We were in the Houston area en route to boarding a cruise ship from Galveston. We had dinner plans but we needed something small to get us to dinner. Hot Biscuit was perfect for what we wanted. They have a fairly extensive menu and we had options for a small meal. We chose the nachos. Portions were large. Service was prompt in all capacities. It's a diner so not terribly fancy but it is perfect if you need food at an odd time. Close to airport hotels but not at hotel prices. Hubby and I both recommend! read more

I stopped at the Hot Biscuit with my 60-yr old daughter yesterday for the first time aound 1 PM. We looked over the menu - which listed all-day breakfast service and many other selections. My daughter ordered the Grilled Chicken Stir Fry plate ($11.99) and iced tea ($2.59). I ordered a cheese omelet.($7.69) - with home-fried potatoes and pancakes - and coffee ($2.59). Her Stir Fry plate oddly came with a piece of thick toast (one might have expected an egg roll, since the dish was decidedly Chinese) and when she asked for soy sauce to put onto the main dish, there were no bottles available. However, the server made do by going into the kitchen and returning with a small serving bowl of soy sauce and also a small bowl of sweet Mandarin sauce (to put onto what, we never figured out.) My cheese "omelette" (their spelling on the check) was nothing more than three beaten eggs fried in an omelet pan and folded over on themselves, then sprinkled with some type of yellow shredded cheese. This produced a very rubbery, flavorless and tough "slab" of eggs. The home-fried red potatoes that came with the meal were cooked well, but made a very skimpy serving as there were about 10 small "chunks" of them. The two pancakes that I chose as part of the meal offering were dry and tasteless, even after applying several small butter packages and a very unremarkable syrup (which was however served warm.) I found the coffee was the best part of the meal; it was really deliciious and I asked for a refill. But, my daughter's iced tea was so clear one could see rirght through it. We were in town for a layover and stopped in for Breakfast. First I'd like to say, service was good. Our waitress was very nice and she was in training, but she did very well.. The food was good. After being stranded in Houston at the airport for 16 hours I decided to go grab some food. (Everything outside of TSA had closed extremely early) I wound up ubering over by the hotels to kill two hours because spirit airlines is terrible and kept telling me they would email me a hotel voucher and never did. I found this little gem on Apple Maps and was excited because it looked like a breakfast buffet. Once I arrived Kinda felt catfishes by the exterior but don't let this stop you from giving it a try. I was greeted by Paula as soon as I walked in and she was super friendly, this was a breathe of fresh air for me after having dealt with spirit airlines "customer service" with 17 ten-sixty minute phone calls, being hung up on, etc. Paula really made me feel welcomed and relaxed after such a frustrating day. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was AMAZING as well, by far the best I have had. My experience was so good. I decided to come back today and try some more items! My waitress today is very helpful too. I assume they just hire the most helpful friendly people they can find. THIS IS GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GOOD BUSINESS. My friend and I had a flight delay that sent us to stay in a hotel with hot biscuit as the restaurant covered in the meal voucher. The place was roomy and clean, service was super quick, and there was tons of space for parking. The food itself was what you would expect from a pretty cheap diner. You go in knowing that you're going to have a meal that's going to take years off your life. There were loads of options which was nice, but quality wasn't anything to brag about. From everything we tried, I think the breakfast tacos and French toast were pretty safe bets? The mimosa was a bit on the weak side, but mine typically only have a splash of oj, so perhaps this is standard amongst mortals. I gave them a one-star rating solely based on the service. For over two years, my family and I would pass by this restaurant with its "HOT biscuit" sign, but we never found the time to stop and indulge until today. Needless to say, it was a big mistake. Ladies and gentlemen, I strongly advise against trying it. Let me explain why. It all started with the coffee. We ordered a regular cup, but what we received was a dirty, watery concoction that lacked any flavor. We promptly requested a replacement, but the second cup was just as disappointing. It seemed the coffee had no taste whatsoever, despite being freshly brewed. We returned the coffee, and my