Had a very good lunch at this little place in Media. The Stack grilled cheese was excellent and the King Khan salad was fresh, crisp and had tons of turkey. The turkey was $2.00 extra, but the salad is only $8, so its not like they're ripping you off. Salads like this at other places around MainLine would be $15. They have Joe Tea which I love and the root beer was also good. It's small so get there early. The service was pleasant and timely. Really good place for lunch, but it lacks a little on space and decor so not sure about dinners. They take all credit cards and parking is all around the area. read more

I had high expectations of this place, and unfortunately was disappointed. We were sat in a corner near a dirty windowsill with three flies flying around. There is a lot of potted plants and flowers in soil, but they are not maintained and lacked any reason to be there. Food was good, but expensive. $10 for eggs, bacon and toast. The waiter got part of our order wrong, but was apologetic and took care of it immediately. Not sure we would return. read more

I always find that the food here is very tasty, but it takes a while to come out. Also, last time I was at house I asked the waiter a couple questions about the menu and he had no idea any of the answers. I simply asked if I could get the "you pick two" that's offered at lunch for dinner. He didn't know the answer. The thing about house that makes me the most angry is definitely the hours. They have the strangest hours!!! If you want to go to house at 3 o'clock for lunch it's normally always closed. Went to House for brunch on Sunday Pros: -Really friendly waitstaff -Awesome, varied brunch AND lunch menu options during those hours -BYO for those that partake -Food is priced well and tastes pretty good. Specifically the house salad was refreshing, especially for $5. The eggs benedict was cooked perfectly. However the potatoes that came with it were cold and the hollandaise sauce was just alright, after being told it was amazing by the staff. -Gluten Free options, as is they will sub any breaded products with a slice of Udi's and be conscious of it. However, when the house salad came out it did have 3 pieces of regular bread right on the plate even after acknowledging the allergy, which was a little odd. Cons: -SLOWNESS. This is biggest reason this is only a 3 star rating. The wait for a salad was 35 minutes, the wait for two eggs benedict after that was an additional 25 minutes. Its pretty unacceptable, and sadly the staff didn't even acknowledge that or have any reasonable excuse, or a BS one for that matter. It was not just our table, but everyone around us experience similar wait times. -Seating is cramped and a bit awkward for most parties Overall, I would probably give this place more one more chance to see if its less of a wait, but I know if I had anything to do in the immediate future I would not even gamble on it. read more

We came here for my birthday dinner after visiting Linvilla Orchard and were delighted to stumble upon this adorable spot! The atmosphere was cozy, the food was good and the server was very friendly and accommodating to our friend's 16-month old son. They had gluten-free bread so I could pick any sandwich on the menu! As a huge fan of tomato soup and grilled cheese, I can say that House is awesome. I went their the other day for the first time and had a great lunch--got the combo of 1/2 panini and a small soup. The food was really fresh and menu creative. There have a lot of different versions of the grilled cheese and I plan on coming back to try them all. read more

Great concept and the food was pretty good. The staff was incredibly courteous. The wait for the food was a little long. I had the tofu scramble which was very tasty but a little watery. We also got the breakfast burrito which was delicious but meant to be vegetarian but had a bacon flavor (but no actual bacon). Wondering if they cooked it in the same place? This could be a concern for vegetarians. Also there didn't seem to be free refills on the iced tea which I have never experienced! The decor was very cute. read more

Not sure what others find so fabulous about this place. I had an ok sandwich and soup but nothing what I would call over the top. I had the tomato soup -too much olive oil drizzled on top made it very greasy. It had good flavors but needed seasoning and there is no salt or pepper in the tables. My dining partner had the pea soup which was good and had a fresh pea taste. I had the Khan sandwich which was a buffalo chicken with Gorgonzola - the cheese was creamy but not very flavorful. My partner had the BLT which was more L than anything else. They grilled the sandwiches well but they came way after the soup which needed some bread or crackers to go with them. Had they come with the sandwiches it would have been fine. This plus two drinks set us back $30. This is a bit pricey considering the lack of service and the very worn look. There appears to be no restroom and there is no place for a wheelchair. We were two and any table we would have picked you are sort of shoehorned in. It's ok for takeout but it's not the kind of place to go to eat in. Go for the food; everything else falls short. There is nothing warm about the place so if you are picking a place for a date, keep looking. read more

I was highly impressed with House. The creativity of the menu items is a big incentive to try this little cafe. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with apple slices acting as the cheese's siblings inside the sandwich. The tomato soup was scintillating, the chips were something to salivate over, and the progressive cause behind the restaurant is one worth supporting. Went here for lunch wanting some grilled cheese and tomato soup before the big snow storm hit! I like the half and half pick 2/ pick three option they have-- I got 1/2 a sandwich, a cup of soup and a decent sized salad for $10.95!! I got the stack grilled cheese (brie, cheddar, bacon and onion) and tomato soup. I ordered the winter salad, but what I got was somewhat of a cross between that and their house salad...I didn't bother asking because it tasted good and I honestly didn't care that much. The food was awesome and my craving for some good winter comfort food was satisfied! Stopped in here for the first time today for lunch. This place is adorable & plays great music. The staff is more friendly than any restaurant staff I've ever experienced. Their food is fresh & delicious. I got the potato soup & a half of the Trio panini (spinach, mozzarella, tomato, evoo, and balsamic dressing). It was perfect, filling, and very cheap! (and the food was at our table in less than 10 minutes!) I will definitely go back - I want to try their brunch. But for now, it's my new favorite lunch spot. read more

