I wasn't too happy with my stay here. It's a nice building, good location, and friendly staff, but there were a few things that made my stay unsatisfactory. The first issue being that the entire hallway leading to my room reeked of cigarettes (both days we were there). This is gross and frustrating to encounter in 2026. The second issue being that the pillows in the room were overly squishy and offered no support. I called the guest services number at 2am asking if they had firmer pillows. The woman on the phone said they have foam and feather pillows. I requested two foam pillows be brought to my room. I was pretty surprised when they brought pillows that were as squishy as the feather pillows already in the room. Definitely bring your own pillow if you prefer supportive pillows! When I checked out no one asked me how my stay was or anything along those lines. Disappointed. read more

I booked here to be close to Wrigley since I have elderly parents and we needed a close place to regroup before the game so I paid a premium for a room - and the cheapest room came with a view of the park. Great, right? The photo on the Bonvoy site had a nice view of Wrigley and the view of the room they first gave me... did not. Very misleading so I asked for a better room and got it. I understand that this is 'the game' that you have to play sometimes but was disappointed given that I'm Gold Elite and usually this sort of game isn't played. The view *was* great - nice view of the park - you can even see the ivy, and of course you can see Gallagher Park which is a multi-use space next to Wrigley where player statues are. However, the soundproofing of this hotel is abysmal and they should supply earplugs and eye masks. There's a gap between the blackout curtains and the top of the window so there was a thin but bright light coming through as the sun came up. And then there was the 7am workout class. 7am ON THE DOT I heard crazy loud dance music and sure enough I peeked out and saw a class in the park. Listen, I know it's a city and sounds are going to happen but this was so loud that the hotel could - and should - take steps to mitigate the inconvenience of being awakened by a fitness class at 7am. Otherwise, hotel is fine. You're paying for the location - and you get it. Not for biz travelers. Good for families and folks traveling with pets. Room layout is practical - lots of plugs next to bed and by the desk - with included iron and ironing board, safe, robe, and slippers. No lotion in bathroom but shampoo/conditioner/body wash in shower, and soap by sink. What you'd expect (but the lack of lotion was weird). Breakfast buffet is also fine - $26 for cereal, fruit, pastries, scrambled eggs, pancakes, etc. Nothing extraordinary but the space is gorgeous and also has an outdoor area if you want to look at the park while you eat. Hotel could really shine by adding bedside earplugs and eye masks, making it more explicit upon check-in that you need to request a coffee maker or fridge in your room, and improve the light seepage on those blackout curtains. These all are easy - and thoughtful - fixes. read more

I generally look for hotels with excellent shower pressure, lots of hot water, and plenty of amenities around the area...This place has it all! We came by for a stay of a couple of nights, we seemed to be the only couple who wasn't there for the Cubs game. Obviously with a location directly across the street from Wrigley Field, most visitors seem to be there for the game. We did do a tour of the stadium which was nice, but skipped out on the full nine inning experience. The hotel itself has plenty of friendly staff, most of the amenities you could need, and a lot of action all around the area with lots of restaurants and activities, along with easy access to the train station. It's a modern hotel in the Marriott Bonvoy family, and while I wouldn't call the rooms overly spacious, they were roomy enough for a couple. There are a few items of note, 1. If you want a mini fridge in the room, you'll have to either upgrade to a suite or request one in advance. 2. Also, the parking is quite expensive - we used valet parking at $80 per night. 3. If you want to pull up directly in front of the hotel, the standard Google map directions don't take you there, Google takes you straight to the garage entrance which is around the back of the hotel. 4. There's a fire station and a police station nearby, so there was some siren activity at night, which could be heard in the rooms. It didn't bother us too much. As a business traveler, I'd likely be staying in a downtown hotel if doing business downtown - this location is really ideal for Wrigleyville and the northern areas. Overall however, this was a five-star experience, and I'd certainly look to stay there again if I was ever visiting the stadium area. read more

