I had a Moscow Mule and hubs had IPA beer. Good selection of craft beers to choose from. Now to tell you about the amazing burger I enjoyed. I was visiting Spokane and a friend suggested this restaurant. The food was excellent but the service was horrible. A member of the staff promptly seated us and went to get our drinks. The server came to our table at the same time the girl returned with our drinks. The server seemed perturbed she had done that and began questioning her. She was apologetic and left our table. We were not ready to order and asked for a few more minutes. There was only one other table occupied and the place was slow, yet the server didn't return to take our order for at least 15 minutes. He kept walking past and ignoring us. When our food arrived it was delivered by yet another server. We wanted refills on our coffee but couldn't get anyone's attention. Finally when we asked our server he never returned with it. We finally asked a different server and she brought it. We finished eating and sat there another 10 minutes and our server never returned to remove our plates or bring our bill. Finally I went to the register and asked for it. I can only imagine what the service is like during peak hours. .. we were there after lunch was well over and there were only two occupied tables including ours. What a terrible experience. I went with my 8 year old son . My son got his beverage right away but mine never came . Our food came rather quick! My order was completely wrong so they took it back . They were gone 10 minutes but it was wrong again when they came back ! I waited another 10 minutes . My son was done by then but had got a refill of his drink . I still didn't have mine . Overall very good food. Loved the deep fried pickles and house beer. I thought the extra cold beer thing was a gimmick at first but I really appreciated it - my drink stayed cold for my entire meal! The jalapeño burger was good but not particularly spicy and a little bland. Service was super nice but we felt kind of rushed at the end. First of all, get the Huckleberry Lemonade. As a lover of any kind of lemonade, this was up there with the best! Moving on, my girlfriend and I are absolutely the most indecisive people when it comes to finding a place to eat out. If we haven't chosen a place before we leave the house, chances are that we'll just end up sitting in the car going through yet another tortorus cycle of "I don't know, what do you want to eat?" until we get bored and finally just end up getting taco bell for the 4th time in a week. But not this time! After spending some time walking around the mall, there came the dreadful question, "where should we eat?". A quick search on Google and Yelp returned few options, one of which being Hops & Drops. Having never been, first we had to find it. For those of you who don't know like we didn't, it's on the back of the mall. Keep driving around the mall until you see Nordstrom Rack. It's just across the street from that! The menu is extensive so we were lucky they had the Fiesta Platter for their May special. The street tacos and nachos were fantastic and I'd definitely get either again. My favorite hangout in Spokane. Can't emphasis enough how good it is!! The Valley Mall Hops & Drops is my home base, but Northside Hops is fun too. The Valley Hops has a great staff, from bartenders to servers to cooks, all are exceptional. Happy Hour(s) is 2pm to 6pm EVERY DAY; and the HH food is awesome. Great selection of ice-cold beers on tap, and they still free-pour all mixed drinks, making the best cocktails in town, by far. (Most bars have gone to measured pours and/or gun drinks, so this is an important point). A Quick Tip: If you go to the Valley Hops, and you like whiskey drinks, ask the bartenders for "Tony's Tea"... A great concoction I came up with (I get every time), I call it a "poor man's Long Island". An awesome inexpensive drink that you'll love! Try it at Happy Hour . The food... All items are tasty, and good portions. Their French Onion soup is fantastic; street tacos, wings, delicious burgers; as well as great pastas and other traditional fare. They also feature always changing monthly food specials (such as Irish food in March). Servers: Casey, Kayla, Kim, Mitchell, DeVonte... Best in town! They tend bar AND serve; always a pleasure to chat with. Everyone seems to love working there. And it's apparent in their attitudes, always nice, friendly, and fast. Bottom line, Hops & Drops is by far, my fav place in Spokane. We go there a lot because we enjoy everything about it, and I think you will too. BTW, we have been to two Seattle/Everett area Hops & Drops, and they also are exceptional places as well. It appears they have a great culture, and treat their employees with respect. My fiancé and I went here for dinner last night because we had a gift card. Wasn't the biggest fan, just another casual burger place. I understand that food is getting expensive especially because of COVID, but I think $7.50 for a small bowl of French onion soup is a bit steep. The cheese was layered about a 1/2 inch and was too thick for my taste and a bit difficult to cut through with a spoon. I wanted to visit this place a second time before reviewing, so here goes. My first visit I had draft beer and Fiesta Mac and Cheese. I think the beer was Mac and Jack's, but it has been a while, which is of course the danger of waiting to write my review. :) The Fiesta Mac and Cheese was really tasty and had some kick to it, so if spicy is not your thing, think twice before ordering it. This last Thursday (12/3/2015) was the second visit for my wife and me. I was in the mood for mixed drinks, for some reason, and started with the pineapple mojito. It was, in a word, delicious! I also enjoy the gimmick of serving the drinks in a "glass" made