I stayed at this hotel because I was attending two events nearby. The first was a concert at Joe's on Weed Street and the second was a competition at a night club. This was fairly close to the bus that I took to both. The room was okay, the bed was okay and the service was good. I only really had time to nap and sleep there. Nearby to the bus from Union Station and walking distance to the strip on Halsted. Had a dining reception area but I didn't utilize it. There was a print out of nearby restaurants and a grocery store was nearby. Baseball theme in decor and marketing. Generously stocked mini bar if you want to purchase snacks or alcohol, not for me but an option. No room for takeout so plan ahead. My room only had a view of other rooms which was fine but if you want a view be aware. I came back quite late but a quick call to reception at the door will get you in. I would return. read more

Pretty noisy and a bit shabby. Could hear people next door talking and even snoring, plus their tv, all directly through the wall where the head of my bed was situated, and also all of the doors in the hall on my floor sharply opening and closing. Consequently did not get one good night's sleep - woke up at least six or seven times a night. The room was clean, but a bit run down: The glass bricks in the shower were cracked and roughly repaired, tub stained, tiles in the floor cracked. Paint on my red door chipped white in many places. Mattress was old and soft, the one chair in the room uncomfortable. Weird thing where you have to ask the front desk to have your room serviced - I travel extensively all over the world and never experienced that, but okay, I guess it saves them money and is easier to organize. Also, just FYI for those who have a car, finding a parking spot is almost impossible. Day staff were very nice, night staff a bit indifferent, but accommodating. Probably won't stay again, price not up to the experience. read more

This place is dope! I had a marvelous three-night stay. Full mini bar, bottled water, snack assortment in the room. The decor and feel is vintage- 1920s/1930s, ceiling fan, A/C, located on a quiet street. Grocery store, Red Line train, bus stop, ATMs, laundromat, Starbucks all within walking distance of hotel. Located in a very hip, eclectic neighborhood. Other than a voice here and there in the hallway or maybe an occasional closing of another hotel-room door, I never heard a sound coming from within the building. Super comfortable bed. If you like hotels off the beaten path and tend to shy away from the chain hotels as I do, this place comes highly recommended by me!! read more

My son and his GF just moved to Chicago. I was going to visit and my son recommended the Majestic as it's next door to their building. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the price was reasonable and the reviews were mostly good. I couldn't find my email that morning as we were getting ready to fly out so I called. She immediately saw my reservation and told me she'd resend the email and also note that our arrival was a bit late. When we got there, the building is super cute! Everything is cubs oriented. The little sitting room is charming and has some tea/coffee/ and water. We went to the desk and were given a room # and keys and headed up. Unfortunately she was still cleaning the room, so we asked if it was ok to leave our things and we'd be back. She said it was fine. upon passing the front desk again he stopped us and apologized that he'd that that room was done but just heard from the cleaning lady she was still working on it. NO biggie... WE went to dinner and visited a while before coming back. On the way in, the person at the desk stopped us and let us know the room was done now and he was sorry. We went up and got to check out our room for the first time. It is old, but well kept and very clean. It has the old radiators for heating. The bathroom was updated and spotless. Sometimes even expensive chain hotels have some grout that doesn't look so great. This was perfect. They have a cute little mini bar. The fridge is full of a variety of drinks and a basket on the dresser contains all sorts of snacks. There were also 2 bottles of wine and a bottle of water on top. The prices were really reasonable. 2.50 is for snacks. Bottle of wine was 17... And you just keep track and pay at check out. One other note, the staff here was just so very nice. Every staff member I encountered actually seemed to care that you were there. At check out I was telling the lady my son had moved in next door so she'd be seeing us again and that I was sending his gf's parents there too since we liked it. She "yay"ed. LOL In a time that so many employees act like you are bothering them, this staff couldn't have been nicer. If you're looking for fancy this isn't it. But if you want a reasonable and clean place to stay, this is the place. read more

