Pam was my bartender/server she's awesome incredibly attentive and gave great recommendations. I decided to go with the crab stuffed mushrooms which honestly were pretty good. It's served with a slice of paprika dashed lemon which I completely recommend putting on the mushrooms it brings out the best flavor! It's also served with a few slices of their garlic bread. Honestly it's great if you add them all together not gonna lie the garlic bread seemed a little over cooked it was more like a crouton but still very good. All of the staff are super nice! I'm glad I stopped in. I will be back. I have heard good things about their seafood but everything is market price so you definitely need to ask before you order. But I think next time I will see what their seafood prices are like! Paid $100 for prime rib and 2 king crab legs. The crab legs were overcooked so much that there was barely any meat left and it was stuck to the inside of the leg. This was my husbands first experience with king crab legs and a total disappointment. I halibut fish and chips and it was very dry. Basically all the food was overcooked and dry. Ivory jacks is a little off the beaten path but I find that is what makes it special. Immediately after walking in I was impressed with all the Alaskan decorations. I felt like I was taken back in time but in a good way. However I experienced subpar customer service our waitress seemed very upset throughout the service. The bar has a lot of Alaskan beers on tap that they rotate regularly. I started with the party wings which only come in one flavor Buffalo however you can choose the spicy level on a scale 1-10. I got a 5 and it was a little much for me to handle. I then got the ivory burger which is just your traditional burger on a toasted bun it was great. I recommend coming here for the experience not necessarily the food. Next time I come back it will be on a Friday or Saturday night(after 5) to try there specials. read more

This is a very casual restaurant in/near Fairbanks. There are not many other sit down opens that are open for lunch, so we tried this spot out twice during our trip to Alaska. Both times the food was good, made as ordered. The drinks were good as well. We did carry out once and dine in once. The staff was friendly and the mood was light. I'd liken it to a sports bar. This place is a great laid back place. I ordered french onion soup. It was very good. Served hot traditionally. Very savory with stringy melted cheese. We went because I saw that they had a Friday night special- Prime rib. Friend had the prime rib and I ordered the king crab. Plenty of food for 2. Would've been better with 3. This was an unplanned stop to kill time between excursions. We arrived around 4 on a Monday. The only others there were other people from our previous excursion. The decor of the place is unique, think Applebee's but with items bought at yard-sales for a nickel. They also provide the option to buy hoodes, underwear and shirts, yet strangely not pants. For those looking to go all out with ivory jacks merchandise, this may be disappointing. We only got an app, some stuffed mushrooms. I thought they were great, my wife thought ok. They don't have a lot of beer options, but you should be able to find something. Their traffic started to pick up around 5:30. On my travels I always document the cuisine as I am a Foodie. Nothing sets my heart wandering like Ivory Jacks in Fairbanks, Alaska. The atmosphere, with sports memorabilia, oddities, Elvis, local flair and Alaska history added a rustic flavor to the "log-cabin-esque" aura of the establishment. The place reeks of Alaska and the regulars who frequent are a nice bunch of folks. Starting with the sampler platter consisting of chicken strips, breaded mushrooms, fried zucchini sticks and fried shrimp, it was a precursor to the glory that was to come. I came to Ivory Jacks with crab legs on my mind. And crab legs did I feast upon. The finest, heartiest, meatiest crab legs I ever did have. The sea provided me a feast of meal that day. The Alaskan King Crab Legs, a whopping 1 1/2 pounds, came with a lemon crown, butter, bread and baked potato. My belly was full. My mind was at peace. I left Ivory Jacks with an even greater appreciation for Fairbanks, and, honestly, Alaska in general. I suggest you visit. You'll be glad you did. read more

