Stringbean tofu lunch w/brown rice, fresh veggies & sesame balls $10.95 To go
    Donna N.

Take out only for lunch today ! ? She has a variety of wonderful lunch specials available, that come with either chowmein, fried rice or brown or white rice plus there are extra sautéed veggies ( broccoli, cabbage & onions included ) My favorite is the stringbeans & tofu !! We went across the street to a bench in the parking lot to eat our lunches. Very tasty & she even included some sesame balls !! Service is very quick & food is always yummy !! It's too bad she doesn't have inside seating anymore - it's spacious & nicely decorated

Finally I found a great old school authentic Chinese place! Chow fun is how it should be, and wide noodles with great flavor. Decent prices and good portion. Waitress even so nice she gave me a few sesame balls for dessert that were delicious! Only downside is take out only. Would love to sit for lunch sometime. Definitely will be back!

We always enjoy the food here. It seems fresh and well made with simple flavors that feel like eating home Food.

The website listed here is AI generated? The featured photo is a large piece of glass that someone found in their food and posted to Yelp. I called the restaurant to place an order and they did not answer, so I found them on Uber Eats and placed an order for pickup. When I got there, the person who handed me the food told me "call us to place an order, if you order through UberEats, every dish is $2-3 dollars more." I ordered their seafood on pan-fried noodles, salt and pepper pork, and dry braised string beans. I was 10 mins late to pick up, so I understand some of the food got soggy from steam inside the boxes. HOWEVER, the pan-fried noodles were so stale that it was inedible. The pork was extremely salty and most of the pieces turned out to be bones that were battered and fried. It could have been better balanced with plain rice (which was not included), so I had to make some at home to pair with the leftovers. The green beans seemed undercooked and limp, but I don't know if that's from steaming in the box. (I miss the days when it was expected for all Chinese restaurants to include white rice instead of charging $3-6 per individual bowl... but that's not Holly's Mandarin's fault.) I think this food could have been greatly improved if we were able to eat it fresh but they only do take-out at this time.

They say it's take out only but they let us sit with the other patrons that were there. They seat with reservation but made an exception. The waitress was really nice & the food came out quickly & was tasty. I was full but still had a small portion left so well worth the price for me

Great food, reasonable prices. You can park in the CVS parking lot and walk across the Piedmont Ave. to pick up your order.

My favorites are the Shandong chicken and their signature hand-pulled noodles, so delicious! They are a popular spot so depending on when you go, can be a bit of a wait to get seated. And yet, the crowds keep on lining up to dine here. One of their highlight dishes was the Sesame Paste Noodles, made of super chewy noodles mixed with spinach and a deliciously creamy, slightly sweet sesame paste. Another must-try dish was the Special Shan Dong Dumplings, a thick-skinned dumpling filled with minced pork and vegetables. We also tried the House Special Pancake Stuffed with Leeks, a set of three pan-fried pies with a filling of chives, vermicelli, egg, and woodear mushrooms; the Dry Braised Green Beans, stir-fried with black beans and preserved vegetables; the Sautéed On-Choy; and Sliced Fish with zucchini, woodear mushrooms, peas, and carrots in a mild sauce. Overall, the dishes here came in generous portions at decent prices and made for a delicious, balanced meal. The vibe might be loud and the service rude, but the food was worth a visit!

Definitely very filling. Chicken is very tender and juicy. Don't be afraid of the pink or red in the bone, it's myoglobin and still safe to eat. Roast Duck 4.5/5 It's nicely roasted, tender and juicy. The sauce is very flavorful and tasty. Ambience 4/5 Very quick and casual small dining area. When we first walked in, no other diners were there which made me a little suspicious. We were promptly seated and offered hot tea though so we were locked in. I initially ordered to seafood claypot but was told it takes 45 minutes...so pivoted to chicken wonton soup (no noodles). My partner got kung pao chicken. while we waited for our food, a handful of people came in to pick up their to go orders, which made me feel better. Another party eventually dined in as well. Fyi the interior isn't much to write home about but comfortable. Then the food came. My soup was freaking delicious! Loads of chicken meat (just chopped up with the bones so be careful for shards), plenty of dumplings, and the broth was sooo good! I couldn't finish and took some left overs home; the next day, my soup coagulated (full of collagen)!! Partner enjoyed their kung Pao chicken but said they'd order something else next time. Best part - our meals + tax came out to less than $40! Gawd I love Chinatown!

With that said although Yu Yu is located in a pretty sketch area of Oakland/Berkeley, I would still recommend eating here just for its authenticity. They seem to have a parking lot in the back but we manage to find street parking in the front. You're better off looking for parking in the back than the front due to limited spaces. As for the food it was delicious. For the jajangmyeon you are given the noodles separately from the sauce; this allows you to pour in as much or as little as you want. I personally felt their flavors were mild enough that I poured in the whole thing. As for the tang su yook, it comes with a sweet and sour sauce that's bomb dot com. Even as stuffed as I was with the jajangmyeon, I managed to still find it in myself to finish the last bits of the tang su yook. Highly recommend. The restaurant itself seems to be newly renovated; don't let the rough exterior fool you. The inside was nice and clean but they only have room for four large tables that can fit a parties of 6, and the rest range from parties of 2-4. Last but not least service, they seem to run lean and understaffed but the gentlemen working did his best. Just be mindful if you come at a busy time you may have to wait. Overall looking forward to coming back here!
