She made us feel comfortable in not being totally satisied with our meal's choice, she suggested an alternative presentation and came to check several times on how whether we needed anything else while offering a simplified food experience. Title: Lost a Loyal Customer -- Management Failed I'll start by saying I previously gave this location a 5-star review because I genuinely loved it. That review still stands for what it was -- but this is about what happened next. About 3-4 months ago, I stopped in after work wearing medical scrubs and clogs. The hostess turned me away at the door, citing what she called a dress code. Fine -- except I could clearly see guests already seated inside wearing sandals. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told it was a "strict policy" and offered a to-go order instead. No explanation for the double standard. No accountability. Just a dismissal. I've been coming here for years and never had an issue with my work attire. And I've since learned I'm not alone -- friends have described similar experiences at this location. I don't throw around the word "profiling" lightly. But when enforcement is this inconsistent, it's hard to arrive at any other conclusion. The food is good. The servers have always been great. But management completely dropped the ball, and that's enough for me to walk away for good. read more

This restaurant used to be excellent; however, their strict rules have impacted customer service. Tonight we wanted to add our third daughter to our table of 4 for my other daughter's birthday celebration. We were sitting at a small booth and were fine to have one additional guest. A manager came over to tell us this booth only allows 4 guests not 5 guests. We would need to move back to the lobby to wait for a 5 seater booth to become available despite having an appetizer to complete. I asked what was the reason for the policy no one could explain it. The server Caila was sweet, understanding and lovely. The food quality was not as it usually was the Cesar salad used to be garlicky fresh and delicious tonight it was ok but not the same quality as in the past. The apple tart dessert was missing the crust and was way too sweet. We will not be returning to Houstons. due to being a dissatisfied long time customer. read more

Food is always good, however the service is not. Arrived at 8:15 pm and was put on the wait list for bar seating which is fine. We proceeded to wait 30-45min. There was clearly little to no additional reservations coming in. There were at least 7 tables empty in the dining room but there was NO move to seat any of us on the waiting list (which hostess said they would do if they could). 3 couples walked out b/c of poor service. They need to remember the customer and avoid obvious arrogance. read more

This place used to be my favorite go to for lunch and after the awful experience, I had I would never come back to this location. Granite, I understand certain restaurants have rules and regulations however, I've been to this location multiple times and never have been carded for ID considering they let me sit at the bar. Then I proceeded to watch him serve five other customers without carding them. The manager made it no better as she basically try to scrutinize me for not having my ID without even knowing the circumstances of my wallet being stolen. Like I said, won't be back. And as a restaurant if you're going to apply rules and regulations, it should consistently not when they feel like it. Just disgusting. You would think by 2026 racism would come to an end . We went for lunch yesterday, the food was consistent for the most part, the Ceasar salad was overflowing with yellow corn & the fries were cold/greasy. The customer service is not the same, Houston's used to be a place where you knew that the food & experience would easily be a 10/10. We arrived, the hostess just starred at us, until I spoke. I'm surprised this restaurant only has a 3.4 star rating. I've visited this place numerous times a year and have always had a good experience. The food, the atmosphere and service are exceptional. These are our favorite dishes- Spinach and Artichoke dip, French dip, coleslaw and the french fries. My only recommendations would be that I wish their menu had more appetizers and entrees to choose from and they provided some kind of complementary dessert for your birthday. read more

I've been coming to Atlanta and Houston's for 30years. In the last couple of years the vibe and treatment of customers has tanked and getting worse. I attempted to go today. Arrived with my party of 6 at approximately 4:PM and the hostess spent more time telling me why they can't seat my party. She said "free/unreserved" seating is in the bar area. The bar had practically all the seats available and then she says the bar only has 2 seats. I get it, restaurants may be booked for the evening. However, when the hostess has the vibe and spirit of WE DON'T WANT TO SEAT YOU. That's offensive! And no, my parties appearance (our dress) was not in violation of typical business dress decorum. I'm retired and most in my party are clos to retirement. I'm a fan of Houston's but I will never return to the Atlantis location which appears to be what they want. I have not been here in la long time and not sure if I will be back. I am here at around 4:00 and the restaurant was not full. I tried to sit at the bar where there were 5 empty seats and was told I can't sit here I have to put my name on the waitlist. After getting up and following the hostess and putting my name on the list, I had to wait 15 mins to sit in the seat I was already in. I have been here for 35 mins mostly waiting and there are still 3 seats available!! read more

