The Butternut Squash Bisque flavored with asiago was definitely a winner too but before our soup course was 1/2 finished and with our Mediterranean Platter's tabouleh still showing its colors and enough hummus to later lead our waitress to ask if we wanted more pita ... the first entree was added to our crowded table. Not sure where the blame lies for the hurried appearance of plates but we were looking forward to a special evening out ... a birthday dinner choice ... a restaurant specializing in small plate dining should be well accustomed to serving diners in a relaxed manner. Upon their arrival I looked at the Schnitzel Medallions but wanted to enjoy the French Dip soup ... I knew the temperature of the food would be decreasing but the soup was so good. Why in the world would the first plate be served while we were enjoying our soup literally with soup spoons in or hands ... no, I did not hear that our flight was boarding ... we were in no rush but we were being rushed. So, now on the small table were our two soup bowls that we were finishing ... the plate still holding quite a bit of our Mediterranean Platter (We did expect to have some small talk after all it was a birthday celebration so we had leisurely started eating this appetizer.), we had the plates that we were expected to eat off of (Mine still had hummus and tabouleh on it.) and this brand new plate with pork tenderloin and asparagus. Maneuvering food became a needed skill. My dining partner put some schnitzel onto her "eating" plate letting soup cool ... I decided hot soup was more important than hot or even warmish pork so I continued to eat my soup but rushing soup made it less enjoyable. So, I finished my soup squeezing the empty bowl into a limited space on the table ... my "eating plate" was crowded still having hummus on it because I rushed my soup .. my dining partner said "yum the Schnitzel is good" while her soup chilled. I took the serving plate with the remaining Schnitzel and asparagus eating off it since it was the only plate with room. Before I took a bite the sliders arrived further crowding the table. Quickly the Butternut Squash Bisque was finished so that she could eat a hot well maybe warm Crispy Fish Slider ... I was still working on the Schnitzel knowing I was going to eat cold fish. And, as we both kept putting food in our mouths foregoing any conversation the Chicken Primavera arrived and looked picture perfect amidst the crowded table but finally the soup bowls were removed ... there's still hummus and tabloeh from that Mediterranean Platter that we didn't have time to finish and the waitress asks if we would like more pita ... sure ... I had just finished the cold slider and was about to try the chicken primavera. She also then noticed my water glass was almost empty and asked if I wanted a refill ...I did but had been so busy shoving food down my mouth that I just barely noticed I needed water (I actually knew I did but no one ever stopped by to ask.). And, just in case you're wondering... our flight still was not close to taking off from the terminal in this lovely lounge (It really is an attractive restaurant to dine in.) that reminded us of a classic airport lounge but it felt like a hallway fast food eatery. We had come to enjoy a leisurely small plate dinner with good conversation...celebrating a birthday before heading off to the theatre. You might be wondering why there are three stars rather than one. Well, the food was all really tasty. I would say it was delicious even though due to the rush the only food I ate that was hot was my soup. We finally did get back to that Mediterranean Platter and yes, we were given more pita and I wasn't rushed eating it because there was nothing left to be served. Oh, it looks like they have some nice outside seating for warmer days. We skipped the mixed drinks ... they looked really good and other folks seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Being that this is my first review on yelp, I consider house to be the perfect 1st choice when it comes to local spots in my neighborhood. After reading most of the reviews below, there's really not that much more to say.... Everything I have had at house as been delicious, fresh, and extremely innovative. Though the wait can be long at times during lunch hours with the seating being minimal, house has never disappointed me. My favorites are the El nino panini (chicken salad mixed with avocado, chipotle remoulade, bacon) and the Shiva sandwich (curry chicken), and the Southwestern (house roasted turkey with bacon, spicy mayo, roasted red peppers, and cheddar). The staff is extremely friendly, the desserts are outstanding, and yes they roast all their own meats, order produce from local farmers, make all their own salad dressings, and use high quality ingredients with everything. house is not one to be missed when visiting Media!! read more