If you asked me if I wanted to stay in an upscale boutique hotel that faced Wrigley Field during baseball season, I would've given you such a case of small-mouth. However, Jamie W. went ahead and booked us a Queen room here for three nights for $440 per night (without tax), and frankly it turned out just fine. Although the hotel was full of zealous Cubs fans, we managed to avoid them for at least two nights. We had a lead-footed marcher above us the first night. The front desk was quite responsive and moved us to another room for the rest of our stay. No further marching heard. The rooms were quiet otherwise as well as spacious. The bed felt pretty comfortable, and the bathroom was well maintained. The only drawback was that there wasn't a mini-fridge, so there was no place to store our leftovers from all the great Chicago food we were going to eat. All the social activity appeared to be happening on the second floor where a full den of Cub fans dominated the expansive lounge. We slipped by and either walked over to boisterous Boystown (about 15 minutes) or took the local bus up to more gentrified Andersonville (20 minutes on a good night). If you're a Cubs fan you have to make it a point to stay here at least once. The proximity to Wrigley Field, being able to overlook Gallagher Way, and be right in the heart of everything on game days is an incredible experience. Hotel Zachary put so much thought into the details from the art, soap, table books in the room and even a welcome gift of none other than Garrett's popcorn. The stay is by no means a cheap expense, but the experience was well worth it. There are only two things that would have made it better. The first is access to a fridge in the room, rather than just the ice bucket. We stopped by a craft fair and got a free canned coffee beverage that would've done better in a fridge. The second piece would be allowing/encouraging breakfast on the patio. We were fortunate to be there on a beautiful day, but were informed there was no service outside so the only option would've been staying inside missing out on the up front view of Wrigley. read more

The cleaning staff was amazing that's why I gave it a 3. I booked a king bed room and the beds are not king sized. They are fake hotel king and are like sleeping on concrete. When I brought it up they informed me kind of rudeky at the front desk, "they had the paper work" so this must be a common issue. The walls in the room are kind of thin too and you can hear your neighbor or people outside your door. Nice visual hotel but not very comfortable. read more

We ended up booking the Hotel Zachary after a bit of a hotels.com fiasco with a different hotel. I'm so glad we did because this hotel was really nice! It's right across from Wrigley Field and has a bespoke feel. The lobby is on the second level where there's a bar and plenty of space to work or relax. When we checked in, they let us know that they upgraded us to the stadium view, which was fun! Definitely not something I'd pay for normally, but a nice surprise. Since we were there in the off season (aka not baseball season), it was quiet and not at all crowded. We only stayed one night, but the beds were super comfortable and the double queen room was really large. There was no fridge in the room, also no coffee maker but you could take your key down to the bakery/coffee shop for a free cup of coffee in the morning. We didn't do this but it's a nice touch for guests, although I'm sure many people would prefer an in-room coffee maker. We were going to a concert at the Metro, so it was nice to be in walking distance. There are lots of restaurants and bars in this immediate area that we had fun checking out. We reserved a parking spot on SpotHero nearby for way less than the price of valet parking (valet at the hotel is $75 per night). The hotel is a Marriott and is pet-friendly. read more

Kelly and I stayed at the Hotel Zachary for a weekend in the off season (February) as a base for Kelly's birthday staycation. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and if you want to soak in a Chicago neighborhood, whether visiting for a Cubs game or in the off season, the Zachary is a great choice with merely a few drawbacks. On the plus side, the hotel bar and lobby is gorgeous and huge, with large community tables to get work done during the day and comfortable chairs and chaise longues for reading and cocktailing. At night the bar slings high end expertly crafted cocktails and has DJ's playing various genres of music. There is also a pool table for gaming. Its a lovely vibe. The rooms are good sized but the beds are bit firmer than I'd like. For accessibility, overall the hotel is great, but one of the rooms with a roll in shower is at the very end of the hallway, which is a long hike over thick carpeting. An odd choice, I thought. However, one clever installment to the roll in shower was a one inch high rubber barrier on the floor that guards against water flowing everywhere while allowing a wheelchair to easily roll over it. Bravo! Service is very friendly. For dining, there are several casual restaurants in the hotel building - I especially recommend Big Star for Tacos, Smoke Daddy for BBQ, and Mordecai for cocktails and elevated fare. Why the hotel was not designed to provide for direct entry into most of them is beyond me - huge miss! With the exception of Mordecai, you'll need to walk outside to try them. One final quibble is that the Zachary has no high end restaurant. To be fair, that is somewhat out of the Hotel's control - the Swift & Sons restaurant on the corner was initially intended to be a high end steakhouse like its sister original. However, apparently the neighborhood could not sustain such fancy fare, and it was downgraded to an overpriced tavern that should be avoided. If you desire a more sophisticated dining experience during your stay, taxis or ride shares can take you to any of Chicago's finer establishments in the adjacent neighborhoods. read more

