50 minutes from where I live, but definitely worth a visit! Our server was the sweetest girl ever I wish I got her name . She was so kind and professional. The atmosphere is so beautiful day invested so much money into this beautiful place. When my friend and I left this place, everybody was just saying have a good day and even asked us if the food was good so they have expectational service even walking out! The food was incredible. I fell in love with a little cards attached to your cocktails. I did not get a Cocktail. I got a coffee that I made myself with homemade syrup and it was phenomenal but my friend got a cocktail with this little note attached with a movie quote. I love the tiny downtown Utica area and there are a lot of good places to dine around here. I was so excited about this place and it's every changing menu/chefs. The place is beautiful, it's decorated fantastically and it is very inviting. We got seated right away and even the chairs were very comfortable. Our server was great as well. I wanted to order the Roasting on an open fire cocktail but that was all sold out, the flannel jams as well all sold out. Tried the avocadica and I cannot put into words how turned off I was by that. Finally settled on the conjuring spring and that was pretty good. My wife got the mistletoe and we both agreed that it was really good. We started with the gnocchi and it was delicious. There was enough to share between two people for sure but if you've got more than that, you'll need a second order. After this is where it kinda went south for me. I went with the Sicilian style tuna and my wife got the steak pizzaiola. My tuna dish had absolutely zero seasoning. It tasted like a low quality poke dish. My wife's steak was 100% burnt on the bottom. It was cooked medium rare and that was great but it felt like someone took a butane torch to it to mimic char. That was a fail. The "zip sauce" always makes me wonder... there was neither zip nor any sauciness. I know not everyone can make it like Andiamo, but that is the only zip sauce I'll ever get from now on. It's a beautiful place and I'm sure there are a lot of really good items on the menu that we didn't get to try. But it was not the birthday dinner that I'll ever remember. The steak is so expensive for not having any sides with it. And it was tiny but called a shareable. I'm not 110lbs, I will not be full off of this steak by any means. *This review is mostly directed at the current chef.* The ambience of the restaurant is very cute, they did a great job with the remodel. The people who ordered cocktails said they were great, but there were no mocktails for those of us not drinking so I will have to take their word for it. Drink service was a bit slow (20 minutes). Beware vegans there is nothing here for you with the current menu. There is also no kids menu. All the food came out at different times. It was 20 minutes from the time the first dish hit the table until the time the last dish hit the table. My dad ordered the tuna crudo and throughly enjoyed it, but it was a appetizer portion. Husband ordered the crab spaghetti and also enjoyed it. The rest of us did not enjoy our dishes, 4 out of 6 dishes were very salty. My 6 year old nephew and my sister got the steak but was inedible according to him. The others tried it and said it was charred and salty with no other flavors. My mom got the meatball and said it was salty and dry. I ordered the gnocchi and it was good but very salty. We all feel like we needed to drink a gallon of water after. The server was a little sassy and rolled her eyes when she picked up the plate of steak that my nephew didn't eat. We left with a $200 bill and had to stop at Wendy's after. Overall we will probably give a different chef a try depending on the menu items. read more

Love this place. I found out about it through Romena's pastry shop, who makes AMAZINGLY PERFECT TREATS!!!!! I've only had the coffee here, I get the caramel latte and it's one of the best lattes I've ever had. Service is impeccable and the staff are extremely friendly. I've yet to tried the food, but the rotating menu is so fun for Macomb. The interior is also beautiful, I love the bar so much. Go to Host!!!! read more

Cool new spot in Utica with great staff and service, lovely craft cocktails, and a unique and seasonal menu of delicious creations. We tried the amaretto sour, limoncello and the mistletoe-all artfully prepared and yummy drinks. For food we tried duck confit poutine which was crispy and savory, the leek bread pudding had an amazing gruyère custard base, and the burrata plum salad was perfect. My husband and I try to visit at least once for each rotating chef. We got in at the last minute to try Chef Jessica Phillips' menu and we absolutely enjoyed it! We had the Spring Carrots, Ricotta Dumplings, and Mac & Brie with chicken. We hope Host will have Chef Jessica back again so we can try more of her dishes. I was at this restaurant for the first time today for my son's birthday celebration for breakfast/brunch. We all enjoyed our meals. Service was by Valerie whom was amazing too. Ambiance I loved it too. Definitely will go back. My son and my ex both are GF and they were both satisfied with their choices. Absolutely recommend dining or having an event at Host. I have eaten at Host before and every meal has been awesome. A friend recommended renting the upstairs for an event and I'm so glad that I did. The event ran so smooth that I felt like a guest at my own party. We finally decided to try Host yesterday after having it on our list for a while. The restaurant is gorgeous and the staff was extremely friendly. Our server helped explain everything to us and the chef came out and talked to each table, which is always nice. I do have to say, the food wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be. The food was good the only downside was that the eggs in my dish were incredibly overdone but I know that can be a difficult feat with Shakshuka. We went with a group to try the pizza by Nino. The restaurant has guest chefs. Yesterday, they had a French style menu and a pizza menu. We ordered off of both menus. The food was all great. I really enjoyed all of the pizzas, especially the hot honey pizza. My only complaint is that some of the table wanted a salad with the pizza, and no salads were available. The bar had a number of craft cocktails, but I am not sure that they really went with the food being served. I am not sure what the answer is, but a more cohesive menu would be great. Service was good. The food was 5 stars, the concept 5 stars, execution of it all together, maybe 3 stars. read more