Ok, so all of the hotels in Boystown are pretty raunchy, but this hotel takes the cake. Please, see attached photos. When I entered the room I was given, it kinda smelled like old people, but whatever. The toilet was broken so was constantly flushing very annoying. Was about to use the shower and noticed a bandage stuck to the tub. I called and asked if the room was eveN cleaned and asked to be switched to a different room. The front desk man said only queen size (which I paid for a king suite) and I expressed how that's kind of sh*tty and had to be a Karen to get a room worth what I paid for. So I get "upgraded" to one of their other suites and I walk in, still smells like old ppl, the TV was hanging off of the wall, just not aesthetically pleasing. It's a 1 for me. For starters, if you have a pickup truck don't go to Chicago, you can't park anywhere. Front desk told us she would lead us to place that they accept trucks and that's a lie. I don't know if the walls are super thin, but I was kept up all night due to either our neighbor making lots of noises or it's an old building so possibly creaks. Worst case scenario its haunted and it chose our room that night. Anyways. Not the best experience. read more

Our party of two enters and again I am immediateLy put off by this estabLishment. ALthough the hoteL smeLLed nice with a fLoraL-ish scent, the buiLding and decor was very OLD. Just when I thought things couLdn't get worst- we step into a teeny tiny eLevator that's dingy and smeLLed of oLd staLe musk [i couLdnt have agreed with your tip anymore Robert G]. At this point I'm terrified to step into our room.... The room was tiny and there was a strange smeLL I couLdn't figure out. LuckiLy for us, I aLways bring aLong a bottLe of Febreze. The TV was tiny and so was the bathroom space. The room Lighting couLd have been better Lit but whatever. The room seemed cLean and aLthough I'm not too sure how sanitary the refiLLabLe shampoos, conditioners, and Lotions are.... I Liked that I couLd use as LittLe or as much as I wanted. The Majestic HoteL offers CompLimentary Breakfast from 7am-10am [we onLy made one visit and decided we were better off sLeeping in]. It may not be the best food spread but it's a nice gesture and you can't beat the price. MH aLso offers cookies from 4pm-6pm [on the contrary to what other yeLpers have said- the cookies offered are not baked fresh]. I'm not sure how many peopLe actuaLLy take part in this but the option is there. Coffee, tea, and a pitcher of ice water is avaiLabLe throughout the day. There is free wifi but it was QuestionabLe when it came to actuaLLy working. The saving grace for this hoteL is the friendLy, weLcoming staff. This is an old hotel conveniently located on the North side within walking distance of Wrigley and Lakeshore Dr. The bed was comfortable and the staff (although minimal) was friendly. They stated that during Covid, they are not offering daily housekeeping, but would be happy to bring you whatever you need. They do offer a parking garage for $30 a night if you need it. Although old, the only real complaint we had with our 4 night stay was the radiator heat. It would come on in the middle of the night and make loud knocking noises. Turns out this only happened 2 out of the 4 nights and the temperature of the room from the radiator heat was pretty much perfect - definitely more even than many hotels we've stayed in. They have a nice little lobby/ sitting area where you could hang out with friends and family if you needed a little more space. They were not offering any type of breakfast during our stay, but they did have coffee and tea available. We would stay here again if we were in the area. read more

This was our second time staying here. We chose this hotel because of the location and price. It's within walking distance to Wrigley (for a game or concert). The walk is about 15 minutes, depending on how fast you walk. Straight down Addison and the street is well lit and safe. The rooms are nothing special, but we just use it to sleep there. The bed is very comfortable. It's nice that along with the AC there's a ceiling fan that can also be used. The minibar prices are good too. Most food/candy is $1.50 and the drinks aren't too expensive either. The bathroom light is very bright; when waking up in the middle of the night it may wake up other people in the room. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend staying here if you're in the area. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet. read more

Great experience during a short family visit. The hotel was located close to everything we were long to do near the loop, staff was GREAT, rooms were clean and comfortable and the price was nice. They serve complimentary breakfast which is basic but slightly above the norm. We had a woman that was hosting during breakfast that was so sweet to everyone! She would make your waffles, bus your tables and was simply a joy to see each morning. Highly recommended if your looking to be close to millennium park, Shedd, catching a play at the attached theater or any entertainment in the loop. We loved it and will easily be back! read more

