Came here on a hot day for spicy fish. AC was on pretty strong so I could enjoy my spicy food without sweating. The waitress was nice and attentive to us contrary to some of the reviews here saying the service here is bad. We ordered a spicy grilled fish (forgot which kind we picked) and ChongQing spicy beef dish. For the grilled fish, we also added some veggies. It comes in a metal stove top thing so the fish stays hot. The portions for this place is pretty generous and the price isn't bad. The flavors were good but not as spicy as I'd like even though you can adjust to your palate. You can also ordered spicy mala pot in the front and select your ingredients. I've ordered this for takeout and while it is more expensive than the spot I usually order from, I do think the taste is better. They fry most of the ingredients before stir frying in spice so there is more depth to its flavors. Price is by weight. I notice they also have snail noodles on the menu, which is the first time I've seen restaurants with this dish on the menu. Im interested in trying this next time.

Mala cravings satisfied! Eat it while it's still piping hot. You'll be happy even when the sweat is rolling down your face and your lips are numbing from the spice. Options for dry pots by the pound, stews, and glass noodle soups. Call by phone ahead of time, they tend to get busier with many take out orders.

The service was pretty good. The server didn't really speak English and unfortunately I don't speak mandarin, but we had a positive interaction nonetheless. We did not have a hard time conversing as I was able to understand mandarin and respond in English, while she was able to understand English and respond in mandarin. Once you want in, you need to walk to the front to let the employee know if you will be sitting in or ordering to go. If you decide to sit in, you are able to select your own booth as she grabs you a menu. She will bring you the menu to check off what you would like. If you want to get a drink, it's easier to ask when she is there or go up to the front and grab it from the fridge, or ask her to grab it for you if she is at the front. They don't check up on you too often, which I prefer, and if you ever need anything you can raise your hand or go to the front. The food was okay. The sweet and sour beef wasn't that great. It's mildly spicy, but when you eat a fish tofu (the ones that soak up water), the spice just hits you as you bite down on the fish tofu and it is spicyyyyyyy and very sour. But if you're just eating the beef and drinking some of the soup it isn't that bad. I thought it would taste something similar to sweet and sour pork, or sweet and sour chicken, but it was so different. Hardy comparable. And it is way more sour than sweet, so if you don't like sour foods, don't try it! Also pretty sure it gave me an uncomfortable stomach for a couple days The spicy seafood noodles, beef noodles, and beef skewers were good! Pretty typical and what I expected. Tl;dr - their noodle dishes and skewers and good. Their sweet and sour beef was not it.

I have been craving for Szechuan Mala Xiang Guo. This place fixed my craving very well. You basically just walk to the counter and choose meats, seafoods and veggies. They will weigh and ask your prefer spicy level. The food came out quick and delicious. Me and my cousin had a great dinner.

Our Dry hotpot. Right on point.

The spiciest, numbing dish we got was probably the spicy hot pot. The vegetables were delicious, like the water spinach, pea shoots, and garlic smashed cucumbers. The sour fish soup wasn't overly acidic like other places. Portions are large and great for sharing family style. A dish that I haven't seen at other restaurants is salted egg yolk tofu. It was very good here.

The pork with garlic sauce was absolutely delicious. This one isn't spicy so it didn't numb the mouth. The mapo tofu was also delicious and a little spicier but still not numbing the mouth. Def better to have it with rice though. The green pepper fish was mouth numbing and honestly I couldn't taste much of the flavor because the combination of spice and the hot temperature of the food was overbearing for me. So if you're like me and can tolerate some spicy but not numbing spicy then I would recommend telling them less spicy. Portions were perfect for 5 people (3 males and 2 females) as we ordered 2 of the pork with garlic sauce, 2 mapo tofus, and 1 big green pepper fish dish. We went on a Saturday at 5:30pm so it wasn't too crowded. Overall delicious and the staff were all friendly and very attentive in filling up our water for our spicy meal. (mapo tofu not shown as we were too hungry)

I next just got a regular lychee martini, which was much less sweet & a perfect drink #2 - we started with the pork dumplings which had such a complex sauce. it looked like a basic chili oil but there was a tangy vinegar and a sweet aftertaste that balanced out the numbing spice. the dough was so chewy & thick, I loved. - the cold eggplant was very garlic forward & naturally ofc coated in spice. it's a large serving of the same vegetable but we ate every piece - we split the tofu & fish entree. this was insane, the same base and consistency as mapo tofu. incredibly rich and flavorful with light large chunks of silken tofu & battered fried soft fish. the fish absorbed so much of the sauce, which honestly I was eating by the spoonful.

