After the first week they called and said there was nothing wrong with the car -I had it towed in due to electrical malfunctions-and when I started it there was a check engine light still on. Went in to get my oil changed and state inspection at Horizon Auto Center and it was a great experience. Not only did they do the services I had requested - they also warned me about my tires and gave me some useful information as to what brands they recommend, how much tire replacement would be, etc. The staff at Horizon Auto Center is very friendly and knowledgeable. They don't just want to get you in and out as quick as they can. You can tell how they care about their customers and would do anything to make sure all vehicles are in tip-top shape. There's a nice TV and complimentary bottled water in the lobby so you aren't bored out of your mind while waiting for services to get done... they even offer to take customers home if services will take a while! All in all - I highly recommend Horizon Auto Center. They really took care of me, and I will be going back in to get my tires changed very soon! read more

It has been a challenge to find a reliable auto center in this area. I have been to several in the area, over the last 8 years, and have been highly pleased with this team of professionals at Horizon. They value their customers and strive to accommodate/help them in the best way possible. I had an issue with a blown tire locally. They sent a tech to help me get my spare on and got my other tire ordered in a timely fashion. I have been using their services for some time now. My husband too has had issues with places in the past saying they rotated tires and then didn't. He has his own marking system to make sure it's being done these days and he said he's glad he finally found a place where they were doing what they say they'll do and his tires haven't worn out as fast either. Scenario: Drive Train Light comes on in BMW. Horizon checks car and recommends 30 point checklist with any repairs. Horizon finds no repairs warranting Drive Train Light but doesn't divulge. Instead Horizon communicates a litany of things per the 30 point check and quotes $3k+ charges to repair. Car is "repaired" and I arrive to pickup. Horizon communicates that "along with repairs" an alignment was done, they threw in a couple tires, and applied a discount, bringing the cost to just a couple hundred bucks more, $3500+. So I ask at the point of payment, "so for the Drive Train repairs we are now all set for how long?" Horizon says " we found nothing to repair with that, that was just the timing that threw that light on as a signal." I was literally paralyzed by that response. Bottomline: We just paid for $3500+ of repairs that had NOTHING TO DO WITH WHY WE BROUGHT THE CAR IN. And had I known that, we'd have taken the car to Firestone to pay less than half for these "repairs." Disgusted hardly describes my continued disposition. Be sure to be VERY EXPLICIT when asking these folks questions, or be robbed as we just were. read more

We have a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe SE Ultimate that has 69,199 miles ... MFI (check engine) light came on ... O2 sensor failed. Engine has four ... took it to Clay Cooley Hyundai and they charged $102 to diagnose the issue and then quoted $1500 to fix (recommended to fix all four sensors). I called Freeman Hyundai and they had a lower quote but it's in Arlington. Called Horizon Auto Center -- $975.55 out the door and made the repairs in five hours (including running another diagnostic test, it was two sensors and a test drive to QC). They earned our business, has taken other cars there a few years ago and their service was excellent, but used Cooley because our new Santa Fe was under warrantee ... than ended at 60,000 miles so bye, bye Clay Cooley, hello Horizon. They will always be our first stop to any required service from now on. One repair alone saved us ~$500 and Horizon uses same parts supplier as the dealer. read more

I purchased a bed cover for my Ram truck around a year ago. Being a contractor I'm not the most gentle on my stuff. So I went to Horizon to ask if we could make some adjustments, order some new seals and replace a small piece that had broke. They called me the next day to let me know my new bed cover was being replaced and would be in in a few days, that it shouldn't have broken. I have 3 kids under the age of 5 and they are super friendly towards. I bring lunch and picnic on the floor. They have a little dirt area down by the pet groomers that I let the kids play in. They even have a few chairs down there. (Just look out for pet waste.) They have a tv for cartoon watching. They have always been truthful, never charging for "simple" repairs like tightening a cap etc. when that was the only thing wrong with the car. read more

Rec'd a coupon in mail for discounted oil change. Had a nice pic of the owners on it & some verbiage about how important their customers are. I walked in last Saturday & was treated as if I was basically invisible. No greeting, no conversation. Just a blank stare & a grunt which evidently meant " hand over the keys". Repairs were made without consulting me & I was simply handed a bill. When I tried to ask questions--politely--I was simply stared at. Zero customer service. I used to have a lot of confidence in Horizon Auto Care. We've taken our cars to them for a few years. A few months ago we were told that our car needed a major repair (2011 model yr) and the technician suggested also doing a preemptive replacement for another part. He stated that it was probably not covered under warranty. I decided to call the dealership and found out it WAS covered under warranty. We took it to the dealership, only to find out the repair was not needed at all. Saved us $650.00, which is what Horizon wanted to charge us. Now I have to wonder how many other repairs we were overcharged for or didn't need at all. What made me feel so comfortable with Horizon was that they appeared to be Christian run establishment, which is one of the reasons we continued to take our cars to them. read more