Went on a quick mom daughter trip for my birthday. I usually stay on the magnificent mile area, but decided to change it up and stay close to Wrigley. So glad I did!!!! This will be my new place to stay when I come in for the game. The rooms are clean,beds comfy, and the service amazing. Daniel at the front makes you feel like family! From the moment I walked in to the Majestic Hotel, there was an issue. I booked a room with a queen sized bed, that was clearly a full and was forced to upgrade. Now, they didn't tell me there was an upgrade charge until the next day. So, they comped our first night which was appreciated. After getting into our "sun suit", the toilet broke within minutes. It took them over 2 days and three separate reports to fix the issue which was conveniently inconvenient. By the time it was fixed our stay was over. Now for the biggest issue. While trying to get ice from the only and downstairs ice machine, I slipped on their old carpet and fell down the stairs. The person at the desk, a younger gentleman had zero concern for the fact that I had fallen and didn't offer any assistance in the slightest bit. I had explained what happened and that prior in the day, my boyfriend slipped down the same stairs, luckily not injuring himself. I happen to be the lucky one. We ended up having to fly back early so as I couldn't walk at all due to a doubly fractured foot which requires surgery. I am thoroughly shocked and surprised of the little concern they had for that matter and for all of the other matters there. It's absolutely appalling Their slippery stairs ruined my vacation as well as all the other problems we encountered on our romantic getaway. I want a full refund.... but until then... I am pursuing legal action as of right now, in hopes that this situation is rectified without me having to fully sue. I will now be out of work due to their stairs for 8-10'weeks in the middle of a pandemic as well as the medical bills on top of it. Thanks Majestic. Hope to hear back. read more

My family and I visited from NJ a few times to visit Wrigley Field. We love staying at the Majestic. It's such a cute little hotel with a very home-like atmosphere. They had daily cookies and coffees in the lounge for free, which was awesome. They are very attentive to their guests' needs and we hope to return very soon! read more

The hotel is fine, but they charge $25 for parking that's in a garage you still have to walk to and from yourself, and if that garage is full then YOU have to park your car across the street from the other garage. And you have to make sure you validate your parking ticket which is fine but the other parking garage then also required a sticker in addition to the stamp???? And the front desk never alluded to this which makes an extra trip walking between the hotel and parking garage. Just unorganized nonsense. The parking garage attendants were also extremely rude and not helpful. They are very annoyed that the hotel didn't tell us about this necessary "sticker" and were extremely rude is telling us all be of us had to walk all the way back to the hotel to get this "sticker" and we can't just call the hotel to verify our stay. Do NOT use there services for your car, trust me just get a spot hero, it'll just be just as close and not dealing with these garage jerks read more

We decided to try staying at the Majestic hotel again this year... even though we had a bad experience - see previous review. We decided to get an upgraded room and see if it was any better. The room was much nicer - still outdated. However once again after a few days they charged me some small amount for mini bar items that were taken... However we wrote down the water we took, and paid for that and the snacks upon check out. I had to call back again and ask for the charges to be reversed. It seems suspicious that every time we stay they end up charging us for items not used... I would recommend taking a photo of the fridge before and after! read more

The elevator broke down during our stay (I think for one day), and the hotel was extremely accommodating in asking a number of men on the staff to carry my aunt's wheelchair up and down the stairs (with her in it). The Majestic may not be any great shakes in its own right. Although the pricing is fair for a big-city hotel in a safe neighborhood, it might seem a little overpriced on the surface, given its faded, dated, and somewhat bland style and decor. But in my mind, it's got some stuff going for it, mainly location. First, it's not downtown or in the Mag Mile, in the middle of all the tourist commotion. Instead, it's in a real residential neighborhood, Lakeview, and even on a very pretty residential street with U-shaped courtyard apartments that pretty much personifies Chicago, at least an upscale version of it. The Majestic hotel building itself seems like it must have been an old apartment building at some point. This is the generally kind of experience I look for when I travel. And no, Lakeview is not the best restaurant neighborhood in the city, nor is it especially diverse. But there is plenty to do and see in this very walkable neighborhood, and the Addison Red Line stop is blocks away, with trains ready to whisk you--or tediously inch you, depending on what kind of day the CTA is having--up and down the lakefront. Wrigley Field is just on the other side of that stop, which, depending on who you are, may be a big plus or minus when the Cubs are in town (FWIW, I hate the Cubs and the Cubs fan-ethos but will readily recognize Wrigley as the best ballyard there is). The lakefront, great for running, walking, biking, etc., is only a block away. Plus, in-and-out parking is available around the corner for $22 a night, which is expensive for most of the U.S. but a damn sight cheaper than most of the lodging downtown. So there is all that. There are also the rooms, which while somewhat old-hat, are clean, spacious for the price compared to options downtown, and have comfortable beds. The hotel mini-bar is about as inexpensive as it gets. The building itself as charming as the rest on the street, but there are few window views from the rooms. The staff is polite and helpful. There is a free breakfast in the lobby/lounge; as other say, the food itself is nothing special, but it's a pleasant, cozy room for dining. read more

