This place was amazing! From customer service to food! We were seated within 10 mins of arrival. Tink was the host that sat us and was really helpful with helping us figure out what to order. She took the time to chat with us and give her recommendations. We loved her energy and honesty. Vianny was a server and she was just as great! She gave her recommendations and told us what the popular items were. My husband ordered a chicken fried steak and said it was great! I went with the chicken and waffles and a side of the bayou reds. I asked for creole seasoning on the side and same ranch dressing to give it a bit more flavor. We also ordered the fried green tomatoes which are a must even if you're not a tomato fan! For drinks I had the peach swamp tea which were topped with real peaches and my husband had the iced caramel macchiato both were delicious! I did enjoy the Southern tea and the Huckleberry jam was delicious. My beignet a bit heavy and not the light fluffy fritters I was expecting. The New Orleans skillet sounded good (sausage, cheese, shrimp, mushrooms) but the flavors didn't stand out ( to be fair, the food is probably much better at the restaurant). We decided to try this place for breakfast this morning it is located where the old Mels diner used to be in Concord. First of all, I must say that the service is very good. All of the people that worked there were very friendly and the place looked very clean. It was also decorated very pleasantly and looked almost like a restaurant you would see at Disney. Now on to the food.The breakfast that I had was the chicken and waffles. The the waffles were pretty good. Very soft and tasted really fresh. Eggs are pretty darn close to impossible to mess up. The chicken did not taste good at all. I almost didn't eat it. It tasted like it had been cut from one of the least desirable cuts of the chicken and I could taste some joints inside it. My wife had the veggie omelet and she liked it very much. All in all it was OK. I wouldn't say it's any better than Denny's or Buttercup Pantry. The service was impeccable though. read more

I went here for the first time over Memorial weekend, and I was very happy that I visited! We were a party of two, so we were seated immediately, I noticed that any party over 4 people had a decent wait ahead of them. But, even if you have to wait, it's worth it! The portion sizes are big, and I mean big! I got a skillet with country fried chicken and it could feed two people easily. The service was great, our waitress was at our table taking our order within a minute of us sitting down. Our waitress was friendly, considerate and prompt. There are several Louisiana -themed menu items including beignets, fried green tomatoes and andouille sausage. I got the crab cake benedict and we shared a plate of beignets; the crab cake was perfectly cooked: crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and well seasoned. The hollandaise sauce was flavorful, the eggs were perfectly poached and the English muffin was a bit crispy. The potatoes were well seasoned, and the beignets were massive, crispy & fluffy with various fruity syrups to dip them in. My wife loved her peach iced tea, which had little chunks of peach in it. Her bananas foster french toast tasted amazing, but her favorite was the fried green tomatoes. We'll definitely be coming back! read more

There's this strong smell of sewage leakage upon entering the restaurant. As well my girlfriend said "It's very strong!" in the women's bathroom. We gave them three chances. The first time we went, the wait was over an hour long, but eventually we were seated and eventually our order was taken. The wait staff was polite, but most of our food came incorrect. We rarely send food back but we had to. We tried them again, hoping that the first time was just because they were so busy. The staff was good, but, again, the kitchen got our food wrong. We ate it anyway, and tipped well because the waitstaff seemed to be trying very hard. We went again today. Several members of the waitstaff seemed to have difficulty keeping their masks over their noses but... None of the cooks were wearing masks. Or hairnets. Or gloves. We felt uncomfortable, especially since most of the people in the waiting area weren't wearing masks either. So we left. We are still in a mask mandated time period, and this is not acceptable. Especially for the people making food. We will not be giving them a fourth chance. read more

