Got to front of line at 5:25 and was told there's an hour and fifteen minute wait. They'd filled all the tables for the first seating. Why do they not take reservations or figure out a better system? This is a must stop when in Lancaster. Went for the first time on a Friday night, I know it has 4 and a half stars but was still so blown away. The wait was long, shorter than told, but oh so worth it. I'm just going to focus on the food here. Whichever genius made this menu is a pure artist of a chef. We ordered the jerk chicken which, I hate to sound cheesy, was a symphony on a plate. I didn't expect much from such a simple chicken dish but it delivered. Everything flowed together so well. The flavors where phenomenal and the chicken was so juicy my mouth is watering just typing this. We also got the tips and toast. This is a staple for obvious reasons. The sauce was perfection. Even the cocktail menu was majestic. If I'm in town again this will be on the top of my list for dinner. Well done guys. read more

My husband found this gem through previous Yelp reviews during our last road trip. Overall great food and service. Our server was wonderful and even after a very long and busy day she seemed genuinely happy with her job. We ate dinner sound 9:30 pm so she had been there for quite some time at that point. If you are in a hurry I would not come here unless you find out they take reservations. We were eating so late that we didn't bother investing reservations but for 2 people it was a 45 minute wait. We had no problem with that because we were not on a right schedule but it may be a pain to some. The main sitting area makes you feel like you are in a barn. Literally a few of the tables are designed to look like horse stalls. It is also pretty dark in the main sitting area and loud. They do have 2 bars and the main entrance bar allows you to sit and order food there if you don't want to wait for a regular table. Very large booze, wine and beer list. If you like cocktails there is definitely something there for you. I enjoyed a chocolate stout and was very happy. For dinner we got the BLFGT and the Music City's Hot Chicken Sandwich. I loved the BLFGT and my husband loved his chicken sandwich. However it is hot like they describe so don't order if you can't handle the heat! If you are not from that area do yourself a favor and hit up google map street view before attempting to find this place. The restaurant itself is on a second floor so the front door looks like nothing special. It took us about 20 minutes to find it but it was dark and rainy. Our GPS was routing us to their off street parking lot so that also confused us. If you can use the parking lot. The restaurant gives plenty of warnings that you will get a ticket for parking right in front of the restaurant. Food was good. Service was not great-and our waiter was so nice! But maybe there weren't enough waiters? We had to ask for water multiple times, ask them to take plates away, for dessert, a check....literally everything. It's a great cozy little place with a fun atmosphere. Located on the second floor of an old barn (the menu tells the whole story) this place is a great spot for food, drink, and entertainment. Two small bars outline the dining area, with foosball and shuffleboard thrown about. One of the bars also has a jukebox with both oldies and new music available. The Horse Fries were amazing and a big enough appetizer to split amongst the table. I had the Shrimp and Grits (there's a southern influence to the menu) and it was made and presented perfectly. I absolutely love Horse Inn. The ambiance and decor is fun and exciting. The wait staff and bartenders are always happy, helpful and cheerful. Their cocktails are TOP NOTCH! You can't go wrong with the Tom Collins - always my go-to and is always made perfectly. Their food is phenomenal. I recommend getting the Horse Fries - delicious (House Made Sausage, Parmesan & Aged Provolone Cheese, Garlic Heavy Cream). Their wings are also fabulous. I wish they would put their hot honey chicken sandwich back on the menu because it is my favorite! My friends always rave about their burgers - saying they are the best in town. The Horse Inn has incredible atmosphere, cocktails, live music and the food was phenomenal! It is worth five stars and many return visits in order to try more menu items. We drank the Pistol Under the Pillow and Fulton Street Sour cocktails to start. Both were expertly crafted and delivered in a timely fashion despite the place being packed (Saturday 8pm). We were lucky to snag a couple of bar stools at which point we orded the Ham & Peaches (salad), Horse Inn Burger and Horse Fries. The ingredients were fresh, burger was way above average in tastiness (great cuts of beef go into their burger mix) and the fries were hearty and crispy enough to withstand the creamy sausage gravy without being overdone. Cool spot. Great place to hang out away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. This place has historic and hipster appeal. Could be a bit romantic or a fun chill spot. You won't be surrounded by the newly minted 21 year olds on a Saturday evening. I don't know if folks with difficulty with stairs can do this place. It has a hidden gem appeal, but to get to the restaurant there is a flight of stairs. It is possible they have elevators I didn't see. Call ahead. The food was good, but the ambiance and service was better. I'd come back to show my out-of-town friends. I would also like to try their burger, which all the patrons rave about. The buttermilk chicken was sous vide and very flavorful. There were a few areas where the skin was crispy, then others where it was a bit squishy. The shrimp and grits were my husbands entree and were okay. The burrata was cooked cheese with lovely local tomatoes and beets served with a large amount