One of my last meals here in Fairbanks before traveling back to Anchorage for the flight home to Honolulu on this Alaskan adventure of mine in 2018. I decided to spend it with my friends, whom were my hosts for the time I was in Fairbanks. It was decided that we went to Ivory Jacks, which seemed like a pub / bar looking restaurant, but it was as Alaskan as it came. It was the closest restaurant near their home, so it was a good place to just eat and relax - after an Friday evening and full Saturday out on the trails. It was a perfect Sunday late afternoon to have dinner and just enjoy each other's company before returning back south to Anchorage the next day. My friends arrived a bit earlier and waited for me inside the restaurant. I didn't see them outside till I peered through and checked inside to where I saw them already at a table. That was interesting, but what can I do? For the most part though, I thought that this place was rustic and intimate for what it is. The ambience is casual, serene, cozy, quiet, and most of all very not air-conditioned - from what I thought it would be. We all arrive here around 6 PM and left the establishment around 7:15 PM, from start to finish. I was able to order the halibut, just because it was a fish that was popular in these parts. Plus it was deep fried in a basket, so it was delicious all around. We got that as appetizers and opted for a burger with french fries as the main meal. To coax it all off, I ended up having a beer to celebrate what my friend and I did at the University of Alaska - Fairbanks' trail system the last 18 hours or so beforehand. We both made our distance goals for that timed distance event and it was a good reason to celebrate honestly. The overall experience here at Ivory Jack's restaurant and pub was pretty good actually. It's been a while since I had pub food, like real pub food in a while actually. I usually don't go to these kind of places and just buy alcohol at wine stores or beer at the grocery, but being on vacation, it was a nice treat to be with friends and have a couple. I really enjoyed my time here, even though the experience at this restaurant was a bit better than above average. I even managed to ask the server about their escargot, whether or not they flew them in from Paris, France. I got a pretty neat reaction to that, and it was funny too. I ended up getting the burger anyway, just because it just seemed way more appetizing than eating snails. I've had Escargot in Paris before and it kind of sucked anyway. Ivory Jack's is located at 2581 Goldstream Road In the heart of North West Fairbanks. They except major credit cards, which is always a great thing for us who live on the plastic lifestyle. They also accept cash too, but plastic is always simpler and neat. It was also great to treat my friends out on my last day of my Alaskan vacation, considering that I have stayed with them for the last four days. They have a pretty huge parking lot for y'all to park and stuff. They also seem to have a general store too Next-door to the restaurant. Best bet is to get here in a rental car or a private vehicle, if you have one. Not sure if the public transportation option is available, but get here because they have awesome pub food at your disposal. If nothing else, you can either walk or take Uber/Lyft for your transportation needs. You may need to fly here, since Fairbanks has his own airport too, driving from Anchorage well, but it is about six hours from there too. After we got settled we ordered the seafood basket, which came with fried halibut and 2 choices of fries, which I pretty much said curly and regular. I ended up passing that up for the Dinali national park lunch on the next day. For the main course I ended up getting the burger, which was cooked medium rare and that really hit the spot on a nice Sunday. This came with another round of fries, which I got the regular ones too. The prices here can be a little absurd and pricey, but what can you do it is Alaska and they do not access sales tax in the state, so everything seems to be over inflated. The meal turned out to be fine and everything was perfect as it can be. The burger was definitely what I needed and the beer flow through my veins like a fish in water. It was a good meal and a great way to end my Fairbanks vacation. With tired feet and a endurance body, Knowing that that was behind me, I didn't have to think about running anytime soon - until I got back to Honolulu and planned my next trips. The service was above average yet the ambience was nice too, as mentioned before. I would recommend coming here if you are in the area and love a good burger with a beer. I don't know if there are any other breweries in the area, but his face is as good as it can get. Stop in a while and rest your feet. Hit Ivory Jacks in March during a stay at a local AirBNB. Had no idea what to expect but chose it due to having a full bar. I don't know Fairbanks well but quite a few places in town either don't have alcohol or beer / wine only. This place is AMAZING! It's very much a locals type of place but we felt welcome almost immediately. It's clear the owner is a huge Yankees fan which I will forgive because the experience was top notch. Bartender was attentive without being overly, well anything. Just right. I didn't take pictures of food but the crab-stuffed mushrooms are out of this world. We also had ham / corn chowder and the French onion soup. Both were SO good. Ham had been smoked so great flavor. We then had some of the fried apps which were good as well. A spot to warm up if you're ever in the tiny community of Goldstream Valley. The interior is spacious, bright, quite eccentric and tchotchke laden. Full bar including beers on draft, there's also restrooms and a jukebox. There is a liquor store attached to the building, for your convenience. Chat up one of the many colorful bar regulars/locals inside, who probably have as many "sourdough" stories as you have the time. For snacks, you can get mostly all American fried food, burgers, etc. Probably the best prospects are on weekends, when I heard they offer a rib special, and on Sunday's for brunch (think cinnamon coffee, brown sugar bacon and eggs Benedict). There is cigarette smoking allowed inside. Whether that's a good or bad thing is up for you to decide. Onion rings were well fried and seasoned but the wings we got were the smallest I'd ever seen and almost all tiny drums, wish they had mentioned it before I ordered for 6 wings for $12. The sauce is made in house so it gets 4 stars. Locals love this spot and always see people wearing their merch around town including the funny "free parking" inside joke. read more

Sorry guys, I just don't get it. First thing you'll notice: that familiar sting in your eyes. Apparently there are still places in 2014 America where you can smoke cigarettes! I haven't felt that in years (college)! I don't smoke, but I actually think it should be up to business owners, not governments, to decide if smoking is allowed in their establishments. I should first say that I went here hungry, and they weren't serving the full menu, only fried items. No biggie, I'd get some fried halibut. It was mostly a thick carapace of batter with puny halibut meat in the middle, and it didn't come with fries, and it was about $18, and I was still hungry afterwards. They do have pretty good beers on tap here, and they are open late. The bartenders are friendly, but really, really slow. It's not good when there are 7-10 people at the bar casually hanging out, and you're dry for a solid 10 minutes. I did see the Northern Lights as soon as I left though! #silverlining read more

The baked potato & crab was amazing, but I had ordered my prime rib medium well and it came out rare/medium rare. The restaurant itself is more on the loud side. There is a TON of NY Yankees, Yukon Quest, and Elvis memorabilia on the walls. As there is a liquor store attached, they have quite the selection of beer & spirits. Fantastic place to gather or go solo for great food, socializing, games, and watching sports. The staff is friendly and chipper which is sure to bring a smile and warm the soul on a cold day. Well, this place is a casserole of nonsense. I am staying in a cabin nearby and thought it was a safe bet based on the menu items. I am not sure what is going on here. Is the owner struggling to figure out what he wants this place to be? Is it Fine Dining? Hell no. Is it casual dining? Hell no, way overpriced. Is it a museum for all of the region's spare junk? Yes Is there any kind of theme? No Is it a dart hall? A dance place? The bathrooms smelled like a disgusting pisshole of a homeless person and I almost threw up with the stench of piss emanating from the toilets that were resurrected from a 1920's brothel. I felt grosser leaving the bathroom than when I went in. Really? A sadly stained shower curtain for privacy between shitter and pisser? Gross. The food was ok. My steak was a big chunk of grizzle and didn't get finished though. It appears that someone has no idea how to decorate or even decide on a theme. Elvis statues to Yankee's fatheads on the ceiling. It looks as if the owner said to himself, I want every square foot of this place to be covered in something so I don't have to paint the place, like ever. Dim the lights some and ditch all of the fluorescents. Hey, snip 2' off of the Christmas tree next year instead of just stuffing it inside and Have it all bent over. Get some matching salt and pepper shakers. And if it's fine dining, don't deliver sauces to the table in a disposable plastic cup with a lid, try a ramekin.
