Tried a variety of breakfast plates, and the best was the omelette. The hash-browns and potato hash both tasted like they came from the frozen food section at the local grocery store. Had two sunny side up eggs one morning, and the edges of the whites were scorched. I can cook eggs much better at home than this restaurant. Coffee: Good coffee Service: Great service, friendly staff, including Donna Overall cleanliness: average but some of the furniture is worn out. One booth we sat in had totally flat cushions and tape on the back panel. Some maintenance is really needed. This is located within the Grand Davenport hotel. The restaurant furniture is worn out. The booths are lumpy and saggy. Staff: The employees here are nice. We had Donna for breakfast as our server every morning. She is very sweet and attentive. She kept our coffee and water filled. Maverick served us the last day and he is super attentive and nice too. The staff make this place. Food: The food is over priced since it is located in the hotel. You are paying for convenience. The food is just okay. I ordered The salmon benedict for breakfast the first day. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The hollandaise sauce was good, but there wasn't enough of it. The smoked salmon was just dumped on the English muffin and the egg was placed on top oft he smoke salmon which cooked it and made it super fishy and way too salty. The hashbrown was undercooked. It was just okay. The second day I ordered the salmon and bagel. It came with salmon which was way better than the benedict because it was on the side. It was served with capers, raw onions that just seemed out of of place on the plate with a hard boiled egg. I made a bagel cream cheese hardboiled egg sandwich. It was okay. The menu is slightly lacking. One side of the menu is very heavy and the other side is carb heavy. They need a more balanced menu. Coffee was excellent! read more

Last night my wife and I had the pleasure of sitting at Zackery's (bartender) bar for cocktails, wine, cheese dip starter and grand burgers. Service was stellar food excellent and conversation enjoyable! Ambience is hotel lobby and not otherwise noteworthy. The back bar is well stocked. What makes a great bar is a great bartender and most bartenders these days don't understand the importance of good conversation. Well done Zackery! read more

I'm baffled by all the negative reviews. First time staying at the Davenport Grand. After a long day of traveling and working, I went down to the bar. The bartender was super nice and attentive. I ordered a glass of red wine and started with a Caesar salad, in my opinion, a really great Caesar salad. I ordered my meal to take back up to my room. I ordered the roasted chicken entree, it was absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed the service, the setting was nice, and the food was really good. So overall great service, great food, great ambience- five stars! read more

