    Mushroom burger with veggie patty
    Gabrielle B.

Amazing eatery in BV with a great menu! They offer burgers, salads, bowls, burritos and more. Any burger can be made with the house made veggie patty, which is delicious it has sunflower seeds peppered along the outside and it is soft and tender on the inside. I had the veggie patty in the mushroom burger with pumpkin aioli and it was exactly what I needed after conquering a 14er. The brioche bun added a nice touch and although the aioli didn't taste predominantly like pumpkin, it added a nice creamy richness. The fries and fresh veggies added a crunch and the fries were soft and tender! They offer a variety of alcoholic beverages and delicious kombucha. With indoor and outdoor seating, you can't go wrong. There is something for everyone here!

Oh my, it was a feast! Will definitely be back for more in the future. It's a bit chaotic, order first, sit down later palce. You might worry waiting in a queue and seeing the staff seem confused, but it's so worth it. They have lots of cool options like bowls, burgers, and sandwiches, and oh my, are those tasty. We tried nachos and guacamole, BBQ burger and brisket sandwich, and loved all of it. In hindsight, we shouldn't have ordered the nachos because there was so, so, so much food on our plates. The sandwiches came kinda broken down. You can add tomatos, greens, and sauces from your plate by yourself. While I will always stuff my burger, my partner goes for the simplest options possible, so this worked out great for us. They also have nice choice of tap beers and had a cider during our visit. Again, very, very tasty, big portions, great deal in a cool, casual spot. Lots of customers with dogs, too! Gluten free options and substitutions are plenty, and they don't charge for it! Finally, a place that doesn't scam people :) Plus, the gluten free bun was really tasty.

House Rock Kitchen sits smack dab in the center of Main Street in Buena Vista. Really we didn't have many expectations; essentially our main priority was a pup-friendly patio. House Rock Kitchen fit the bill. Based on the name and exterior, we expected more pub-like fare. However, it's more of a healthier spin on it. Nothing wrong with that! According to my research they've been in business since 2015 and locals seem to dig it. The menu has a lot of items like salads, bowls, sandwiches, burritos and burgers. They also have vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free and paleo indicators. I was leaning toward something healthy(ish) considering Thanksgiving the night before. After quick deliberation I landed on the Indian Bowl. Though beautifully presented, it left more to the imagination. + Indian Bowl // Brown rice, veggie curry, yogurt sauce, fruit chutney, jicama-orange salad and grilled chicken (you select your choice of protein). The biggest disappointment was that the "veggie curry" was about a tablespoon's worth, a mere topping on the chicken. I was expecting more of a traditional curry, a rich and robust broth. It didn't help the grilled chicken was cooked to death. In my humble opinion, just an odd assortment of ingredients on one plate. The yogurt sauce tasted exactly like tzatziki...which has no business in an "Indian" dish. My wife's burrito looked and (from what she said) tasted much better than my dish. We appreciated the dog-friendly patio so our pups could join us. I will give props to the staff who were bussing tables and serving drinks. When it comes to the food, it was just an A-OK from me. However looking directly at Mt. Princeton from my seat was pretty neat.

Great casual restaurant for quality American foods in a nice and fun environment. I ordered the BBQ Burger, which was good, though I wish they would have put the veggies inside the burger for me rather than leaving it all on the side. The BBQ sauce/bacon/cheddar combo was classic and tasty. The buns could have been a bit softer though. The fries were standard. $17 for this burger was a bit on the pricey side but acceptable. I also got the Honey Lemonade ($2.50), which was also good and not overly sweet. They have a very nice outdoor seating area with tables and sun coverings overhead (in addition to a nice indoor seating area with normal and booth seating). The outdoor area has cornhole and bocce ball too! The staff were very friendly and attentive. The service speed was pretty quick. You order and pay up front and then they bring the food to you. Overall, House Rock Kitchen is a very pleasant dining experience for a casual yet decently nice meal. Buena Vista is a surprisingly nice little town and this is one of the spots that contributes to that niceness.

I love that they open for lunch at 11:00 a.m but we have gone back 2 times since finding to this little gem. Whether a trip on the water or a long hike, nothing tastes better than House Rock Kitchen's unique meals. When we arrived on a Sunday morning, there were already 6 people waiting in line. From burgers to burritos, they offer a wide range of choices. We ordered the Regular Cheese Burger and the Chipotle Burger. The Regular Cheese Burger was simplier and in my mind better than the Chipotle Burger. You don't need the extra sauce to make their burger any better. I hate soggy fries and they were perfectly cooked. If you order the Chipotle Burger, the dip goes better with the fries or order a side of the sauce if you go with something else. I love this place and the friendliness of the staff. See you next time!

SchoolHouse Rock! My bestie and I had the most incredible food here. After soaking at Mt. Princeton, we needed some good nourishing food. We both decided on the southwestern bowl so we could try the pumpkin pesto aioli. It was absolutely delicious. These bowls were so huge! We honestly could have split a bowl. I added the pulled pork which added a nice smoky flavor. Everything was so fresh and you feel way less guilty with their emphasis on healthy. I also had a side salad, but not needed given all the greens in the bowl. My friend had a side a fries. We highly recommend dipping them in the aioli. The he pumpkin spice yeti was delicious but watch out...it's a small drink with a big punch.

We were passing through and were excited to find this spot! Lots of outdoor seating, GF, DF & V options, big portions, friendly service, etc. Oh, and yummy adult beverages. It's nice to be on a road trip and still be able to find a quick, nutritious and well-rounded meal! We had the Moroccan and southwestern bowls - both yummy!

Indian bowl (rice, curry, chutney, jicama, pepitas, and a tzatziki sauce on the side).

Stopped by this fun lil place on my way through Buena Vista. The service was fast and the outdoor seating was amazing. I got the Indian bowl and not to be dramatic but it was life changing. The jicama slaw, the chutney, the curry!!! So so good. Plus, a big enough portion to take some home for later. Definitely don't wanna pass by this place!

    Simple Burrito (vegan style). Yummy!

We were passing through town. Decided to try this little place. I am Vegan and have trouble finding a casual eats in most cities/states. They cater towards all diets but nothing says Vegan. I spoke to the kitchen, they prepared me the simple burrito minus the cheese and worked with me to replace the chipotle sauce. It was a Greek type of sauce, however it tasted great in the burrito! The portions are a lot larger than I expected. I forgot to take a picture before eating. Here is what I am taking to go. Casual dining experience. I enjoyed it very much.

The bartenders were obviously working but also so fun and engaging with all the guests. They were helpful navigating the extensive cocktail menu AND made AMAZING dirty martinis. Definitely take advantage of their full bar. The food was stellar! I can't remember exactly what the catering menu entailed, but it was plentiful, flavorful, and had a wide variety. Everyone was happy, and spirits were high. The Lariat staff was really on top of all the logistics from what I could see. Maybe I'd consider coming here on a regular day or night, but something about attending a private event felt special.

The griddled cornbread and honey butter was FANTASTIC and the fish and chips was a super pleasant surprise! They advertise it as catfish... I hate channel cat (dark, muddy and fishy) so I didn't order it but my hubby did.... The catfish is Pangasius, also called Swai. They were huge fillets, white meat and not fishy at all. And the fries were crispy. It was super good! I had a Cobb that was yummy as well although I wish they had some type of vinaigrette. To top it off... the staff was super attentive and fun! Such a great experience!!!