wife wore a disapproving expression, indicating that there would be no tip given. I reassured her that it wasn't the server's fault and asked her to remain calm. Then came the Benedict pouch eggs. I can't even find the words to describe them adequately. The sausage was not for human consumption , causing my wife to have a panic attack or at least consider attacking the server. I tried to calm her down, reminding her that it wasn't the server's fault either. Then came an imitation of Philly steak mushroom omelette. The mushrooms were dark and old, just like the steak, which had an unpleasant frozen, burnt meat flavor. To make matters worse, we couldn't even locate the peppers in the dish. My meal came with two biscuits, but they were neither fresh nor had that distinct BISCUITVILLE FLAVOR we adore. We managed to eat only one of them, while my wife raised her hand, summoning the manager. Once again, I asked her to relax and enjoy her pancakes. Ah, the pancakes! Or should I say, the disaster they turned out to be! They were chewy, cold, and completely devoid of any flavor. These were, without a doubt, the worst pancakes we had ever encountered. As I took my final bite, I witnessed my wife running out of the restaurant, exclaiming, "You pay! I can't stand this food. I need an Alka-Seltzer." At the end We settled the bill and left a tip for the server. the overall experience was highly disappointing, primarily due to the unsatisfactory quality of the food. read more

I was in Houston for a business trip and always looking for those little gem restaurants (not a chain restaurant). I was staying at the Hilton right next to this restaurant and even tho it didn't have very good reviews thought I would give it a shot. Well, first the hostess/server Pamela was excellent. Very cute and bubbly personality too! I asked her for recommendations and she said "everything's good". I went with the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and corn. Let me say, this was one of the best chicken fried steaks I've had! Tender, crispy and not greasy! Gravy was full of flavor too! Huge portions too. I had came here after being recommended by our hotel for some great food close by thats 24/7 and is known to have some delicious food that was within walking distance. Paula the Server, busser, hostess, to-go order taker & packer and cashier and was alone on a slammed Sunday night handling 6+ tables and 1 table with 8 people and was communicating in Spanish at one point smoothly and efficiently with great customer service had us sat down within the first minute of walking in. It was EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE I wanted to record but felt it would be creepy... I had ordered the steak & shrimp accompanied by breaded okra and rice with gravy on top (paula's recommendation) and it was absolutely amazing. I didn't take to the steak due to my preference is steak is a bit higher quality and she went above and beyond to replace my steak with chicken and had assured me it was not a problem but the okra and rice & shrimp we cooked. I also ordered pigs in a blanket with egg whites which was the perfect way to top off dinner with someone sweet and filling! Knowing I'd be hungry in the morning I asked for a to-go breakfast burrito and man .. was it hard tk wait for the morning .. the chili smelled delicious. I had a couple of pancakes some bacon, sausage links, hashbrowns, and some eggs and it was absolutely delicious. I topped it off with some decaf coffee. I came in here for breakfast prior to catching an early morning flight. The dining area is clean with welcoming decor. The staff seem to be waking up themselves but were overall attentive and friendly. The coffee is strong, hot, and fresh. It is continually refilled so I never got to see the bottom of the mug. The water has an off taste to it but that may have more to do with the municipal water supply than The Hot Biscuit. My main order is the hamburger steak and eggs. The over-easy eggs were cooked perfectly, and comes with a nicely buttered toast. There is also a good hash brown on the side. The hamburger steak, however, is a big disappointment: it is clearly not fresh ground beef, likely frozen, and had a aftertaste that is characteristic of a lower grade meat. Our hotel recommended this place as it was open 24hrs and literally close to the airport and our hotel. It reminds you of a Denny's or IHOP as far as the looks of it. Decent size menu. Our waitress was very nice and attentive however the food wasn't that great. I had the waffle with scrambled eggs and Turkey bacon. The bacon was tough as leather and tasted like it was deep fried in oil. My waffle was heavy and chewy and my eggs were extremely hard and cold with a slice of Velveeta cheese slapped on top. My husband and our friend said there food