My favorite food is Indian. This was my first time trying this place and I wasn't really blown away tbh. Appetizer: Samosa Main: Chile chicken: tasted more sweet than spicy Chicken Biryani: was good but definitely had some heat to it as soon as I took a bite Butter chicken: could've used more flavor. Tasted like chicken tikka masala Garlic Naan: was okay. Sauces: the two sauces at the bottom were good,IMO. Overall, idk if I would order from here again. Glad I tried it though,thank you!

Do not order for any important occasion! Iordered a cake for my wedding reception and it looked like a child decorated it. The bottom left photo is what I ordered, minus a layer. The other two photos are what I received for my wedding. What was I supposed to do, I needed a cake. I tried to contact the owner a couple days after and never received a response. This was a $200+ cake and this is the service I get. In addition, the cake was very dry. It was embarrassing serving it to our guests. Decided to give it another try now what it has rebranded. Still disappointing, just needed a basic birthday cake and was told there was nobody to write of them. The chocolate layer wasn't even properly covering the top.

This place has changed yet AGAIN... the set up is a bit more refined though still very family/casual. Menu has changed a bit, but still most of the "favorites" are available. The host was also running the bakery so he was a little distracted but the server was sweet and they also had the QR code at your table option for orders.

This place is great! The hubby and I stopped by for a quick bite and shared an order of the butter chicken and a cake pop. The food was ready relatively quickly! We thought the order of the butter chicken was an excellent portion and loved the authentic metal serving tray. The chicken was clean (no gross or fatty pieces) and had the perfect amount of heat. The rice was tender and the naan was mouthwatering. They even had some onion on the side to give a little zing to the curry! The cake pop was scrumptious: Super chocolatey in flavor and I liked the texture of the crunchy sprinkles against the soft cake. A great find!

Got the butter chicken (one for each of us) and while it WAS good, neither hubs nor myself was full after this $30 meal. Each entrée was $14. They gave literally 7 bites of rice each, 5 medium chicken pieces, no potatoes we had to scrounge around our fridge for more food to supplement

Honestly, it was pretty bad. Paneer tikka that is neon in color (?) stuffed inside 2 pieces of dry bread, throw in some overly garlicky onions, and voila - here is your paneer tikka panini. I am calling their bluff - they know nothing about Indian food! All the food we tried was pretty bad - bland or old or just plain weird. I was here back in 2013 and then again now, things have clearly gone downhill for them. I am surprised they are still around after such bad food!

The not so good chocolate cake was just used as a prop last night at my friends birthday party. It had a peculiar smell to it and we could feel that it was not fresh and was not supposed to be eaten. If you knew it that its not fresh than you could have recommended us to buy a other flavor instead of chocolate. We drove from ellicott city avoiding many other indian bakery options bcoz we thought you guys are old in business but i think we should try the new options too

I can not recommend Hot Breads enough. My family has been eating there for at least 10 years ago. About 9 years ago, my husband and I found out they also make wedding cakes. After looking at samples and a cake tasting, we were sold! (We has them make our wedding cake for our wedding 8 1/2 years ago). The cakes are beautiful, much more affordable than most in the DC area, taste amazing (both the cake and buttercream frosting), and perhaps most importantly, can be made egg-free for my lacto-vegetarian husband (without sacrificing moistness). This year, I ordered my 2-year-old's birthday cake from them. It was also beautiful, yummy, and egg-free. From cakes to amazing Indian food (and great prices and friendly staff), we keep coming back! Also, the chaat is amazing! If you order nothing else, order this yummy Indian "street-food"!

I have been to multiple hot breads, this one is big and better. They have lot of options in bakery.the place was also very neat and clean, We ordered kothu paratha - 4.5/5 . This was just great. Then we ordered chilli chicken 2/5. No way it was chilli chicken, a big disappointment.

Had a great experience! I compared prices in the area, and they have good reasonable prices. We order a 2 tier cake, showed the baker a picture and he made it exactly like i wanted it. The flavors inside were amazingly delicious. I will definetly be back, and i would also recommend it to my friends.

This place is delicious! I am surprised I am just now finding out about this place. Ordered dosa and chaat. Both tasty. Chaat is very big portion and crispy. Dosa tasted fresh along with the sambaar. Butter chicken was also flavorful and spicy. They also have vegan deserts which is great. Tons of options to choose from with great flavor. One of the best indian food I have had in a while in the area. Will def. come back.