of garlic bread. I enjoyed this most but prefer fluffier cheese. This cheese was a bit hard to spread due to it being more like a melted cheese blob. Tasty but difficult. We were recommended this place. WOW!! Looks like nothing from the street. This is one of the very best restaurants in Lancaster. Craft cocktails are off the chart. The Horse Inn Cheeseburger was incredible.. voted Lancaster's best for five years. I had the chicken which defies description. How do you get excited about chicken, really? It was the bomb. One of my favorite restaurants so far in Lanc. The concept is really cool, but it's the food and drinks that keep this restaurant packed on a daily basis. This review is for the food and drinks only as they are worth the five star review, however if not for the food and drinks, I would have to give it four stars. So, the wait area needs to be a little more organized. I do strongly suggest arriving around 4:30, but no later than 4:45 to wait in "line". They have a lobby area and when that fills up, the line stretches outside the door. The issue with the "line" inside the lobby is that it's not really a line, people just stand and unfortunately, their have been issues with who was first as was almost the case with us on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I did not appreciate people arriving after us and having the gall to get in front of my family and I as we had been there waiting for 30 minutes. We had a large party of 9 and thank goodness everything ended up working out. The other issue is that they have ONE restroom for each sex. Not a good thing for such a busy establishment and also not good when it's pouring rain and you're getting wet from a leaking ceiling while trying to use the bathroom. Now...on to the food/drinks.... Horse Fries...I don't do pork, so if you omit that, they're very good Burrata...normally one of my favorites, but this was particularly salty and the burrata was a little harder than normal Wings.....so delish. I don't normally like wings but, wow! Korean fried cauliflower....will knock your socks off. It was one of my fav dishes Pumpkin Linguine....very good Shrimp and Grits....I've had better Fresh Catch....AMAZING! I so wanted to leave 5 stars after seeing the great reviews and being really impressed with the ambience but after waiting for our food over 35 minutes for appetizers no less I found it a little disappointing!Doesn't take away from the very cool speakeasy vibe and the food quality was very very good! What impressed me most were the mixologist's working the bar! I got a very interesting whiskey sour with the horses inn twist on it! And a couple of other concoctions I cannot remember the names but it definitely got me buzzed!Lol like I said the food was very good! Wow what a burger! I was visiting friends and they took me here and I was NOT disappointed. They now take reservations which was a great way to snag a seat. There was live music with a bass and pianist planning which set the atmosphere. I ordered a drink with vodka, lavender and orange, and it was unique flavorful and hit all the right notes. We all ordered the cheeseburger which was incredible!!! They don't just put a slice of cheese on, they slather the burger with melted cheese and their special sauce which stole the show, and one of my favorite burgers ever. read more

The first time I ate here, I was running to get back. After last night's dinner, I'm a bit reluctant due to the server - I'll keep him nameless in hopes it was just an off night for him, but he was not warm or welcoming or friendly, nor informative about the menu or questions asked. Our food and drink orders did come out accurate however. The food was good - I tried the burrata, wedge salad, and Bolognese pasta. I believe he was annoyed that we stayed "so long", although he never gave us a timing warning or explained any of this to begin with - when we asked for dessert, he seemed angry and told us we are past our time limit? That was the first we'd hear of this. Alas, I still rated 4 stars because the food was good and it is Covid times to I'm trying to be understanding of that. So I'm sitting here for 45 min. and waiting for my boiled peanut appetizer. My kids are starving. Everyone around me who sat after me is eating. The atmosphere is cool and so is the menu. We came extra early to dine; however, the host was terribly rude about our non reservation during pandemic times. He barely addressed us and looked past us to other guests and only repeated they were booked and didn't have open tables. That's fine, and it was our misunderstanding. Our party left and looked forward to an alternate destination. A friendly host would have been appreciated and would have initiated a return date. Certainly in my Top 5 meals. The place was super- busy, but the food quality didn't suffer. The Manhattan was the best I've ever had. The kitchen sent out jalapeno poppers and nectarines on crustini before we had ordered. The jalapenos were amazing. Everything was good, but the Buratta was remarkable. The mozzarella was made in house, local heirloom tomatoes, just outstanding. All in all, wonderful. Very fresh & sophisticated flavors. It is out of the way, you have to be going there on purpose. Packed house after 7pm, I assume it was a Top 5 meal for many of them, too. UPDATE: Back in town, a year later. Stopped in & the food was still outstanding. Overall, the place felt more established and had even more personality. They are bottling their own alcoholic sodas. I had a cucumber, lime, mint soda that tasted like it was based on gin and CO2. My wife and I went there for our anniversary and we're left pretty disappointed. First off it was way over priced for what it is and second the steak wife got was absolutely terrible!! It was way under cooked, she could barely cut it with a steak knife.