of ice. It is different and it keeps the drink cold. Since I like to try different menu items, I resisted the temptation to follow up with another pineapple mojito, opting instead for a White Gummy Bear Martini. It was a little sweet for my taste, but I can't deny that it was still pretty good. Nancy and I ordered nachos from the Appetizer menu and they were decent. They could have been more generous, but the taste was fine. I have enjoyed both of my experiences at Hop Jacks and will return. This time, our server was Alissa, and she did a great job. I've been here about 5 times and each time the staff has been upbeat, attentive, and professional. I have had zero issues with my food and drink so far and it has always been good. The last two times this place has been slammed but the crew here handle it well. I usually sit at the bar and I watch the kitchen and wait staff hustling through the chaos non stop. Its pretty fun to watch actually. There are plenty of TVs which usually have ESPN playing. The bathrooms are usually clean and well stocked. Excellent food! We ordered via delivery with DoorDash, and the food in big clear plastic containers, wrapped, and placed in a nice big bag. Everything stayed Hot, and the salads stayed cold. We ordered a guacamole hamburger and a turkey sandwich that were excellent. I also recommend the garlic fries. The food was read and delivered to our front door in less than an hour. So not good! We went there with a group prior to seeing a movie. I had fish tacos and my husband had fish and chips. The fish was overly breaded and one of my husband's pieces was burnt! The tacos were edible, but very bland and unremarkable. The breading overpowers the fish. The tacos were served with lots of plain tortilla chips - what am I supposed to do with those? The huckleberry lemonade was very sweet, with a bit of red syrup and some desiccated berries. The fries were OK; no complaints about those. I really enjoyed lunch here. I had the teriyaki burger and sat in the bar. The atmosphere is nice, tv's for sports and music playing but not to loud so you can maintain a conversation. Not at all impressed with my first and only visit here. The home made chips with huge bubbles of cooking oil inside were the lowlight of the night. Nothing can adequately describe how disgusting a mouthful of cooking oil is. It was gross, to say the least. Unfortunately there's not much else about our dinners tonight that can help make up for those chips. My bacon burger was soaked too... you guessed it... oil from the chips. My wife had BBQ Mac. She described it as "ok" but far too salty. With dinner a bust we tried to order dessert. The waitress recommended the donuts. Big mistake! Have you ever had an oily donut? Don't! Apparently this place likes to serve everything swimming in oil. Update--. I responded to the manager who commented below. He sent me a private message. After eating at the North Side Hop Jacks I had high expectations for the valley location. They did have good happy hour specials and an attentive wait staff. It was surprising, however, after getting an excessively sales like pitch for their burgers that they didn't have sliders on the menu. The flat bread is delicious, the fries so-so and the burgers are typical. Good but not great. The thing that will keep me from going back is the bathroom, with it's shared unisex sink in the middle. Everything started ok and went down hill. Our first server was really nice, then she traded us to another server, and he was really nice, then he gave us back to our original server, she was still nice, then she traded us again to a new server, who started off nice and then turned not-so-nice. If our food was right and things went off without a hitch, I really wouldn't care who took our order or brought our tarter sauce, but lots got messed up in the hand off and we were treated poorly. First, our bone-in wings came out boneless, which we let go. Then, our hamburger had cheese on it, which we told our server and she corrected, but our kid had to wait for a new burger. Also, our quest came with about twelve tortilla chips, which was hardly enough. Lastly, when we first got there, we told our original server we had a birthday at the table. She said, "I have good news, we don't embarrass you and sing, and we give you a free desert." Sounds great, right? WRONG. When we were done eating, our server (the third one) asked if anyone wanted desert. I said we would just do the birthday desert. She said, "we don't do birthdays here." I said, that's not what our first server said, and our third server said, "no she didn't say that, that's not right." I said "yes, she did, she said we got a birthday desert," and server number three said "you don't get a desert, we don't do birthdays." We went back and forth another time or two. It was awkward and weird, and instead of checking with our first server (the one who said we got a birthday desert), she just told me we were wrong and that was it. She should have asked server number one if she told us we got a dessert. We used to love this place but we will not be back. We can over look the mess ups on the food just fine, but to basically be told we are liars is too much. We spent ninety bucks on some messed up dishes and a side of humiliation. Came here based on Yelp reviews. The first server was nice and informed did a good job explaining the menu. That was the highlight of the meal. I ordered the fish and chips which was a mistake. The plate came with a huge bowl in the middle. I could not even see any fish. Horrible presentation. I moved the bowl aside to find a few pieces of soggy fish. I will say this, kids Mac n cheese is not to a child's approval. I agree it was a little richer of a taste so we asked if we could simply switch to chicken instead and keep our fries.
