 server cannot meet the needs of as many tables as you are expecting. Yes, you may be short staffed, then make sure it isn't were it counts. Maybe limit capacity, or pay a wage that workers will show up to work for. Losing customers will not build your brand. Pay more, more customers spread the word you are top notch, and you can fill seats, raise prices, everyone wins. Anyone coming to the Omni Hotel for breakfast, can afford $24.99, if they can afford $19.99, and will pay it gladly. Your clientele exists. Now the service has to match the clients expectations. Starbucks is charging a mint for coffee, because there is a huge client base willing to pay it. So sell it, but service matters. The server that waited on me was doing an awesome job. Imagine if there were two, then the juggling act would not seem so. Waffle House staffs in such a manner that you have very little wait time, and your glass stays full. You need anything, they are on it before you can ask. They are present in your experience. WAFFLEHOUSE! How are you lagging behind them in hiring staff? Wafflehouse, get it, do you know your tier versus theirs? Do you understand what that says? You are placing a side of the road WH a cut above your offering. I have bacon, sausage, links, a Cuisinart Chef quality Waffle iron, I can make everything you offer, and quite well I might add, I burn. For me to choose to leave what I could have made much cheaper, and great, you have to know I am only coming out, for service, and what you say you do better. I have placed TS at the top of my nationwide, favorite breakfast spots for quite some time now. Lots of great spots in LA, Carlsbad, LaJolla, San Deigo, and in the DFW, but loyalty to TS as my fav, has always withstood the rest. If this change in food quality, and service, is a glitch due to pandemic recovery, I am prepared to see what the future holds, and to a return to normalcy. But if this is your new normal. Time to avail myself to other offerings. WH has real sausage patties, that taste like pork, eggs you see them crack, not wisk with water, and people in numbers to match the flow of customers. Heck, if you go to the right location of WH, you can even witness, or join in a brawl or two. Now you're talking. Who doesn't like a bit of exercise after, or during a meal? Okay, so that is usually in an unsavory area, and during after hours when the drunks roll in. I am never out in those wee hours. Step up your game Texas Spice. You need to justify valet parking, and the concepts appeal, or go away like so many other businesses. Be safe Yelpers. We were staying at the Omni hotel for a conference and with several people who were trying to eat healthy, including a vegetarian and a vegan. We were in love with the vegan option that was offered for breakfast, the quinoa sweet potato plate, with plant based soyrizo patty to sub the poached egg. The second day we were there, we were told no substitutions but this was quickly rectified by the manager who was super accommodating and helpful. My favorites were the made to order 3 egg omelette, the oatmeal pancake with chocolate chips, all the fresh delicious fruit cups (that included berries, fresh pineapple, cantaloupe, And honeydew!), and the chicken sausage.