Great Service and Okay Food @ The Grand Restaurant & Lounge located in the Davenport Grand Hotel in Spokane, WA. Convenience of food in the hotel on a cold, rainy day was the main motivation to dine-in at this restaurant. Service by Brittany during the weekend dinner hours and by Marcus during breakfast were both exceptional!! Food was less to be desired during afternoon hours. Avoid the flatbread. Breakfast was decent. We'll check out Table 13 sometime and hopefully it's better. The Grand Restaurant itself was inviting with more upscale features. I did have to request clean utensils though, as old food was dishwasher dried on the ones initially given to me. I appreciated the cloth napkins. We had a reservation around 7 PM on Valentines day and were very optimistic about the dinner. The hostess and our waitress were very professional however nearly everything else was not. First, a food runner came out with a cheese dip, and sprinted off without giving us a single second to tell them this food was not ours. After around five minutes of this food just sitting on our table we waved our waitress down and she took it away. I very much hoped they did not reuse the food that sat at our table, but I would not put it passed them. Our appetizers came out and the polarity of the two appetizers was staggering. Out came a amazing set of chicken wings, they were tender and the skin was cooked perfectly. Sadly the prawns we had they tasted very old, and were very off putting as the prawns were near ice cold so you could taste the age of them. Then came the main corse and wow it was not good. My partners meal actually looked like cafeteria food she got the eggplant parm sandwich and she barely could eat any of it and said it was mediocre at best. If that is the best effort a place like the "Grand" Davenport could offer for a eggplant parm then I think they should completely change their menu from the start it was embarrassing. For my pasta I ordered the pasta with light sauce and added chicken. This time when they messed up the pasta by forgetting the chicken I asked this food runner where the chicken was and she told me to give her a moment. Within two minutes she came back with a precooked chicken they must have prepped hours before and was not even heated it was stone cold on top of what was now a luke warm pasta. They couldn't have heated the chicken up a little or tossed it in the pasta? Then I asked to get red pepper flakes and had to wait until my pasta was half way done to get them to my table. The only people who seemed to care was the hostess and the waitress, the kitchen staff/expo did not, alot more care needs to be taken with the quality of food being taken out to tables as this is considered a nice place in Spokane not burger king. Stayed at the hotel for 7 nights and ate her for breakfast five times. As "lifetime Titanium Elite" with Marriott I get vouchers for a free continental breakfast or $14 off the menu. I did the menu each time. Loved everything I tried EXCEPT the waffles (they and a thick dough and the waffle iron was not pre-heated properly so they were not crisp). Restaurant is pretty empty in the morning so I always got seated immediately and lots of attention from my servers. Took the vouchers and charged us the full $23 dollars for the breakfast buffet that was mid at best. Way too many people for the buffet and they didn't restock items in a timely manner. The Grand Restaurant and Lounge was the place for breakfast in this hotel for Marriott Platinum Elite and above guests. Anabel was my server both times I went down there to grab breakfast. The first time I was there, I did takeout as I had an appointment that morning, the second time I went, I dined in with Anabel as my waitress. She was nice and friendly and made some good suggestions. Smoked salmon and bagel, porketta, biscuit and gravy were the items we ordered. We ordered the smoked salmon and biscuit and gravy for takeout. My wife especially liked the smoked salmon the first time I ordered it for myself and requested another order of it for herself the next day as she liked the taste of the salmon and the way they toasted the bagel. The porketta was good. It was not what I was expecting. Anabel was great at making sure my coffee cup was filled and that enjoyed my breakfast. I arrived late on a Saturday night to the Davenport Grand Hotel and I was starving. So my quickest and best option for food was at the restaurant in the hotel lobby, The Grand Restaurant & Lounge. The restaurant was right across the check-in desks and the mini Starbucks. It was kind of smallish but the food and service was good. I ordered the prime rib sliders and they were really good. I was starved so it hit the spot! The following day we came back for drinks and they were great! I had one of their signature cocktails, the Terrace Sunset with Lunazul tequila, blood orange, cucumber and habanero. My girlfriend had the Grapefruit Drop martini. Both drinks were really delicious, wish I could go for another Terrace Sunset right about now. I was staying at the Grande for several days; however, I had no intention of eating there. That changed when I had time to kill prior to my first meeting. Pleasant staff, quick seating and fresh coffee in my cup right after I sat down. The atmosphere is fine, you are in a lobby of a hotel. It is modern and designed nicely; however, you are still in a hotel lobby. The menu is really short, especially for breakfast. I ordered French Toast, the menu stated that the Davenport makes the bread. The breakfast was really nice, the bread was excellent (almost too thick). I had a wonderful texture and excellent flavor. The waitress finally checked on us as our meal was ending, and offered to bring water, but never did. I had to get our drinks for the 4th time. To put it simply, I didn't leave a tip which is not like me -having been a waitress in the past, I typically over tip, but this was the worst service ever. I don't expect much from hotel restaurants and this one still disappointed on both service and food. Was here for a four day conference, ate at restaurant and bar many times. The food was very hit or miss. The small Cesar salad was the most unappetizing Cesar I've ever been served. Just a pile of over chopped lettuce that almost looked like iceberg rather than romaine. It was served on a flat plate rather than a cupped plate, making it more difficult to eat. The chicken sandwich has a more doughy breading than I would recommend. The Pub Steak should be avoided at all costs. It's basically a steak scraps cooked all the way through. The one thing I had that stood out as good was the biscuits and gravy. Beyond that, service at the bar was often inattentive. Even with only 7 or 8 patrons, the three staff members would be in a corner talking to each other, forcing you to yell to get their attention. The draft beer was only $3.50 (vs $7). However, I was hungry too. Unfortunately, they DO NOT have any happy hour prices for food. Not the best food. I ordered the hamburger and my wife ordered the prime rib dip. Hamburger: The patty was almost burnt on the outside and dry on the inside. The patty had to have been a frozen patty mass produced from China because it was of the poorest tasting quality every. Think middle school lunch cafeteria quality hamburgers or even a standard issue government patty (like military or prison). I served in the military and as a correctional officer in a prison, and the patty here reminded me of burgers that I've eaten both in the military and in a prison. Yes, it was that bad. I couldn't even finish it. Prime Rib Dip: The meat was far better and fresher tasting than the burger. There was NOTHING on the bun besides meat. No cheese, onions, or anything. The dipping sauce was okay. The meat was so bland that we had to dip it in ketchup. Yes, you read that right, ketchup! That was the only way to get some flavor in the meat. The fries were average. The service was okay. The look and feel of the place is AWESOME. It is very modern, clean, and the noise level was perfect. Unless there is a huge improvement on food quality, I will never come back. As a guest of the hotel, I would have liked to have eaten most of meals here, however I had to leave the property to find better food (which is quite hard in Spokane). read more