I'll say this, check in was great and Daniel the host was very nice. The entrance and lobby look great, however the room does not look at all as it is advertised. We are very disappointed in how the room is advertised on hotels.com and the hotel website. We're in a queen size room and it is not at all updated. Even the custodian who had to repair our tv said that it's old and falling apart, not to mention his lack of a uniform was incredibly unprofessional. Stayed here Friday-Sunday this past weekend, we heard a loud crash at 3am, we thought it was just the radiator until around 4am when one of us went into the bathroom and saw the water. There was about an inch of water in the bathroom floor and the water was coming out of the light fixture. It continued to leak into our room. We called the front desk at 4am to report the issue. With no urgency the man said he didn't have a room for us. So we had to stay in this room which is against so many codes for the city. It's dangerous. No one came into the room to even check the damage until 8am. We we're treated poorly and concerned why no one seemed to care what was going on. After having a brief conversation with the front desk lady at 7:30am a room magically appeared for us to move our stuff into. Why didn't they move us immediately when we called at 4am? We couldn't even go into the bathroom! They made us stay in a room that was a safety hazard and one of us could have gotten seriously injured. read more

Just had a fabulous stay at this quaint boutique hotel. It was super easy to get to, just off Lake Shore Dr. The gentleman at the front desk was very professional and helpful. We needed a cab to take us to our restaurant, so he sent the bellboy out ( in the rain) to summon one for us. Needless to say we tipped him very generously! When we returned to our luxurious suite after dinner, we had a quiet, and cozy evening in. Breakfast in the a.m. was a step up from the typical breakfast buffet, served in a room that definitely had the feel of a library reading room. The fire in the fireplace was a nice, and cozy touch. This hotel is very quiet and comfortable. It is easy to get anywhere in the city from it. Hotel staff made sure our needs were met. The courtesy bar in the room was very well stocked, and the prices are an amazing deal. $15.00 for a bottle of decent white or red wine in the room is unheard of in this city! The elevator is a real trip. . .Just large enough for 2 people with their suitcases! I just brought an overnight bag for our stay, so resorted to taking the stairs. I was in Chicago visiting family members and stumbled on the small hotel gem while searching internet. The baseball themed lobby was fun and attractive--plenty of IG moments to capture. For the price that we paid, this hotel is okay. It's located outside the loop, but in a quiet, somewhat posher, neighbourhood that is close to a big street (North Broadway) full of eating possibilities. It's close to the Wrigley Stadium (if you're a baseball fan) and within walking distance to Addison metro station. The exterior looks nice and rustic, but the inside is outdated, if not old. Our room does have a bathtub, we're thankful for that, but the AC unit is so loud and old. Breakfast features a very little option (those you could warm yourself in microwave or toaster), no warm breakfast option, and there's only ordinary milk (no lactose-free or vegan milk). All in all, we had a good stay, but maybe next time I visit Chicago, I would pay more to stay in the loop. read more