If you are in the mood for some well executed comfort food, this is a great diner to try out. Huckleberry's has a New Orleans theme but don't take it too seriously. It is an inspiration for their menu, not a place for people looking for a New Orleans experience. Trust me, you will not get it if that is what you are looking for. We had an awesome experience. There were about twenty people waiting to be seated when we arrived, but we were pleased to find out the wait was only 10-15 minutes. The staff did an excellent job at keeping things moving and we were sat quickly. We asked our server Isabel for suggestions, and she pointed us in the right direction. The beignets were hot, fresh and light and the homemade biscuits were fresh, moist and delicious. Although the food was excellent and we left satiated and happy, the highlight of our experience was Isabel. She was warm, kind, funny, and incredibly attentive. We love service like the kind Isabel provided and appreciated getting lucky enough to be served by her. Thank you, Isabel, for a great breakfast on Halloween morning! A lot of parking spaces, located right off a main road. Greeted right away when we came in. Ask if we were dining in then asked for our vaccination cards. Seated quickly, the table wasn't clean and the guy apologized and cleaned it for us - it looked perfectly fine but he was very sweet. We ordered and got our food all in 5-10 minutes so it was pretty quick service. We got: Beignets - these were hot and served with 3 different fruit compotes + some kind of sweet cream/cream cheese. All very good. Beignets themselves were hot and reminded me of a more airy croissant. They were good but definitely could be better, I'd say the fruit saved this. 6/10 Crab cake beni - I'm not typically a beni person but i do like crab cakes. They were a good portion and tasty. The avocado was ripe and the poached egg was perfection. I am a bit biased here because it came over medium/soft boiled (think ramen egg consistency) which i totally love. It may be an issue if people want their eggs runny. I don't care for hollandaise so i got it on the side, it wasn't bad but again, not my cuppa tea. I also got the country potatoes and these were meh. The bell peppers were a little much and we're still slightly raw and over powered the potatoes. 8/10 Steak and eggs - asked for medium rare but came closer to medium well. Still an ok cut of meat. Eggs were cooked over medium and were good too. 7/10 Overall a good breakfast place with some solid options and super friendly/quick service. I dont write reviews often, mostly because most dining experiences are adequate at worst. Its rare to find a breakfast place that left me entirely unsatisfied. It just opened so its extremely busy, but waits were actually not long. Table for 2 took only 20 minutes at 9:30am. The servers and everyone were all polite and attentive. The issue was the food and how completely bland it was. First we were offered to try out their beignets, which they advertised to every table around like it was their signature item. Decided to try them don't. An order includes 3 large beignets. Now looking at their menu, it shows fresh fruit around them and clearly states they have a sweet cream filling...except they dont. They were extremely dry first of all. They tasted like a stale grocery store muffin. They had no cream filling in them and the fruit was just a slather of what looked like strawberry, peach and huckleberry pie filling. The sweet cream was just mixed in to that slather instead of actually filling the beignets. Even with the fruit topping it was extremely bland and barely had any powdered sugar on them. I would not recommend getting these. Next, our entrees. I ordered the chicken and waffle stack. It was hand breaded chicken, inside 2 large waffle halves with Sriracha aoili, syrup and a pecan-maple butter. Again, the waffles had absolutely no flavor. Extremely bland and the dish was better overall just eating the chicken. The chicken had a good flavor and consistency, and the Sriracha aioli was pretty good with a ting of heat to it. I expected all the flavors combined to be a pow of flavor in the mouth, but it was overall very bland. My wife had the Tom's Scramble, which she liked. I tasted some of it. The chicken fried steak was passable. Again it didn't have that pow of flavor you'd expect from chicken fried steak from let's say Diggers Diner. They also forgot to put gravy on it and we had to ask to be brought some. The potatoes that came with her scramble were actually really good and the only thing I ate that actually felt like it had any flavor. Overall the atmosphere, service, wait times were all great. I had no issues with those. The food on the other hand....was barely passable for the prices. With Black Bear Diner and Diggers Diner not too far away from this location, I cannot recommend Huckleberry. Both other choices offer significantly better food for a better price. I wish this place had remained a Mel's Diner because the food there was better than the food Huckleberry has to offer. read more