I come here often for fast and very good Indian food and for about the same cost as a regular fast food joint...The #1 samosa and #68 butter chicken with rice are highly recommended..The staff is almost always nice and patient, which is what the owner stresses.. Gobi is a very friendly guy who just wants to please his customers and is there almost everyday, which is an encouraging aspect to a small restaurant. Especially one in an expensive neighborhood...He is a very hard worker and it shows in way that I think matters..When I walk into an Indian restaurant and I see Indian people eating there then the food must be good.. The deserts are good and the cakes are healthy with many styles to choose from.. If your looking to watch some cricket and learn aspects of the game it's usually on, but he will have football on for Sundays..So if you wanta keep some money in your pocket and jus have a relaxing lunch or dinner this place is great. PS..if you and spouse or friend order the #68 take your sauces home and make some for a later time..Just throw a can of hunts diced tomato sauce with some chicken, onion and frozen peas and carrots... read more

My daughter and I went into this store for the 1st time on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in the evening, to see about ordering my military son a birthday and departure cake, he is active. We were treating with disrespect. Usually, when you enter an establishment you are asked, "How can I help you?" We got stares, and no friendly service(it was a young lady and a young man). So I asked, "Is this how they treat all their customers?" Then I asked for the owner or manager. He came and I told him what had just happened. He said, "He was sorry, but still didn't ask how can I help you. Being an Afro-American I;m displeased with prejudice people. I won't be back and of courses I'll tell family and friends to stay out of this store. I was so pissed-off being treated this way. Not only me, but my daughter also!! read more

My family and I have been coming here for ages for baked goods and now meals! The menu has changed and the food is always delicious. They can be very accommodating with baked goods we even got a sugar free cake ( with just fruit flavor) which tasted amazing! Drove from my family all the way from Elkridge for lunch because our recently found Indian friends were raving about it. Never been more disappointed by an Indian restaurant as I was by this place. Ordered the following: cupcake, vada paav, idli sambhaar and dabeli. Cupcake was too hard, sambhar was too (I take lot of salt in my food and so when I say salty you can figure out how much salt it was, told the cashier about it, he thanked me and said he will let them know but later on when I ordered dosa, no change in taste was noticed so they did not take my opinion into consideration), the vada tasted wierd (as if they had gone bad, but cant say if it was the chutney or the vada as this was my first time visiting them). I have tasted much much much better food in NJ and NY and in India and may be that's why maybe I did not like the taste. then we thought let's try something else, maybe everything is not as bad. so ordered veg manchurain, veg fried rice and dosa for my 5 yr old. dosa was nice, fried rice was disappointing to look at (no soy sauce or garlic in it considering it was indo-chinese which has these too ingradients, looked and tasted like plain rice with cabbage, and spring onion (somehow they thought adding cabbage and spring onion makes everything chinese :). Manchurain the quantity, size of the veg balls and the gravy (sauce) was unacceptable. do not understand the reason behind giving raw onion and green pepper with vada paav and manchurian. Then I ordered black forest cake (not been to India for almost 7 yrs I was craving one for a long time and it looked similar to what I eaten in India). The cake was soft and moist but did not taste anything like the ones I had tasted in India or in NJ. I am not saying it is a bad place. Ambience is good, people are nice. All I am saying is I have had better food at other places in MD (curry and kabob in columbia, flavors of India in columbia) and I did not think their food was great either but after tasting food at hot breads I will say they have better food. NY(tangra masala, Long Island) and NJ (Oak tree road, Edison) makes some great authentic Indian flavor food and compared to that restaurants in MD are peanuts. This is just to say that I am not too picky because I like the food if its nice and I do have recommendations about Indian restaurants in US but Hot Breads is definitely not one of them. I will think twice before going here again. Prices are not too reasonable either (given the quantity, quality and taste) read more

My husband and I recently purchased a wedding cake from this bakery for our wedding reception. We were incredibly disappointed by the appearance of the cake. It looked like a much more poorly decorated version of the cake we had chosen from the catalog of designs. The decoration on our cake made it appear as though the cake designs shown to customers are not of cakes the bakery have actually created, but of images from a catalog. When displaying cake designs to customers, they should be using images of cakes which they have actually created on their own so customers have an accurate idea of what the actual product will look like. While I am always an advocate of supporting Indian and South Asian owned establishments, I'm afraid I will no longer be patronizing this restaurant and will certainly advise friends and colleagues of the discrepancy between cake designs in the catalog and the actual product. read more

Firstly, this place smells and looks nothing like a bakery. I seems more like an indian restaurant moonlighting as a bakery. Never the less, I placed an order 2 weeks in advance to have 30 cupcakes and 1 small cake to be made for my son's birthday. On the day of pick-up, I arrived on right time to collect the cakes and I was told to give them 5 minutes more - I was already on tight schedule between collecting the cakes and getting to the party location. After about 15 mins, they brought my cakes out and they looked nothing like what they were supposed to look like. The frosting (which was supposed to be the faces of the characters from the kids TV show Yo Gabba Gabba) was sloppily done. Some faces were missing eyes, some where missing mouths and it looked like a 5 year old child did it in 5 mins. I was absoutely horrified! The cake was equally sloppy. The "Happy Birthday" on the cake was written very small and in awful handwriting - it was almost illegible. The design on the cake also looked nothing like what was discussed. For both the cupcakes and the cake, the icing was suppose to be fondant and I got whipped cream. And I ordered chocolate mousse cake and I got vanilla. This was absolutely horrible service! For the price I paid and the amount of time they had, this was unacceptable. I will never patronize this place again! read more

Established in 2005.