Just tried this place for brunch. It's located in downtown Utica and features a menu created by rotating chefs. This is such a unique feature! Absolutely beautiful design and ambiance on the inside. Our waitress was also incredibly attentive and friendly! Their drink menu offers a variety of coffees, teas, and cocktails. I had no complaints with my cappuccino! I decided to go with the avocado toast for my meal, and sadly was not impressed with this particular item. The toast was a bit soggy and the avocado spread was bland and very sparse. However, I sampled the Brussels sprout hash and chicken and waffles dishes off my friends plates and thought these were both done very well (particularly the hash!). I would easily give a 4 or 5 stars based on other menu items I tasted. I would definitely give this place another try but would like to try other dishes. read more

Stopped in on Saturday night for a drink. Kind of a spur of the moment thing. First time visiting Host. Very impressed. Looking at the details you can see they are doing their best to give the patron a great experience. Extensive bourbon and tequila selection. Craft cocktails were delicious. We ordered an appetizer (waygu beef skewers). The seasoning and sauce was excellent. The menu is limited but the selections sound intriguing. If I could slip in one recommendation it is to add a charcuterie board to the appetizer list. They also advertise Brunch, which we will certainly try. Definitely coming back here. The food, service, and ambiance are five star at Host. I would have given a 5 rating, but the small portion of short ribs warranted the lower rating. We dined during Chef Ken of Yarrow's residence. The menu options and food items were amazing. I had the squash blossoms as an appetizer - they were tender and the cheese filling was complimentery, not overpowering. The brick oven margherita pizza was perfectly cooked. Two of our diners ordered the short ribs. The dish was delicious! Unfortunately the portion size was underwhelming for $38. If it was accompanied with potatoes, it would have been worth it. For dessert, we shared the chocolate s'mores snd almond cake. Both were decadent and not too rich. The berries and ice cream with the very moist almond cake was astounding. I appreciate that we were offered decaf espresso to round out the meal. We thoroughly enjoyed everything, just wish the portion of the main course was more substantial. We love the concept, atmosphere and food offered, and look forward to the next chef offerings at Host. read more

Each chef brings something great to the table and you get to try all types of foods. ChefMike is currently in the mix & his menu is PHENOMENAL! OMG we had it twice and it was INCREDIBLE EACH TIME. We are going back AGAIN with my parents. They also do Pastries on Mondays and PASTRIESBYROMENA is one of the best pastry chefs in the state. WOW I tried every pastry she brings to host and AHHHMAZZING. YOU HAVE TO TRY HER CROISSANTS. MY FAV!!! The poptarts are also a hit! Overall HOST is an amazing experience! Everything met or exceeded expectation each time here. Last guest chef here made a dish I have only had at Disney World called chicken bastilla and can't find anywhere else. Points for having something like that here and hope for a return residency of this chef. Would like to come out more often at the very least for their great drinks and hope they come up with a rewards system or take a buck off the prices here and there. My niece took me here for my birthday and I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience. We didn't have a reservation so we luckily got two seats up at the bar. Greeted by a friendly bartender who was happy to give us great suggestions. She was definitely on point with everything. From the spicy Bloody Mary's to the food, we were so happy with our selections. We split the Cajun sausage hash and the peach French toast, both amazing. The atmosphere is chic and lively. The decor is bright and happy. I suggest you make reservations if at all possible because it is a very popular new place. It was so good I went back the next day with my daughter, and ordered the same exact thing!!!! From what I understand the concept is that there is a new " host" / chef every few months and so with that the menu changes. Can't wait to try to he new menu soon. read more