This used to be my stop for Auto care and oil changes, along with inspections ect! And for years, 5 to be exact, they were awesome to deal with. Then something changed, every-time I went in all the sudden i was being up-sold on repairs, it was like they switched all the employees to a commission based salary or something. I could not get an oil change with out hearing everything that was wrong with my car. From shocks to air cleaners to alignment and struts, every car I brought to them was falling apart! They even wanted to sell me an air cleaner for a truck I had a K&N system on. I said to the repair tec, you know I have a lifetime filter on their don't you? He was like OH, sorry! I had my Mini Cooper in for a "Check engine" light a while back. I was told I needed to replace the air intake and boots in my supercharger. #ChaChing When I arrived to pick the car up I noticed the front bumper (had to be removed for repair) wasn't aligned properly. After further inspection I also saw the left driving light was damaged and the plug was sticking out the front. I addressed it with management and they had the items replaced and repaired. (1more day in the shop) I picked the car up and the "check engine" came back on 3 days later. I called to let them know but decided to take the car to the dealership instead. They found parts missing, after market parts and the air intake system was still leaking. The dealership made the repairs AGAIN And everything was fine. For being experts with European vehicles I was less than impressed. The only reason for the second star is due to the management being pleasant and professional to deal with. That being said, paying twice to have the same repair done right left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Ken, Let me address your response to my review. The Steering column. Yes, you are correct the steering column had already been replaced 5 years earlier with a "used" steering column. Sorry you can't buy a new steering column for a 2000 firebird. However, as far as yourt shop suggesting we put in a "reconditioned steering column" that never happened. Trust me, our daughter drives this car to and from college, we want her to be safe, if it had been suggested from day one that we replace the steering column it would have been done. It is very concerning to hear however that you have not problem using "junk yard parts" or charging $300 for said "junk yard parts". Tail light issue. FACT - when we brought in the car we were not having electrical problems with the tail lighs. However, what in fact was happinging after you worked on the car when you stepped on the brake the blinker would come on. That is a wiring error, that occured when your technician was putting the car back together. It never once did that before Me "raising cane" in your lobby. Yes I did. I had been told that the car would be finished that day. You had already at this point had the car for 3 days. My daughter had to come into town from college to pick up her car. IT was suppose to be finished at 4:00 pm. When we got there at 4:15pm it wasn't finished. However, I went ahead and paid. And she waited. Let's be clear about one thing, when I came back to pick her up and "raised cane" you implied that you where actively working on her car at that point, when I came into your lobby. That is the furthest from the truth. It was after 6 pm when I had to leave and pick her up. You were closed for the day and locked up tight as a drum. You Ken didn't have a clue what was even going on. So yes, I was angry and you heard about it you,should have. Please don't assume because my husband was calm and friendly that he was "on-board" with what was going on or that I was "out of the loop". I don't know may people who can go without a car for a month. I can assure you hat he didn't say take your time, no he said get it fixed. As for him stopping in twice to see how things were going. He stopped in twice because no one was returning phone calls and he had to drive over there to find out what was happening. As for me being out of the loop, I can assure you that even though you weren't speaking to me, my husband was I knew as much as he did. I do appreciate the fact that you admitted that your shop couldn't handle the job. Bottom line, you had our car for a month, we tried to pick it up twice and both time it had to be left because of an electrical issue. Sorry but the blinker shouldn't come on when you step on the brake. Yes, after a month when finally picked up out car it was fixed. However, all the stuff that happened in the month while you had it speaks for itself. read more

Took my truck there for the inspection for the state of Texas. And gave me a clean bill of health even though my brake fluid was low. and told me I need to get a brake job soon without being pushy even topped off my brake fluid for no additional charge....just the $25 for the state inspection. I've known the manager, Cliff, for many years and first met him when I worked down the street from Horizon in Rockwall. Today I live in Dallas, but when I need service I still take my car all the way out to Horizon in Rockwall. It's worth it. However, last year I did take my car to a quick lube shop here in Dallas to have the oil changed. 6 months later, it was leaking oil. Finally I went back to Horizon to get new tire and wheel balancing. While the car was up on the lift, he noticed the leaking oil and quickly found that the quick lube place failed to tighten the oil filter properly with a wrench. He fixed that for free. That same morning I had an appointment with another place to fix my radar detector which had stopped working. After fixing the leaking oil filter, a few minutes later, the same mechanic spotted a loose wire dangling down. Plugged it back in. Radar detector fixed. Also free. That's two free bonuses from Horizon. They are very conscientious and are trustworthy. I will continue to take my car only to Horizon Auto. read more