The Davenport Grand hotel doesn't provide a complimentary breakfast, or even coffee, for its guests. Instead, you have a choice of going to their bar/restaurant or Starbucks counter on the ground floor if you want to get something to eat or drink on site. I made the mistake of waiting in line at the Starbucks one morning, only to spend too much $ and waste a bunch more time waiting for a bagel. The menu says bagel w/ cream cheese $3, fresh fruit $1-- and I saw some clear plastic cups with chunks of fruit and berries and thought that's what the 'fresh fruit' must be. The bill came to nearly $10 for the two items (apparently the 'fresh fruit' for $1 actually referred to the over-ripe bananas sitting next to the register). So, they must have charged me $5.50 or so for that little fruit cup. Then, the bagel I had ordered sat cooling in the toaster for several minutes until I reminded somebody at the counter that I was waiting for it. She said 'sorry', and gave me a couple of cream cheese cups that had been chilled rock-hard to spread on my barely warm bagel. Nope, not doing this again. read more

Full disclosure: I'm staying at the Grand on my company's dime. This enabled me to make some choices I might not have made otherwise, including picking a few meals from the top of the menu where prices spike up a bit. The two items most intriguing to me were the prime rib and the ribeye. And the cocktails, but that's a whole other thing. (The Mark Twain was surprisingly good.) Prime rib: I feel like a prime rib is like the equivalent of a safety school for college seekers. You know you're going to like it, because no self-respecting establishment is going to screw it up, but you suspect something else will be better (I'm foreshadowing! My high school English teachers would be proud). And the Grand came through. Cooked medium rare to perfection. The meat itself wasn't super flavorful, but that's why prime rib comes with a jus and horseradish sauce. The dips were terrific and the meat texture very good. Sides were "meh", but if you order prime rib for the fingerling potatoes...well, I don't know what to tell you. Overall, a solid option. Ribeye: shut up. My ribeye, and I'm no stranger to the cut, was (expletive deleted) exquisite. Obviously medium rare, and so freakin' tender and flavorful I didn't know what to do with myself. The demiglaze accented, but stayed the hell out of the way. Just... I want to praise it more, but it will look like I was payed by this place to write the review. Just order the damn thing. For what it's worth, they used to ship the meat in from somewhere else, but are now sourcing local Angus. And it shows. AND the Brussels sprouts and Yukon mashed potatoes we also great in their own right. Not that you care, though, because...well, steak. In the end, nothing is cheap here. The breakfast is quite expensive for what you get (17 bucks for the breakfast buffet, which isn't much more than you'd get for free at a holiday inn express), and the dinner is expensive too. But! Holy crap, the ribeye. I almost want to order a second dinner just thinking about it. A would-be 4 stars gets bumped up to the top tier because of that dish alone. (Service was prompt and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast at The Grand. I had the frittata, which was so delicious. It has BBQ sauce on it, which sounded weird to me (this is why I ordered it), but I was surprised by how good it was. It comes with a huge, thick slice of toast that is actually properly grilled, and what seems like house made strawberry jam. The bellini was also very tasty. I had to cut myself off at one. Service was good...I was reading, and the server mostly left me alone so I could read in peace, but she was very friendly when she did check on me. I didn't feel rushed or neglected even though they were a bit busy. Prices are a bit steep, but not as bad as other hotel restaurants with worse food. read more

