Updating my review since the last time. I think I just had a dish that I didn't like. Today I had a great experience. It was the most friendly staff ever! Two separate managers checked in with our table to make sure everything was good and that was really nice, they were very personable. I got the French onion soup which was perfect. I also got the chat crusted ahi tuna appetizer. It was very good and the presentation was awesome. My mom got the scallop and lemon-asparagus risotto. It was very good! I usually don't like chains but Houlihan's actually makes all of their food fresh on site. My mom got the $15 off for her birthday being a part of the email club. Great experience overall. read more

Why do so many bartenders think every cocktail needs something crystalline on the rim? Ordered a classic Sidecar, and I get it with sugar on the rim. These faux martini drinks have caused this. Could you imagine a classic gin martini with something on the rim beside some lemon oil from the twist? The French fries also had so much salt they were inedible. The bartender did ask if I wanted new ones but being in a hurry I said no. She didn't offer to take anything of the check though. I ate one fry. Really, just one. read more

Went there today and the waitress was great and food was good. However, nothing else was good. The food took over an hour to come out. Also the manager was absolutely horrible. Didn't come to any tables once and was honestly quite rude. Overheard him say a very inappropriate comment for a manager. Threatened to either punch a staff or customer in the throat. We have been going here for quite some time and love the place. There's never an issue and we always leave satisfied. Their stuffed mushrooms, arugula flatbread and french onion soup are a few of my favorites. Drinks aren't bad either. Never had a bad experience here , food is always so fresh and amazing giving 4 starts because some items can be pricey but it's deff worth the price . They do have a vegetarian menu you can ask for which makes it easier for us veggies to decide what to eat read more

Went on a Friday night and this was a pleasant surprise to eat here. Ordered the flatbread pizza with arugula and olives..very good. Ordered the steak fajita, which I might say Houlihan might be the only place that gives 4 fajita shells in the warmer. I went there last night and I had a Groupon. I decided to be extravagant and ordered the prime rib. What a great choice! It came with soup or salad and I think their potato soup is the best around. The meat was juicy and tender, the mashed potatoes were a bit garlicky but not too much, the veggies were a bit crunchy. The service was very good (I went on a Thursday night around 5). For some reason I'm not a huge fan of this place. The food is decent although nothing on the menu really ever jumps out at me. The place is nice inside and inviting. Outside it always smells delicious. We received really good service. But there is just something that doesn't appeal to me. Best quick bite on the way down to the shore! Easy to get off the parkway and out of traffic for great beer, good food, and amazing service. PLUS - its dog friendly. About halfway through, a roach fell from the ceiling onto our table. I've never in my life seen anything like that. On the higher end of chain restaurants. The goat cheese poppers are excellent and the drink prices are fair at the bar. Friendly staff and good music. You can't expect a chain restaurant to do any better because in the area of tgi fridays, Applebee's, and Charlie browns, houlihans most certainly takes the cake. read more

I LOVE this place. I have been going to the brick restaurant for a couple of years. The food is almost always excellent and the staff are generally great. I typically eat at the bar with my wife and love the bartenders. They are fast and friendly. The filet is awesome. I stopped by and had a burger and beer today. Karisa was working, alway friendly and fast. Probably spelled her name wrong though. The managers do a great job at quality control. I have been to the houlihan's in eatontown and it's not as good, food or service wise. Try the goat cheese poppers and the tuna wontons, love them. Tried this place for the first time and the service was excellent. Had the grilled chicken ceascer salad with the thin shaved chicken. And the loaded potato skins great tasting. I loved coming here after work you have to try the cactus bowl and the nachos! I always get the fajitas and the offer lettuce cups instead of tortilla for a healthier choice. This is a solid "go to" restaurant.. quality of food is always great and the price range is fine for regularly dining out. I regularly go here with my gf and her mom and we love everything about the place!! Food recommendations: If you like chicken, they make a great chicken parm, an awesome buffalo chicken sandwich, and a great stuffed chicken. The portions are enough for leftovers. I love the pulled pork sliders, 3 of them with a side of sweet potato fries are a nice light meal. Also they have a large appetizer section so you can try a variety of things. I recently tried the veggy burger and am in love. Though I love meat, I wanted to try something different and was not disappointed. Their drinks look cool... I've had a pinacolada smoothie and look forward to trying a blue shark/whale(I forget). The drink actually has the toy sea creature in it! Some fun non-food things: They have a trivia system in the bar area that is quite entertaining! Most recently they had a chance to win Broadway Tickets. They've had Buster the Blue Claws (minor league baseball) mascot, we got a photo of him there! I normally love coming here, but this time was horrible and not sure I will be coming back. My server, Glen, was beyond rude and snippy with us. We sat in the bar area, and while looking at the drink menu, he snatched it out of my hand and said "the regular menu will make it easier to read." We then told him to show us the different happy hour specials. Following this, he read out the specials for the night and pointed to the martinis, then the margaritas, which were right below the martini section. He also mentioned mules as well. We then ordered- 1 person at my table ordered a martini, another ordered a frozen strawberry margarita, and I ordered a mango margarita. I then proceeded to give him my ID and he rolled his eyes and pushed my hand away. We got our food and our drinks and when we finished, he brought the bill. We saw that our margaritas were full priced, not the happy hour price. When we asked him about it, he said the ones that we ordered were not included- however, when we specifically asked for happy hour specials, he pointed to the entire section specifically. Even if this wasn't the case, when we ordered, it would have been right for him to tell us that the margaritas we were ordering were not included in the happy hour special, since we made him aware that that's what we were there for. On top of us trying to figure out the bill, he was VERY nasty about it and kept cutting me off. He got extremely defensive and said that he never said that and that we were wrong.
