Found this whole in the wall and was not disappointed at all. Maybe some changes should be made with a dish, but the service there was amazing and they were super sweet. Came in on a Monday morning and luckily no was there. It is a bit of a small location, but very homey. The Jose omelet - 9/10 my husband ordered it. It has spinach, mushroom and bacon. He substituted the mushrooms for onions. he absolutely loved it. super friendly with the portion and of course he ate it all. His one complaint was the hash browns. He didn't like how mash potatoe-y they came out, but I loved it - LOL. The Greek omelet - 7/10 I loved all the ingredients in this omelet until I tasted the olives. They use pizza olives instead of kalamata olives. I 100% think that if they used kalamata olives instead, it would have been a great omelet. It came with sausage, tomatoes, feta and asparagus. And of course their hash brown was also a fav for me too. Overall: 9/10 The experience with the staff was really great. They are super sweet, fast and on top of everything. I love finding hidddn gems like these. We came here for brunch after my birthday massage. It was delightful. I ordered the crab avocado toast. It was so yummy. Lots of flavor and texture. I do wish they put more chunks of crab in it, but I am grateful for the pieces I got! There seemed to be more avocado than anything. The hashbrowns were great, crunchy and soft on the inside. My husband ordered a breakfast chorizo burrito which was also really good! We love how the tortilla taste fresh and crunchy. Would definitely order that again! Service was great. We were taken care of the sweet attentive employees there. This cafe is a true small but quaint cafe. I prefer coming to places like these versus big trendy spots. read more

I think this is now called Han cafe, but they kept all the signage the same from when it was Plaza cafe. The food was alright. This is our second time coming here, so it's not terrible but it gets the job done. I got an eggs Benedict. The hashbrowns could be crispier. I went with a friend and they got an omelette which came with toast. Toast was a little on the burned side, which is weird because the hashbrowns weren't as crisp. They do get busy, but things move pretty fast. Also, it gets hot inside, so they'll open the door but the breeze is crazy! Dress in layers just in case. read more

Had the Jose Scramble, which has chicken apple sausage, spinach and mushrooms plus the Soonie scramble with chicken. Both were good and were served with a lot of hash browns. The Kyu's Scramble on the menu really piqued my interest. The description was "Ground Beef, Jack Cheese, Spinach, Mushroom & Onion", and also "Served with Hash Browns & Toast". It was priced at $15.50 as of Feb 2024. Egg price has been ridiculously high so I did notice and understand why they increased the price. My plate came to me looking amazing. The scrambled eggs were perfect - firm but not dry. And the whole dish felt very hearty with good sized beef chunks. The inside was a bit tight and slightly claustrophobic. Overall not a bad experience. I was a little surprised -as well as disappointed - that they did not offer biscuits and gravy. I ordered the chicken fried steak - all right, but not home made. They also only offer hash browns - you can tell they prepare their own and are good. they make their own gravy as well and you can tell. I have eaten here before but I can't believe I forgot to do a review of this place. I was going for lunch today with a friend and I knew I wanted to order a Benedict. Florentine is my favorite, so I am happy they had this on the menu. The service was pretty attentive and it felt like a "ma and pa" feeling behind it. Eggs Florentine: The key to a Benedict to me are both the poached eggs and the Hollandaise sauce. This place hit both for me. The eggs were poached correctly and when broken, it did spill all over the English muffin, spinach and Canadian bacon. The sauce itself was superb and flavorful, perfect for me. The hash browns were alright, though could be a bit crispier. Overall though, I really enjoyed this meal and look forward to coming back again. read more

