I'm having a drink right now, the service is great but the wine is not. They don't even have red wine! They should have the basic on hand at least two bottles even if this area doesn't get a lot of foot traffic. Again the service is great the wine selection isn't. read more

This place was pretty much at my gate at JFK. Coffee was super expensive but it was decent. I guess most people drink alcohol here but I was coming off a weekend of drinking in south Florida + no sleep soo... Service fantastic. Dayna, the bartender, is an absolutely fantastic person. Horrible. I ordered a turkey bacon panini and asked the lady to make sure there was no pork in it. she charged me $26 for the panini and a coffee. I see her putting in a slice of turkey breast and what looked suspiciously like pork bacon. I then questioned her again. she said there was absolutely no pork in it. I open the panini only to see what is clearly several fatty pieces of pork bacon! what if I was allergic? Just a horrible experience. do not go here! read more

Absolutely brutal spot. Sat down at a table. We were the only people there. Had to scan to order. Got a beer and croissant.. waiting 5/8 minutes while watching the person behind the bar do nothing but stay on her phone. Walked up and asked where both the beer and croissant were and said we don't have croissants and the bartender isn't here yet so we can't serve you beer. I was Waiting for my flight at gate 1 and I wanted to see if there was a drink around. I stopped by this place and thought "I found a drink!". I sat down and was not greeted, I said "Good morning" and she said "hey". okay? horrible first impression. then I ask for a menu "we don't have a menu" so I asked "what do you have?" and she points at the bar. like are you guys serious? How am I suppose to know how much things cost? Or what mixed drinks you make? I'm traveling and she has that type of attitude? I didn't order anything because she wasn't welcoming, plain and simple. however I'm not surprised because customer service has nothing but dwindled since the pandemic. i went to another bar around the corner and they had a menu and the credit card machine is working. The woman working behind the counter was on her phone, couldn't be bothered to greet me when I walked up and then another customer told me they were "closed" and that he was the last customer they planned to serve. Checked the hours - they're open until 12am. It's not even 9pm. And in case you're wondering, the woman is still engrossed in whatever is on her phone. Even if you're part of the captive audience that would be forced to go here, don't bother. The worker is more than likely busy doing nothing. read more

Tucked all the way on the back of Terminal 5, by gate 1, sits Horizon bakery cafe. Out of beaten path, hidden around the corner - so there is rarely a line here, especially in early morning hours. Cannot go wrong with good Illy coffee and almond croissant before your flight! There are several tables to sit and sip your coffee, as well as bar seating. Shhhh. Don't tell anyone about this little secret gem. But come and enjoy your coffee. read more

Sometimes the airport offers you something nice. At Horizon, it's fruit and a solid selection of Rishi loose-leaf tea. I spent some time in the airport waiting and ended up getting a few cups of tea here and found the white tea with rose incredibly pleasant. It's not clear what temperature their water is, but it's not too hot for white teas. Staff are pleasant and the area around gate 1 has good light. Vegan snacks are available in the form of fruit. read more

Sat down at the tables, he never approached us, moved to the bar, rude and just sat there looking at us. Never asked if he could help, no smile, no hello, nothing. They were out of more than half the items in the menu. Here's a tip for you bartender/waitstaff... you have the ability to get a new job if you hate this one so much and you're bitter about working in a place where people come from all over the world! The girl who is working there right now is incredibly slow. She took forever getting two people bottled beers and then slowly closed our their checks. I was standing in the bakery line and she didn't acknowledge me until she was done helping everyone at the bar. I asked for an iced chai and she said she had no idea how to make one of those and that I would need to go to the place around the corner to get one. My flight had started boarding in the time it took her to get to me. I asked for a cookie and she gave me a muffin. When I reminded her that I had asked for a cookie she looked displeased with me.