I couldn't resist the chance to relive my college days by finally getting to a Houston's after some years away from the Southeast. Arrived around 8pm and the place was hopping - great social atmosphere, steakhouse dimmed for evening cocktails with gas street lights illuminating the dining room at every beam. I was told an hour's wait and it wound up being just 20 minutes for a well-appointed bar seat (napkin laid out, spacious one person spot). Service is top notch. The host seemed to be on top of how to move people off the waiting list as quickly as possible and even helped me navigate the busy bar. The bartender was very attentive and my spinach and artichoke dip came out piping hot in about 10 mins (a note of caution, emphasis on piping hot). Kölsch beer was the model for the beer style - refreshing and light. Veggie burger is house made and full of chopped veggies and grains. Only thing missing was Houston's ketchup. I swear they did something different many years ago to give a kind of cherry wood note. Overall super happy I made it to Houston's and would be back again if I was in the area. After my 3rd time at Houstons I've finally decided to go public. I've had two business meetings here and the staff is super accommodating every single time despite me having no reservation. Do make one, it gets very busy here. My only other visit was for a date and Houstons does both vibes very well. The food is decadent so please bring your appetite. I've had the burger twice (delicious out of 10) and the Hawaiian ribeye which was great (I'll get it again out of 7) . The only opportunity at Houstons is the drinks as they do not match the aesthetic or the high marks the food sets. Keep it simple here and you should be fine, the drinks on the menu were out of balance when I tried them, but what do I know. Yall pull up! Just not when im trying too lol read more

We stopped by on NYE around 6pm after flying back from Aruba. We just wanted a good meal. When we arrived, it was packed but we were told that there were 4 parties ahead of us for the bar so we waited. It was about 30 -45 min not too bad. While we were waiting I did appreciate the "neighbor bar" feel. Almost everyone knew Jordan and spoke to him as they were leaving or when they came in. Once we were seated at the bar, both servers introduced themselves. It was a very lively scene. The servers were friendly and checked on us periodically. I ordered a loaded potato, Caesar salad and a glass of Zinfandel and my hubby got a burger with broccoli and a martini. He appreciated that they kept changing out his glass to keep his martini chillled. I have a gluten allergy so I left the croutons off of my salad. The food was good and temperate appropriate. A Lady name Khloe that works here was extremely rude to me. The host told us we can eat at bar and had us waiting for 20mins just for Khloe to come and tell us we can not be seated at all. So basically they had us wait for 20 minutes just to tell us we can't eat there. I really felt racially profiled against. On Sunday, 7/19/2026 @ approximately 12 noon, I had an horrible encounter at Houston's on Northside Drive & West Paces Ferry Rd., Atlanta, GA that left, a nasty taste in my mouth. I walked in alone, without a reservations, and ask the hostess if there was an extended wait to be seated in the dining room. She said yes, but directed me to the bar seating. A couple had just finished their dinner, and the hostess seated me at the bar, and stated, "You have great timing, enjoy your meal". Once seated, one of the bartenders began to prepare my table top area with napkins and silver wear. I may have been seated for 5 minutes before one of the other hostesses asked for my seat back. She stated, I was mistakenly seated and, there were reservations ahead of me for the seat I was in. I responded that I was seated by the other hostess and was told the bar seats were first come first served. Also, it was inappropriate and insulting for your staff to demand that I give up my seat after settling in for dinner. I made it clear that I wasn't moving. To make matters worst, the other bartender (head bartender), and the General manager attempted to bully me out of my seat. The General manager stated the other patrons were angry and I needed to remove myself from the bar seating. I responded, "IM ANGRY TOO AND WASN'T MOVING". The inconsistent messaging between the hostess that sat me at the bar, the head bartender, and the General manager was rude, inconsiderate and unacceptable. Even if there was a mistake made by the hostess that seated me, it was handled all wrong. As a paying customer I shouldn't have been put in the middle of their mess they created...their was NO accountability. My family and I have eaten at Houston's many times in the past and this was the very worst experience I've encountered. Maybe Houston's managment should add another rule to the laundry list of rules displayed at your front entry door, so patrons aren't blindsided and feel like your establishment is being subjective in favor of some. read more

