I was hesitant when I saw where it was located. It has big shoes fill. Balderas taco was a great place. Anyway, the food here is awesome. We got the chicken biryani and BBQ chicken with spice. Super disappointed in the flavors, sadly. We ordered takeout tonight. Ordered the butter chicken (extra spicy), palak paneer (spicy), garlic naan, and chicken samosa (lacking filling). While the heat was there, the actual spices and overall flavor were completely missing. We recently tried the same dishes takeout from Mayuri Express and will definitely order from them again. Just ate at Howzatt for the first time! Raj, was very accommodating! The food was delicious! I've been looking for a good Indian restaurant near my work and now I think I've found it! I ordered the D1... I can't remember the name of the dish, but it was great and had a nice kick to it! I got a sample of the mini chutney and it was super tasty and unique... Disaster! Nowhere close to authentic... Artificial color in the food doesn't go off your hand for few days... I'd never go there.

Ordered from this place, went to pick up the food after 30 minutes since I was told it would be ready by that time. Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately asked by the guy at register "why are you here? I told you 30 minutes and you just placed the order 5 minutes ago" - I am guessing Houston heat must've been tough for him to handle that day or he just doesn't know how to tell time. I thought I've experienced shitty customer service in the past but this was a new type of shitty customer service. Anyways, I did go elsewhere for food - so, I don't know the quality of the food here but after experiencing such a terrible customer service and an unnecessary situation , I would never bother trying their food. read more

This place is fantastic! The samosas are perfectly cooked to the right amount of crispiness. Make sure to get the green sauce with them, it has such an amazing flavor. I usually order the butter chicken tikka masala with garlic naan, but I have had multiple items from the menu and you really can't go wrong. This new restaurant is working on improving, I can tell. I called in a to go order and picked it up 20 minutes later. The grilled sole was cooked just right, but for mild was still too spicy for my taste as it hid the light freshness of the fish. The portions of lentils and basmati rice that went with seemed unusually small. The palag paneer spinach was fresh and okay, but I prefer the dish to be a bit more creamy. The chicken shashlik was ok too and with the leftover palag paneer will take care of lunch tomorrow. The fresh hot naan owner Raj Mahmoud provided to go with was good. The vegetable spring roll was a tad greasy. Tamarind sauce and garlic sauce were provided to augment the dishes as desired. For their dining in customers, it might be helpful to post a sign on the tables about the less common approach of ordering up front instead of at the tables (if they haven't done this already). I'm certain that dining in customers will be happier when food isn't served on foam plates, but their to-go packaging was great. If the owners are open to honing their dishes as they collect feedback that provides common sentiments, then they will hopefully prosper and the Cypress area will have another needed Indian option. read more

i don't consider myself an expert on Indo/Pak food. i was fortunate to fall in love with it over 20 years ago. so, while not an expert, i'm definitely a foodie who loves and appreciates the flavors and textures of Indian and Pakistani dishes. this was my first visit to Howzatt. i picked up my order of chicken biryani, palak paneer, butter chicken, and naan mid afternoon and set it aside for dinner time when i got home (all ordered as served, no extra spice request). so, the food sat a while before being reheated and eaten. so, here are my notes: the palak paneer was creamy, unctuous, and wonderfully spicy. the cottage cheese was amongst the best i've had. the butter chicken delivered a delicious and velvety smooth bite along with tender chicken breast slices. i added the jalepenos in the photo. the chicken biryani was incredibly flavorful and spicy. the rice was cooked to perfection. the naan was everything we want naan to be - a supple and aromatic utensil with which to create bites of the other delicious dishes. eating this food with your hands takes the experience to a new level. i'm already looking forward to my next experience. and super happy to have such great food within reach of my home. read more

I ordered the vegetable curry and a veggie samosa togo from this place the other day. I asked for it to be mild, but it was still pretty spicy so just be careful. Even though it was spicier than I wanted, the food was still delicious. I'm not sure if you're supposed to get both rice and naan, but I only got rice with my order. When I went to pickup there was no one in the front so I rang the bell but I didn't hear any response, so I rang again. I was told to wait just a moment. I couldn't tell if it was because he felt that I had rushed him but, the man working wasn't too friendly and didn't even look me in the eye! The whole time he was at the register he said nothing to me except my total. Also, I noticed he didn't have a hairnet on while working in the kitchen. Maybe he took it off when packaging the food? My new favorite place on the NW side. The food was so tasty and cooked just perfectly. We weren't entirely sure what to order so our server was able to provide perfect recommendations. We were so impressed that we asked to take out a vegetarian dish for our friends but weren't sure what to choose. Once again the recommendation from our server was spot on and everyone enjoyed a delicious meal. For a low-key, well priced, great meal my wife and I highly recommend Howzatt! read more

Probably one of the worst experiences my family and I have had at an Indian restaurant. Thick sauces covering essentially frozen chicken wings that were reheated leaving you to guess at what you may or may not be putting in your mouth. I would recommend going elsewhere.... like McDonalds over this place. read more

This is the best South Asian restaurant we've been to in Houston. The green chutney that came with the veg samosa was just amazing; it was fruity, garlicky, acidic, and fresh. Wow that was a good intro. The gravy for the chicken korma was subtle, rich, and delightful, We kept eating the gravy and rice even after the meat was gone. The dal and palak paneer were great, even the rice was steamed delicately, and was fluffy, not dried and dead. We are coming back. read more

Can't believe all these great ratings considering our experience. Family night dinner was ruined by this place. Ordered at 5:15 pm, delivery wasn't even ready until after 7pm, the driver kept us updated. The food finally arrived and it was short 3 of 7 items ordered, what kind of place can't keep track of 7 items and the driver reported that there were only 4 customers in the whole place while she waited for an hour! Had the butter chicken, lamb curry, and spinach with cheese (forgot what it's called haha). Food was delicious, but small portions for how much they costed each. They give you so much bread for each dish, but give you so little rice. Overall, the quality of the food was great! Just wish the portions weren't so small and expensive. read more

I will never come here again! There is no order in this place. All of the front service people also go to the back to prepare the orders. No one in the kitchen wears hair nets so I unfortunately found 3 hairs in my meal. I complained but they said that they do wear hair nets even though I clearly see that they don't. No soap in the bathrooms. The man that brought out our food had really foul body odor, and was putting down the plates rather roughly, as if he were feeding animals. First ever restaurant with a cricket theme is what attracted me to try out this place. Decor is awesome and is very unique. The place is BYOB so that's another plus. Picked up a 6 pack from next door and went it. The service was good and the food came out really fast and was awesome. Order the samosa as an appetizer. You won't regret it. So far I have tried the goat curry and the chicken curry. Both dishes were delicious and very good. Will try out more dishes in my next visits. Worst food and customer service ever. I order butter chicken and they gave me chicken tiki masala. He also mentioned that they ran out of rice and that he was going to see if he can make some. Tried for the first time today and was blown away! We ordered pani poori, palok paneer, veggie Biryani, and Chana masala. Everything was delicious and had perfect spice! The owner insisted we eat while everything was hot so it would taste best and asked if we enjoyed everything after our meal, he really wanted to make sure we had a good experience. Rolled in at 9:30 (they close at 10) and still had the best experience. The owner Raj was so friendly and his wife was an amazing chef! Ordered the Chicken Butter Masala (of course) and asked them to do Chicken Palak in lieu of Paneer only if it wasn't a big deal and not only did he kindly oblige, it was delicious. Still kicking myself for being "that customer" at 9:30 but just thankful they were so gracious! Also had the garlic naan and rice pudding, both were exceptional.
