I've been to several hot pots. Never quite got the hang of it, but this time I felt like it was easy and I knew what I was doing. The manager kept checking on us, they kept replacing our grill to make sure it was clean. The food was very good (compliments to the chef, me). I definitely recommend the Japanese Miso broth. I took my sister here for lunch to get a hearty meal in before she headed out to military boot camp the next day. I had previously tried the location in Newport News and had a positive experience. Unfortunately, this location did not provide a good experience. We quickly realized that the grill only heated up to 360 degrees and that the meat was cooking extremely slowly. I used to live in Korea and went to BBQ often. The meat NEVER cooked slow in Korea. At Hotpot 757, it took around 30 minutes to cook a single type of meat that should've cooked in minutes as it's thin cut. The waiter tried to explain to me that the they offer the hotpot because the grill cooks so slow. To make matters worse, we were harassed by two women who kept coming around and insisting that we change the grill top repeatedly to slow down the cooking process. In Korea, they don't change the grill top during your service. I ended up pouring my hotpot into my sister's pot so that we could actually cook some meat on the convection top to speed things up. I would not recommend coming here as the staff is obviously more focused on saving money by slowing the cooking on the all you can eat bbq than on having a positive customer experience. I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for over two years, bringing my family here more than 20 times, but after my most recent experience, I am absolutely heartbroken and outraged by how we were treated. While enjoying a meal with my sister and three nephews, my 2-year-old nephew was sitting next to my sister when her keys fell to the ground. As he tried to pick them up, we quickly noticed that he was soaked with bleach his hands and legs were covered in it, and there were visible puddles of bleach on the floor where he had walked. We realized the he ingested the chemicals. My immediate concern was for my nephew's safety. We rushed to clean him up, give him water, and assess the situation. When we spoke to the manager about the hazardous situation, his response was defensive and deeply troubling. Rather than showing any empathy or concern for the child who had just been exposed to bleach, he immediately became confrontational. He dismissed our concerns and said, "We're not used to babies walking around," as if that was somehow an explanation for why there were hazardous chemicals left on the floor. His response was cold and inconsiderate; he told my sister to just take the baby to the bathroom to clean him up and refused to take any responsibility for the bleach being on the floor. He even went so far as to assume we were trying to get a free meal, which could not have been further from our intent. (We paid for our meals and gave our server a large tip) We were simply trying to ensure our baby was okay and that this incident was addressed. Our server, thankfully, was kind and tried to help, but the manager's attitude was dismissive. He walked away without any real apology or solution, just saying, "Have a good day," which was completely unacceptable. By the time we left, my nephew began vomiting in the car in the parking lot, and we were forced to contact poison control and the police to ensure his safety. We were terrified and shaken by the entire ordeal, and while we are grateful that he is okay, we are still deeply concerned about how this situation was handled. The manager's complete lack of accountability and compassion for a child who had just been exposed to a dangerous substance was appalling. To be treated with such indifference after being loyal customers for so long is simply unforgivable. I am devastated that a restaurant I've trusted for so long would treat my family with such disregard, especially when it comes to the safety and well-being of a child. I can only hope they take this seriously and ensure that no other family has to endure such a terrifying experience. Sad to say, but we will never be returning! read more

I decided to check out Hotpot 757 with some friends when I recently visited the Hampton roads area. I was shopping with some friends if we wanted to try something new. One of my friends suggested we try a Korean barbecue place. We searched the local area and found Hot Pot 757. I discovered that you can set a reservation using Yelp. To avoid the dinner rush, we decided to eat around 4 PM. When we got to the location, we were greeted by some very friendly hostesses. The lobby of the place was decorated with Christmas trees and various Asian decor. The time we went wasn't too busy so we were able to be seated almost immediately. This was our first time ever trying Korean barbecue so we were a little lost. The waitress came by to take our drink orders, but she was also incredibly patient and explained the entire process to us. This location offered hot pots as well as Korean barbecue options. She further