A wonderful dining experience that began upon entry. The host/ hostess warmly greeted us as she was already holding the door for a guest leaving in a wheel chair. Our wait was not long - we did not take the option to grab a drink while we wait. Our escort through the beautiful decor to our tables was filled with amazing smells of sizzling steaks all around. Since we were there to celebrate my husband's birthday- he couldn't resist the Hawaiian Steak, I had the trout and rock shrimp and we shared the smoked salmon. Everything was delicious! I dreaded leaving this review; however, after seeing yet another person's experience being sullied by the GM Caelan Anstead, I have to share my experience. Let me begin by saying Houston's is not my go-to for fine dining or steak. My reviews will let you know my taste. I frequented Houston's because of its convenience and great service. The servers and bartenders here always have a positive and professional disposition. This made it easy to come back, time after time, and tip well. One evening after a few client meetings, I came in with a friend. We had cocktails, appetizers, and entrees. We were winding down and the GM came over to bring my check (of nearly $300 with tip) with the note pictured here and a "verbal warning" from a child about my attire. Attire which was a dress past knee length, kitten heels and pearls. After reading the card, asking for clarification, and noting the attire of a woman in a tube top, I was still told that my attire was unacceptable. I find it odd that after pointing out the double standard that was 2 feet away, the GM, Caelan Anstead still did and said nothing in regards to the other thin, white, and young woman that was outside of the verbal standards spewed at me just moments earlier. In fact, my attire did not go against anything written on the kinkos card placed under the bill. If the attire was so displeasing to Caelan, there were plenty of opportunities to ask me and my friend to leave; however; she waited until we racked up a $300 bill to then attempt to disrespect my intelligence, publicly embarrass, and shame me. As someone who works in corporate, operates a 6 figure business, and dines at restaurants that actually put the fine in fine dining, I cannot help but question Hillstone Group's choices on hires as well as training materials, policies/procedures, and internal processes. I am disgusted to know that Caelan continues to wreak havoc in her position in the city that I love. With a GM like Caelan Anstead, the doors will be closed soon just like the location that closed previously. With a GM like Caelan Anstead, Hillstone group is sending a clear message to its Black paying customers that she is in place to relay the company's thoughts and opinions of Black patronage. I'm disgusted, and so is this city, as well as then hundreds of thousands of people that view the social media posts related to her leadership. read more

Ok so I radelt give a 1 star review but if I could give this place zero stars I would. OK so picture that my girlfriend and I we walk in to request a table and we were immediately greeted by two team members at the hostess stand. They told us that the reservations for the dining was completely booked and that there was no space at the bar. My girlfriend noticed that there were several seats at the bar in the surrounding area, and one of the ladies stated that it is first come first serve, however, as we proceeded to walk to the bar, she said that we would have to put our names on a waitlist to our surprise. Another team member broke our name down on an empty scratch sheet of paper and told us that they were gonna put our number our name down and come and find us. 10 minutes later another manager came out and told us that we were not dress code compliant and would have to leave the premises. Oddly enough, my friend noticed several customers coming out of the restaurant with crop tops flip-flops in very very casual attire. I say all this to say, we were basically discriminated against, and this should be addressed at a corporate level immediately. read more

This is probably one of the most emotional posts I've ever wrote because my mom passed away on April 18th, 2024 and a meal from Houston's is one of the last she wanted . Her exact words were "when I get well, I want to go to Houston's and I want a ribeye, mashed potatoes and a glass of red wine". I chimed in and said I'm getting spinach dip and a lemon drop. She said, "oooh, we have to get the spinach dip", lol! My mom is the reason I love food the way I do. She's been taking me out to eat since forever and she always encouraged me to explore different cuisines. We've been to Houston's many times over the years and this also is one of the last places I treated her to for a birthday lunch. My husband had a procedure nearby and wanted to get lunch. I saw that Houston's was close by , so we ended up here. The restaurant was packed for Friday lunch. We didn't have reservations and waited about 40 minutes to be seated at the bar. The bartender was very attentive and polite. I got my usual, the spinach dip, Hawaiian ribeye and a lemon drop. Everything was absolutely delicious. Houstons is a great upscale restaurant in Buckhead. It's dark with an open kitchen and BEAUTIFUL bar area. The perfect place to come if you're looking for a nice dinner (small tables only though!!) For appetizers we got the spinach and artichoke dip and the cheese bread. Listen.... I am not really the biggest fan of spinach/artichoke dip and let me tell you... outstanding. For my meal I got the French Dip and it was absolutely delicious. The auju that they give you to dip the sandwich in is to die for. The prime rib itself is also cooked PERFECTLY. My sister got the filet and a loaded baked potato (the potato looked so good). The managers Sophia and Jacob and all the rest of the staff all made sure that we were well taken care of and all my requests were met. They were all SUPER busy but never failed to make me feel like I was unattended. Great job by them. read more

