I went here a LONG time ago for hibachi - and it was fine. I recently had a hankering for spicy mayo and tempura shrimp so decided to revisit this spot and - omg so good! I came in during a lunch-ish time - 2:30 on a Thursday. Pretty quiet but whatever. Was seated immediately and given a lot of attention. Ordered a spicy cali roll, a patchogue roll, and a shrimp tempura roll and all of them came out quickly and were delicious! In keen on going back to try other fish based sushi but overall it hit the spot for what I was looking for. The only kind of draw back I encountered was that the space could probably do with some refreshing. I ordered take out for dinner. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. I wouldn't say I disappointed, but I wasn't overly impressed. I had a kani salad that was just okay. It's served on top of some lettuce which I feel is a filler. Flavor wise it was just okay. Very basic. For my roll I had a J-Lin roll. It had crunchy spicy salmon & cucumber w. avocado & fresh salmon on top w. spicy mayo. This was also just okay. There wasn't a "wow" factor and there was a little too much spicy mayo on top. The food was delicious! My issue is how rushed they made me feel. The second we were brought to our seats I'm being asked what I want for my entree. I understand it is face paced for the hibatchi but the way I was being asked was as if I should have prepared myself before I came in. Mind you I came with my daughter who I was also trying to figure out food for and when I was repeatedly asked I just said chicken so she could stop asking me as if I didn't hear her. Was never asked if I wanted a drink and then was handed to go boxes not even 5 minutes after our food was done! Even the people sitting next to us were shocked as their bill was dropped while they were packing their food to go. It was honestly really annoying. Me and my daughters experience here tonight was not good at all! My 17 old daughter" s portion was for a child compared to others at table and her meal was the same price. Usually go to this hip, clean restaurant when Hubby and I are in the mood for our favorite flavorful chicken teriyaki, it comes with and soup or a salad. Always delivered hot, delicious and cooked to perfection. We usually order a few things on the side and almost always pleased. The one thing I definitely would not recommend is the Tempura Vegetables. Bland and oily. We usually sit by the window in the bar area. It is guiet and intimate. Cocktails are tasty but weak. Staff is friendly, professional and accommodating. I've seen a few reviews complaining about staff but we've never experienced this. Cooked food is delicious here. Steak is always cooked perfectly and noodles, rice, etc. are all always a hit with our group. Sushi is passable, but definitely not as good as cooked fare. Sushi rolls are very heavy on the mayo and add on ingredients so you can't really taste the fish. "Spicy" isn't very spicy and crunch is hard to find so everything winds up tasting pretty similar. Service is friendly but lacks etiquette. Two of three of my party were served a full ten minutes before the last person's food left the kitchen. Not only is it glaringly obvious that the two earlier served chose food that was pre-made and (overly) refrigerated, but it's not a comfortable way to dine with friends when one person is either left to eat alone, or two have to sit and stare at their plates for ten minutes before the other is served. Service aside, my biggest issue is the appearance of the restaurant. You're hit with a strong odor of bleach when you walk in the door, wet floor caution signs are ALWAYS either open on the floor or leaning against the bar. All of the tables in the dining area have peeling wood. Lights are hanging off the walls, and the curtains are filthy. While the food is acceptable for dinner when other restaurants have too long of a wait, I regret bringing a long coat in here for fear that it'll touch the floor. A little TLC in the dining room, bar and restrooms would go a long way. read more

This is one of the few times I truly regret spending $200 on food. Not a single person in my party was satisfied. The sushi and sashimi were passable, but everything else was barely edible.. save for the noodles that come with the hibachi meal, those were very tasty. Either way I would avoid this place. WAY overpriced for Long Island, and the staff were not necessarily rude but not friendly. Just returned home from Hoshi Sushi and Hibachi where we had a wonderful meal. The plum saki was so good, we ordered a second bottle, which we never do. Two of us ordered the Blue Point and Huntington rolls with house salads, and one of us had the sushi sashimi combination with salad. Everything was so fresh, delicious and you could taste each of the individual ingredients in the rolls. It was by far the best sushi I have had in a long time. Anthony was our waiter, and he was attentive and charming. We will definitely be returning soon, and making Hoshi our new regular sushi place. read more

