The assistant manager was incredibly rude, came by to double check our IDs after we ordered drinks (we are very much legal age) and was told "we didn't have proper identification", not sure how we can do better than our drivers liscences that work through TSA but apparently not in their scanning machine. This has been my favorite restaurant since I was 12. My Mother and I went for lunch quite often. Our go to was a chicken salad with one hot bacon dressin and one honey mustard and the club sandwich. It was devine. They no longer have the club sandwich so I rarely do lunch at Houston's anymore. It's still my favorite restaurant for dinner. I love how all they have are booths and they have the lights down low. Feels like it's just your group there. If they are in season you have to get the grilled artichokes. This is one of the best things I've ever eaten. If they don't have those the spinach artichoke dip is amazing as are the brussell sprouts. For my entree I usually get the tuna or one of the steaks. They are always cooked perfect. you can't go wrong with anything you pick on their menu. I usually don't bother with a side as i'm too full from stuffing my face full of the artichoke appetizer. Came here for a quick lunch with my mother-in-law and overall had a good meal. Not pictured is the spinach and artichoke dip, which was very cheesy and delicious. I got the traditional salad and we split a side of the cheese bread to go with it. Overall the salad was good, but the portions were very small and had a little too much salad dressing on it. I don't know why I do it to myself...I keep hoping the service will be different, but it's as though I'm a glutton for punishment. Houston's is a chain ( albeit a good one,) but it's a chain nonetheless. This location is in a strip mall with a Whole Foods 365 store and Hollywood Feed across the parking lot. They try to be elevated, but it's in a performative, patronizing way. It's not genuine and I rarely feel welcomed. Tolerated yes, but welcomed, absolutely not. I come out to eat to have a great experience and to relax. This location always feels like they're trying to rush you through your meal. My friend and I were in the process of paying our bill earlier today. I put my card down, and my friend was pulling out her wallet. One of the servers immediately came by to pick up the bill. And we say, one moment, we have another card. She literally stood at the table and waited for my friend to get her card. We were attempting to finish our conversation and other staff was rushing to remove napkins and glasses from the table. I asked if we could finish our conversation and I get a patronizing response that "this is our way...we just don't like to have clutter on the table." Then you have the GM pacing through the restaurant as though he's standing guard. It's such a weird vibe. I so miss the Lenox location. Houston's is definitely not what it used to be. read more

Houston's is always a good time. I go for the Hawaiian Ribeye, because it is amazing. I went for a celebration and out of the 5 of us, 4 of us ordered the same steak, because why not?! The ambience was more of a date spot (low lighting and intimate settings). The wait for the table was a little long, but the bartender took good care of us before we got seated so we didnt even notice how long the wait was! The spinach dip is also top tier! Houston's is known for their American classics, so we couldn't resist taking a visit to try it for ourselves. We had a reservation (which I would highly recommend you doing), but we had to wait about 20 minutes. Luckily, we were able to grab a drink at the bar while we waited. We tried a dirty martini and house margarita. They were both great and very boozy. Firstly, we tried the Spinach & Artichoke Dip. It was gooey and cheesy. The tortilla chips were fresh and salty - just the way we like them. The sour cream and salsa were nice additions, as well. Next, we had the Emerald Kale & Rotisserie Chicken Salad. It's one of our favorite salads. We've tried to create it at home, but it just never quite tastes like it does at Houston's. If you like a good salad, you've gotta try! For our entrees, we tried the Cheeseburger and the Scottish Salmon. The cheeseburger was so good and juicy. I kept wanting to eat more, but I had to stop myself. It was served with fries and I wanted a sauce to dip them in. The server recommended their house buttermilk sauce, and although it wasn't particularly similar to ranch, it was delicious. The salmon dish was probably the most disappointing item on our table, but it was still decent. We will opt for a different entree next time. Overall, good experience! We will be back! read more

I have been dining at Houston's West Paces Ferry since 1989. We stopped in after a day of shopping on our way back to Chattanooga with my mother and two granddaughters. I was told it would be a few minutes to be seated. After several minutes the hostess came back and looked us up and down and said my granddaughters did not meet the dress code due to having on rubber flip flops and did we have different shoes in the car. They are made of leather. She said she would let it slide this time but in the future we should be mindful of the policy. Well, I let her comment slide because I love Houston's and the food is always wonderful and our waitress was excellent but on the way out saw two adult women exit wearing jeans with holes and bare midriffs showing. One thing i will say about Houston's is their consistency on the taste of the food! Any & every time you come here to eat, it will have the same great taste! OMG...GM, Caelen Anstead...where do I start... My family has been loyal customers for 30+ years but no more...will never go back! Can no longer get filet cooked anything more than Medium (which is more like rare) and butterfly not an option (which always has been an option) because as corp type GM, Caelan Anstead described, can't "sacrifice integrty of meat", whatever that means. Tried to remind her that we're the customer and should not matter how we want our steak cooked, to no avail. Fact that we're the customer and Houston's telling us how we need to enjoy our steak is nothing short of morinic. My wife was so upset, she broke down crying as food is obviusly essential for humans to live and being told by GM, Caelen Anstead how she should eat is something that was frankly hard for us to comprehend. GM, Caelam Anstead was smug and neither compassionate, nor empatetic to the horrible experience we had. To that end, she had the intestinal fortitud to tell us we were in the wrong and charged us full price for the the steak, regardless of our horrible experince. In the end, our horrible experince may be a blessing as the quality of this location has been on the decline for few years while the prices have unproportionally gone up (e.g., $21 for Spinach & Artichoke dip). On a postive note, our bartender provided great srvice and was very understanding. BTW - We had few drinks and spent nearly $300 so not looking for feee lunch. read more