wow. I was not expecting much in terms of food, as I frequent house for lunch and brunch and it's really good, but very casual....dinner was a whole new level. Food, service, ambience, music....the whole environment was soothing, relaxing and to put simply, enjoyable. My date and I split between risotto, Brussels, and pork loin and devoured all three. Go here for dinner, as they are still new and somewhat unheard of, before you cant get a seat anymore! Trust me! Their lunches and brunches are also delicious, and pretty much the best in town. Beware...the brunches can get VERY busy and as they told me once, get there when they first open! I waited one time till noon to eat (blame the time change) and they were already packed to capacity. I've been coming here on and off for the last 3-4 years (away at college for some of the time) and have experienced take out, eat in lunch and dinner, and brunch. I don't think you can go wrong....everything just tastes so fresh. The one owner Jenny is so nice and takes the time to go over everything on the menu with you (even when you're as picky of an eater as me). It's been hard to make it into brunch though, as they can get really busy. Avoid busy times and come in early is possible. I love it here and I know you will too! read more

I do like the food here quite a bit. There are plenty of delicious options to suit nearly every taste or dietary need. However, every time I go I always end up waiting for an eternity - this applies for either take out or dine in. The food may be yummy but the wait times, and poor service (not unfriendly, but generally not very 'together') leaves me a little salty. Overall, if you have plenty of time to kill, and don't mind correcting your order once or twice perhaps, you'll be sure to have a tasty meal. I've been in the building a million times over the past 40 years and it was nice to see it all redone. Glad to see they're doing well. We don't eat out in the area that much anymore but I'm sure we will be back sometime.

And a huge savings from the fact that It's a BYOB and they don't charge a corkage fee. The food was WONDERFUL - everyone raved about it, portions were large and service was quick and very friendly. The dinner menu for the occasion offered a choice from two salads (the burrata salad with fresh peaches is a winner!) 3 entrees and desserts. The desserts were - as always - absolutely yummy! I always go for the profiteroles but then there's their signature donuts (yum) and....well, any dessert is a winner. It was the perfect choice for a perfect way to celebrate a special occasion! Had been there many times for lunch but never dinner - but I will be back and can't wait to try brunch. You can't go wrong at The Silverspoon!

Our table was quiet. The mushroom omelette was exquisite both in taste as well as presentation and the mocha homemade ice cream was absolutely incredible! Excellent service, incredibly delicious fresh food and a great welcoming atmosphere.

Heading off for a nice Sunday drive we sought out a new place for breakfast. Early on a Sunday morning (8:30/9) there was plenty of seating available and no wait. Friendly faces greeted and sat us immediately. Our drinks in nice BIG mugs were on the table even before we could decide what to order. For me the Buffalo chicken sandwich on special caught my eye and I was sweating by the end of it. Great flavor, good heat, chicken extending far past the bun a win for me. For him, not so much. His omelet was on the small side, and favors were lacking. His side of scrapple thin - his toast unbuttered. Nothing worthy of complaining or sending back but definitely not like omelettes that we are used to getting. I would give The Kettle a solid 3.5 for the friendly service, comfortable atmosphere, and the chicken sandwich. Perhaps when in the area again we may stop back for another try

ENVIRONMENT Cute and cozy are the first words that come to mind when walking into the breakfast nook. The environment can best be described as the dining room of a cottage. There was ample seating and a sense of familiarity that instantly makes you feel at home. FOOD Bomb coffee!!!! I have to start there. While I was waiting for my food I heard several quips amongst the regulars about the quality of the coffee and I decided to take the dive myself. I was NOT disappointed. The other standouts were the turkey sausage and THE PANCAKES. There's no shortage of breakfast spots along Mainline both commercial and locally owned. Julie Anne's stands out for the warm environment and well-made comfort food. Happy eats!

From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming--it had that pure neighborhood feel that's hard to find these days. Honestly, it felt like we'd known the staff forever even though we had just met. The service was genuine, relaxed, and made us feel right at home. Add in great food, and it was the perfect start to our day. If you're looking for a local spot with a warm atmosphere and excellent breakfast, this place is a must. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in town.