was ok. They had a chicken fried chicken with eggs and pancakes. Mozzarella sticks (best part of the meal for me) and a shrimp quesadilla. This place is always consistent! Breakfast and lunch, no matter what you get, it's always hot and delicious. Since being in Texas, we've been here about 5 times or more. The French Deuces which consists of 4 slices of French toast, 2 eggs, 2 bacon slices and 2 pieces of sausage is delicious! As well as the western and veggie omelettes, those come with sides that will make you full. Honorable mention is the patty melt ! Delicious. I gave them 4 stars because they covered all the basics well, but there was no "Wow" factor with the food. Clean place, friendly staff and helpful with the menu(great looking menu). The waitress did an excellent job. She kept checking on my food and needs, & with a smile(sometimes when people are having a bad day, a smile can distract them). In my opinion, from experience as a customer and former manager, fill the plate with food. Don't ever serve it French style with gaps. Either make the omelette larger or add more hash browns. You're not going to become a millionaire by saving on potatoes. If you offer decent to great food, generous with portions, you can charge a little more and never run out of customers(most people like to feel like they got a bargain). The omelette was decent, but could use some help. The owner should teach the chef how to make a fluffy omelette(like they do at big hotels like The Marriott and restaurants that have huge clienteles like Cantor's in Los Angeles or Beach Break Cafe in Oceanside,Ca) stuff grated cheese inside the omelette, and offer a wider selection of toast/breads(offer coffee cake as an option an watch the demand explode, for who doesn't like coffee cake?). The coffee needs some improvement. Offer better coffee served in larger cups. Make these changes and locals will return and spread the word. Being so close to the largest airport in the US and right off the beltway, there's no excuse for not packing out this place and having people sit on a bench in line to get in. One last message to the owner-manager: search out the menus of successful restaurants,mimic their menus, food quantities and qualities, raise your excitement about such an opportunity and make it happen! I have driven by this restaurant many, many times over the years going to IAH but have never stopped by. For one reason, I rarely eat breakfast out from home and two I wasn't sure as to the quality of the restaurant. One night a couple of weeks ago, I arrived at IAH at 9:30 p.m. without having dinner due to a hurried departure and no real food on the flight. Most of the food places in the airport had closed by then along with the few food places on JFK and I didn't want to go through a drive thru so I thought what the heck, its time to try this place out. It is a 24 hr diner and therefore serves breakfast, lunch and dinner foods so don't let the name fool you. At 10:00 p.m. it wasn't busy at all. I sat down and ordered dinner. From the menu, I ordered a grilled tilapia dinner with green beans and carrots that also came with a side salad. The salad came out first and I was amazed at its size. It was an entree size salad and tasted good. I couldn't eat all if it. The meal came out about 10-15 minutes later. It was surprisingly good. The tilapia had a nice flavor and the veggies were good too. Honestly this turned out better than expected and I gave the meal a 3.5. Table service was good too. I couldn't eat all if this food so I took home my leftovers from the fish and veggies and had it the next day and it was still good tasting. For now, I will round down to a 3 however I will return. I have now discovered a good basic restaurant near the airport that is always open and serves good food. Yes, it's a 24 hr diner, but a good one! read more

I went in to this experience knowing what to expect -- halfway decent diner food, friendly server, etc. I had no allusions. HOWEVER, you cannot create a breakfast restaurant, named after a popular breakfast staple, and only offer hydrogenated oil slop to put on top of said staple. I received low grade "spread" with the ingredients being "Water, Partially Hydrogenated Soy Bean Oil.. etc etc." I asked for real butter and the nice lady brought me a carafe of the same stuff. So I ate the eggs and bacon (undoubtedly cooked in that poison too) tipped 20% because it's not her fault, and got the h*ll out of there, never to return. If you want to serve that inflammatory, probably cancer causing, definitely linked to obesity, trans fat hydrogenated seed oil that's your prerogative. But you should absolutely offer a normal, whole food alternative like BUTTER, which humans have been eating for thousands of years. It's 2025 now, not 1989. Get it together, Hot Biscuit.