Some people have issues with hotel bars, however this one offered good food, great drinks, and a relaxing environment. If you are traveling with kids there are tables just beyond the bar wall where you can sit with the family, have a drink, grab some food, and catch a game playing on the TV. I will start by saying that the food here was very good. However, the flavor of the food was overshadowed by service that could only be described as "way less than average." My wife and I had dinner here before heading to a show at the ING Performing Arts Center, which is right across the street. In order to avoid having to rush during our meal, we got there two hours before the show started. We sat down and waited for our server to acknowledge us, which took a very long time. When she (Rena) finally approached us, she seemed to be very unhappy; no smiles whatsoever. My wife asked for the Onion Soup, to which Rena replied, "We don't have onion soup." We showed it to her on the menu, and she replied, "Oh, you mean the Washington Sweet Onion Soup, yeah, we have that." After being corrected, my wife also ordered the Szechuan Prime Tenderloin of Beef Tips. I then ordered the Forest Mushroom Cream Sherry Soup and the Cougar Gold Gratiné. It's a good thing we allowed plenty of time, as it took an hour and a half from the time we arrived until the first serving was placed in front of us. What? Although my wife's soup was called something different, it was definitely the French Onion Soup that we all know, and many of us love, and it was very tasty. My soup was delicious as well, but it took some time to discover that, as I asked the food expediter who laid our food on the table, for a soup spoon. She said, "of course," and rushed off, never to be seen again. After about ten minutes of waiting on my soup spoon, I finally had to track down our server to request one, which she eventually got for me. My soup was delicious, but it had assumed room temperature by the time I got a utensil with which to eat it. The beef tips were delicious, and the Cougar Gold cheese dip was decadent, to say the least. All was well until we ran out of the small bread slices served with the dip. The number of bread pieces initially brought to us was inadequate for the amount of cheese that was served. I requested more bread from the server, once I could flag her down. We waited and waited, and finished all the other food, when a suit-wearing man (Chris), who I can only assume was the manager, came wandering by and asked if everything was okay. I told him that we had been waiting a very long time for the extra bread, and rather than going to get us some, he just waved the server over and told her to check on it. There was absolutely no follow up by Chris, who, like the expediter, was never seen again. Just when we got up to leave, having decided that the bread was not going to come, it arrived. By then, we didn't have time to enjoy it, as we had to get to our show. The server must have thought she was very generous when she told us we would not be charged for the extra pieces of bread, as normally it would be $4.50. Are you kidding me? What a treat ... we didn't have to pay for bread we didn't have time to eat! The food left a good impression on us, but the service was something we would expect from a crowded soup kitchen, not a four-star hotel. We were very disappointed in the way we were treated, and hopefully, they were just having an off night. But, having looked at some of the other reviews ... I don't think so! Randy C Watts read more

The Beef tip appetizer was excellent and cooked to perfection. Wife's fish and chips which are breaded in house seemed rubbery and lacking flavor. My rib eye steak was overcooked and dry. Didn't seem like much if any seasonings where put it. Not worth the $45 by far. Over all I would come back for the service but would eat else where as they are very exspensive for less then subpar food. Was exspecting much better quality coming from this ritzy hotel. read more
