The steak came out medium rare...sent it back and of course they left it on the grill too long and it came back dry as hell! The New Orleans scramble was supposed to have shrimp AND sausage but lacked shrimp- had to send that back as well. The biscuit was horrible, that thing would choke a horse. My friend ordered french toast and payed for strawberries only to get frozen strawberry sauce rather than fresh strawberries. French toast itself was okay. I had met a friend for a post bday celebration and was excited when I saw the food pics and reviews. I was looking forward to the Beignets and their Southern breakfast items on menu. I had started with the Beignets Mardi gras but it was only ok. The preserves and jams were good, but it tasted a little doughy. Like not as airy as a regular beignet. Maybe it was the size of the beignets that made it dense? I had the French Toast with bananas and eggs with bacon. It tasted ok but nothing too special. The prices however was inexpensive and it seemed got a lot food portions for the money. Everything you order here is bomb! But you must try the peach ice tea! Fresh peaches on the bottom and a sugar rim make this non ice tea drinker a fan. I wish I could review the food, but the service was so bad that we ended up leaving before our food was even brought to our table. We arrived when the restaurant opened and we're the very first customers. We ordered our food and approximately five minutes later a Caucasian couple walked in. Even though they arrived and ordered after we did, they were served before us. We had a simple breakfast with eggs, pancakes and grits, but we were told that our food took longer because we ordered more. When I first walked in I felt like this was gonna be a new breakfast spot for me the server was fast to take my order the place was nice n clean comfortable seats as well. The food came out pretty fast the beignets aren't stuffed it's just bread fried with toppings on the side which was horrible I wasted it of course only took one bite waste of money I wouldn't recommend it. The entree was pretty good I ordered the andouille sausage which was actually a nice portion well worth the money. I wasn't a big fan of watching the couple next to me feed there dog in the restaurant that was a deal breaker I couldn't even enjoy my meal because of the dog and the server took forever to bring me my bill I might come back I have to look more into the dog thing before returning. read more

So I went there once a little over a year ago. The staff was nice but the food was mediocre at best. I wanted to be open minded and try it again though. So a month ago I went back there. I have always loved Eggs Benedict and have ordered it from the smallest hole in the wall up to high end restaurants. As long as it's cooked correctly and tastes even decent I'm a fan. So I ordered the Benedict. I get my food and both eggs are over cooked. One of them had a little yoke. The other was more over cooked and the yoke was solid. So I showed the waitress and she said oh no problem I will take care of this. She left my food there and ten minutes later comes out with two eggs on a plate. With nothing else. So after realizing this is the extent of their plan to take care of it. I asked to make sure if this is what they normally do when this happens with eggs Benedict. She said yes this is their policy. Here's the thing. When you let Hollandaise sauce get cold and sit. It separates and tastes nasty. So they want you to put your two eggs on your now cold food with the nasty hollandaise. We haven't ate there in a long time because every time we order from there something is missing in the order. We order on the phone and pick up in person so they can't blame any food delivery service. They always have 2 teenage girls working the front desk. They have zero customer service skills. Always different girls at the front desk. I don't know about wait staff turn over because we always order to go. Yesterday we decided to try this place again. I went there and placed the order in person, ran over to Raley's to get a couple items, went back to huckleberry's and they handed me a bag and walked off (zero customer service skills). I proceeded to take everything out of the bag and sure enough an entire meal was missing. Now the rest of my order is getting cold while I have to wait for the kitchen staff to prepare the missing meal. By the time I got the food home everything except the last meal had to be reheated. The food there is good, prices are reasonable (for today's world), they just have zero customer service skills and zero accountability. I have never been asked "May I help you". Two other diners (Country Waffles and Mike & Gayle's) occupied this location in recent history, hopefully Huckleberry's will prove to be longer-lasting. The food itself, however, was fairly standard issue. I think I could have assembled the salad with store-bought ingredients from the Raley's a few doors down. The hash was OK but it seemed processed. The corned beef was minced instead of chunked, and the potatoes were uniformly 1/4 inch cubes which reminded me of canned hash. Portions were decent and I felt like I got my money's worth. If I felt like driving I think I would rather eat at Bab's Delta Diner in Suisun, Cafe 29 in Napa, or Gracie's in Vallejo, and if I was feeling spendy I would probably eat at First Street Cafe, which is also in Benicia. But if you are in the area and want reasonably priced food with no surprises Huckleberry's is acceptable. read more