I visited Houston's today for lunch with my mom. We moved to Atlanta in July and I had been passing it so I was very excited! Upon entry, I let them know I had a reservation and I was told by one of the hostesses (she had a ponytail and glasses) that I had on sweatpants but she would sit us today. I had on a two-piece jogger set. It was clean and was not a gym outfit which is what their dress code speaks to. Her tone was very rude. Once sat, to the left of us was a young man in a full athleisure suit with the jacket open revealing a white tee which is NOTORIOUS for being against dress codes. There was also a woman a few tables over with a shirt and actual sweatpants that flared out at the bottom. There was also a young lady in there with ripped jeans. I'm just curious to know if they were greeted with the same tone and warning as I was. Our waitress (I don't remember her name unfortunately) but she was very polite. I asked for a Shirley Temple. I have not been to a bar that did not have grenadine, but okay. Then I asked for a lemonade or a Coke Zero, both of which they did not offer. So it's either water or an alcoholic beverage at that point. Although she gave me many "no's" to my drink requests, our waitress was atleast apologetic that they did not have it and that was not her fault. She may have been the best part of our Houston's experience. Unfortunately though, I will not be back. I have many friends come into town to visit and they take my restaurant recommendations very serious. Houston's environment and menu don't even make sense for their dress code to be strict. It's your average American cuisine at best. Very disappointing experience. read more

Amazing experience! Came here with a friend for a nice dinner. We arrived a little early and sat at the bar and got some drinks while we waited. The dirty martini was one of the best I've had, perfectly olive-y. For the table, we split the spicy tuna roll and the cheesy bread (off menu). The roll was incredible, with the macadamia nuts and jalapeños providing a good crunch. The cheesy bread was insane, I'm still thinking about it. For my entree, I got the filet, which was 8oz and came with a sauce, mashed potatoes, and some steamed broccoli. The filet was perfectly cooked but needed a bit more seasoning, as did the mashed potatoes. I actually really like the broccoli with some lemon. For dessert, we got the brownie topped with ice cream, which was fabulous. The brownie was warm and it was all covered in nuts and caramel. Always a delight to come to this location but I will tell you if you need to book a reservation please do it a couple of days in advance. Also make sure you get here with plenty of time to spare because Atlanta traffic can ruin your day. Highlights and this is unusual the bathrooms were extremely clean cozy comfortable Smells good. The food here always is on point the salad with those cornbread croutons or something to die for. Everything was cooked too perfect perfection the service was great the environment was upbeat not too noisy. If you are a female or a guy and you get the chills please bring a light jacket with you. There there is not a lot of room to wait on the inside but if it's not too hot there's plenty of seating outside of the restaurant but it's best to wait in your car until you are notified your seating is available. I've been going here for a while with my ex-coworker and a friend of hers. Love meeting these ladies. Well her friend couldn't make it so we decided to go anyway. Hadn't seen her in months. I usually get the salmon. So delicious. I decided tonight to have the burger. This is a very large burger. Cooked to my liking. But I think the burger itself has gotten smaller. Not the bun. Just the burger. Still good. But disappointing. I'm not a fry person so I got the Ceasar salad. Delicious. Truly consistent and not just of late. For over 25 years of eating at Houston's it has remained a truly solid American restaurant. While some things on the menu have never changed, some innovation has occurred as well. The staff is always well trained and attentive. The atmosphere is wooden booths and the lighting is lower, which makes for a better dining experience. While I like one or two of the recipes at the Peachtree location better, it's a great choice and especially since they now allow reservations. read more

The food at Houston's is always on point, but it's the service that got me this time. The Services to me are a little racist when it comes to blacks. The waitress that I had wasn't very attentive and many others had to come and help us with our orders and things that we needed while there. We're told we can't wear a certain things when we come into the establishment, but I sat there last night and watch several Caucasian women come in out of dress code and will still serviced without problems nor complaints against them. read more

We chose Houston's on West Paces to celebrate a momentous occasion and left extremely disappointed. Despite a confirmed 7:00 p.m. reservation, we were immediately rushed, and pressured to order quickly due to the restaurant closing early. Our server's attitude was visibly irritated and unprofessional. We'd watched her roll her eyes as she turned her back from each table she was serving. The most troubling moment came when our Manhattan martini was taken mid conversation and "refreshed" by pouring liquid from another pre-poured glass into ours at the table, with no explanation. This raised serious concerns about food and beverage safety. No establishment will ever refresh a martini with a pre-mixed glass pouring one into the other in the air. When addressed, management dismissed the issue entirely and charged us for the drink anyway commenting "this is normal for our establishment" and "she took no more than 5 seconds to do it I'm sure it wasn't much of an inconvenience". For a semi fine-dining establishment, this level of service and handling is unacceptable. The food was stellar and the ambience of the place was delightful, I will give them that. However, due to the service and beverage safety concerns we will not be returning to this location. read more

