I have not been to Houston's in years so I decided to grab dinner here after a long work day. I was able to sit at the bar and it was already a steady amount of customers coming in. The bartenders were great and provided excellent customer service. I ordered the Hawaiian ribeye and fries and it was delicious! Cooked so well. I ordered dessert as a recommendation from one of the bartenders and it was so good! As time went on the restaurant became more crowded. So even on the weekdays Houston's stay packed! I always appreciate the dark, cozy ambiance at Houston's. The spinach dip is a staple and definitely always on point. I decided to try something new & ordered the Emerald Kale & Rotisserie Chicken salad. I wanted to love it and I know I really would have if it didn't have cilantro in it-- all ingredients not listed on the menu. The salad is premixed so there wasn't a way they could prepare another salad without it. I was a little disappointed by that because the salad would've been AMAZING! Horrible horrible horrible service! When I arrived I was told that there was a new dress policy being enforced and that my shirt was inappropriate. Since my table was not ready yet, I went and got a regular T-shirt. After waiting 45 minutes I was told my table was ready! Before I could sit down the manager proceeded to tell me that the attire was a bit more casual and then offered to me to reschedule my reservation. I don't mind having a dress code but why not address that the first time the comment was made. Today is Father's Day it's 9 pm and almost everything is closed!! I will never come back here again. Houston's is great value for money. In my experience, you'll only find better steak in the US at a higher price point. For us steak lovers, Houston's menu has little variety, but their ribeye steak covered in a pineapple-soy-ginger marinade, dubbed "The Hawaiian," is excellent. Their barbecue ribs are also very tender and flavorful. Other highlights include their French fries, Spinach and Artichoke Dip, and their delicious Key Lime Pie. I also appreciate Houston's quality standards; for the past 15 years, we've frequented their various locations in Florida and Georgia, and there has never been a deviation in quality. I also like the fact that their lunch and dinner menus are almost identical. It irritates me when higher-end steakhouses either don't open for lunch or offer a threadbare lunch menu. But Houston's will give you a great experience for lunch as well. We just visited their Atlanta West Paces unit and spent $199 for a three-person lunch before tipping (no alcohol, only water, one appetizer, three entrées, two deserts, see photo for more details). I have been CRAVING the Hawaiian Ribeye for the past few months and my Sweetie finally took me on Valentine Day weekend. We don't really celebrate the holiday but decided to come out. They NEVER and I mean NEVER disappoints whenever we indulge and it's my first time at this location. We were seated with our 6:45 reservations. The hostess were very professional, polite and accommodating. Laid back ambiance with a sleek vibe to it. Our server Jasmine (Jaz) was absolutely amazing. Very knowledgeable, very attentive, and overall made our experience even better with her beautiful smile. We ordered the Devil Eggs & Three Cheese Bread( forgot to take a picture) . The Hawaiian Ribeye was cooked to a PERFECT medium, flavorful,with the perfect balance of marbling and delicious flavor. Baked potato's were a great size and fresh out the oven. Red cabbage was full of flavor cooked in a balsamic glaze and topped with delicious goat cheese. We complemented our dinner with delicious crafted Old Fashioned. I went to Houston's to have a celebratory lunch because it's one of my guy friend's favorite places. It was my fault for not making a reservation, so we had about an hour wait for bar seats. I keep forgetting how everyone is desperately out now. Service was not good. The bar was full and only 2 people were working it, one of whom kept leaving. Unfortunately, the one who kept leaving was our server. The other bartender did a great job of doing what we asked but she was super busy trying to attend to all of us. This review is 2 stars because the food was perfect. We had the salmon and focaccia starters, the barbecue ribs and cheeseburger. I don't even like salmon and that starter was fantastic. The cheeseburger was so good that I ate all of it, even though it was a large serving for me. This was my first time dining at this location, and I don't know yet that I'll be back. So background... I've been eating at Houston's in New Orleans from 1993 until I moved to Atlanta two years ago. I've been several times to this Houston's before, but only for drinks and of course the spinach dip. I went yesterday at 5:30pm (latest we could get a last minute reservation) for cocktails and dinner. Cocktails were great and the staff as amazing as always. Spinach dip, same as always, yum. What got me leaving off one star (and I thought about two) was the fact that the tuna salad, which has always been one of my top favs, was HALF the size it used to be. Half the salad, half the tuna. In fact, I was splitting it with a friend and when the waitress put it down I said "oh awesome they split it up for us" only to realize that no they did not. Now this was always a gigantic salad, perfect for splitting before a main, or a whole meal for one person, which justified the price. But now it is grossly overpriced, in my opinion. I don't come to Houston's for a cheap meal by any stretch, I always considered it a privilege of getting such great service and consistency, but this left me scratching my head and wondering what else they are now skimping on. On another note, I find it funny that the floors behind the bar leading to the restroom have a slippery feel to them..the ones in New Orleans (there used to be 2) had the exact same slippery feeling! I still love Houston's, and despite my griping I'll likely go back for the spinach dip and great service alone. read more

I have gone to this restaurant a number of times. It was a favorite of the families many years ago in Kansas City. Since moving here I first went for the novelty, but the service and food made me go back. The bartenders and servers are excellent. Lots of, even fine dining, restaurants in Atlanta leave you wanting for better service - that won't be your experience here. They even change out your martini glass for a new chilled one if your drink has been sitting for a while. It's very cozy and feels intimate, even at noon. Only thing that keeps me from going more often is how busy it is and that you have to call to make a reservation. Just the fact that you have to call for a reservation and that it's always packed speaks volumes. Oh, and the food is excellent! read more