The servers are very nice but the waiting time to be seated can be a pain! 45 mins to an hour waiting time at a local brunch spot during the weekend is never the best feeling, and Benicia isn't even a big city. I was very disappointed today coming in for breakfast. The waitress took my order, I had the Cajun skillet and asked for no sausage, and I got a different dish with bacon in it. The chef forgot the sauce, and I never got the biscuit. It was very disappointing. I would not come here again. I don't eat meat and ended up eating bacon, very annoyed. This was definitely a solid/above-average experience, but also not something I'd tell visitors to the area that it's imperative that they visit. I had an omelette, which might be part of the influence as to my 4-star score. I feel like every omelette I've ever had was 4-stars. There doesn't seem to be much of a margin between the worst one and the best one that I've ever had. Something unique I was able to take away was the strawberry lemonade in a large mason jar, with the rim COVERED in sugar. If you say covered in sugar, I'm generally going to be ok with it, and this was no exception. I couldn't get enough of it! Huckleberry's is a cute place in a cute town. The only reason why I'm giving a one star review is because of our server today. Her name is Catalina, and both times we've come since COVID happened, she's had a nasty attitude. The first time she tried a little harder to hide it, but today there came a point where she didn't even care. We've come to this location multiple times and everyone has always been attentive and polite especially when it comes to refills on drinks. That's where our service went downhill today, we asked for a refill on a swamp iced tea and the server Catalina said they don't do refills on them And they charge you a dollar for the fruit they put in, I asked her since when they did that and she replied rudely with " since always". That was the first time we've heard that, so we let it go. After that every time you could hear the sarcasm in her voice, at the end she came and took our card for the payment and sent someone else to give us our receipt. Our Server was Very Friendly and Chatted with us for a bit before ordering. I forget her name, but she was Awesome! Always checked on us, refilling our drinks, and kept asking if we needed anything. She even introduced us to her backup person while she was going on her break. The Food portions were Huge, and In My Opinion worth every Penny! I ordered off their menu and got one pancake, 2 eggs, 2 bacon pieces for 20 cents cheaper...and my friend ordered the special...we got basically the same thing except he had more food and only paid 20 cents more! Gosh darn it... So long story short, make sure to check the specials...I have no idea why I didn't :( Anyways, they get -1 star because our waitress sort of disappeared on us. Brought us drinks, our food, and then our check...no refills and we had to walk to the front to pay because she forgot all about our table. I had their Tom's Scramble with hash browns and a side of Jambalaya. Chicken fried steak was good. The gravy wasn't too salty. The hash browns were perfectly crispy. My friend had their 1/2 lb ribeye steak, medium. She enjoyed that thoroughly as well. For drinks, we had their huckleberry mimosa. Chicken and waffles comes with eggs, I also ordered a side of bacon and a coffee. The service was good. The waffle was very good. The fried chicken was terrible, like fish sticks (boneless, heavy, flavorless breading). The bacon was as tough as beef jerky. The eggs were over cooked and poorly done scramble. My girlfriend and I go to John's Ice Cream in Berkeley to get their Huckleberry Heaven ice cream all the time because of the delicious flavor of the huckleberry. To our joy, this place exists, just a town over from our hometown. So, of course, we came here excited to eat huckleberry'd food. The setting was comedically perfect, with a few questions. The southern country feel of the place with drawings of fish, ribbed metal and wood accents, along with the confusingly placed bamboo plant, it made me enjoy the setting. It was funny in all the right ways! The food here is delicious and feels like it fits the restaurant's theme perfectly. I had the monte cristo, which in my opinion could've been more fried and powdered sugar covered, and my gal had the pancakes, with her beloved huckleberries of course. The huckleberries on there made me want to come back and that's what's great about this place. It is huckleberry central, hence the name probably.