The mapo tofu, green beans, twice cooked pork, and spicy (lazi) chicken were very flavorful. I thought the mala levels were just right, but it may be on a bit on the lighter side compared to authentic. They don't take online reservations for groups over 5, so we called to make one for our group of 6. It was pretty busy Friday night, so would recommend. The service was great; they drew the cutest card when they found out it was my brother's birthday and let us bring a cake. And they also offered hair ties to the people with long hair. I wish the sauce was sweeter though since the flavor was more j spicy/ salty. I think a different sauce like a hoisin chili combo would make the dish a lot tastier. They have a variety of sichuan dishes. I wasn't a huge fan of the swing pork belly since it's served cold and mostly tastes like cucumber- it was lacking flavor for me even with the red sauce/oil. The sour cabbage beef soup was interesting! It tasted nice and beefy, but was a bit too sour for me. The lemon dessert was my favorite! It was a cheesecake mousse with lemon curd in the middle~ so pretty and tasty! Service was top tier! I'd recommend coming here for the vibes!

We ordered the fried eggplant accordion which was tender on the inside with a crisp exterior. I don't think I was a fan of the sweet-sour sauce though (just my preference) as it seemed sweeter than I'd like. Service was prompt enough. Plenty of seating but busy and popular nonetheless. I'd try it again and if I wasn't a wimp with spicy food I'm sure heat-adventurers would enjoy this! My FAVORITE was the Dan Dan noodles. I highly recommend this one. Can't go wrong. The sauce blended evenly with the thin noodles. It was less "greasy" than previous Dan Dan noodles I've had elsewhere.

The food is why we are all here and this place did not miss! We sat at the bar because we didn't have a reservation and it was a Sunday night. The only other place I've had soup dumplings as good is in flushing - that's high praise from this queens girl. Next up we ordered the scallion pancakes - which ruined all other scallion pancakes for me. They were ultra crispy and flaky. The dipping sauce was deeply flavorful and the portion was perfect. We also ordered the chicken wantons that came in a chili crisp oil and peanut sauce, delicious. The pork noodles were the secret star because the description was pretty straight forward. But my partner is a chef and insisted we get them. They were some of the best noodles I've ever had. Definitely made in house and they were coated in a flavorful sauce. The crispy garlic chicken was so good that I had to take it to go because we were stuffed, still amazing the next day. Food was decent and there are a lot of options on the menu. Would I come here again? Maybe to try their rice dishes after reading other reviews, but I wouldn't come back for the tomato based hot pot. Ambiance 3/5: A little chaotic. A lot of kids (middle or high schoolers) probably because of the cheaper prices and according to other reviews a discount with student ID. Another large party came in and started moving tables around and people that appeared to be regulars seated themselves. Service 4/5: We were seated immediately at a table for 2 on a Saturday afternoon. Food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. It became busier towards the end of our lunch and it was hard flagging someone to bring us a check. Food 4/5: Decent. Main selling point is its affordability. I regret not looking at other reviews before coming here as people say their rice dishes are pretty good. We got their pre-made tomato hot pot soup base, GF got the original soup base, and some stir fried potatoes. - Tomato hot pot 3/5: I did like this at first. Not sure if the saltiness of our appetizer overpowered the flavors of the soup but it started to taste too sweet (kind of like ketchup?). Slightly disappointed at that. I tried the original soup base and like it more so probably pick another base if you come here. No complaints about the ingredients you get to add though, those were delicious. I chose Udon, fatty beef, fish filet, honeycomb tripe, and enoki mushrooms. - Stir fried potatoes 4/5: They look like fries but they're not crispy. Very flavorful though; salty and spicy.