High Prices, Extensive Rules, and HORRIBLE customer service: I had a terrible experience at Houston's West Paces this afternoon, so much so that I will never return and will relay what occurred to my friends and network. I brought my two sons for lunch to celebrate high school breaking for the holiday. Several minutes after we were seated a woman approaches our table, leans into my space and proclaims that I hit her car (in the parking lot appx 8min prior). This is incredible given the fact that there were no cars next to me in my parking spot, and neither me, my teenager, nor my other son had any clue what she was talking about. Further, we had been standing in front of the restaurant waiting for it to open for 5 minutes so it makes little sense why she would not have approached me in any of the time leading up to us being seated if I had in fact hit her car. She continues with her false accusations. At this point I'm starting to think she's trying to scam me because none of this makes sense. When I ask if she'd like to call the police, she says "nevermind, I have your plate," and she walks to her table. I follow her and ask for her information. At this point GM Ashley Haymaker approaches us and asks the lady what happened, and she again says I hit her car. Ashley turns to me and says severely, we have video footage, as if she assumes I'm lying. I say great! I'd love to see the footage as I did not hit this lady's car. The lady then says no, no she is going to let it go (bc she clearly isn't getting anywhere with her false accusations). I say to the manager, "no I still want to see the video", and the manager proclaims, "the lady says she's going to forget it so we do not need to view the footage" (again siding with this lady who at this point really seems to be attempting some sort of scam that is failing). I go back to my table, order, and call my spouse to inform him of this insanity. He picks up, I say "hello," and within moments Manager Ashley immediately approaches me and says curtly there are no phones allowed in the dining room. Clearly, she was watching me at my table to have arrived so quickly to again treat me, a paying customer, like a child. I tell her I have not appreciated her treatment as that woman was clearly trying to scam me into thinking I owed her something. Ashley now says the lady claimed my son hit her car door, again advocating for this lady with zero basis. Further, the story has now morphed into a different story: my son hit her door, not I hit her car as she originally claimed. The new story is even more ridiculous as no cars were on either side of us. A random person accosting me with a fabricated story in front of my children while we're trying to have a nice lunch is not pleasant, but being treated like total garbage by the manager was what really made this a truly awful is experience, and why I will not return to this restaurant, which is a shame because Houston's has yummy food. *So much for their professional dress code and many rules when they cannot even handle situations properly. Maybe they need more rules to govern their professionalism from their management rather than their customers. read more

I made a lunch reservation three months ago for 5 people. We had tickets to The Nutcracker following lunch so we were on a schedule. The employee who took the reservation said, 'we don't normally take reservations for more than 4 people but I'm going to do this for you.' I called at noon the day before to confirm our reservation. AND I received this (copied and pasted) text message from the restaurant the night before- "Just a reminder you're booked at Houston's - West Paces. Your table is for 5 on Dec 14 at 11:45 am. Text "YES" to confirm your reservation, or "CANCEL" to cancel." When we arrived , the hostess and the manager, Caroline(?), both informed me that they can't guarantee reservations for 5. They only have three tables that accommodate five people and if one of those tables are open when we arrive, they can seat us. So WHY did they take my reservation? And WHY did they confirm my reservation twice? If they were forthright from the beginning, I would have made a reservation somewhere else. Needless to say, all three 5-tops were full. We asked for the 5 of us (4 adults and one child) to be seated in a booth. Their response, "we aren't allowed to put 5 in a booth." They had us waiting 50 minutes to be seated!!!!! I worked in the restaurant business for over 10 years, in every capacity, INCLUDING management. There are so many ways in which this situation was mishandled. In this case, the most obvious solution, since we were willing, was to seat the 5 of us in a booth. Rules need to be bent to accommodate their customers! I am done with Houstons...last few times been there...it is always something. Went 9pm on nov 9th for dinner. Why is there a policeman on-duty at hostess station? Anyway got drinks at bar. Then watched employee argue with white coat chef about getting fired.....why would you argue with a room of patrons hearing every word????? Got seated.....all good.....placed order asking for 3 potato toppings on side. When food came....one small bowl came with butter,chives, and sourcream together....like all together. Asked server for separate butter, chives and sourcream for potato...she went to kitchen to get and kitchen manager "SIDI" sent her back out with same little bowl with all toppings together and said the can't have 3 toppings separate. Wtf Houstons....I am done...always something stupid going on at this restaurant...i am going to stick with Pappadeaux where there is guaranteed great food and service. Btw...confirmed today via call that this is there potato policy....how ridiculous. read more