Huckleberry's replaces Mel's Drive-In near Treat Plaza. They are open for breakfast and lunch from 7 am to 3 pm. I went with my family for lunch around 1:30 pm on their first Saturday weekend. The wait time was probably 25 minutes at most. While customers were patiently waiting both inside and outside to be seated, two friendly servers graciously came outside and asked if anyone wanted iced cold waters since it was very warm out. First impressions are everything so I knew immediately that our service would be great. Huckleberry's is a Cajun themed restaurant with bayou influences. Fruity iced teas and lemonades are served in wide mouth mason jars rimmed with sugar. Breakfast specialties include Chicken and Waffles, Cajun Benedict with andouille sausage, and Chicken Fried Steak. During lunch you will find the Louisiana Catfish, Spicy Bayou Chicken and Shrimp Po-Boy sandwiches. And don't forget to order the Mardi Gras Beignets, a classic dessert or snack any time of the day. You get three fluffy beignets filled with a hint of vanilla cream accompanied with strawberry, peach, and huckleberry fruit topping dusted with powdered sugar. Perfect for sharing. Since we were here for lunch, we tried one of their specials- the Stacked Chicken and Waffles. Similar to Chicken and Waffles but as a "sandwich" with butter-crisp waffles, Sriracha aioli, maple-pecan butter, crispy bacon, a drizzle of ranch, and green onions. Definitely a fork and knife type of meal and definitely delicious. If you don't eat it immediately, the waffles can get mushy from all the maple syrup and butter. The Shrimp Po-Boy was overflowing with shrimp on a sourdough roll. This sandwich was huge. The fries were just average. The Spicy Bayou Chicken sandwich was too salty for my taste. If you eat the chicken on its own, its fine. I think it's the Frank's hot sauce that makes it very salty. Same with the pickle chips. They seemed salty. My lips were getting itchy. And that's when I knew I was overloaded with sodium. I had to take more sips of my Huckleberry Lemonade to wash down the salt. Haha The servers were very friendly and attentive. Our food came out pretty quickly considering how busy the restaurant was. So far we like this place! Kudos to a wonderful first week! We will be back for breakfast soon! read more

SO, I live like a mile from this place so when they opened up a couple months ago I was super excited to have a breakfast spot so near by. It didn't matter that it was a chain. It was Creole themed! Exciting. When I got there it reminded me of my days in restaurants, when we opened a new location. Tons of kids in their late teens and early 20s, WAY too excited to help you find a seat and get fed. The menu is like any IHOP/Denny's/Village Inn menu. Lots of hi-res photos of perfect delicious looking food and tons of options for any mood or palate. I always order to much at places like this just to get an idea of what they're doing here. It's fun. I ordered and unfortunately, the fun ended there. Each item to hit the table was more disappointing than the next. The appetizer LOOKED amazing. Just like the photo. Impressive. I have NO idea how they made what is essentially fried dough and sugar essentially flavorless. The only things I could definitely taste was the oil and the sugar. No other ingredients were present. The entree had a few items on the plate. None of which had any real flavor of their own. They again LOOKED great. Excellent presentation. NO flavor. I feel like this is the biggest issue. It feels like betrayal, like I was lied to. Not only that, it feels like this food SPITS in the face of things that are DESIGNED to be flavorless! Things like Chalk! Or Iocane Powder! Or the Pseudo-Halogenic Compound Cyanogen! How DARE you Huckleberry's!?!?! How dare you. Won't be back. :-( read more

I've been driving by Huckleberry's since it opened, I had a very rare day off , Monday, so I made a U turn and said " why not" I was on my way to Big Daddy Ross Cafe in Bay Point which is about a 10 minute drive from Huckleberry's. I was seated it took almost 5 minutes for a server to appear, I was just about to leave when my server Joann appeared. Joann does seem to be very efficient at her job, she is very pleasant and when the table next to me was seated she immediately took care of them, so seeing this was nice. Perhaps Joann was on her break when I was seated and not told someone was in her station? While looking at the menu I had a view of the Kitchen. I was a little disturbed watching what the woman who seated me,practicing not so good kitchen habits, everyone eats in a kitchen, it's a must to wash your hands after you put your hands in your mouth. I witnessed this woman put food into her mouth, then reach down and it looked like she grabbed a biscuit to be plated, not cool. I ordered the 1/2 waffle with eggs over easy, with bacon and red potatoes., with the huckleberry sauce on the side. It was just okay, nothing too say, "wow this is good," in fact my eggs were over medium. Joann was very attentive making sure her tables were being taken care of. It's a simple menu. Big Daddy Ross serves the best breakfast in the area , but a friend of mine liked Huckleberry's so I thought I'd give it a try. My 3 stars are for the nice service I received from Joann. The ham was so thick I couldn't even finish one side. The eggs and the hollindase sauce had an odd texture and taste and the potatoes were garbage. Absolutely delicious! We ordered the Mardi Gras beignets. They came with the huckleberry, peach and strawberry preserves. No need to go to New Orleans to enjoy these decadents. The primary reason we came here!! We also ordered the Mississippi Skillet. The biscuits and gravy were amazing!I am not a breakfast person, but really enjoyed this. Their portions are generous. My husband and I shared the beignets and the skillet. We could've shared it with another person. I prefer making breakfast at home, but I can can honestly say, this was the best breakfast ever.