In Chicago this week and had to change hotels a few times, the Zachary was the best one. Cool vibe. Literally right across the street from Wrigley Field. You enter from the street and take the elevator to the 2nd floor. In the lobby there are two great options for food. One coffee shop and one bar. Both A+. Highly recommend the coffee shop didn't try the bar but looked cool. The hotel is swanky and the rooms are comfy. A few things are keeping it from being 5 stars for me. The lighting in the rooms are dim dim dim - like you can't see a thing dim, the pillows are flat (my neck still hurts), and there is no mini refrigerator or any water in the room. The last thing only matters if you're there for more than a day, but I was surprised there wasn't one. There is a CVS right there which is nice. About a 30 minute drive to O'Hare on a Saturday morning, so plan ahead. read more

Nice hotel but three months later, it is really bothering me that I got scammed into breakfast. I go to Chicago to eat at restaurants I've been researching the last 10 years. The lady at check in said that I can have breakfast over there 'specified area (bar area)'. Since the made it seem like it was free and I just needed something to hold me over until the restaurant I planned to eat at opened. I grabbed was Two sausages and about half an egg. They slapped down a $29 bill for this. They made the breakfast seem like it was free. Talk about PISSED OFF and I am STILL PISSED OFF three months later. Stay away from this tourist trap. Outside of the location, there is ZERO to like about it. The rooms are sparse and small. They did construction work in the room above mine at 8 am. It sounded like they were rolling bowling balls across the floor. Room service did not visit my room once on the two occasions I stayed there. But worst of all is the cost. The last time I was there on a Tuesday-Thursday in late-May, it cost me $1,797.66 for two nights. That is highway robbery. I could have stayed at an AirBNB for 1/4 that cost. Even if you are just pretending you could afford to stay here, drop in and have a drink, excuse me, a cocktail in the bar upstairs. That's what we did after a recent Cubs game. There's an open-air balcony with a great view of Wrigley Field across the street and lots of comfy seating on sofas inside, also with good views of the ballpark. Drink menu had something for almost everyone, i.e. don't ask for frozen LOL - server said it's not a tiki bar! There is a beautiful mural of the original Wrigley Field on the wall, a nod to the hotel's namesake and the ballpark's 1914 architect, Zachary Taylor Davis. A visit is part of a full Wrigleyville experience. Staff was warm and welcoming and our-quick-with-a-quip server was friendly and fun! read more

We stayed at the Hotel Zachary, a new boutique hotel across from Wrigley Field in Chicago. This property was named for the architect of Wrigley. Each room is filled with Wrigley memorabilia. Too bad no games this weekend. Travel & Leisure rated it as one of the top 12 new hotels in the country. And I would certainly agree with that recognition! It is part of the Tribute chain, having been open for two years. I love that I can use Marriott Bonvoy points to stay here. When I arrived, I was given a spacious suite. Unfortunately, it didn't face the stadium. It was also a special needs room, which meant when I took my shower, I nearly flooded the bathroom. So as we were ready to depart for dinner, I called the front desk to find another room. Devante told me that was no problem. We moved to a smaller room with a fabulous view of the stadium, a balcony and a glass shower big enough to hold a party in. Devante sent a bottle of wine and some chocolates, plus a handwritten note welcoming us to our new room. That was first class! read more

We were in town for a Dodgers vs. Cubs game - and when we found out that there was a hotel right across the street from Wrigley Field, there was no other choice for us! We paid extra for a room that looked right into the park. Seriously, we could see home plate from our room! The staff was friendly, the room was spacious and amenities all on point. There's a nice coffee shop on the ground floor that will give you a complimentary cup in the mornings if you're a hotel guest - a nice touch! We had drinks in the lobby bar one night, too. Nice aesthetics there including a cool billiards room. Staying in Wrigleyville isn't recommended if you're planning to spend time downtown, but if you're in town for a game - this is the spot for you! read more