explained that you could do a combination of hot pot and Korean barbecue. All you can eat. My friends and I decided to go towards the Korean barbecue route, since we did not want to get too full. The meat options were plentiful and there was lots to choose from. They had different beef, pork, chicken, and seafood options. They also had options for different vegetables that they could bring for you to prepare on the grill. The waitress took our order and told us to explore the sauce bar, which was a place where you can get a combination of various sauces from sweet and spicy to traditional Asian to steak sauce, and everything in between. There was a recipe board in the middle of the sauce that allows you to be able to mix and match different types of seasonings for you to create a dish that suited your pallet most efficiently. When they started bringing out the meat, everything came out raw and ready to hit the grill. We the waitress gave us the suggestion that we not crowd the grill because it would take a very long time for anything to cook properly. So we cooked in phases. It was fun to see how you could take your favorite dish and cook it on the grill. I would say make sure that you are patient in this process because if you're hungry, it seems to take a while for the food to be finished but that was just our stomach talking. When you come to hot pot for the first time, there is a bit of a learning curve. But after your first time, you should know what you like, and how to order. There are hot pots, which is basically make your own pho, then there's barbecue that you grill yourself right at your table. Which ever you order, it's all you can eat, and they'll bring you whatever you want to make in your hot pot or on the grill. All of the ingredients are super fresh, and they have a very wide variety. I found all of the seafood to be good, but I found all of the beef to be gristly and chewy. I wouldn't get the beef again, but I would definitely get any seafood and chicken. I don't think we tried any pork other than the pork dumplings, which were good. The meats were seasoned and marinated exceptionally well. Lots and lots of great, delicious flavor. The bar is basically all sauces and a few fruits. I don't think I would ever come here again for the hot pot (because of the price), but I would definitely come again for the barbecue now that I know what I'm doing. I love KBBQ and hot pot and my BF has never been so I figured we should try it. Granted, I am comparing this to LA and NoVA hotpot places so I should lower my expectations slightly. I was surprised that we came around 6:30 on a Saturday night and were able to seat us right away. This place is huge, there are multiple rooms to the main dining section and a private room that is perfect for big groups. The tables are massive so if you are seated across from one another, be prepared for limited conversation or basically to be speaking very loud to one another to account for the noise in the room. That is to be expected for this type of food, but something to note if you are catching up with someone. There is a buffet in the middle where you can make your own sauces and they have signage with their suggestions. They had plenty of different options that rivaled what I was used to in other places. Next to it are the basics like seaweed salad and two types of kimchi and the dessert section. As usual, these are lackluster and we ended up skipping the sides. I'm used the iPad ordering where you do not need to interact as much or more attentive service. We knew the basics that we wanted so did a big order right away. Maybe that was on us, but we didn't have any tongs to cook or chopsticks or spoons so had to flag down two people and go back to the service station to get what we needed. We ran out of water multiple times as well during the meal. The food overall was good for an AYCE place. The portions are small so make sure to order at least two if not more servings of everything to make sure you are not constantly running out of what you need. We did the Chinese herbal broth and added our own sauces to the broth. Overall the food was good, but the price was a little high for what I have come to expect from this type of place. Decided to finally check out 757 hot pot to see what all the hype was about. Pulling into the parking lot I noticed broken glass everywhere. Nearly every space had broken glass in it. Just be careful when parking. We were quoted a 30 minute wait as we showed up in the middle of the dinner rush but it went by pretty fast. I've never done hot pot before and would've loved a little tutorial on best tips and tricks but our waiter was in a hurry. He came to the table and starting pressing us to order. We randomly choose a few things to start with and he quickly jotted off to get our initial order placed. They have a cold bar with salads, herbs, fruits and sauces. You can add whatever items from the cold bar you want to enhance your bbq and/ or hot pot experience. The staff does a great job at keeping the cold bar stocked and cleaned. The only utensil we were given to eat with was the hot pot ladle. We tried asking for a spoon and our waiter was like nope we don't have those. After looking at other tables we saw they had chop sticks and were finally able to get a few sets of those from our waiter. Overall I liked hot pot but I would caution hot pot newbies to do a little research on your own before coming here because they aren't going to go out of there way to get you up to speed on things. read more