DON'T DO IT! There are so many better places, including Nations Hamburgers just a few steps away. Horrible coffee. No refills on soda. Everything is sticky. The most basic menu, but for some reason it's overpriced. And the worst radio station is on, and too loud. One extra star for a nice fruit cup that included 1 raspberry, 1 strawberry, and 1 piece of pineapple along with apple, banana, and too much melon. HOWEVER, minus one star because--though it's not listed in the menu where they offer to substitute fruit or tomatoes for hash browns--THEY CHARGE OVER $2 TO SUBSTITUTE FRUIT. Absolute BS. Also, someone is in here with a non-service dog that is sitting at a booth table, licking plates. By the reaction from staff, you can tell they're regulars and do this all the time. That is DISGUSTING and against code. That no one says anything tells me all I need to know about their kitchen. The ketchup bottles are refilled, which Heinz discourages. The Cholula bottle is so old the cap is oily and no longer tightens. Was hoping after 12 years things would have improved. Nope. We stopped here for breakfast based on the great reviews. This is a small, no frills place. Our server was nice and food came relatively quickly. My hubs ordered a basic breakfast with bacon and eggs. His first choice was linguica but they were out so bacon it is. I could tell the bacon seemed fatty and was not crispy at all. I ordered the eggs Benedict. I couldn't really taste it since the sauce covered the entire thing. Unfortunately the sauce did not have much flavor to it and it overwhelmed my entire dish. The hash browns were nice and crispy. Overall it was okay, I'm not sure why the reviews were so high, I was left underwhelmed and will not be coming back unfortunately. read more

Terrible. We received our toast 10 mins before our food. Then received only part of my breakfast and had to wait another 10 mins before I got the main part of my dish. I even asked the waitress if the steak was good and she said yes. The steak was not even seasoned and not good. Just the fact that nothing came out at the same time. Every dish came out 10 mins apart. I was done with my eggs and had browns before the steak even arrived. Very disappointed and will not ever return. This place once was once a really good spot to go to but it had been years so it must have new owners. Sad about it. read more

Went for a later breakfast over the weekend. About 10:30 AM and the place was substantially busy. There was only 2 free tables, both by doors, which to me is unenjoyable, especially when the weather is brisk and they leave the doors open. This place is super tiny and they cram a lot of tables into the space. Long staple to the pleasant hill community, I can see why they get good business as they've been around forever and the food is surprisenly tasty so must be a lot of regulars. The food is very standard diner fare; Nothing extravagant or unusual....The decor, blah. All the tables and chairs are old and too tightly together....dirty windows and mirrors along the wall with the kitchen.....which is basically open to the dining area. We opted for French toast with berries. This comes with WARM berries which was an amazing touch, some marcepone and syrup. Only 2 pieces and it's plated flat so nothing eye catching. Comes with a side of 2 pieces of bacon, does not come with eggs. We also got an omelets which was HUGE, comes with hashbrowns and toast. Nothing spectacular about the omelets. All the toppings are inside, not even cheese on the outside for presentation, but it was filled with a good amount of filling. Also got a waffle.....which the waffle was very very thing. This is not a Belgian waffle like you expect from most breakfast joints. While the food is not visually amazing, the taste is there to back it up. 4 stars for food and service (the 2 maybe 3 person small staff on floor was swamped), 3 stars for seating as I do wish there was a few less tables even if that meant a wait to be seated. Dined here for over 3 decades and now it is just not the same. They were known for consistent quality. Just had the eggs Benedict and they changed from Canadian to tasteless ham. Ordered a side of bacon because they were always known for thick special bacon - it's gone too! Noticed on the way out there was a pile of precooked bacon. Guess nothing lasts forever! We have been here for breakfast twice in the past month, and we love it. The friendly atmosphere resembles an authentic American diner, and there seem to be many regulars. Prices are reasonable, and the portions are substantial. Yesterday, we both enjoyed one of the daily specials. I had an omelet with sausage, spinach, cheese, and tomatoes. It was delicious, served with a generous portion of crispy shredded hash browns. My companion had the crab melt sandwich on sourdough. It was huge, with a generous amount of crab. The sandwich came with a large side salad in a separate bowl, filled with lettuce, beets, kidney beans, olives, tomatoes, croutons, and cucumbers. Our waitress was charming and extremely helpful. She kept returning to check on us and refill my coffee cup, which is free on weekdays. We think Plaza Café is a Pleasant Hill treasure and will undoubtedly be returning often. read more

We went for breakfast. Place was freezing, I guess their furnace was broken. "Greasy spoon" about covers the feeling inside, which normally I'm fine with, but not here. Food was not good. We didn't finish most of it. Service was good, but not necessarily friendly. Going through the kitchen to get to the bathroom was scary. Health inspectors need to take a look at the entire place.
