This was a really good place to eat; highly recommend the Mississippi and the beignets. Only 3 beignets come in the order but they are nice and big in case you need to share. We were out visiting my husband who's currently away from home due to work, he had eaten at this place before so when we went he wanted to bring us here so bad and he didn't let us down. This place is something else in the little town of Benicia. The service is great and our server made sure to check up on us. I order Huck's Combo (French toast, two eggs, and two pieces of bacon) and a side of jambalaya rice (which was amazing with a little kick at the end) and had Huck's Swamp tea (made with huckleberries). Dad brought us here for brunch today. I'm in love with their Huck's Swamp Tea! It's sweet tea with huckleberries. So if you like grapes and blueberries it's what it tasted like. Went here 2 times before I decided to write this. The 1st time was amazing! Service, quality if food and wait time. I was very impressed especially on a Saturday morning. Our waitress was very friendly, asked us enough if we needed anything but not to much were we got annoyed. Beignets are super delish. We split it between the 3 of us. Chicken and Waffles were on point. No syrup needed! The Cajun Benedict were on Texas Toast (my fav)! Went there on a Friday morning and the food was just okay. Service was a bit slow but our waitress was pretty decent. Didnt make that extra step to see if we were ok, needed refills or anything else. Just can i take your order and put the food on the table. This time I ordered the omelet with the shrimp and avocado... it was very fishy like they cooked it in sea water. Eggs didn't have taste and was just kinda disappointed. The other food that was ordered was bland as well. Parking is pretty open, wait time to be seated is not to bad, ambiance is relaxing and cozy. Drinks are in mason jars. I wasn't notified that they were out of the other two items, Until I received my order. The food I did receive was pretty bad. The red potato's tasted like someone washed a pan, left the soap in it and started cooking potatoes. The crepes were basically a greasy pancake that they rolled up with banana pudding inside instead of actual bananas. I've wanted to support our local businesses and give Huckleberry's another chance but I can't stomach it another time, I ordered the chicken fried steak with mash potatoes and gravy, it was horrible, steak had no flavor what so ever as well as the gravy and the mash potatoes had to be the worse I've ever eaten, I had three bites and threw it in the garbage and will never return there. I returned today 08/21/2019 to give it one more chance and ordered the catfish dinner and it was so bad I called the manager and ask when did they purchased the fish because it was so old the taste was so fishy tasting tells me they've had it for quite a while and the manager just walked away without saying a word, in my opinion this place isn't worth having in our community, I'm done with it!!!!! read more

This is located in a strip mall with single story buildings and very easy to find. Our server was fantastic. There were 6 of us in the party and we were well attended to. Food prices, quantity and presentation was pretty good. We started with 2 orders of beignets, sweet potato fries, fried green tomatoes and fried okra. For our dishes we ordered shrimp Poboy, fried fish combo, a breakfast burrito, and other breakfast combo meals. Minus one star due to 3 of us thought our order was very salty. The Poboy's fried shrimp was so salty you couldn't taste the shrimp or any Cajun seasoning which is unfortunate because they put a lot of battered shrimp on the sandwich. There is no need to over salt food because there is table salt for those who crave salt. The salt on the fries could be seen from across the table. I am assuming whoever was placed in charge of the deep frying got too carried away with salt. I know it was busy and there were other large parties but still, the chef should have checked this and not let it get served with that much salt. Otherwise, the food was fine. TODAY: Very empty place so I figured it would be good tasting and fast. Nope. 10 minutes in the seat and waitress asks if anyone has taken my drink order. Nope. But actually I already know what I want, so did it al at once. Omelets with hash browns and a side of pancakes. The omelet came and tasted weird. Flipped it over and it was severely overcooked. Hash browns were pure white and were so cold. I told the server that a burned omelet and frozen hash browns should have never made it to service. I'm done. $18.50 for a pancake and coffee. This restaurant gets 5 (10, if I could) stars for its service. The wait staff are above accommodating and some of the friendliest help I've experienced in Benicia. The food, however, is pretty bland. I ordered a Louisiana omelette (omelette with shrimp, onion, etc), which should have had much more flavor. Use the term Louisiana to describe your recipe, use a little flavor in it. But, because I ordered the Hollandaise sauce on the side, I was able to experience the full blandness of the meal. No salt, no pepper, nothing really to make this omelette stand out (it could probably have used more veggies such as onion, bell pepper, etc). On to the Hollandaise, YUCK! I tasted it first, before pouring it on my food. It was nasty, bland, not the Louisiana style promised on the menu, it might have even come from a jar, I'm just not sure. The aftertaste was awful, and I can't even describe what flavors were in it, and I usually have a good palette, and can taste salt and sugar from a mile away. Breakfast for 12 took over 2 hours and, believe me, it wasn't worth it. It took 40 minutes to order. Beverages did arrive quickly but we had to ask several times for coffee refills. By the time we ordered U had lunch and was disappointed in the catfish. It was one small filet and had more breAding than fish. The Jambalaya was tasteless and rice gummy. Food was great good job HOH ! But as far as their FOH goes, the service is terrible. At least the waitress whose section we sat in was. My huckleberry mimosa was warm and my fried green tomatoes came out damn near frozen on the inside. Not including the time we had to wait for the cold appetizer to come out which was at least 15mins. Mind you it was slow as far as business wise. The manager never came out to offer to give us anything complimentary or at least comp the fried greens.