We made early dinner reservations for 4:30pm on a Tuesday. There was a bit of a wait at the door when we arrived. Once seated, we were promptly greeted by a server that took our drink orders. After a while we were greeted by another server who ended up being our server for the remainder of the dinner. My brother went w the Barbecue Pork Ribs. He loved them. He was also a fan of the shoe string style fries, but didn't care for the coleslaw. My sister ordered the Scottish Salmon. She loved the parmesan broccoli and pomme purée but claimed the salmon was lacking flavor/seasoning. I ordered the Hawaiian Ribeye (Medium) and absolutely loved it. The flavor was great and it was cooked perfectly. Also loved the loaded baked potato. Once we finished dinner, I notified the server that we were celebrating a birthday in our group. She told me that they didn't normally do birthday desserts, but she would make it happen. We selected the Key Lime Pie. It was delicious and I loved the hints of coconut in the crust. Upon arrival we were greeted by Odi and some other hostess. Odi's customer service was impressive. She made sure we were seated and accommodated in a timely manner. Our server was Ashley and her co server was a man, which they both provided an incredible dining experience for us. The food was impeccable. There wasn't a moment where our needs weren't met. I recommend making reservations because it is busy. The cocktails and mocktails were made to perfection. Go here if you would like to eat and drink good , while having superb service. I'm a huge fan of Houston's and their sister restaurant Hillstone in Bal Harbor Miami. I've been to Pompano, FL, AVentura, FL, Boca Raton, FL and now this location. The level of accommodation was just chefs kiss! She's so poised and graceful she nearly floats around the dining room! I have been dining at Houston's West Paces Ferry since 1989. We stopped in after a day of shopping on our way back to Chattanooga with my mother and two granddaughters. I was told it would be a few minutes to be seated. After several minutes the hostess came back and looked us up and down and said my granddaughters did not meet the dress code due to having on rubber flip flops and did we have different shoes in the car. They are made of leather. She said she would let it slide this time but in the future we should be mindful of the policy. Well, I let her comment slide because I love Houston's and the food is always wonderful and our waitress was excellent but on the way out saw two adult women exit wearing jeans with holes and bare midriffs showing. OMG...GM, Caelen Anstead...where do I start... My family has been loyal customers for 30+ years but no more...will never go back! Can no longer get filet cooked anything more than Medium (which is more like rare) and butterfly not an option (which always has been an option) because as corp type GM, Caelan Anstead described, can't "sacrifice integrty of meat", whatever that means. Tried to remind her that we're the customer and should not matter how we want our steak cooked, to no avail. Fact that we're the customer and Houston's telling us how we need to enjoy our steak is nothing short of morinic. My wife was so upset, she broke down crying as food is obviusly essential for humans to live and being told by GM, Caelen Anstead how she should eat is something that was frankly hard for us to comprehend. GM, Caelam Anstead was smug and neither compassionate, nor empatetic to the horrible experience we had. To that end, she had the intestinal fortitud to tell us we were in the wrong and charged us full price for the the steak, regardless of our horrible experince. In the end, our horrible experince may be a blessing as the quality of this location has been on the decline for few years while the prices have unproportionally gone up (e.g., $21 for Spinach & Artichoke dip). On a postive note, our bartender provided great srvice and was very understanding. BTW - We had few drinks and spent nearly $300 so not looking for feee lunch. read more

This has been my favorite restaurant since I was 12. My Mother and I went for lunch quite often. Our go to was a chicken salad with one hot bacon dressin and one honey mustard and the club sandwich. It was devine. They no longer have the club sandwich so I rarely do lunch at Houston's anymore. It's still my favorite restaurant for dinner. I love how all they have are booths and they have the lights down low. Feels like it's just your group there. If they are in season you have to get the grilled artichokes. This is one of the best things I've ever eaten. If they don't have those the spinach artichoke dip is amazing as are the brussell sprouts. For my entree I usually get the tuna or one of the steaks. They are always cooked perfect. you can't go wrong with anything you pick on their menu. I usually don't bother with a side as i'm too full from stuffing my face full of the artichoke appetizer. I don't know why I do it to myself...I keep hoping the service will be different, but it's as though I'm a glutton for punishment. Houston's is a chain ( albeit a good one,) but it's a chain nonetheless. This location is in a strip mall with a Whole Foods 365 store and Hollywood Feed across the parking lot. They try to be elevated, but it's in a performative, patronizing way. It's not genuine and I rarely feel welcomed. Tolerated yes, but welcomed, absolutely not. I come out to eat to have a great experience and to relax. This location always feels like they're trying to rush you through your meal. My friend and I were in the process of paying our bill earlier today. I put my card down, and my friend was pulling out her wallet. One of the servers immediately came by to pick up the bill. And we say, one moment, we have another card. She literally stood at the table and waited for my friend to get her card. We were attempting to finish our conversation and other staff was rushing to remove napkins and glasses from the table. I asked if we could finish our conversation and I get a patronizing response that "this is our way...we just don't like to have clutter on the table." Then you have the GM pacing through the restaurant as though he's standing guard. It's such a weird vibe. I so miss the Lenox location. Houston's is definitely not what it used to be. read more