From the valet staff to check-in the staff is very accommodating. Room 522 overlooks Wrigley - no game so not noisy. Great view. I could see the ice skating rink. The continental breakfast was enough food for me - coffee, fresh fruit bowl and English muffin with jam. If I wanted to I'd the buffet I could have gotten a $10 discount. The room was very spacious and the chair next to the bed was very comfy. You have to try the robes and slippers! They are the best! My son bought them he liked them so much. Five Stars read more

The signature scent in the lobby is awesome. Very welcoming. The day I had arrived, they were decorating for Christmas - a bit early, nonetheless, tastefully done. The rooms are nice, spacious and very clean. The ceilings on the fourth floor, where my room was located, were extra high. The bed was comfortable, the shower large. The best part of the room was the view, and what a grand view of Wrigley Field it was. Top notch. read more

As we were coming out of the Cubs game, a friend txt saying to swing by Zachary's which turned out to be the BEST idea ever! We stayed for a round of drinks just long enough to escape the mass crowds of fans leaving the area post-game. Take my advice here and do the same! Honestly this is way more than a hotel. It's an upscale lounge that invites sophistication to an otherwise tawdry street of watering holes around the ballpark and clearly a locals scene in the upstairs lounge and patio. Kudos to raising up the aesthetics of this iconic neighborhood!! Admittedly bar service was super slow which was the only drawback. Seems they were short-staffed. Pricing was a bit more expensive but keep in mind it's hotel bar so that's to be expected. Every inch of design choice was on point and I'm slightly obsessed with the water closet floor tiles. Didn't look at the food menu but the host said they do offer late night options so that's a big plus if you didn't eat enough peanuts 'n crackerjacks or Italian Beef at the game:) Definitely a place to check out for a less rowdy fan scene. Heck Zachary's just might lure in business from the Fulton Market & West Loopers weekend Nightlife scene! read more

While the parking garage could be a little more spacious... got a "Spothero" space to enable walking to areas in Wrigley... the rest of the hotel reminds me SO MUCH of South Beach or Flat Iron and Soho in New York. Boutique vibe, fun lounge decor... the check in reception desk seems a small afterthought in the huge lounge and lobby bar area... filled to capacity on a Sat with people on those cushion boxes/poufs just drinking and people watching... Demographics lean toward what seem like hipsters transitioning into comfortable adulting millennials.. enjoying upscale hangouts in a more hip vs. Loop suit type of style... loved the cool balcony terrace action with its outdoor firepit directly across from a pretty view of the updated iconic field sign. Such energy at night... it will be an awesome place to chill alfresco when the weather is warmer and just enjoy what is a huge heart of a primary Chicago neighborhood... minus all the old places that used to be here. Color me impressed by the revitalization. Also: Downstairs at street level is a restaurant and lounge restaurant. Might check it out sometime. read more

Great location and beautiful interiors. They really doubled down on the Cubs and Chicago theme. I took a few stars off for insane parking fees that weren't mentioned on the Marriott app (under amenities is says "on-site parking, indoor parking and valet) It was $57/night in the garage under the building and $65/night for valet. They did not validate the garage parking and said it's expensive bc of the close proximity to the ballpark but it's not even baseball season (Jan). It's worth noting there is also no street parking in the area (all residential streets need permits) so you're kinda just stuck with paying the fees. Also this is a silly detail but both of our rooms had alarm clocks that had incorrect times on them. (Off by hours) I feel like setting the clocks to the correct time should be a given in any hotel. The clocks weren't flashing either so it's not like they had a recent power outage. Buffet breakfast was not that great, super limited and not too fresh (I went at 8:30am). I think this buffet would rank lowest among my recent Marriott Bonvoy stays. However, today (maybe bc it's Sunday?) it was a la carte and they had me order from a breakfast menu and the food was made to order and much fresher. Anyway, given the price and overall experience I will probably try the Ritz next time as a committed Bonvoy person. The Zachary is certainly nice, but the experience wasn't as polished as other Marriott locations. read more