This place is my favorite local lunch / brunch spot. The atmosphere is very casual, warm and welcoming. The service is chill but quick and helpful. The food is to die for. Really. Chef Mike and his team can definitely pull off one of the most amazing eating experiences of your life. It's that good. The presentation, the flavor, the love - you see and feel it all. This is a GREAT place to go with kids during the day, AND on a first date at night (they recently started serving dinner). House is very enjoyable in the summer time because they have lovely seating outside, but it's super cozy in the winter time too because they come up with the best comfort food around. And they keep you coming back because if you like them on FB you will be alerted of all amazing creations and specials they have ready for you on a given day. Love the place. House is innovate and creative. This cozy spot is perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The comforting food, friendly staff, simple ambiance all invite you back. This is the heart of media, healthy and simple! I love that house is a byob as well. A little bit of a tight squeeze but other than that the food is excellent!! The suburbs aren't always the best place for fine food and bev but this place is city comparable. The staff is young and hip-but not uber friendly, however the food makes up for it. In a word, fabulous. I saw them on yelp when I was looking for a place for dinner and decided to gave them a try, I am glad that I did. When I went it was around 7 on a Saturday night, they were not what I would define as busy, but there were a few tables full. The person I was with saw the menu and was hesitant at first. I decided to get the pot pie, and she decided to get the mushroom risotto. (they were both on the small plates portion of the menu) The wait was a bit longer then we expected but well worth it.they give you just the right amount of food. To finish off a great meal, we ordered their apple cobbler to share. The apple cobbler was amazing. When the check came we were expecting to pay a lot more then we did, the whole meal was about $45.(including tip) I can't wait to go back again. read more

I've had dinner here before and it was absolutely wonderful. The breakfast, however, is horrible. After walking in as soon as they opened, it took 40 minutes for anyone in the restaurant to get their food. The French toast was burnt and the Brisket is entirely too salty. This was my second trip to House with my wife. I'm a fool for good tomato soup and grilled cheese. This trip i veered from that intended lunch had the King Khan chicken salad sandwich. My wife had the turkey on baguette. We also had the two soups offered. They were the cream of mushrooms and tomato. The C of M was the best I've had and I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms. I dare say i like it better than the tomato. The King Khan had an appropriate amount of buffalo sauce to give it a great flavor. If i had to pick on one thing, I'd go a little lighter with the mayo on the chicken salad. The mayo and buffalo sauce make the sandwich too wet. The bread on mine was nice and crispy from the panini press. The wife's turkey was proper carved turkey, not the pressed lunch meat kind. The baguette was fresh and soft inside and crusty outside. Her tomato soup was textbook. Campbell's should sample it. The fact that a fellow Penncrest alum owns it doesn't hurt either. i love the intimate (read small) dining area. It keeps the atmosphere from getting too loud and discourages huge groups that would otherwise bog down the small staff. We had a large group of 8 or so come in after us during our first visit. If our timing had been off, we would have waited like 20-25 minutes just for the food. The only other issue I have is the hours. I live in media but cannot make it outside of the weekends. if it were just an hour or two longer during the week, I'd definitely hit it up for a quick take away dinner. read more

We have been going to the Towne House for a number of years; our last two visits were not up to par particularly Christmas Eve this year. We ordered prime rib and my wife's order had to be returned twice . The order was placed for medium well which never happened. After receiving instructions from the server on how to order, as if we did not know how ,we settled for the third attempt. Best sandwiches out there! House has very good salads, sandwiches, and soups. I always order the King Kahn Sandwich and a bowl of the Tomato Soup. I don't even eat tomato soup if it isn't from House. Good seating inside. It's pretty small inside, so groups no larger than 6. Great service! At first when they did their remodel, I was not liking the wait staff because you used to just order and then sit down and I liked not having to do the whole dining experience. But the staff turned out to be excellent. The app menu that also came with the remodel is excellent. The apps are top notch. Anything you order you will probably like. Also very good for takeout. Sometimes I will just crave a King Kahn Sandwich and will call it in and take it home. Perfect :) read more

I brought my family here for my mother in laws birthday lunch a few weeks ago. I give it 3 stars because I will forever love their El Niño sandwich but since their expansion, the service has been rough. This was the second time going after the redo and both times I was left hanging. The waiters all seemed pretty confused about their tables and it was pretty difficult to get anyone's attention. At the end of the drawn out meal it was hard to get the bill out of them and then given the wrong change. I understand they need to build up some steam since they didn't have table service in the smaller establishment, but they should consider hiring some very experienced wait staff instead of sub par college students. read more

Came here for Saturday brunch with family. Got there early so plenty of sunny seats inside. Decor is very quaint and homey (go figure!). The coffee is from Bean and Burlap and very good. Eaten there three times. I really enjoy their breakfast as everything is fresh. The French toast is my favorite. My daughters have enjoyed a variety of their omelets. The place is nothing fancy - small and cozy but the food is well worth the experience. I figure the cost for breakfast is about $2 more per person than most of the other local restaurants that specialize in breakfast and lunch - the quality and freshness of the food is well worth it. It was with different types of mushrooms, caramelized onions (where were they?) & hollandaise. Omelet was overdone to my liking. My biggest gripe: a $15 (!) omelet doesn't come with bread?