Overall, it was a great stay and I would definitely return. The rooms are a bit dated, and the TV is small, but not so much it would cause me to complain. The bed was a tad small for a Queen, but again, nothing I would have complained to the front desk about. The room - including the bathroom - was clean and stocked with necessary items. I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable the honor bar was! My only issue was regulating the temperature in our room - the wall unit was so close to the bed, that anyone sleeping on that side would kind of block the flow of air...they would freeze and the partner would roast. And yes, the view leaves a bit to be desired, but I didn't choose the room to stare out of the window all day. Definitely will return!!! Daniel at the front desk was a delight! Not only did he get us checked in efficiently, he did so with great professionalism but still made you feel like a dear friend who was visiting the city. He offered great recommendations on restaurants based on our interests and tastes, and was super helpful explaining how the parking worked. (which, if you read their website, it specifically tells you there is no on-site parking, so I'm not sure why people were surprised by this tidbit). Upon learning we were in town for a concert, he even offered us complementary late check-out! Such a refreshing experience, especially being our first outing in over a year! I didn't catch the name of the individual who helped us during check-out, but he was also very pleasant and helpful. Though I expected this to be a nice, older, well kept hotel, I have found little to help me understand why my stay has been so crappy. For starters, Daniel has no business being employed by this hotel. He knows how to check people in and bake cookies, is friendly, but not a helluva lot else. When we arrived, the heat wasn't on in our room. Daniel turned on what ended up being the Air Conditioners and told us to just keep increasing the temperature on the units until it got warmer. We asked about the radiators and he told us they don't work and aren't used anymore. There was a tiny little vent on the wall with a dial and it said Heat Only. We used that and it was the only thing that was dispersing heat in our room. It was in the low 30's outside with a strong wind. We spent the first night and the next morning freezing. Daniel was supposed to tell Chris that the heat wasn't working so he could come and fix it. Daniel forgot to tell Chris and until we returned around 1:30 pm the next afternoon to see the new desk person, we didn't have any heat whatsoever. Chris came up within 5 minutes after we alerted the front desk that we didn't have heat. He told us that the AC units were AC and Daniel was wrong and that the radiators do and are supposed to work to provide the heat. Chris said he was going to turn on the radiators and come back in 45 minutes to check. He was here within 45 minutes and still a problem with the radiators producing heat. When he returned, he had two portable space heaters and they were pumping out warmth within minutes. Chris was wonderful, personable and deserves a raise. The best aspect of the hotel thus far has been the beds. They are soooooo comfortable and I got an amazing night sleep -- one of the best ever in a hotel. The cookies are a nice treat late in the afternoon. The continental breakfast was adequate, although there was something wrong with the hard boiled eggs as they tasted like vinegar. Found bugs crawling down the wall below the TV in the bedroom area of our suite. The bugs looked like centipedes. Overall, this hotel shows its age and needs significant remodeling to be worthy of the extremely high rates. Its a boutique hotel, but there are few amenities that make it qualify as a boutique hotel. Unless you can get a super deal to stay here, I don't recommend staying at this hotel. read more

We recently had a social "night out" with friends in the Wrigleyville area and wanted a place to stay so we didn't have to drive back to the 'burbs in the wee hours. The Majestic was in the perfect location and it was kind to our budget. Here are some details about The Majestic that I didn't notice in other reviews. The hotel will validate one night's parking in a nearby off street covered parking garage for each room night stayed at The Majestic. Ask at the desk for details. Our room had an iHome clock radio with dock for iPod/iPhone. Unfortunately in our case the dock was the newer style "lightning" connector which was not compatible with my iPhone 4. There is a headphone jack to connect other devices but I was interested in charging the phone which the headphone jack didn't do. It was my fault for not packing a charger but it certainly would have been a nice touch to be able to dock to the clock radio. The TV/entertainment system included a DVD player which is unusual since most hotels try to get you to rent movies from them. The in-room entertainment had a decent number of channels to choose from and the channels were listed on an easy to read plastic laminated card. The in-room honor-bar had an impressive selection of snacks and beverages at typical hotel prices- probably about 20-30 percent higher than the going rate for the same item at a Walgreens, etc. There were also souvenir items to purchase such as a "Chicago" coffee mug and a "Cubs" rubber ducky. There were other items on the honor-bar list to purchase such as hotel robes... unusual but a nice touch. The hotel also has a small gift shop for Chicago logo merchandise such as rubber duckies and can cozies representing each of the major Chicago sports teams. The hotel had good sized bottles of toiletries such as soap, shampoo and conditioner that were in a rack bolted to the walls. This was good in that you were assured that there would be enough supplied, but bad in the case of the hand lotion where the dispenser seemed to be clogged and there was no way to get more than a small amount out of the container. I tried alternate means such as trying to take the cap off the bottle with no success. We enjoyed the included continental breakfast but we would have preferred if there was more fruit and or banana (the cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast) available. I liked the flavorful broccoli and cheese filled croissants but Terri thought the filling looked "gross". To be fair, there were other filled crossants (clearly marked as to what the fillings were) and other pastries to enjoy if broccoli and cheese doesn't say "breakfast" to you. My wife and I went out to Wrigleyville to have a night out. We decided to look for a hotel around the area so we won't have to drive all the way home, just a few minutes away from Wrigley field close to the lake front, this hotel is in a residential neighborhood and the building is from the late 1800 hundreds,if I'm not wrong, totally a different experience from staying in other hotels close to the lake or downtown. Baseball theme and even though the hallways look like you are in a movie from 1960's they are clean same as the rooms. I recommend this hotel to others, the price was good. The only negative thing is that it's really hard to find parking, only parking available about 1 block away. read more

The hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. We were close enough to walk to many places. The favorable parking rate in neighboring garage was much appreciated . Room was cozy but had what we needed. read more