Hot Breads originated as French-themed Indian bakery with cross-over elements from both cultures. The idea was to give well-known French pastries an Indian twist by making puff pastries and rolls filled with spicy, savory Indian fillings. Additionally, to create a space where many people (be it those who observe a cultural/religious diet; are allergic to dairy or eggs; or observe halal diet) can enjoy food prepared in a clean kitchen. Our baked goods are prepared separately from the food menu. Ownership and menu changed over the years, but the mission of the business has remained the same: to prepare affordable, tasty, and fresh food for people and families.

Attended culinary school in Chennai, India. Took advanced training in Sugar techniques in Paris, France. Lived and cooked around the world; from the Middle East to Cruise Ships, from the far corners of Alaska to Panama. Been a chef for 25 years.

It's a little pricey in my book, but I suppose not overly so compared to many restaurants in the area. My go-to is the Paneer Makhani. Other favorites in the family are the Vegetable Samosa, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Makhani, and Malai Kofta Curry. We also usually order some Garlic Naan as well. The only real catch in my personal experience is the parking situation. It is not located adjacent to any of the surface parking lots in Kentlands, so you will be walking a little bit from somewhere. I don't enjoy walking or driving in Kentlands because people seem to lose their minds driving in there for some reason, so you have to be on the look-out all the time. There is technically street parking right next to the restaurant, but it's hyper competitive, I wish there was a spot or two saved for curbside/pick-ups. I went to pick-up dinner a little after 7 yesterday (a Thursday night) and circled so many times, that it ended up being faster to park over by the Michaels and make the cold walk over. At one point a car was parked diagonally the wrong way in one of the spots, as in they swooped in to take it from the wrong side of the road. So you can imagine how much those spots are left purely up to chance. TLDR/ tasty food; good for carry-out if you are prepared to walk a little or can bring someone to hop out and grab the food.

Went to this place as a casual dining place. I like to try different ,off the route spot, to find that hidden gems. The place wasn't decorated as a lavish restaurant but experience more than made up for it. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. Warning for the lite taste bud though. The food was spicy but had the right fun to it. Just enough to make it interesting enough but not much as to hide the aroma and tantalizing taste that is so unique to indian food. Read the previous reviews but I think its under new management and staff that really care about the customers and their opinion. Hard to find jewel like that nowadays. read more

I highly recommend this place. I love Indian food and this is my favorite place to go. I LOVE the CAKES from there. In a month I order 4 cakes because they are very DELICIOUS. They make cakes for any occasion (you pick your favorite Theme, they make it for you). I ordered a Bible cake for my niece 1st communion. I ordered a cake for my son; he loves soccer and they made the Barcelona logo on the cake. I ordered another cake- for a baby shower(Sailor) and the last cake I ordered was for a sweet 15th Birthday. I was looking for a nice Indian restaurant to have lunch with my family. My co-worker recommended me to go to Hot Breads he said that they just open a lunch buffet. I decided to take my family there and as soon as we enter the place we were attracted for a delicious smell we went to the buffet table and the food looked amazing. The price was a reasonable price we paid only 9 dollars for each person (ALL WE COULD EAT). At the end of our lunch we didn't feel like eating at a restaurant. It was like eating home. The staff is very friendly I highly recommend this place. They definitely will see us back for lunch again!!! read more

I couldn't find Dosa and Chaat on yelp but the server explained that Dosa and Chaat are partnered. So I read some of the reviews and went in with low expectation. But I live in the kentlands and wanted to find out for myself. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The server's who was very pleasant, suggested I try the lunch platter as it wpuld allow me to try several different curries. The food was outstanding!!!! The service very pleasant and fast. Aparently Hot Breads has been serving indian food for like 10 years and I nver knew they were an Indian resturant. This place is a hidden gem. The food and service were amazing. I asked about some of the dishes as I am a vegitarian and the chef came out and talked with me!!! He was clearly Indian and friendly. The name of this place is quite deceptive. It is a bakery however that is not all they have. They have a wide variety of Indian cuisine that is quite good. They staff is friendly and the food portion size is quite good. One of my favorite items on their menu is Sugar Cane Juice. It is made fresh right in front of you and is fantastic.