This is really a 2.5 star place. Here's why: Food quality is meh...the best items were the veggies and the bonchon (sides from the bar). My husband likens it to his time in the military where they would have packaging marked 'grade D but edible.' The meat was sinewy and tough and to be honest, flavorless. The broths (Thai Tom Yum and sichuan broth) were okay. The Tom yum had a weird chemical flavor. We did one round of meats and veg and were done. It was a waste of money for us. The cucumbers and kimchi were good, seaweed salad good and the different options for sauces was nice. Our server was attentive and super friendly. Came here for the Korean BBQ, it was $34 per person(2 hr limit). One of our waters ended up having a fly in it, after pointing it out the waitress immediately got us a new one and apologized. I got a variety of the meats to try. The bulogi beef had a weird rubbery taste to it. Most of the beef meats was a bit of a let down(except the short rib), I think the quality was lacking. The best items were the beef short rib, garlic shrimp,and pork. The pork was seasoned well and tasted amazing once cooked and crispy. The grill was slow to cook the meat, it ended taking about 20minutes+ to get the pork cook through. Staff was very nice here. For what you pay for, I wish the quality was a lot better. Overall a little disappointed with the kbbq here, but this is one of the two options for kbbq in the area. I've been dying to go to Hot Pot 757 since it opened in the summer. My parents came into town to visit from N. VA and we walked in around 2 ish 3 ish, we were shocked when they told us the wait was 90 minutes. Needless to say we didn't wait. I would say ambience reminds me of some N.VA Hot Pot/Korean BBQ spots. Very open and large area to host many large/small groups. The aromas of the soup and the Korean BBQ was amazing. Finally had a chance to go late November with some girlfriends. It definitely did not disappoint. It totally satisfied my craving for Asian. We did have to wait for well over an hour, but we had some warm sake by the bar which was super enjoyable. Warm sake is much better than cold sake! As far as the cost, having tried many places in N.VA this was a great deal. It was only $32.99/person for hot pot and Korean bbq technically only $4 more for both! N. VA typically starts at $35/person, just for Hot Pot. There was an abundance of options for both Hot Pot and Korean BBQ... For Hot Pot, we tried the Pig Bone Style, Beef Butter Style and the Szechuan Spicy Style. Hands down the Szechuan Spicy Style was by far the most flavorful. It was spicy, but I thought it could've been spicier. Plus when they refilled the soup pot with just broth the flavor pretty much disappeared. Definitely provided a lot of different meat, vegetable and noodle options. There was also a sauce/salad bar so you can make your own sauce. I'm a big fan of Chinese bbq sauce, chili peppers, cilantro, green onion and soy sauce. The house sauce was pretty tasty too. I would say I have had better and spicier Szechuan broths in N.VA, even the Chinese BBQ sauce is a smidge better regardless hot pot was still on point. For Korean BBQ, we all absolutely loved the marinated meats, the galbi, spicy pork, spicy pork belly etc. There were some meats that we wished were marinated, such as frog legs, that would've been better grilled in marinade. I'm excited to go back, and I would definitely stick with the Szechuan Broth and get some marinated meats for Korean bbq. The service was above and beyond - we were checked on by multiple people the entire time. The pricing is reasonable: $28 for hot pot, $29 for kbbq, or $33 for both. Each booth had 4 hot pot stoves and 1 bbq. They also had a sauces and sides bar. The sides included lettuce, chicken feet, spicy cucumber salad, kimchi, seaweed salad, and fruit. They had an awesome sauce selection, far too many to name. I chose teriyaki sauce and added green onions. The kbbq was fantastic. We tried the spicy beef bulgogi, short ribs, New York strip, steak with house sauce, pork belly, and garlic shrimp. We also got strawberry soju and sides of rice. Excited this place is finally open! I came here for a friend's birthday dinner and waited about a hour and a half. They don't take reservations on weekend, so be prepared to wait a long time! It's a very popular place already and with the food being as good as they are, expect it to only grow more popular over time. Especially since there aren't any other all-you-can-eat ones around. The seating teams, at least the booth ones, were awesome because it came with multiple heating pads for the hot pot. Only one grilling at the center for the Korean BBQ, which is a bit of a nuisance for bigger parties. There