    Fried dumplings with sauce
    Henry D.

Another food adventure at a relatively new restaurant. I love pan fried potstickers and dumplings so a friend and I saw this restaurant on one of our trips to Chinatown. We happened to park by the old Housewives Market and walked through the restaurants. We saw Huangcheng Potstickers. We decided to try an order of steamed dumplings and an order of fried dumplings. Both dumplings were good but they don't have very much seasoning. I'm not a sauce guy so I thought the dumplings were good but not my taste. My friend thought the sauce gave it flavor but wasn't to his taste either. It could be that Shanxi style cooking is an acquired taste. The fried dumplings were good but didn't have any crisp to them so we probably should have ordered the fried potstickers. We both will try the restaurant again but will try the potstickers on our next trip. We both thought the dumplings were 3 stars and another star for customer staff. The staff were very polite and quick to take your order. I rated them a generous 4 stars and will update my review after my next trip. New restaurants are always worth a try. If you like Shanxi cooking, definitely give this place a try.

Great dumplings from the same owners of Husngcheng noodles. I ordered the pork dumplings. Nice hint of ginger You can also get them to go!

Huangcheng potstickers are the newest restaurant to Swan's Market. They make house made dumplings. The potstickers are pan fried with a crispy texture and the dumplings are steamed. We ended up ordering steamed pork dumplings - the sauce on the side with the house made chili sauce was so tasty. The dumplings maybe be small but they do give you 18 pieces, which I thought was great. The dumplings here were DELICIOUS. I can't wait to come back for more!

HuangCheng potstickers, located inside the Swans Market, offers Oaklanders another tasty option to their line up of fast-casual restaurants and eateries. Similar to their first restaurant - HuangCheng Noodle House, you can expect fresh hand-made offerings (dumplings, potstickers, and pickled cucumbers) that is made to order. Their dumplings and potstickers are bite-sized and you get 18 pieces for each order (about ~$1 per dumpling). I was curious about trying their Chicken Curry, but decided to try out their dumplings and potstickers, as the other 4 reviews have focused on. The menu was very simple and our order was ready in that 5-7 minute that was quoted. Although tasty, my dumplings did not have much of a satisfying 'bite' as there wasn't any crunch or texture. The potstickers offered a crispiness, as it was lightly fried, but the filling wasn't as warm as the dumplings. I do wish that they had combination (shrimp, pork, and chives), as that would elevate the umami and add a bit of extra texture to the dumplings.

Located in a market, so you order and seat yourself. Our food was brought over to us. Super yummy and fast! We will be coming back :)

Newly open just few months ago. The menu is very limited. The potstick is badly made. The shape doesn't look like a potsticker. Each potsticker isn't pan fried enough. Look and taste uncooked. I ordered a shrimp potsticker. The tatse is terrible.

Me and my brah AJ just yeeted ourselves into Huang Cheng Potsticker and got insta-teleported to Flavortown.. The crew flips the skillet and--BAM--this lacy, golden potsticker UFO lands, crispier than burnt bacon. Pork dumplings explode with garlicky ginger heat; the shrimp ones slap harder than a surprise For You Page drop, all ocean-fresh and juicy. Wrappers are thinner than my willpower but still keep that steamy lava contained. A dunk in their soy-vinegar lightning, a drizzle of chili crisp, and suddenly we're riding a savory tsunami straight to "chef's kiss" heaven. Two rounds demolished--next visit we're bringing sweatpants and zero chill. Werk.

These potstickers are amazing, as are the dumplings. And the atmosphere in Swann's is the best of Oakland: fun, vibrant, multicultural and delicious!

These pots are great!! You can get them steamed or fried and although they're small they give you 20 for about $18.00, so lots to share.

This time, we ordered a few dishes to try - the classic sesame paste noodles, Shan Dong chicken, the fried rice with shrimp, and the hot spicy eggplant. Since we did order delivery on a busy Saturday night, it took a little over an hour for our food to arrive. The food was expertly packed and we were given plenty of utensils and napkins. The sesame paste noodles are one of my favorite dishes here, there's a balance of sweet and salty offered in the creamy sesame paste sauce that's so addicting. I've always been a big fan of the hand-pulled noodles which are thick, bouncy and chewy. The Shan Dong chicken is deep fried and coated in a delicious sauce. It is more of the sweeter side if you're looking for something that's spicy. I appreciate that we were given large pieces as well! The fried rice with shrimp is amazing - I love the crunch of the green onion, the softness of the fried egg, and the texture of the rice and veggies which weren't soggy and still held a nice bite. Last but not least, the hot spicy eggplant was a great choice because it's usually the trickier dish to cook as eggplant can turn really soft and mushy. I was delighted that with the way it was prepared, the large eggplant pieces still held a tender texture that did not fall apart. I also enjoyed the sauce that was paired with the eggplant, which is oyster-sauce based and added a pleasant sweetness as well. I'm always looking forward to my next visit and I love supporting Shan Dong!

After walking around to visit the many vendors, I decided to have lunch at Yung Kee on the corner of 9th & Webster Streets. One of my friends has dined here and recommended this restaurant for lunch. After perusing the menu, the choices were narrowed to chicken congee or shrimp and scrambled eggs over rice. The congee would have been good and the weather was cool. However, the last time I had shrimp and scrambled eggs over rice was at a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco near my job in the Civic Center area over 12 years ago. Eats: shrimp and scrambled eggs over rice and a pot of hot tea. Drizzled with some soy sauce, my dish was delicious. The hot tea was perfect, flavorful and soothing when I drank about 5 cups. This was total comfort food and beverage that I almost doze off in the restaurant. For $15, it was a good deal. The only drawback was one of the employees was mopping the floor when I was eating my lunch. I will return in the future to have lunch again. I might even order food to go for dinner.