I very rarely write reviews, but as a longtime Rockwall resident, I feel it would be a disservice to my community to not write this one to notify everyone of this incident. I have used Horizon on several occasions. My recent (and last) visit to Horizon was horrible. After finishing the work on my classic car, they returned it to me in filthy condition blaming nearby road construction. After complaining about how filthy my car was, they reluctantly washed it. I then came back to pick up my car a couple of hours later only to discover several new paint chips on my car. They denied any responsibility for the paint chips and asked me to prove that Horizon caused it only by providing before and after photographs of the car. They also quoted me $500 for a "very hard to find part" and asked me to help find the part for them. I found the new part for $85 in 10 minutes by simply calling the leading national parts distributor for that particular car. Then, only after the work was completed, they informed me that there is no warranty for their work because I provided the part to them. Ridiculous. Rather than trying to satisfy me (their customer), they were more focused on collecting payment for their work regardless of my high level of customer dissatisfaction due to the above issues. Please be careful who you choose to work on your car. There are many great options in Rockwall, Horizon is not one of them. I certainly won't be back. read more

Took my car to Horizon Auto and after looking at my car said it would $500+ labor to do what was necessary. They said it would take 5 hours to fix the issue before they even knew what the issue was. I asked, "what if it doesn't take 5 hours?" and they responded that no matter what, I would be charged 5 hours. No problem, I called another company down the street and the labor was only $108.00. So, there ya go. I have had quiet a few transactions with them and every time, walked away broke from labor charges. When you walk in, it's not an overly friendly environment, NOT AT ALL. I gave one star because of the two cute dogs that run around on their lot greeting customers. read more

Inflated prices here. Estimate $975 included replacing belts for $350. Took truck to shop in Rowlette run by Christian men & ASE certified. Total cost $341. Was told belts were fine and did not need to be replaced. Horizon auto charged me $115 for diagnostics. Autozone does that for Free. Horizon auto wanted $664 vs $341. They probably do decent work if you're ok with twice the amount you should pay. Will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN read more

Hello Ken, I am glad that you emailed me. Your email talkes about me as if I am a very happy customer. Strange, didn't you get any feedback on how this particular case worked out? Or, is this an "automatic" standerd mail you send to all your new clients? The first email that asked me to write a review I left alone because I needed some time to sort out my thoughts about your company. I think that you as the owner should now what happened and what made my "experience". The day my Jaguar arrived (8-17-2017) I met you and I also talked with Joseph. Both you guys said, and I quote: "we do a good job for a fair price". I left your workshop with a good feeling. Also because Joseph assured me that they would call me before any work was done. The $109,- charge for the diagnosis was very reasonable. Next day I got a lot of text messages and late in the afternoon I received a phone call from Heath about the diagnosis. Too late in the afternoon in my opinion. He said that they wanted the car running first, so they needed to order a battery and an alternator (generator In Jaguar terms) in order to do so. Costs: $250,- for the battery, $450,- for the alternator, labour was more then $300,-. (plus taxes) He said he was pretty sure that these things caused the problem. I told him that I thought these prices were overrated and what if I bought the parts and "Horizon" puts them in. Heath said that that could be done, but, without warranty. Also, I should call fast with the outcome of my decision because the Jaguar was taking up space in the parking lot "Horizon" could use for other customers. Not such a friendly approach. I checked my part companies (the ones I use because I am restoring my old Mercedes's myself, mechanical as well as body work) and found out that I could get an alternator for $158,- (minus $103,- for core return)and a new battery would cost me $150,-. Now, I called back within 15 minutes and told Heath about this and asked why his price for parts was so exorbitant. He had NO answer. Then I told him that I would do the job myself and that I thought we would not do business and asked him for the name of the towing company "Horizon" uses. He gave me the name and phone number and that same afternoon my Jaguar was brought to my house. All the time I had to deal with a very tense and "aggressive" person working on your behalf. Not the kind of person you consider part of the "happy Horizon family". Now the part that I think is most important. I think you should have recognized that you were dealing with a customer that knows about cars, and not some retard that believes everything people tell him. I told you that I preferred someone else to do the work since I don't like working on Jaguars that much, I am a Mercedes of the 80s man. The way Heath treated me is unacceptable for me. I hope he doesn't have that attitude towards other customers. If so, I don't understand your 5 years of best auto repair shop in Rockwall. I believe you are not doing an honest job by charging so much money for parts. In my book workshops try to get the parts as cheap as possible for their clients and make money through their labour rate. I get the parts for $200,-(including tax) and you dare to charge me $700,- plus tax? Quite a difference! Even the Honda dealer that service and maintain our Odyssey never ever charges us "unfair". Suppose I was someone without knowledge and experience and whose mobility depends on that car (luckily I have more cars) and had no choice but to go along with your advice. I think you can call it a rip off, that is nothing less then stealing. Everybody should earn a living but you can do that "fair" or "unfair" Since you told me you do "fair business" i think you didn't get the meaning of the word fair!