are 3 styles you can go with: hot pot, Korean BBQ, or both. My fiance chose to go with the Korean BBQ and I went with the hot pot. For the hot pot, you can choose from over 5 different broths to choose from. I went with the Thai Tom Yum broth. There is a huge selection of meats, vegetables, seafood and types of noodles to choose from. You're bound to find a combination of ingredients to like. I liked my Tom Yum broth, but it wasn't as spicy as expected and a little on the bland side of things. For the Korean BBQ though, no complaints. Tons of different meats to choose from again and each were perfectly seasoned for your grilling pleasure. The only one that he wasn't a huge fan of was the spicy chicken because it wasn't spicy and the chicken was a bit bland - nothing some dipping sauce can't fix though! Lastly, there's a salad bar that you can get an unlimited amount of sides for. Kimchi, seaweed salad, lettuce, sauces and much more. My one gripe is that the kimchi is far from the best I've had. It wasn't spicy or sour, but more bitter. Overall, I'd say this is a fantastic addition to RVA, especially since it's the first of it's kind here. Price is fair for how much you can eat (unlimited). I came here with 9 others on Friday for lunch. Since we arrived right after they opened at 12 PM, we were able to be seated ASAP. The long wait might be reserved for dinner time or on the weekends. It's $27.99 for 2 hours of AYCE, and this restaurant is well loved by my Richmond friends. Immediately, we all went to the buffet bar to make our sauce concoctions. There's a lot of different options and you'll definitely find something you want. My go-to is the sesame sauce with lots of garlic and green onion. I also saw that there was seaweed salad and kimchi for grabs, so of course I had to get a head start on vegetables. Overall, I didn't think my sauce was very savory; the consistency was good but found it too bland to be used well. I thought the kimchi was aggressively average (no oomph, just boring) but the seaweed salad was quite tasty. I got the PIG BONESTYLE broth which I found to be pretty bland. There were hints of flavor, but not enough to elevate the food I was boiling it in. A lot of my friends liked the BEEF BUTTER STYLE broth, which is spicy!! I would have gotten it otherwise. Beyond the broth, there's a variety of things you can order and try. I'd definitely recommend going with a group of 4-5 so you guys can all try all the meats, veggies, and others! They even have frog legs here! Overall, I found the meat to be pretty average. At most hot pot places, meat isn't tough when I overcook them. However, at Hot Pot 757, I would recommend keeping an eye out for your meat and cook them for 10-15 seconds and take it out. Otherwise, a bunch clump up together and at that point, you're not able to distinguish what kind of meat it even is. I didn't like the lobster balls here, the taste felt off to me. A list of things I did enjoy eating and would recommend: beef tongue, sliced rib eye, quail eggs, fish cakes, fish ball with fish roe, bokchoy, enoki mushrooms, napa, oyster mushroom, fried fish tofu, fried tofu skin, and beancurd stick. It was pretty busy for a Thursday but we were seated really quickly. You have a choice between hot pot, bbq, or both. Every one in your party has to get the same comb (every one has to do hot pot, Korean bbq, or both). The service was top tier! The waitress had a sizable section, but got our drinks and order in fast. There is a sauce bar with some small sections of fruit and pickled veggies...they even had chicken feet. You create your own sauce mix at the sauce bar. They give you suggestions on what sauce to create, but with no ratios. I wish they had some pre-made korean bbq sauces already made for those who aren't quite familiar. Meat Quality: I've been to a few K-BBQs in larger cities. The meat quality wasn't the best at Hot Pot 757 aside from the pork belly and pork bulgogi. The beef meats were very chewy, and we made sure it wasn't due to over cooking. Had a very hard time chewing. Sausages and pork meats were the saving grace They were attentive to switching out the grill for a clean one, which I liked. It didn't take long for additional orders of meat. Overall: I would try again for the hotpot next time. The meat quality def needs some attention. Overall, Very fun and interactive dinner idea for a group. FYI: The hotpot seemed more vegan/vegetarian friendly. There is a large selection of veggies and soy products available. read more

-1 Any BBQ meat except for Chicken was very chewy!! The ambiance is great, very fast service and everything feels clean. I will say that I did not see that many people cleaning/restocking the sauce bar during the times I'm there. The price is right for the amount of food you can order. I went to hot pot 757 with my bestie and it was her birthday and the waitress sung happy birthday and there is an all you can eat seafood boil and the drinks are delicious and so is the dessert they have boba some people like it and some don't but there are other options but in my opinion brown sugar boba is best! read more