Went here tonight. The food was terrible. The fried rice had absolutely no flavor. The vegetables they put in it were some canned corn and peas. Blandest fried rice I have ever had. Then on to the meat. The steak was like rubber, so chewy and with no flavor. The chicken seemed like it was about to go bad. The shrimp had that metallic or iodine taste. Nothing here was fresh. My mothers scallops weee so fishy. To top all of this off, the manager said she was not going to take anything off the bill! They would cook me the meals again in the back but she didn't want to just remove them. Seriously it was not edible! So when the bill came for the one drink I had they added $10 for the two small soups that came with the meal. Haha I also want to say it was the smallest serving of rice and vegetables I have ever gotten at a hibachi restaurant! I should have know when on a Friday night in Patchogue the place was DEAD. Came here today for the first time in a while and I have to say the food is always consistently good! The place is clean and up with the times. Our waiter, Anthony was spot on and very attentive. He even went out of his way to show the chef a picture my husband had on his phone from 4 years ago to figure out what rolls they were. We had the dynamite and sushi pizza for appetizers. We also ordered the naruto roll, tiger roll, Natasha roll, & Holtsville roll. Everything tasted great and was fresh! We had so much food for 2 of us we needed a doggy bag. The rolls are average priced and are worth it. This is definitely one of my favorite sushi restaurants on LI. read more

I hate to hear so many people had bad experiences, I'm local, and while I agree they are a little pricey, I still have never had any crazy problems.. My friend got chicken teriyaki once that by looking at her reaction and the dish itself, I'd never touch, but every single other aspect in perfectly content with. I think the rolls, while not too crazy or inventive, are solid, well executed, and delicious. I think the hibachi rice is some of the best, as well as their ginger dressing. They have good filet minion if that's your thing at the hibachi spots. I've sat at the sushi bar on a super packed night, I've sat at the hibachi tables, and I usually grab a regular table. (I don't need some overdone show and watered down saki squirted in my face) and I've never had any awful service, no one has ever been rude, and tonight in particular our waitress was super helpful, super sweet, and extra attentive on the waters. From here on out I always get shumai but fried and I always try to find something new, but sorta wind up with the same few favorites. All in all you aren't going to find anything on this menu you wouldn't on any other given sushi/hibachi joint, but I don't see why that's some sort of deplorable thing, they have what they have and I thing they do it well. Their fish is fresh and you pay a little more than you should have to. I agree they are a little pricey, but go check em out, and let me know what you think. I love(d) this place. I used to order 3 times a week. I typically order the same thing. I am allergic to mushrooms, and when I placed the same order I always do, they decided to charge me $3 extra to NOT out an item in. I didn't ask for a substitute or anything in lieu of it. When I called to ask why the price was different I was met with rudeness and an abrupt "go somewhere else". The lady then realized who I was and how much money I spent there, and told me they would " do a courtesy" this time. I laughed, told them they have to be kidding and to cancel my order. Never ever will I order from there again- there food is good, but post-Covid who has the time or money for such rude, disrespectful owners and managers. Pretty sure for that price ($28.00) you get both when you dine in, also was getting charged and extra $2.50 for teriyaki sauce AND an extra $2.50 for fried rice. Are they kidding me???? Between door dash charges and tip I got a little container of food with gross soup and spent $45.00. For ONE MEAL! Disgusting. Talk about price gouging. I'm totally disgusted. I've been here before and wanted to try it again, but I highly recommend you avoid this restaurant. The lady in the front was the only person in this establishment who knows what hospitality is. Once we were seated, the waitress came over and asked us what we wanted, even tho we did not even get to look at the menu. She was very rude and spoke so low we couldnt understand what she was saying, when I asked for another drink she responded very rudely and was kind of rushing us to order. The food is pricey and not even that good. Takeout is better. The restaurant itself is dirty and has a very cold atmosphere. Do not come here!! read more

My husband ordered shrimp tempura and he said it's all bread crumbs with very little shrimp. They also made a mistake with his order because at first they gave him shrimp teriyaki even if he ordered shrimp tempura so we had to wait a bit more for his meal. Went for hibachi with a big group for a birthday. Service was great, even if a little too deferential -- really courteous, with servers even going out of their ways to re-cook a dish with gluten-free soy sauce in the back kitchen after finding out one of our party had failed to disclose they didn't eat gluten. Another one of our party needed their food cooked with less oil or butter instead of oil, but instead of cooking it in a corner of the hibachi grill, they also had that made up in the back, which was kind of weird. Accommodating, but weird. Based on service, they've earned the extra star, because tbh, the food only warrants two. If you like your food absolutely DROWNING in syrupy teriyaki sauce. If you like thick, sweet sauce and a lot of it, you'll love this place. If you want something with a lighter touch, as I usually do, and go in expecting just a light soy drizzle as usually found at most teppanyakis, you'll find yourself cringing. Even the vegetables are doused with a dumping of teriyaki. And asking for light oil is not really a thing they can accommodate, due to the high heat of the grill, so it's doubly unhealthy. Fried rice was blah, but I liked that you can get noodles instead. But the noodles are plain, on the oily side, and also drenched in teriyaki. Soup was fine, salad's dressing seemed mayo-based. TL; DR - if you love gallons of gloopy teriyaki sauce all over everything, this is your place. If you're trying to go for something a wee bit healthier, you could do better. read more