Houston's is an Atlanta staple. A friend and I decided to go on Monday for lunch. We opted to sit at the bar, but there was quite a bit of a wait. We didn't mind waiting, but it did take awhile. I guess everyone wanted to sit at the bar that particular day. However, the hostess was super friendly and made sure we were seated as soon as something was available. Once seated, we ordered drinks. We both ordered a lemon drop! It was so refreshing, delicious and strong. For entrees, my friend ordered the yellowtail sashimi. He said it was really good; however, I'm allergic to peanuts, so I forewent trying it! The Ding's crispy chicken sandwich is usually my go to and it didn't disappoint. It was rather frigid at the bar, which the manager tried to adjust for us, but still rather cold. Overall, it was a great time and we enjoyed ourselves. A podcast I listen to based in LA talks about Houston's all the time, and I thought it was an LA institution, but I was really surprised to stumble upon it in Atlanta while I was randomly shopping at Whole Foods. I was there at lunchtime on a Friday and dined by myself at the bar. My waiter was super friendly and attentive, and when I asked if I should try the burger or the chicken sandwich, he recommended the latter. He also told me that if it was my first time I should try the spinach dip, as it's one of the things they're known for, and it was a great rec! I know you're supposed to split it with other people, but as I was alone I ended up eating the whole thing by myself. As for the chicken sandwich, the flavor was great, but I thought it was weird that they cut it into 3 pieces. It actually kind of damaged the structural integrity of the sandwich and after a single bite, the sliver would completely fall apart and I'd end up eating it with a fork and knife instead. Just tried to make a reservation for 6 and was told, at both current locations in ATL, that "we prefer to book for an intimate experience" in a SUPER nasally, witchy voice (both locations had same tone - do they instruct on this??). I get that they're afraid to become the Cheesecake Factory, but there are other ways to avoid such a fate without losing 40+ year patrons. You're not as smart as you used to be, Houston's. read more

I can always count on a delicious meal and excellent service at Houston's! My friend and I have a standing Sunday dinner date at this location and it never disappoints. We usually try to make a reservation since they can get busy for dinner. This location has free self parking and is located in a shopping plaza attached to a Whole Foods. We usually start with the spinach dip, which comes with fresh tortilla chips and a trio of dips (salsa, sour cream, and spinach dip). The dip is warm and perfectly melty. They keep the chips flowing. Can't go wrong with the cheesy bread either, which is exactly what it sounds like and generous on the cheese. For my entree, I love getting the sashimi tuna salad. I've never really been one to get a salad as my entree, but trust me when I say this one is filling and worth it! I actually usually end up taking part of it home, it's that filling. The tuna is always fresh and never fishy and beautifully seared. My friend usually gets the kale and rotisserie chicken salad and enjoys it. The margaritas here are top notch and delightfully strong! The service is always wonderful and we know we'll always be well taken care of. It's a comforting ritual that helps with the Sunday scaries. read more

I have always been a fan of Houston's since I was a young girl. I came to visit this location for lunch and made a reservation for a booth myself. Only a 30 minute wait to the opportunity to be safe and get great service 10/10. Since this restaurant's policy is not allowing cell phones at the table, I made sure to do so to enjoy the experience. One of my favorites is the Spinach and Artichoke Dip. My waitress Kylie made sure I was taken care of with my appetitizer, water, and entree (Cheeseburger). It's been a very long time since I have visited Houston's. My boyfriend and I went last night. I had forgotten how romantic it is. We started with a cocktail - Lemon Drop Martinis. The best I've ever had! Smoked salmon was our appetizer. It was out of this world good! My boyfriend had traditional salad with grilled chicken. I had The Hawaiian with fries and corn. Oh. My. Goodness. Everything was so amazing! For dessert, pecan apple dumpling. It left us speechless! The servers, all of them, go above and beyond to please their patrons. Horrific service with rude waitstaff mirroring the passive/aggressive behavior of the manager. We had family in town for lunch and after waiting an hour, we sat down with 5 adults and a two year old. We were ignored for ~15 minutes before being told by the server they were not greeting us while they counted the people at the table. She was incredibly rude, even after 1 family member left to avoid the confrontation the manager obviously preferred. He still did not approach the table but when our daughter approached him, he said the establishment prefers small parties and no children. This restaurant used to be an upscale enjoyable experience but now they fail to see that "high-end" is not synonymous with rude and disrespectful staff. I dined with my family of three women and two children. They did not have high chairs or booster seats to accommodate us. They made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. They even lied and said that there was a noise complaint from the table nearby when in reality we knew the patrons at the table and they did not complain. Additionally, the manager Jordan Hebert came over to our table after the baby cried for 1.5 minutes and asked if he can "get anything for the little ones". As to employ that they were being too noisy. All in all. Our server was excellent but I doubt that any of us will return to Houston's. read more
